the error said:

Hi Guys,
System version 0.7.2.xt926.Verizon.en.US
Android version 4.0.4
System has been ROOT
I want to update the Android to 4.1.1 from OTA. After download the update program, press "update now", the phone restart and update, but a few minutes, the phone restart. But update failure. The Android version still 4.0.4.
Then I change to use default Recovery to update.I used 2 ways:
1、use “apply update from external storage”
The update failure and show the information as follow
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
2、use "apply update from cache"
The update failure too and show the information as follow
assert failed:apply_patch_check("/system/app/BooksTablet.apk","1932fde58cef592d0ff957b1be0c22fe2afd912b","0d8c659f9228f05a774f1182f35ef1bf57eafb41")
E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)

Does anyone know the reason? Many thanks!

My OTA update to JB initially failed to but my phone went into boot loop, I was able to get into safe mode and then do a factory data reset (after another 4 attemps to get past a boot loop) then the phone booted up and I was on JB.

Thank you for your reply, I'll try it after backup.
You can't do an OTA update if youre rooted with safestrap. You need to download voodoo and hide root, then uninstall safestrap.
If that still doesn't work (it probably won't because it didn't for me either), back up all your info and flash back to stock 4.0.4. Then install only superuser and voodoo, hide your root and download BOTH OTA updates before attempting to install safestrap and unhiding root.
Good luck

After a couple of tries to apply the 4.1.2 update, I decided to leave it alone, and root my device using CWM.
Problem is, once I succesfully used fastboot and restarted in CWM mode, the update which was previously stored is coming up, and now it gives this failure message:
E: signature verification failed
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop ("ro.product.device") == "
E: Error in /cache/Blur_Version.98.1.18002.XT925.Vodafone.en.FR.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Now, my phone keeps restarting! and it tries to update to no avail. What can I do to stop this? Or even better, to make it work.

To my understanding, ClockWorkMod.
I still need to find how to apply the update. I found a zip file, apparently it's the update that someone pulled off of their phone, but it gives me the same fail message

Thanks....ClockWorkMod as in Rom Manger? Rom Manager was great....used it on my Evo!!
Hey guys!
Firstly, I've tried installing the 5.0 update on my nexus 5. I tried via ADB so downloading it and then putting it onto my phone by putting my phone into recovery mode, and then applying update from ADB, however on the phone it came up with an error which was:
"/System/fonts/ROboto-BoldItallic.ttf" has unexpected contents.
E: Error in /tmp/update.zip (Status 7)
Installation aborted. " - I have tried deleting this file but just can't seem to be able to due to it being a read only??
I then waited until the official update was pushed to my phone, which was about 30 minutes ago, however that then gave me just an "error" after downloading, then restarting and trying to install.
I'm on stock firmware but I am rooted -Any help or advice in the right direction will really be helpful, and greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Need to be fully stock or you'll fail. Should be a link in my signature about update options...or at least how to get lollipop and root.
I've just finished flashing the stock motorola 4.4.4 EU rom and updating it after using CM 12 and having it become very unstable on my device due to the recent nightlies. I downloaded the official ota update to 5.0.2 the system reboots into TWRP (Version 2.8.5.0) and displays:
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/cache/Blur_Version.210.12.40.falcon_umts. EURetail.en.EU.zip;
E: Error installing zip file '/cache/Blur_Version.210.12.40.falcon_umts.EURetail.en.EU.zip'
As soon as i select reboot into system, the boot loads fine and stays on for a while, but then automatically restarts to attempt the install again. Im assuming this error is because I'm running a custom recovery, but any help would be great! I know exactly where the zip is on my phone storage too, so would it be a matter of installing manual (however when I checked it displayed a message saying it could be incompatible and render my device unstable, and I really dont want to have to reinstall the rom again.
Also I have not updated to a custom boot loader, its running the kitkat boot loader from motorola.
Thanks in advance
Hello and thank you in advance for your time.
I've a very annoying problem: My idea was to install CyanogenMod but I'm very far from it but I think I own the only one S2 Plus in the world that is impossible to root.
I write here after having read all readable about rooting my phone model, without any success... :crying:
Phone Specifications:
Model Number GT-I9105P
Android Version 4.2.2
Baseband version I9105PXXUBNG2
Kernel version 3.0.31-2705991
[email protected] #1
Tue Jul 1 16:51:57 KST 2014
Build Number JDQ39.I9105PXXUBNG1
What I tryed to do:
* I tryed this method: beta.download.cyanogenmod.org/install; but my phone is not supported.
I tryed to force even if it was not supported, but procedure stops
* I tryed this method towelroot.com/; but my phone is not supported.
I tryed the different 3 modstrings towelroot.com/modstrings.html without success
* I tryed with Odin (3.0.7). I followed some online guides (even one on this forum): I found a correct CWM. I installed it. But any zip superSU I try to install from my sdcard (I think it's impossible from internal memory) says this error:
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]Install from package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed[/COLOR]
I tryed super SU version 1.5.1, 1.8.4, 1.9.xx
What's the problem with my phone?
Thank you for your help
Giampaolo
After many attempts to load the superSU zip I realized CWM were never be actived!
I was using Standard Android Recovery system (it's first phnoe I'm trying to root).
So I applied plan B. Deactivated auto reload, I remove and reinsert the bactery. When phone starts I try to enter CWM.
I understood this operation is useful to recovery of Android Recovery System;
But when I'll do it my phone stuck on galaxy logo.
Same as forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-galaxy-s-iii-rooting-rom-s-hack-s/185220-trying-root-cant-get-into-clockworkmod-recovery-2.html#post3094734 (and no one reply to its problem)
i did that unplug cable and battery pull trick but its stuck on galaxy grand logo cant reach to the cwm can u please help me ?

Now I have no more resource. Has anyone a solution?
Anyone with my same problem?
If it won't boot to recovery, try installing another recovery like TWRP or Phillz recov. , also just install the SuperSU package: https://download.chainfire.eu/396/supersu/ trough recovery , this might be the solution
