What are some good Kernel/CPU tweaking apps?! - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just want to mess around, all I know of is ROM Toolbox that can modify the CPU/Kernel but VERY LITTLE tweaking, and Trickster as well, but the design is kind of outdated and sometimes settings don't stick at all.... So I ask you guys, what are some good apps to tweak the Kernel/CPU? Thanks!
**Please do not say KT Kernel/KTweaker!**

Rom toolbox pro, trickster and kernel tuner are the top 3 imo

ROM Toolbox is VERY limited, Trickster doesn't save my changes sometimes, and I guess I'll check out Kernel Tuner (never heard of it).. anything else you can think of/recommend?

None that I can think of atm. I have the same issues with trickster but it seems to be the best option imo. I've been running stock kernels so I don't use one right now

Help! SetCPU

Setcpu FC's on me everytime i open it. Also at startup which option should i choose. There are a bunch of different phones (g2x not listed)
Not sure about the FC thing but you should choose the option that says something about Tegra 2.
G2X CM7
use recommended settings. and if your kernel doesnt oc you probably dont need to use setcpu.
No tegra 2. Theres [ARM] and [Custom frequencies] in running Faux's kernel

You can still use it to setup profiles. I run a screen off profile to keep the processor speed down when the screen is off. Helps with battery life.
G2X CM7
When you FIRST run the app it asks you to select an option out of like 10 and they're all different proccesors. Which should i select. I selected custom and [ARM] and they both FC'd after i hit them

[Q] Sensation chip is not on the list of SetCpu 2.2.4

Sensation chip is not on the list of SetCpu 2.2.4 even though the post say yes.
Can't find MSM8X60. And I can't change the speed. Maximum is only up to 528MHz no longer 1.5GHz... Help!
OK, first off, this should be in q and a section. Second, did you select autodetect?? I use setcpu regularly and always use the autodetect option.

Your kernel probably doesn't support it.
Which ROM/Kernel are you using?

This. Most custom kernels in here work just fine.

Yeah, you're most likely using a stock kernel that doesn't support over clocking and under clocking. Usually is the case when that happens with setcpu

Well, I'm using stock rom. There's no autodetect options for me to choose. If I want change back to normal frequency then how to do it?

Hi, I'm using stock rom. I must use custom rom to use the setcpu app?
I'd recommend flashing a custom rom, as you get far more options to choose from - more freedom as well. If it truly does become clocked at 500ish Mhz, just uninstall SetCPU and you should be set.

My Linux version is 2.6.35.13-gedc56fa([email protected])(gcc version 4.4.0). Looks like I'm in deep trouble now. About this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159206 how to push the kernel module to my device? Will this solve my problem?
the only way you will be able to overclock you're device is by rooting then flashing a custom kernel...

What is a Good Kernel for ViperS 1.1.0 & How to change Kernel Settings?

Been flashing Custom Roms & Kernels insanely these few days trying to get the most perfect Custom Rom and Kernel. I have decided to use ViperS 1.1.0 as my main Custom Rom, I'm now deciding which Kernel best go with it and that's it, I can finally starting doing my stuff on my phone instead of searching for Roms and Kernels everyday to flash. Lol, after rooting my phone, I haven't like used it yet at all, all I did was looking for Custom Roms and Kernels to flash to find which best for me.....
Well anyway, can a ViperS 1.1.0 user please tell me which Kernel is good? I'm looking for a Kernel that has good battery life and a bit good performance. I have tried many Kernels but can't notice the difference between them.
Also how would I change the Kernel's settings? Like if I want to change the Governor, how would I change it?
Thanks in advanced! I'm kinda new to Kernels.
Here's a good one its Sebastian Fm #1 and there's mod that you can download for it also and it is kick ass http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424345

Yeah, I've seen many people say that Sebastian's kernel is best for ViperS 1.1.0. But when I download Sebastian's kernel and install it, it doesn't have an installer for me to choose options from? It just installs it and that's it, how would I like change the settings for it?
You can use a mod that goes with the Sebastian kernel, this is what I did. Its supposed to help battery life. Check out the mods and you will find it. Best wishes.

As some people already said, Sebastian`s kernel is very good. His kernel + as much Undervoltage as is stable for your phone should make a good performance with good battery life I`m plaaying Dead Trigger with Tegra effects enabled, and no lags with -75mV, but you need to find out what UV level is good and stable for you
and BTW guys, what mods are you talking about? I looked at his thread and didn`t find any mods. Do you mean that OC and ZRAM or there are any other mods?

For kernel settings such as govs and uv, you can use an app such as system tuner. It allows you to change a multitude of kernel settings, including clock speed.
sebastian fm is good kernel... +1
I am talking about all from my signature
Sebastians kernel doesnt offer any options to choose as I know.
The same with MOD Take Control - but you may change some things by System Tuner app.
There is a link to a MOD for seb's kernel in the viper thread, posted not so long ago. It allows you to change a whole bunch of stuff for his kernel such as uv and even second phase frequencies. It's a seperate zip you flash after flashing the kernel itself.

Can I use Overclocking kernels on a Stock Touchwiz S3

I don't want to put a custom rom on my s3, I just want it plain stock and rooted (and maybe a little bit more performance) but yea..

Yes.
Also setting window transitions to 0.5 in developer options will make your stock launcher much Snappier.
You'll want to install setcpu with any kernel you flash to allow governor and scheduler choice. There are also free options available, so do some research on that subject and you'll be good to go.
