Hi Guys,
System version 0.7.2.xt926.Verizon.en.US
Android version 4.0.4
System has been ROOT
I want to update the Android to 4.1.1 from OTA. After download the update program, press "update now", the phone restart and update, but a few minutes, the phone restart. But update failure. The Android version still 4.0.4.
Then I change to use default Recovery to update.I used 2 ways:
1、use “apply update from external storage”
The update failure and show the information as follow
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
2、use "apply update from cache"
The update failure too and show the information as follow
assert failed:apply_patch_check("/system/app/BooksTablet.apk","1932fde58cef592d0ff957b1be0c22fe2afd912b","0d8c659f9228f05a774f1182f35ef1bf57eafb41")
E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Does anyone know the reason? Many thanks!

My OTA update to JB initially failed to but my phone went into boot loop, I was able to get into safe mode and then do a factory data reset (after another 4 attemps to get past a boot loop) then the phone booted up and I was on JB.

Thank you for your reply, I'll try it after backup.
You can't do an OTA update if youre rooted with safestrap. You need to download voodoo and hide root, then uninstall safestrap.
If that still doesn't work (it probably won't because it didn't for me either), back up all your info and flash back to stock 4.0.4. Then install only superuser and voodoo, hide your root and download BOTH OTA updates before attempting to install safestrap and unhiding root.
Good luck

You need to see if you can Odin restore back to jf6, make sure you have working 3 button download mode before trying anything.
Nevermind, above method works.
Howdy all, yay another newbie!
Phone is a droid 2, verizon network. I rooted it last night with the super 1click, have SU access, wireless tether and installed rom manager free version.
Flashed cwm recovery to 2.5.08, tried to backup existing rom and had an immediate reboot with no backup made. Tried repeatedly same results, reflashed cwm repeatedly same results. Tried to change the cwm recovery version, and have
2.5.08
2.5.1.4
2.5.1.3
2.5.1.1
listed. But trying to load any but 2.5.08 returns "An error occurred while downloading your recovery.
I tried going into CWM recovery through rom-manager but it immediately reboots back to normal, no recovery screen.
I entered into normal recover and tried to run the 'update.zip' which returns
E:Can't open /cacherecover/command
Install from sdcard
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
I wiped back to factory through the normal recovery screen and started fresh and am getting exactly the same as before with everything above tried again.
I have not tried installing a new rom, don't want to go that deep until I know I can reset if needed.
Any help or other ideas? What I've been able to find by searching hasn't resolved the problem yet.
After a couple of tries to apply the 4.1.2 update, I decided to leave it alone, and root my device using CWM.
Problem is, once I succesfully used fastboot and restarted in CWM mode, the update which was previously stored is coming up, and now it gives this failure message:
E: signature verification failed
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop ("ro.product.device") == "
E: Error in /cache/Blur_Version.98.1.18002.XT925.Vodafone.en.FR.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Now, my phone keeps restarting! and it tries to update to no avail. What can I do to stop this? Or even better, to make it work.

To my understanding, ClockWorkMod.
I still need to find how to apply the update. I found a zip file, apparently it's the update that someone pulled off of their phone, but it gives me the same fail message

Hi,
I have a Huawei phone, Model number U8860, Android Version 4.0.3, Baseband 404029, Build U8860IV100R001C17B923SP03 which I bought from Amazon.co.uk and came from China.
The phone is Rooted.
When I hold the Vol + and Power buttons it boots to:
Android System recovery <3e>
Android system recovery utility
I select:
apply update from sdcard
I then select:
gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
I'm then told that:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I have installed ClockWorkMod and TWRP but both tell me that my phone is unsupported.
Can somebody help please? I have read many posts on this forum over the last week but cannot install gapps.
Many thanks

You NEED a custom recovery. Stock Recovery will not work.
TWRP 2.4.4.0 --> DOWNLOAD
CWM Touch 6.0.1.0 --> DOWNLOAD
LS.xD
I realise I may be being very thick here but please be patient
I downloaded the TWRP 2.4.4.0 as suggested and have placed the .zip on my sdcard. From "TWRP Manager (Root)" I have tried to install it. There are two options in the menu "Install" and "Install TWRP". I select "Install" and it goes to the same:
Android System recovery <3e>
Android system recovery utility
When I select the TWRP recovery zip I still get:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
What am I missing?
The team win page says:
View All Supported Devices
Find TWRP for your device
Type the name of the device, or the board if you know it!
No results found for u8860.
Can anybody help please? I now get "Image signature verify fail" and it won't boot.
It says I need to update the image.
How do I get back to the original recovery image or get this custom recovery working?
Thanks
OK, this is really easy.
Just go to the Huawei web site httpcollonbackslashbackslash consumer.huawei.com/en/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=13691 and download "HUAWEI Honor firmware(U8860,Android 4.0,V100R001C00B925,Norway General Version)". Drill down a couple of levels and put the "dload" folder which contains one file on an sdcard and boot the phone with the volume + and - key depressed.
My phone eventually booted with a lovely version of ICS with all the Google stuff in English.
Best of luck.
Hi, I tried to update my moms OPO but when I downloaded it through settings and after reboot and some time it showed only - error word and that's all. Then I tried to use cyanogen update tracker to download the zip of the update and then update it through recovery. When I went to the recovery and started the update after some time it showed me e: failed to load /sideload/package.zip and there's was something more but I don't remember what.
