Anyone found any replacement backplates for the Galaxy S yet?
Looking for one that isn't coated in Teflon like the stock backplate. Don't really want to put it in a silicon case, I would rather cover it in skateboard grip tape, I hate silicon cases that much.

Yeah I want one that isn't quite so slippy in your hand, ordered a Zenus case, but there will be times when I want to use it out of that, and at the moment it's really easy to drop.
Brando often sells replacement housings, I'm sure it won't be long till they do the same for the sgs.

hmm a replacement backplate would be nice
im thinking in the line of higher capacity battery with slighly thicker backplate to accomodate the thicker battery and get rid of the bump on the bottom part at the back
a thicker backplate will also recess the camera lens protecting it from scratches
i also find that the very thin profile of the galaxy s makes it difficult to hold sometimes. a thicker backplate will also make it easier to handle

Yeah it's cool how many cases you can already get for the latest iphone while for the SGS there still isn't a single decent case available in the US or Europe The Korean stuff that's a ***** to order and takes 2 weeks to get anywhere doesn't count.
I don't like Apple but sometimes they seem to be the only ones that just get really simple **** like 'hey maybe they want a case for that $600 smartphone so let's make some!' Or 'OK, we just designed our best phone ever, let's spend an extra dollar and not put a flimsy piece of plastic on the back.'
It's just so simple.

This could be a money spinner for Samsung .You want a white SGS, just buy a white back cover.Or you want a grippier phone, buy a rubberised cover.
Would be kinda cool to be able to change the look/feel without having to resort to silicon covers.

This is an excellent idea.
Samsung has already sold more than 1M Galaxy S phones and continues to sell well.
This means that decent accessories should not be that far behind.
I'd buy the hell out of an aluminum replacement backplate for by Vibrant. 'Twould be quite sexy.

Yeah looks like the normal one covered in tipp-ex!
But its not the original one, because there is a round circle which has not the same height like the cover (same position where the google logo is, you see it in the first ~10secs).

But now, the cases just fit for "captivate" only. Dont find any cases for the standard galaxy anymore

Hey all,
I ordered 2 of these last week from Hong Kong for me and my girlfriend.
This case is very nice looking and has several colours available.
It feels very well built and feels nice when holding it in your hand also adds a little more grip.
However this case is simply for style and will not protect your phone, it would maybe protect it from very light drops but your phone will not be protected from very high drops.
On the back of the phone there is a very nice gold Galaxy S logo which also looks great.
So guys don't buy this if you look for protection, instead only for style like me lol

I had one of those gel cases before as thats what I used on my HD2 and it was great on that phone but I really struggled with the side buttons on the Galaxy
Are these cases hard or soft? And how well do they fit? Will the phone fall out if I flip it upside down and hold onto the case only? Is it tight enough to where the plastics don't rub against each other and scratch the phone? Also, it looks like it stays put by gripping down on the chrome edges, like most cases for the Galaxy S. Is it safe to use the chrome edges as a latch for the case? Because my chrome edges squeak and feel loose in certain spots and I think they are simply just glued on and not adhered to the phone strongly. Also, how much better of a grip does it give the phone? Because the phone is quit slippery/oily as it is without a case.

Totally agree that this Mess case in very nice... and slim fit(perfect fit), I have a black one i ordered from Korea Im very satisfied with the case= just what i was looking for, a case that protect my phone from scratches and its very stylish.

2. Perfect fit

Have to agree with this, tbh this is the best case I have had on any phones that I have owned.
Oh and btw it takes about 5-7 days for it to arrive from HK to the UK incase anyone wanted to know

I ordered the same one in red, so I am thankful, that it seems to be very decent!
I didn't order it for protection though... or against scratches... I ordered it because I hate the plasticy feel of the normal backcover :/

got it some time ago,i'm very satisfied with it,it has a double protection layer (hard plastic+gel) and it still looks slim. i like it 'cause it gives a nice rugged look to the sgs. tried a lot of other cases,hard cases,silicone gel,TPU..this one brings the best from all worlds imo.

Highly reccomend the Verizon OEM kickstand case, adds "just enough" bulk to the phone to protect it, fit finish is excellent, and it provides a very functional kickstand! And at less than <$10 on eBay it's a no brainer to me.

Ah...I like the one that I mistakenly found, but that thing is only $5 so I guess ill skip a big mac and buy that one to see how it holds up.
But is there a replacement battery door? Not for extended battery but regular size...in metal or graphite or some sort
Manufacturers don't really make battery covers for the regular battery, but Aaron636r (his thread should be in this subforum) is selling stickers for the battery cover and also a carbon-vinyl covered battery cover as well. Might want to check that out. His thread his named 'made my own vinyl cover'

I checked out his sticker and it looks very good, but the main purpose for me was to add weight without modifying or putting a case...but I guess that's unavailable. Ill just go ahead and buy the OEM carbon print Kickstand case for the design and some extra weight. Thanks for the help!

I have that case and I love it cause it's pimp!
I would love to get a titanium replacement battery cover for my Fascinate. Gorilla Glass up front, Ti on the rear (instead of cheap plastic).
That would be awesome.
The kickstand case that was first posted is wayy better looking than the OEM one imo
Would also like to replace the chromed plastic trim ring around the front with a titanium part, though it would probably be less shock absorbing. I dropped my fascinate on a concrete sidewalk once and now it's dinged on the corner. No other apparent damage, thank goodness!

that ****ty silver metal looking paint...i actually carefully chipped it off well at least the cover coat and used nail polish remover with q tips and a towel and got all of it off leaving this shiny black plastic. looks fantastic.
i think there is a thread about doing it but id didnt want to use sandpaper and brush away the shine of the plastic underneath. i noticed that with places that the cover coating of the silver paint got chipped off (around the mini usb, headphone jack, and a spot where it dot nicked off) it chips off fairly easy. try at your own risk though

Damn,i see it has now dropped $2 since i bought mine.
Personally I am going to wait and see if an extended battery turns up with a replacement back panel. No point in getting a case if one does turn up and prevents it fitting in it.
The way the camera section is raised above everything else should give room for a larger battery without making it too much thicker. I love the styling of the O3D, but I would have preferred to lose the raised section in favour of a bigger battery.
seriously don't get the original kick stand case from lg it's a piece of crap. In fact it gave my lgo3d few scratches and it just looks cheap and terrible. The kickstand does not open probably and I had to
pull like a ox to open the kick stand that i was afraid i break it. I gave up and just returned that piece of crap. it was made completely from cheap plastic and the kickstand had a terrible silvery finish like supposed to look like metal or something. Design fault as well. how am I supposed to charge and put on the kickstand? Will use as pouch with self cleaning innards for the screen

I have the original kick stand case from LG too. Very disappointed in it. How come they made that in cheap plastic and so slippery. It feels like the phone gonna drop at anytime. I'll waiting for the korean cases arrive to see if those are better. They look promissing to me.

I must say very nice too not much weight to it but fits like a love the back is solid and the sides rubber.
Both me and the missus have this phone. We have tried several covers each but we just got the "wave" style cases of eBay. These are a very good fit and have a really nice "no slip" feel in the hand. They are less than £3 including postage in the UK.

How "soft" is this case? I bought this case http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ALNACO and it is too soft: i.e. it comes off when putting it in my pocket, the sides pull away too easily. I want a case that fits very snugly and doesnt "peel" away too easily. I dont want something that slips on and off too easily.
So how does yours feel in regards to that?
I got the case mate barely there .. and I finf its coolbut its expensive though..

Looks like a decent alternative to Element Cases. Strong product line for the S4 listed at their site.
That looks really ugly in my honest opinion. It takes away from the s4 completely.

Can you check something out for me, can you place two quarters/similar sized coins, on the back of your phone witht he case on and see if it could fit. Also try two methods one witht he coins side by side with top to bottom around the battery area and the other stack on top of each other and place it right where the battery is on the phone. If the case can take that much space i would buy it.

I just bought this case and find it the most attractive, stylish and best made case I have ever used on my S4. For me, It totally transforms an ok looking plastic phone to one that goes beyond an HTC One or iPhone. I have always liked the unconventional designs of designer cell phones and this case makes a conventional and somewhat boring phone far out. The fit and finish of the aluminum is incredible. It is very solid with no flex or creaking. The feeling of it in the hand is luxurious. This is what I expect from a $100 case.
I recently bought an Element Eclipse S4 but was not totally happy with it. The Eclipse case is pretty nice but the TPU/plastic lower case and the aluminum bezel do not line up flush with each other. I would expect it to be near perfect on an $80 case.
I have used a number of TPU and plastic cases. that take away from the look of the phone. To me, the phone looks better naked instead of in a plastic case, but I wasn't going to use it without one.
I have noticed some signal loss, but it has 4G where I really need it so its been ok so far.
There are some other impressive aluminum cases, like the ones at casefanatic, but I'll probably use this one for a long while.
So that's my mini review and thoughts on this case. I hope it helps anyone interested in buying one.

I had that for the LG G3. I really liked it.
I always use bumper cases because it does not press on the back cover when I put Qi receivers, and also allow heat to escape from the back.
Is there anyone in here who used this Nillkin bumper case? Please tell us how it is...

its nor what i'd call excessively bulky, but some people might complain over that, the screen is protected with the regular bump on the front part, its quite grippy as the back side remains accessible, the feel of the case is amazing, cutouts are perfect, materials are good, uses bumpy tpu-ish gel-ish plastic on the back and front size for the shock apsorbing, sides are made from strong plastic aswell. Buttons are easily accessible, very easy to press, but doesnt press when putting the phone in the pockets, didnt scratch the phone sides (yet) and its easy to remove even tho its a quite tight fit case.

Thanks, the rubber at the front, is it loose or does it feel like it will loosen up in time? I have ordered one anyway because I like bumper cases. Thanks

Its very tight, it wont loosen as the side plastic holds it at place, its an unibody case tho, so the rubber wont separate from the plastic bit. But its quite good, disallows the specs of dust and sand to get in between the case and the metal bezels of the phone, overall i'm very satisfied with it on that area.
The grip is great, buttons work very well and it lets heat escape.
I own two spigen, uag and many cheap ones.
I prefer this one any day.
I bought the gray first. Loved it except the front part is gray.. I thought it was black like all the others with the colors on the back.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I bought the orange and I absolutely love it.
I like it so much. That I already bought the other two colors, red and blue.. ?

I bought it from one of those china sites. Dx etc
I think it was aliexpress, not sure.
It's probably the same thing from ebay.
Many vendors selling the same thing.. Just pick one with good reviews

About 8.27$ on ebay, got mine for the aprox same price
