Hi.
My friend give me his old (broken) HTC Sensation 4G.
The problem is that screen is not working - it display colorful noise, touch screen is working.
I tried to go into recovery and magically screen start working properly. I done factory reset, update it to ICS and after night problem came back.
Now I figure out, that :
- I always can go to recovery (this problem never happen there)
- normal boot occurs this problem
- if I wake phone screen light came up, I see colorful noise (for some ms, very short), display is working normally (or not, last part is pretty random)
- if problem occurs it's kind of permanent - I need to go into recovery to "fix" it
I found some threads, but all of them is dead and without solution or "contact HTC support" solution.
Can I fix it at my own ? What cause problem ? - I mean, screen or something at motherboard.
Thanks.
Edit:
I just discover, that :
- if phone is warm it always work
- if I leave it to cool it not work
- In state between cold and hot it still works, but when I press power button I can see static colors and after while it came up
My assumption would be that it's hardware related. Try prying the device, and check the part below the digitizer. Sorry, that's all I could help (I once own a Sensation but never experienced this)

Yesterday morning after charging my phone, no different to anyother day attempted to type password in and nigh on impossible with curson blinking as if I was pressing enter - eventually managed to get in and it was if the trackball was stuck with the cursor moving down in every application making the phone nigh on impossible to use - reset a few times and took battery out and eventually (groan) went for hard reset but still happening - this is really bad and makes it impossible to use - help suggestions please
And threads just below this one another guy has the same problem on the same day it would seem - now that is weird / strange to say the least
I am in the procees of reinstalling the latest O2 XDA software update
16:50 installing latest update made no difference - problem still there
Is there a way you can disable the trackball - then at least can use stlyus / touch flo
Hi guys
I have this strange behavior going on in my Sentation.
Out of nowhere my phone started to have strange screen behavior... Didn't light up after pressing the power button (had to phone my self in order to get screen on).
The next thing was that suddenly the screen goes to maximum brightness or goes to minimum without any explanation (tried both auto brightness or manual).
After that I noticed that the screen went off when I was using it but when I pressed the left side of it it lighted up and off again... making me think of some kind of bad contact underneath. As I already had changed a broken touch screen for t3 times, and let the phone fall for several times I thought it had to do with some plug out of line...
I disassembled the phone completely and mounted up back again. The thing is that the phone started to freeze every 5 minutes (screen on but completely freezed. I have to pul out battery). Sometimes it freezes even in the recovery menu. I've tried several rom's with full wipe and not installing anything and its all the same.
Some times I still not that the screen goes off during the freeze but when I touch the left side it goes on again, but that doesn't change the freezed state even that I let down the phone for several minutes.
I disassemble the phone again, tried different back cover and different battery (one stock and other extra strength) I tried also all the suggestion related to the small pin in the back not connecting well with the back cover (adding an aluminium foil, pulling the pin out, etc..)
Nothing seams to resolve anything so I have clearly an hardware problem... but I don't know what to replace or where to look the damage!!!
Can anybody help me please?!
Update
I have an update on my problem:
I noticed that when I leave the phone on top of some kind of metal part and don't touch it it works all day without any problem but, as soon as I start to touch the phone, it freezes within minutes!
Could it be some kind of static electrical problem? How to resolve it?
I would apreciate any help
Thanks
I've had an odd problem with my 820 almost since getting. I'm hoping one of you geniuses have some advice.
When I turn it on it works perfectly, sometimes for hours. Then the screen goes blank, and then random pixels begin to appear, starting at the top of the screen. Outdoors rather than random pixels the screen goes almost totally green. Strangely, if part of the screen is obscured the green only covers rhe exposed area.
Pressing the on button repeatedly usually brings back the lock screen and reset (on+down) fixes the problem for another few hours.
By the way, eventhough I can't see the screen the touch sensor works. For instance I can hold theon button and then swipe downwards to turn off the phone. I can also answer and hang up using earphones.
My daughter who purchased the phone said it worked fine until the amber update. I had hoped the black update would fix the problem but no change. I found some posts from people with the same problem who sent the phone in to be fixed and got it back in the same condition. I really don't want to go through the hassle unless I expect to get it back fixed. I'd rather try fixing it myself.
My question is whether this is a firmware problem an whether it is likely that re-installing the stock black rom would do any more than the ota install that occurred automatically did (or didn't do).
Any ideas?
Nobody?
By the way it seems to happen only, or mostly when in standby.
I installed an app that displays a clock and doesn't allow the phone to go into standby mode,
and the problem doesn't appear to occur (unless I forget to leave the app on top).
I would set the phone to standby = "never" but the option isn't available on my phone, though
I understand that there are those with the standby = "never" option.
Any idea if I can set standby = "never" with keyboard commands, perhaps?
Hello my friends,
long story short, I totally destroyed my screen, so I ordered a new one from ebay, for my XT1032, replacement went without problems, everything works perfectly but screen turns black for 0.4 second every 9 seconds (aproximatelly) - do you have any experiences with this behaviour? Or any suggestions where is the problem?
Aditional information:
1. as I said, phone version is XT1032 and the new display too (I have not found any difference between old and new one)
2. I checked contacts 3 times, I think, everything should be well connected
3. touchscreen, cameras, battery, speaker, sensors are working as they should
4. I tried to factory reset, didnt help
5. I have old Cyanogenod 6.0.1., so I have made some customisation
6. My last guess is that as I made different customisations to the software side of my phone, maybe the new screen isnt set up for something like that, and I need to do the same customisation from scratch, with the new display.
EDIT 1:
Display in Bootloader and Recovery is working without turning black
I tried to factory reset and flash a different ROM, but didnt work and display still turns black
(I wanted to destroy it because new Moto G gen5 came out , I tried hard to destroy it, but everything is working perfectly, just screen was unusable, so I said: Hell yeah, this phone is godlike, I will keep it )
Thanks for any suggestion.
So old screen doesnt do this strange black screen, so definitelly it is an issue of the new one. My last guess was that something can be wrong with the proximity sensor, but it turns out that probably it is not the problem. I will try to return the display. I have enough and I end this.
Hi guys!
My Pixel 2 turned its back on me yesterday. When I woke up and took my phone to check the notifications, the display wouldn't turn on. I knew the device was working, since the fingerprint reader vibrated, but thought that either it's the BSOD I've been reading about on the internet, or the screen went bust totally. It seems neither is the case.
After some tinkering I know for sure that:
1) the device itself is fully working - software works, calls can be made, assistant works, it's fully accessible with adb, it responds to all input, charges normally
2) the touch input works just fine, I can blindly use the phone, but cannot see anything on screen at all
3) the screen does not work anywhere, not only when the system is booted up - forced reboot (power + volume down), reboot to recovery mode with adb, charging with phone powered down - everything works, but display won't ever turn on
4) it's not an issue with proximity sensor - using adb I was able to check that proximity sensor works just fine during calls, and normally returns a non-active state. Also, the screen is theoretically either on or off, depending on device state, but with no visual difference
Everything drives me to think it's a hardware failure (though I've seen failing touch or failing display+touch, haven't seen failing display with working touch yet) and I've already filled na RMA and I'm sending the device back for warranty.
The whole thing was so sudden and not expected though I thought I'd share and ask if anyone had experienced something similar? Is my reasoning that it's a hardware error valid, or maybe I'm missing something and there's something more I can try?
Cheers!
M.
