I am using the GN although this is not specific to that only
I would like to us Apex or Nova
On Apex I like that I get a number above the messaging icon on the screen/sick. And on Nova I like the single google search icon that brings up the voice 'thing' without the search bar
Is there an app that does the messaging notifications so I can use Nova
Or is there the google search icon. So I can use Apex
Thank you

I am looking for a way to have notifications appearing on the dock icons for K-9 (email), SMS (I use GoSMS) and Google Voice Voicemail.
I can't grow fond of the notification bar -- it gets too busy, messy looking for me. So I generally hide it.
But I still want to see message and voice mail counters on my dock icons.
It seems that the stock apps can do it, but I like a unified email app, and use Google Voice for my voicemail. Plus, I like my own icons....
Anyway this can be done (and what is the reason that this feature is not not built into any of these 3rd party apps)?
This works just fine with ADW notifier. Not sure if you need ADW Launcher EX or if the free one will work.

Thanks! This is a good reason to switch to ADW Launcher (even though I was happy with Go Launcher).
ADW Notifier is absolutely great for everything else, but it does not notify of Google Voice messages
Anyone with a solution to GV notifications?
When I got Apex Launcher Pro, I was under the impression that it would be able to add unread badges to all my apps using a toggle in the Accessibility menu, and that's not the case at all. Instead, developers must use Apex's built-in API for unread badges to appear. The problem is that there's no good way to find apps that support this API, so it might be nice to have a list of the apps that do. I'll start:
Messaging + GV
Aquamail
facebook would be nice (unread notifications badge)
Use Missed it! From the playstore for ALL your apps
Works perfectly amd also the dev has a thread here on xda

Hello,
For me Google Play Launcher is the most smooth launcher for 4.4.2 on my phone.
I've used Nova Launcher, and Apex, but I love swipe to left for Google.
But I've gotten tired of stock icons..
I'm running art, and I change my icons using desktop visualizer, so no problem..
What do I want to know is where the app drawer icon is located.. I know I have to manually change it, no problem I've done it before, on TouchWiz..
So my question for you is, dose anybody knows where the app drawer icon is located?
Thanks.
It's in Google Search in /data/app/

Earlier, when I had nova launcher prime , Google play store search was available directly from the search bar in the app drawer, which was helpful in the case when you search an app in the drawer that you haven't installed, you can click the playstore icon and you will be redirected to the store to install it. But, I downloaded nova launcher prime from the store today and found that this option is not working. Is there any way to toggle it on or off or it has been removed from the launcher ?
I am using Nova launcher Prime 5.4-beta2 on Redmi 3s prime MIUI 8.1 global.
I may have posted it in wrong section so please move it to the right one.
Yes, it's gone for me as well. They've added support for an app called sesame shortcuts recently that provides the play store option in app search.
Might be that the feature is broken because of that integration or it might also mean the play store search has been removed and will now only be available through sesame shortcuts.
I'm coming from a Moto Z. I don't know a lot about launcher styles but I think the way it worked is more or less straight from AOSP -- simple home screens with a toggle for a Google Search bar at the top, fixed app-drawer button in the home row, drawer scrolls vertically with an alphabetical list of all installed apps. Swiping "before" first home screen (so, to the right) shows Google Now.
I can try to get used to the stock launcher (swipe up for app drawer, down for search / calendar) but I'd really like to keep Google Now's article listing. Is there a simple way to do that without other drastic changes? I'm not planning to root, if that matters.
Try Lawnchair or Rootless Pixel Launcher. Simple APK installation and you will get similar experience to Pixel 3's launcher. There is an add-on APK available for the Google Now functionality you want as well.
You can install a theme that enables google now on the stock launcher, I have these two:
Pixel Experience Theme
Pixel Experience Theme Dark
I replaced my Pixel 3 with this phone and am quite happy how well it does so.
I use Nova Launcher Prime and Google Now companion add-on. Unfortunately I can't remember if you need to pay for Nova Launcher Prime to use the add-on. It works great!
