I have a Oneplus One phone running CM11S. I am not a fan of the basic Google email app that runs my exchange email. I actually like the email apps that are available on the LG G3 or the Samsung S5. Is it possible to load their Email APK onto my phone running CM11S to handle my exchange account. I found the LG G3 email apk but can not get it to install.
Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

Many system apps can not be used on another phone as you wish.
If it will work, you need to put it in system/apps folder, fix permissions to match the other apps there (rw r r), then reboot and see if it works. That is the only way, if it will work.

I know a lot of people really like the new gmail app. Visually speaking it is very nice but it does not have a combined view which did not work for me. I also liked using the two different widgets within the apps to differentiate my email account.
Here is a quick and easy method of enabling both the stock email and gmail app. You must have your system rooted. First install Uninstaller Pro (RU) to remove both the stock email app and gmail app. Next install both the stock email and gmail app from the play store. That's it. You are back to the setup you are used to.
well, it worked in the sense that I can open the stock email app again, but it won't connect to my hotmail account. I tried both the auto setup and the manual method, either it gives me server error or a username/password error.
I might be wrong here (haven't tested it because I don't use the stock email app), but wouldn't something like titanium backup also be able to uninstall the apps?
Hello all,
I am finding the stock email app on my Mate 7 to massively let down a great phone.
The issues are:
- there doesn't seem to be a way to easily manually check for mail. On other stock apps I have used, you just drag down or similar to check the server,
-The email app seems to stop checking for emails half way through the day. The only way to fix it seems to be to reset the phone, and then all the messages come flooding in.
Is there a fix for these issues? Alternatively, is the a basic email app that works well, is free and has no apps?
Thanks!
Use gmail app instead
Try to reply to an email and "Mail has stopped working"
Uninstall Chrome updates and you can magically reply again
Based on my mere seconds of Googling it appears a bug have been reintroduced with Android System Webview (which is now integrated into Chrome and is no longer a standalone app)
Great work Google you f***in retards
Go to Playstore. Uninstall both Gmail and Chrome browser. Reinstall both again. I hope this works.
Sigh...

Reported to HTC.
Now wait and see what happens
I've hit the same issue. Funny how it works, just when I'm traveling overseas and really need it more than usual. I'm trying to fix but not certain how to uninstall the Chrome update. Info I have basically seems to need to back out all upgrades.
Can we assume they will put out a fix for this?
Thanks for the info greatly received as my HTC U11 just packed up on emails. Did as you advised and back up and running, why do they mess with something that was working and never test it properly before releasing updates?
I have the same problem. I uninstalled Chrome updates and now HTC mail works again. However now Amazon Shopping and Underground doesn't work, requires update to System Webview which is now embedded in Chrome. So how can I revert Chrome to its previous update, since removing updates reverts it to HTC stock version?
HTC mail working well here, and Gmail too.
I don't have problems with Google Chrome! Is working well! Anyway, i don't use Chrome,. I'm using Samsung Internet Browser app with Adblock Plus for Samsung Internet Browse Safe on my HTC U11, because it's much, much faster than Chrome! My second browser is Firefox with sync Windows 10 bookmarks.
I had the same problem the other day on my u11 removed the latest chrome update. Worked fine for a day now I can't send and email or reply
I ran into the same issue. I uninstalled the Chrome update and am able to use the stock email app.
HTC reported it back to Google.
And Google likely will fix it in the next Chrome update
Android mail crashes with March 2018 Chrome release
After a week or two of not being able to reply or forward I uninstalled Chrome updates and low an behold mail worked.
Next day it stopped again so I disabled automatic updates and re-uninstalled Chrome updates and yes mail worked again.
Shame I cannot figure out what chrome version this is or even release date.
Looks like it is broken again? Cannot forward or reply to emails, but composing fresh to the same address results in a successful send. Otherwise it just errors out and says "unable to send messages"
Seriously FCUK HTC I am so tired of their bullish
HTC Official Support Position......... wait for patch and use another email client in the meantime................ FCUK this company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's seems to work fine here.
What Chrome and HTC Mail version do you have? I have 66.0.3359.126 and 10.70.1031252.

Yes these are the versions I have as well. Noticed Android Webview is still at 61.x.x.x with Chrome installed, discovered I can disable chrome and enter the Beta program to get to Webview 66.x.x.x and the problem still exists. Replied and forwarded emails fail immediately, and will not send, but composing a new email works fine. Also tried setting up the gmail app to send/receive my POP3 emails and it had the exact same problem.... Sent and replied emails showed Failed when attempting to send

There is a HTC Mail 10.70.1035099 now. Might be worth testing.
This problem was fixed with the HTC Mail update
I have read this is expected and also see MMS fails to work with a lot of 3rd party sms apps. Text works fine but no MMS or emoji's via gBoard. Facebook messenger as sms client also fails to send MMS messages.
Textra however works but really want to use native Google messaging app. Does anyone know why this is? Is this similar tonwhyboir phones don't support Chromecast?

Check apn

I have the same issue. Apn is fine.
I think Xiaomi phones just don't like Google messages.
Oh well, I'll just have to buy something else.

Correct I read that its a known issue. I can't understand why though and its pretty annoying. I'm willing to use textra though to keep the phone since its so beautiful and fast. Camera is better than my wifes iPhone X too.
Customer rom (once available) shoudl take care of it though i think...?
Same issue. I'm using Pulse instead:

If you want to root your phone there is a Magisk module that installs Google Framework which allows non-Google phones to use Google Dialer and Google Messages. The Google versions of those apps usually won't work on non-Google phones unless it is an Android One device.
Google messages has worked on every other device for me. Good news though, I installed the global miui 10 beta and android messages (incl MMS) works perfectly without any tinkering. So all of this will be a thing of the past...

I didn't know that. The Google Dialer/Contact App doesn't work on most non-Google phones.
Yeah dialer still doesn't work for me (just trying latest from apkmirror, not getting in to hacked versions). But messages is fine.

Please report it to Google. Looks like G can revoke certification for this ****

I had the exact same issue. MMS didn't work for me on 9.5.19 Upgraded to 8.26 MIUI 10 beta and mms works perfectly.
I can receive and send MMS now on MIUI 10. However, sending GIF works BUT receiving them just gives me a jpg of the first frame of the GIF. Has anyone fixed this? Textra does not work. Messenger does not work. The stock messaging app doesn't even allow them to be inserted.
It seems the newest update released today for Miui9 has fixed Google Messages.
Maybe they backported the fix from Miui10?

Thanks for the info, I'll have to test once I get home(just bought the Mi Mix 2s, haven't fully transitioned yet).
*Edit, no OTA yet for U.S. in SoCal. Downloading the OTA manually from MIUI forums: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=3410139&page=1#pid28876221
*Edit 2, just finished manual update to 9.6.4. Tested MMS/GIF sending via T-Mobile on Mi Mix S2 on Android Messages and it works flawlessly. However Verizon is still busted, can't access APN settings. Verizon SIM was taken from my Pixel XL.
what about group text/mms? when people response, it only go to me? other than that everything is good. Where do I get the global rom MIUI 10 beta?
Thanks
Not working in Miui 10 Stable Global
Hi guys,
I have had an MMS issue with Lineage ROMs and solved it by merging APNs, if you have on dedicated fro the web, and the other one for the MMS.
Simply copy / paste the data related to MMS from the dedicated MMS APN to the web APN, and add set type to "default, internet, mms".
It has worked immediately.
Hope it helps !
