How to remove Google search bar (Ok Google) on Lollipop, but just the bar, and keep the OK Google voice feature at homescreen?
I was able to do it on KK using xposed, but no more.
use a different launcher (like Apex or Nova etc)

I am using the GN although this is not specific to that only
I would like to us Apex or Nova
On Apex I like that I get a number above the messaging icon on the screen/sick. And on Nova I like the single google search icon that brings up the voice 'thing' without the search bar
Is there an app that does the messaging notifications so I can use Nova
Or is there the google search icon. So I can use Apex
Thank you
I really don't think it's useful, especially in China where google is sometimes unreachable.
Is there a way different from change a third-party launcher to remove the google search bar?
I've tried to delete the google search app, and the stock launcher can't work
There's one thing that bugs me about CM12, and I can't seem to fix it. I installed the latest nightly with the Minimal GApps pack, then I installed Google Search and Google Now Launcher via Play Store. In the Recents Screen there wasn't any search bar (like it should be), but after a reboot a transparent search bar appears. I already tried to uninstall Google search and then to install it again, and I also tried a new reflash, but nothing. Can you help me (screen attached)?
What is your Google App version?
I'm coming from a Moto Z. I don't know a lot about launcher styles but I think the way it worked is more or less straight from AOSP -- simple home screens with a toggle for a Google Search bar at the top, fixed app-drawer button in the home row, drawer scrolls vertically with an alphabetical list of all installed apps. Swiping "before" first home screen (so, to the right) shows Google Now.
I can try to get used to the stock launcher (swipe up for app drawer, down for search / calendar) but I'd really like to keep Google Now's article listing. Is there a simple way to do that without other drastic changes? I'm not planning to root, if that matters.
Try Lawnchair or Rootless Pixel Launcher. Simple APK installation and you will get similar experience to Pixel 3's launcher. There is an add-on APK available for the Google Now functionality you want as well.
You can install a theme that enables google now on the stock launcher, I have these two:
Pixel Experience Theme
Pixel Experience Theme Dark
I replaced my Pixel 3 with this phone and am quite happy how well it does so.
I use Nova Launcher Prime and Google Now companion add-on. Unfortunately I can't remember if you need to pay for Nova Launcher Prime to use the add-on. It works great!
Is it possible to change the place of the Google search bar ?
It is now at the bottom of the screen, i like to move it to the middle.
I moved the Google search bar with the help of Nova Launcher
Try Nova Launcher. Better with more flexibility including the location and customization of search nar. Buy the prime paid version for ultimate feature and flexibility.
