[Q] XT926 - Custom ROM GSM - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had to switch phones this week and have an old Razr HD Maxx - XT926.
I bought from ebay and never really used it before - it has bootloader unlocked, rooted and running Pacman 4.4 ROM.
Anyway I live in Ireland can can't get my SIM recognised.
It get the error No signal!! your sim does not allow a connection to this network or unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped
Reading through the forum i see there are know issues with the XT926 users that are outside the US, use SIM cards and Custom ROMS.
What is the quickest way to get my phone actually to work as a phone
I think i can flash back to Stock?
Can i flash a XT925 ROM without bricking?
Is there a Custom ROM i can use that does not have this GSM issue -Currently have teh JB Bootloader so ideally a ROM compatible with that?
Build.prop attached.
I tried this patch http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689
But get the message This not seem to be a Verizon Phone
Any help is much appreciated.

The quickest way to get your phone working would probably be to download "DROID RAZR HD XT926 Utility 1.4 KK" found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474393
Make sure to read the instruction while you charge your phone's battery to 100% before flashing. I assume that you've already done something like this?: http://firstandgeek.com/solved-unfortunately-process-com-android-phone-stopped/
And yup, this is stock firmware.
I am using XT926 in Europe as well, and there's a few thing you should do with the stock Verizon firmware:
1) Get root
2) Disable the annoying "Sim card is from an unknown source" ("VzwPhoneService.apk")
3) Download Titanium Backup and freeze all VZW apps and unnecessary services.
4) Wireless Hotspot hack
OR.........
You could download CM12 Lollipop, but this will probably take more time than the previous option.

[Q] FIDO Razr HD LTE problems!

Hello all -
New to Android platform. Hope someone from this great forum can assist ... I'll try to be brief. First, my device:
Razr HD LTE xt925
FIDO
Android v.4.1.2
Had attempted a little while ago to unroot my phone, as I was curious about better customization options. For various reasons, I tried to 're-root' and go back to factory. Did that, upgraded from ICS Jellybean 4.1.2 (which is what my phone was on when purchased).
Now, when I boot the phone, I still get the message 'Bootloader is unlocked'. After upgrading from ICS to Jellybean, I saw a large number of Verizon specific apps. When booting the phone, instead of the Motorolla 'M' icon/splash, I get a 'Droid' icon, with sound-effects. Also, System Version shows as 9.16.XT926.Verizone.en.US (even though my phone is an XT925 on FIDO). I obviously fudged something up... !
Most importantly, ever since, my GPS is very spotty, and I cannot get on the FIDO LTE network. In Mobile Networks setting, I have to always have 'Global' selected as network. If I choose LTE/CDMA or GSM/UMTS, it can never find an available network.
I'm really just trying to get my phone back to the state is was when I purchased it.
Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

Here's the JB file for Fido/Rogers:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/van...12.2_CANADA_VANQJBLTEFRCI_P004_CFC_fb.xml.zip
Thanks very much for your reply. I did try flashing with the FIDO file you quoted, and my phone didn't take it. I booted to fastboot, current drivers, and the RSD Lite message I got was:
Failed flashing process. 1/21 flash partition "partition_signed" -> Phone returned FAIL
The corresponding message on my phone was: Failed flashing process. 1/21 flash partition "partition_signed" -> Phone returned FAIL
Hope someone has an idea on how to successfully get back to the FIDO Android v.4.1.2.
Thank you all!
Have you removed the Getvar lines? You can also try the Telcel rom with Fido modem/fsg files placed into it. (That's what I had before custom roms because Fido was slow with JB).
Yes, I did try when removing getvar line in the xml.
I stated erroneously the error on my phone after trying the intitial FIDO flash - the phone error in fact was:
downgraded security version
update gpt_main version failed
preflash validation failed for GPT
I appreciate the input. Any other thoughts on this? I regret trying to unroot the damned thing in the first place... !

From what I can see, those errors come when trying to downgrade to ICS through RSD but you are trying to install JB so that makes no sense. Since you are bootloader unlocked you can probably flash the files through fastboot?
no worries man...calm down...you'll be fine...i had the same issue..i'm actually using an xt925 as well; had the same issue a couple of days back...see the issue is the ROMs that you see for xt925/926 is actually the ROM for verizon, so when you flashed a custom ROM, it actually flashed your GSM radio to the version radio, which is CDMA; These are the steps you need to follow, and you're good to go, trust me:
1). After deleting the getvar line, delete 2 lines below it as well, so lines 12 and 13, then try flashing with this new xml file. really imp, this will take about 5-10 mins, then the phone will reboot, dont unplug the cable yet, it's gonna reboot, and ask to sync phone with SIM, do that....and you're good to go.
2). Root.
3). Install TWRP, preferably 2.5, then backup your stockROM.
4). I would recommend using Matt's utility for xt926, and you can perform all the steps in sequence.
note: Since you unlocked your bootloader, you will always get that warning message, it's normal.
lemme know if it works!
eomahos I am in your debt. Worked like a charm!
In step 4 you indicated using 'Matt's utility for xt926' ... I'm not familiar with the utility. Do I use this to install TWRP?
Thanks again man!

[Q] Custom ROMs/install guides for XT1028?

After months of being stuck on my Verizon Moto G with a locked bootloader, I finally managed to obtain freedom via the recent update to the SunShine app from jcase. My phone was having some issues prior to unlocking, and it took me several hours of labor and installing/reinstalling things to finally get TWRP and any ROM going properly. I've worked with Android tablets and custom ROMs before, but this is my first time on a Verizon phone.
I managed to get the N5X ROM installed and running, but I couldn't seem to resolve issues with data/mms, which I presume are APN related; trying to enter new APN settings in that ROM wouldn't save for whatever reason, either. For now, I'm back on an optimized stock 4.4.4 image until I can get that figured out.
My question: Is there any list of custom ROMs that do specifically work with a Verizon CDMA/XT1028 Moto G? Does anyone have a guide to getting these ROMs working on Verizon prepaid service, including any APN adjustments that need to be made? Thanks.
Followup: Still trying to figure this out, but the N5X ROM will give me working data if I enable Data Roaming. I've attempted to update the PRL for Verizon via *228, but the phone status still shows as roaming even though my PRL has been updated, displaying my network as T-CDMA 64. Is this simply an issue with my phone not properly identifying roaming/non-roaming due to the custom ROM? Verizon has the best coverage in my area, so I want to make sure it is connecting to the proper towers (and I'm not ACTUALLY roaming). Thanks.

[Q] AtT NOte 2 unlocked, now using Tmobile, Can't upgrade firmware

MY sister called ATt to unlock her phone when she went abroad, they did. Now she no longer has ATT and is with tmobile. Using the Tmobile sim card, she can't seem to upgrade her OS using the firmware update option in settings. How can she go about upgrading? she currently has android 4.1.2 with the NOte 2?
also if i flash aokp on her phone, but she don't like it, then flash back the original 4.1.2 firmware, would i lose the unlock that ATT did for her and she can't use Tmobile anymore?

Carrier unlocking is separate from ROM. If you can install custom recovery (CWM, TWRP), switching from ROM to ROM is as simple as doing a backup of one, wiping the device, and installing another ROM. Always save a back-up to your computer, and it's also a good idea (much easier in the end) to do a batch back-up through Titanium of all the user apps, so you can simply restore them to the new ROM instead of downloading them all over again and losing the app data.
Factory firmware can be obtained from sammmobile.com and are flashable with Odin (google it).
thanks for the help but why can't she update the stock rom from the settings though when she switched to tmobile? are the update locked to the att carrier?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The method Planterz gave you will give her the latest firmware. There's at least a few Lolipop ROMs for the Note 2

Verizon M8 unlocked w/ TMO sim, same flash process?

Hello, just upgraded from a Galaxy S4 on T-Mobile to an unlocked Verizon HTC One M8 handset. Popped in the sim, I can send and receive text, data on HSPA/3G mode but not one LTE or Global mode (anyone know why this is? I'd like to be able to use t-mobiles LTE and not just HSPA/3G), get the usual "sim unknown source" stuff. I am wanting to flash Skydragon.
My question, is there anything special I need to do before/after I flash these, since I'm using a different network than what the handset was originally supposed to be on? Maybe I need to flash different radio? This is my first time using an unlocked phone, previously all my phones with custom ROMs were on the same network as the handset variant.
Otherwise, would I just update to the latest 5.0.1 OTA update from Verizon, root/unlock bootloader, install TWRP, then flash Skydragon, and I'm all good?
Edit: Well, further reading seems to indicate to me that it turns out verizon M8 devices already updated to 5.0.x are still not able to be rooted at this time?
Thanks for the help

Can Xoom run without sim at all

I have had my original Xoom for a long while now - not sure exactly the version (601 rings a bell) but it was early in the very first release. ( it has 3g and wifi)
I've always had a sim card in it, however it was deactivated LONG ago, but still worked on wifi etc. My little fella uses it for simple games etc, but at some point the sim came out and we lost the little bracket thingy that it sits in - i believe that's needed right ? its been so long.
So today after numerous reboots, I simply could not get it factory reset, so I ended up following some great guides here to unlock then load the stock rom on there - I chose the Telstra AU version for 601 as it was the only version that sounded right for me.
That all went great and easy, however, without a sim, on startup im getting the "Tablet is not provisioned ... " error, and there is no way to unlock it.
So a number of questions - will stock rom simply not work at all without a sim ? I tried to 'fastboot oem unlock' and boot up like that to no avail.
If it won't work without a sim, is there a quick and dirty custom rom that is stupidly easy to install ? I like how easy it was to load the stock rom - if there is something like that great, otherwise the instructions i've seen for custom roms seem a little too much for my time.
Any pointers appreciated - i just need to get it back to usable for a 7 year old with games - it would be nice to install custom rom with latest android so that he can play some of the newer games, but not if its tricky and will take too much of my time - in that case i'm happy to just use stock if i can get it working without sim.
please can anyone at least advise whether this tablet with stock rom should work or not without a SIM ? (obviously 3G version AU)
