Anyone find any aftermarket back covers that snap in, eliminating the original back cover? If not are there any cases which fit over the sides, but eliminate the back cover for a more thin profile?

Anyone used one of those? Or have a link to others not aluminium?

Yes... yes it will..... case + original backplate is defiantly going to be bigger than a case built into a replacement backplate

Yes that looks very nice. I wonder if the aluminum will affect any of the antennas, or if they work out of the sides where the metal surround has a break.
The only ugly thing is why did they have to put that incredibly cheesy Note 4 logo on there?!?
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ultr...ing-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note4/32240858329.html
little cheaper, $5.57 with free shipping, there is a 10pc bulk also http://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pc...one-Case-housing-For-Samsung/32240973315.html only $27.89 thats $2.79 each if you want to resell those things.

I have a CDMA diamond, and have searched high and low for an aluminum battery cover. My first thought was this might interfere with reception, but I also have a razr with internal antenna which has aluminum back cover. I work outdoors, and am kinda hard on my phone. I have already broke one of the tabs on the plastic cover, and am looking to upgrade. Some nice anodized covers would sell like fire. Anyone seen anything like this?
I would be keen for something like this as well... I have dropped my phone once and all it did was scratch the battery cover, it spoils the phone. Is it even possible to buy a replacement HTC cover?
I would suggest you buy the official extended battery BP-E270.

yeah, i second that. aluminium cover will be a great accessory to my touch diamond. especially it's white and has light greyish aluminium ring which would perfectly match with aluminum back cover.
Hi,
I was wondering, how do you check if your Diamond is CDMA or GSM?
Cheers,
Idree
I was thinking of this ages ago, a metal back cover with a brushed finish would look great and we wouldn't have to worry about the scratches and stuff. I looked a bit but couldn't find one
Now I just have an Invisible Shield over the back so it doesn't get scratched but metal would be so much better.
You won't find aluminium cover. You will find, though, aluminium case. I've seen it. Just search the net accessory shops.

Aluminium cases are pretty ugly though, and the phone will be like twice as thick :/
And that's why life is an art of teh compromise... Yep, they ar not pretty, but I think they do their job. I bought the ugly black silicone case, and my diamond doesn't look good, BUT this cover already helped quite a few times...

Yeah, iv'e seen these and not real interested in them. The ideal thing would be the aluminum battery cover, same size as oem, and invisashield to protect the front....now if I could only cast aluminum......
Anyone found any replacement backplates for the Galaxy S yet?
Looking for one that isn't coated in Teflon like the stock backplate. Don't really want to put it in a silicon case, I would rather cover it in skateboard grip tape, I hate silicon cases that much.
Thanks in advance.
check ebay for the zenus cases
just type in "zenus cases" to pull them up -for some reason using "samsung galaxy" doesnt
Cheers mate, looking for a direct replacement of the battery cover/backplate, but glad to know the Zenus cases are on eBay.
sorry - brain hiccup - thought i'd posted that in another thread
getting old ain't for pansies
ten chars!!!
Yeah I want one that isn't quite so slippy in your hand, ordered a Zenus case, but there will be times when I want to use it out of that, and at the moment it's really easy to drop.
Brando often sells replacement housings, I'm sure it won't be long till they do the same for the sgs.
link
hmm a replacement backplate would be nice
im thinking in the line of higher capacity battery with slighly thicker backplate to accomodate the thicker battery and get rid of the bump on the bottom part at the back
a thicker backplate will also recess the camera lens protecting it from scratches
i also find that the very thin profile of the galaxy s makes it difficult to hold sometimes. a thicker backplate will also make it easier to handle
if only

I want one of these for the SGS...
http://shop.brando.com/iphone-4-bamboo-case_p04689c0304d004.html
Yeah it's cool how many cases you can already get for the latest iphone while for the SGS there still isn't a single decent case available in the US or Europe The Korean stuff that's a ***** to order and takes 2 weeks to get anywhere doesn't count.
I don't like Apple but sometimes they seem to be the only ones that just get really simple **** like 'hey maybe they want a case for that $600 smartphone so let's make some!' Or 'OK, we just designed our best phone ever, let's spend an extra dollar and not put a flimsy piece of plastic on the back.'
It's just so simple.

second that!
3000mAh with a 3mm+ cover will be perfect!
This could be a money spinner for Samsung .You want a white SGS, just buy a white back cover.Or you want a grippier phone, buy a rubberised cover.
Would be kinda cool to be able to change the look/feel without having to resort to silicon covers.
A rubberized back would be a dream. I want one now

This is an excellent idea.
Samsung has already sold more than 1M Galaxy S phones and continues to sell well.
This means that decent accessories should not be that far behind.
I'd buy the hell out of an aluminum replacement backplate for by Vibrant. 'Twould be quite sexy.

Haha, looks terrible
Yeah looks like the normal one covered in tipp-ex!
But its not the original one, because there is a round circle which has not the same height like the cover (same position where the google logo is, you see it in the first ~10secs).
Samsung offered alternative cases: http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/...l&subsubtype=cases-holsters&tab=accCompatible
But now, the cases just fit for "captivate" only. Dont find any cases for the standard galaxy anymore
I want a case which give more holdness... But i dont want a cover, because i like the thinness atm

Highly reccomend the Verizon OEM kickstand case, adds "just enough" bulk to the phone to protect it, fit finish is excellent, and it provides a very functional kickstand! And at less than <$10 on eBay it's a no brainer to me.

But is there a replacement battery door? Not for extended battery but regular size...in metal or graphite or some sort
Manufacturers don't really make battery covers for the regular battery, but Aaron636r (his thread should be in this subforum) is selling stickers for the battery cover and also a carbon-vinyl covered battery cover as well. Might want to check that out. His thread his named 'made my own vinyl cover'

I checked out his sticker and it looks very good, but the main purpose for me was to add weight without modifying or putting a case...but I guess that's unavailable. Ill just go ahead and buy the OEM carbon print Kickstand case for the design and some extra weight. Thanks for the help!

I have that case and I love it cause it's pimp!
I would love to get a titanium replacement battery cover for my Fascinate. Gorilla Glass up front, Ti on the rear (instead of cheap plastic).
That would be awesome.
The kickstand case that was first posted is wayy better looking than the OEM one imo
Would also like to replace the chromed plastic trim ring around the front with a titanium part, though it would probably be less shock absorbing. I dropped my fascinate on a concrete sidewalk once and now it's dinged on the corner. No other apparent damage, thank goodness!
would love to have those covers with kick stand unfortunately it wont fit on the car cradle
that ****ty silver metal looking paint...i actually carefully chipped it off well at least the cover coat and used nail polish remover with q tips and a towel and got all of it off leaving this shiny black plastic. looks fantastic.
i think there is a thread about doing it but id didnt want to use sandpaper and brush away the shine of the plastic underneath. i noticed that with places that the cover coating of the silver paint got chipped off (around the mini usb, headphone jack, and a spot where it dot nicked off) it chips off fairly easy. try at your own risk though
ive tried so many cases and havnt found one i liked yet. none of them fit in my pocket
id like to see a battery cover replacement specially glass that would be bada$$
Just wondering if anyone has purchased one of these and if so how is, does it add alot of protection, how much thickness does it add, I dont want to pay $17.99 for just a back cover, pictures with it on would be appreciated

So this is a cover to cover the cover! Where does it end? A cover to protect the cover that protects the cover??? Makes little sense to me, but that's just one man's opinion.
I purchased it and it's my favorite of the S-View cases, having tried the official one and the YESOO cases. It protects the phone well and actually stays closed!

Yes, since the S-View is mainly just a front cover this protect the back because the S-View does not.

I think you'll have to await for Devil Case to come up with the goods for this. Going by my z3c experience it took over 6months from the phones availability for the case to become available (albeit not in its masses.)
DevilCase Sony Xperia Z3/Z3 Compact Aluminum Alloy Protective Bumper (Sony Z3 Compact, Black) by DevilCase http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00SUWYDSK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_udp_awd_3J4gwb9Z7EXYR
(Mind you its not rounded as such, edgy, but hands down most superior protection amongst all competitors in this category.)
For now, the Fusion Orzly @hispanico mentions above is the nicest for the limited choice you have currently. I tried this on my z3c.. Offers great protection and prevents the phone slipping drastically compared to the naked device. However I personnaly found it made the device a little too clunky for my liking. But its a great choice offering the best protection for now.
I'd like a TPU bumper, something to add some grip and protection without having to cover the rear of the phone.
If somebody knows about one, please tell me.

If so,
How is the grip compared to the phone naked? (Never has aluminium bumper before).
And what about the size? Is it slim?
Sent from my E5823
Yes, that's the case. I'll try to update when I get the case. I should get it in the next couple of days.
Definitely agree. Like I mentioned in the other thread, the phone is too slippery. I like to use the phone one handed and have to balance my hand between gripping it tight enough so it doesnt slide (which is fairly tight) and keeping it loose enough that my thumb can reach the left top corner. ust over the past few days, I've noticed some strain on my hand from having to maintain the grip (not too tight, not too loose).
I have the Orzly Fusion. I wonder if I could take off the back plastic some how. It would be good to have some protrusion out the back to protect the back glass too. Ofcourse, this sounds great in my head, but I bet if I try to modify the case it will turn out ugly and ruined.

I have the same case and going to try to remove the plastic back when i get my balolo back skin. if it don't work ill just buy a new one will report back.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing. the issue I see is it will leave too much of a extra hanging over the back due to the thickness of the plastic. Unless you plan to just slice through the bumper to get the back off.

So today i recived the balolo back cover, unfortunately they messed up and made the cut outs for the z3 compact... But i cut of the top part of the cover and applied it anyway. Now to the orzly bumper, i did remove the plastic back and it does fit around the z5 pretty good. The only problem is that it's clearly not made to work just as a bumper cause it is a little bit loose around the edges, so i don't recommend removing the back but it does work
I guess they have a smaller lip in front to keep the phone from falling out the front but dont need one on the back since the backing holds the phone in.

There is a lip at the back as well so it stays on the phone, but the "frame" is a bit too big.

i have that case, it feels alright, but it makes using the fingerprint scanner hard as the bumper causes the scanner to be even more depress and harder for your fingerprint to fit and be scanned easily. the buttons are just attached to the tape/cushion on the bumper and it messes with my already bad reception
also does not have a lip to protect the front of the phone in the event of the phone landing face down
