I bought my Xperia L about 7 months ago. It drains out battery level from 100% to 0% in about 3-4 hours and turns off. Without charging If the device turns on, the battery level shows around 90%, And so the same procedure keeps repeating. I do not charge the battery. The battery has charge in it but the system is showing the false batter level.
I even updated the software and also run the system repair but nothing improved.
Can someone help me please!
Thanks
Suzz
Sounds like defective battery. The thread will be moved to appropriate forum so that the right experts may chime in.

I mistakenly posted this in the wrong forum at first, so here it goes again:
I bought this Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (GT-5110) about a year ago, it runs the original firmware with the recent Samsung update to 4.2.2.
Lately the battery life has become very short. This was not a gradual change, but something that seemingly happened over night. I charge the device with a travel adapter that claims to output up to 1 A. The battery monitor shows that charging works as expected and the device charges to 100 % .
In use the battery shows 100 % for a while, but after about 20 to 30 mins jumps to 4 % , giving me the low batter warning. I am travelling and the only change I can think of is, that mains power here in Canada is 110 V instead of the 220 V back home in Europe, not that I expect that to be a problem.
I don't notice the device getting warmer than usual, so I don't believe, that the battery really charges to 100 %. Is there anything on the software side I can do to investigate this further?
Thanks for any advice!
EDIT: I just noticed, it's actually not the battery, that is dying. It is a error in the measurement. The battery life is normal, however the charge measurement shows nonsensical behavior: It goes to below 10 % in less than half an hour and then goes back to full, repeating this in cycles, like a sawtooth wave. So I suspect either a hardware fault in the measurement circuit or a software problem.
Here's a screenshot of what the battery info looks like, mind you the device has not been on the charger the entire time:

i think the problem is with the charger
drain the battery of your tab completely and then charge it fully upto 100 % with stock original charger and see if you notice any difference

What makes you say that? I've been using that charger instead of the Samsung charger at home for a long while now.
For me it may be the hardware issue, because software doesn't consume battery in the background so rapidly.
#If you are not sure try this options
For Hardware issues:
*Make sure your charger is working properly (Completely drain your battery and then connect your charger and charge for few half n hour and then reboot your phone and check your battery status and use your tab normally for few minutes and keep an eye on the battery consumptions)
If your battery is gradually decreasing no fault to your charger.
If your charger doesn't charge then its the time to either change or repair your charger.
For Software issues:
"GO TO BATTERY SECTION IN SETTINGS AND CHECK WHICH APPLICATION REDUCES YOUR BATTERY OVERNIGHT RUNNING ITS SERVICES IN THE BACKGROUNG AND JUST DELETE IT"
*After using your tab normally go to SETTINGS>APLLICATION MANAGER> and then RUNNING SERVICES.
If you find unnecessary services running in background NY an app which is not required just uninstall those app.
*Try to check your Sync, WiFi, GPS etc. settings to ensure that any app is consuming continuous services and draining your battery.
*Remove recently installed app which are not necessary.
Hope they help.
Thanks so far, I just updated my original post to describe the problem more precisely.
a solution

I had this exact problem, down to the sawtooth battery status profile, tablet model and android version, and fixed it with the following procedure:
After a normal boot, press and hold the power button continuously.
The tablet will shutdown and reboot repeatedly.
Hold the button down for at least 4 complete shutdown/restart cycles, never releasing the button.
After that treatment the battery status shows a nice, normal discharge curve, starting from whatever random place the sawtooth pattern left you at. Run the tablet until it powers down by itself, and then recharge it.
The ugly sawtooth battery status first appeared on the tablet after running an intensely power-hungry application (the battery got hot after 20 or so minutes of running). After that, the discharge rate seemed to have a flipped sign, where if normal discharge rate per minute was positive, the altered, aberrant discharge rate was negative. CoPilot was the offending software; however, that may be a post hoc ergo propter hoc logic error on my part.
The messed-up discharge rate would prematurely terminate charging if the table was on, so the only way to get a full charge was to turn the tablet off and attach the charger.
I use a Sony Xperia Z1 model c6902 phone. It is around 2 years old. No modifications have been done and it was on stock. When the battery was at 60 - 65% I get a notification saying battery low 1% powering off and shuts down. Then when the charger is plugged In it starts charging from 1% And after reaching 10% jumps suddenly back to 60%!!
Here are the steps I tried to resolve it:
1. It looked like a software bug so reset the phone to factory. No go
2. Unlocked bootloader, rooted, flashed 2-3 ROMS, no go
3. Flashed a stock . Ftf file. No go.
4. At the moment trying this app called Battery repair which I know for sure isn't going to help.
What should I do?
Edit: after battery recalibration and cell map (pretty sure all it does is reset batt stats) charge now dropped from 96% to 33%
Hello,
It seems your battery is faulty, its a common issue on all devices, usually the battery acting the way is caused by
1) overcharging battery frequently(leaving on charge too long)
2) charging while the device is under heavy use(its best to set the device aside to charge while not using it, even better to power off the device while it charges)
3) using the wrong charger(example: using 2A charger on a device that requires a 1A charger, this creates excessive heat and damages battery)
4) the battery could have a flaw that reduced its lifespan.
You can try another battery or you can post your question in the forum linked below.

The experts there may something to add. Good luck.
Hi all
I've had my Xperia Z3 for about 2 years now (currently running Marshmallow), and over the past say 6-12 months the battery life has been ordinary (may or may not coincide with any software update, not that i recall).
More recently, i've had the phone do some funny things but it more or less has become unusable now since the last incident which was:
Battery dropped over a day down to 50% (which was about normal given the usage of it). The battery level then stayed at 50% for length of time, and then started flashing between 50% to 100%, then it died.
performed the reset and plugged it in again, the battery level was at 0%, dark red light flashing etc., charge reported from 1% to 29% to 100% rather quickly, eventually i could turn it back on but it went from 100% to 0% "shutting down" quickly.
so now it will charge and stay on at 100% for a period of time, but will either a) stay at 100% for hours then turn off, or b) slowly discharge to say 96% then suddenly die.
either way, when it is plugged in it will say 0% battery and slowly show charging to say 20-odd% then be at 100% charge (and the cycle repeats.)
If while it's at 100% i reset the phone it will restart at 0% and power off.
(at the moment I've removed the sim and am using a backup phone at the moment so the only usage it gets are some wifi access and podcast / music listening connected to bluetooth headphones)
oh, while i remember - when the phone has done this abrupt shutdown, upon recharge the bluetooth is always switched off, which is strange but makes me wonder if this is more sinister than simply battery issues.
The phone is out of warranty but there's a local phone repairs shop that have quoted me a reasonable enough price to replace the battery, so my question is: what are the chances that this is purely a battery problem and would it be a sound investment to spend $$ replace the battery or am i wasting my time and money and the phone has a nasty chip or motherboard issue and really is just halfdead?
Aside from these recent battery problems, I am fairly happy with this phone and don't want to pay $1k for a brand new phone just yet if i can avoid by spending under $100 for a new battery and giving it a life extension.
Any feedback welcome
Cheers
***EDIT***
Sorry, amateur mistake, this should have gone into the Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section
can this thread be moved - please accept my apologies
I had that problem few times on different phones, battery dies.. You should replace it.
Replace the battery and you're good to go. If you've opened the back cover of your Z3 then maybe you should try considering to replace your battery by yourself. You could easily get one from aliexpress.
I just had my Xperia Z5's battery replaced due to it bloating up. After two weeks, I noticed that the battery indicator isn't working properly.
It would go down from 100% really fast (even during standby - not using the phone) but stay around 30% down for a really long time. No difference in usage. Then it also started restarting on its own even during standby. I would check my phone and it would need me to input my pin saying its required after a restart. Another instance, I was still typing out a text message and it restarted on its own. The battery was around 60% before it restarted but after it turns on again the battery indicator showed that its at 40 something %. I don't think the battery would drain that much just from restarting.
Also, just today, it won't charge properly anymore. It will detect the charger, like it would make the sound when you plug it in but the battery icon won't change to the charging icon and the battery will continue to drain. When turned off, it would show the Sony logo then battery level on the screen but will stay at 0% or whatever % it was left at and will continue draining.
So my phone just died earlier and I just went to plug it in hoping it would still work. The battery was stuck at 0% for the longest time so I just went and left it for a few hours. Coming back to it, I noticed that the LED indicator is green. I pressed the power button and it showed 100%, then I tried turning on the phone. It still turned on, showing 100% on the battery icon and could be used like usual.
I can still use the phone, barely, but this issue is really annoying. I'm not even sure if the next time it drains it would charge again.
So far, I've tried:
using a different cable and charger
doing a factory reset
doing a repair via Xperia Companion
But the issue still persists...
Is there anything else I can do on my end to fix this?
You should replace your battery
Hello.
I'm sorry to hear that your Xperia Z5 got this problem.
Here're some personal experiences:
1.Just replace a battery for it.My Xperia Z5 had same issue last month:Its battery lasts for only 2 or 3 hours, and charges much faster than before. Then I think maybe the battery life loss too much,so I bought a battery from taobao(A Chinese Website),then everything's fine just as when I buy it.
2.According to your description, maybe the sub board(It's responsible for charging and data transmission)is broken too.You can find a used one at ebay.
That's all.I hope this message can help you.And...I'm a Chinese so maybe you can't understand my Chinglish(It means "Chinese English" )...Sorry for that.
Hello. I just noticed something weird on my TCL 10L phone. When the phone reaches 100%, it displays fully charged on my lockscreen. Though, unlocking the phone I see the phone is still charging. I see the battery bar being green with a charging bolt. It takes around 15-30 minutes until it says charged (and the bolt removed). Is this normal? I do not remember the phone doing this when I bought it around 5 months ago.
Changes in charging and especially sudden loss of capacity can indicate a battery failure.
Check for cover swelling/bulging, battery swelling is a failure, replace asap if so.
A failure this early is rare but Li's can fail at any time in their life.
Inspect jack and port for contamination. Use a known good charger and cable. Try cycling the battery until the phone shutdown then charge to 100%, repeat... to calibrate battery indicator.
Minimum start charging temp is 72F
Best start temperature is 82-90F
Never attempt to charge a Li below 40F
Keep battery temperature below about 101F when charging.
Do not use phone while charging as it will skew the charging curve.
Thanks for the reply. There is no battery loss. I can play games on this device, browse, and check apps and drain the battery in the same period I did since I got it. I actually charged it to 100% since went to sleep. 9 hours later the device was still at 100%. 1.5 hour of playing a game after that and the battery was down to 84%. The issue is really weird. I am thinking a battery calibration may help. I do not know.
P.S. I am currently using Android 10 and I do not want to switch to Android 11.
I wouldn't worry about it.
It's best not to charge to 100%.or below 30%.
Lu's like frequent midrange power cycling (40-65%).
As for 11, no way that crapware is getting on my phones....

Did you personally experience this on any device? This is the first time I saw something like this. According to some articles the phone may display wrong battery stats. So I was thinking calibration would be a solution to this issue.
