I finally got my Otterbox Defender through work for my i727r (Rogers version)
It's kind of a funny thing. As we know Otterbox adds a lot of protection at the cost of sleek looks and a thing phone.
The Otterbox Defender is a monster in this case. They seem to have fixed the tabs that hold the case to the belt clip. They are no longer flimsy little tabs that can break off but looks to be more of a solid moulded piece of plastic.
They have also seemed to use a much more ridged rubber and seems a bit higher quality then the Iphone 4s, HTC series Otter Boxes.
As usual we find a screen guard on the front and the usb port and headphone jack are both covered. The belt clip is massive and solid as always, also the belt clip is also a stand which is always a fun feature.
My personal opinion is it does bulk up the phone a lot and you loose the really nice design aspects of the phone. That said you know you are protected! The place this really helped me most is actually texting it keeps my palm away from the number and symbol sign when I am texting. I use to get numbers and symbols randomly showing up in my texts but not any more.
Over all it's a great case if you don't mind loosing the sleek lines of the Sky Rocket i727
would you mind snapping a pic of your skyrocket in the case? i'm debating between the defender and the commuter
I've got the same dillemma too. I'd like the Commuter case more for less bulkiness, but I also would like the holster that the Defender case has.

I also got a defender for my skyrocket. I also had one for the iPhone 3GS. I am impressed with the quality of the rubber, as the op said. The various cameras (front and back) do not have the plastic shielding, which I was disappointed about as dust as already accumulated over those areas and I could generally clean my 3GS with a bit of alcohol. I am also concerned about the phone overheating - I noticed that it got quite hot when I first placed it in the case.
As the op said, it's a bulky, but your phone won't get damaged.
I actually really like the Otterbox Commuter. I don't need all the protection that the Defender offers, sooooo i turned to the Commuter. It doesn't really add that much bulk, and i think it looks great on the phone. Only con I have is that you have to push a little harder on the volume rocker and lock button at first. It has softened up over time though.
I have the commuter. I got it for free as part of a bundle deal after I complained to the AT&T store that I wanted a discount on the phone (which they didn't give me, but I figured getting the overpriced protective case, screen guard and car charger was as good as it was going to get.)
Overall I have to say it's good. It does make you forget how svelte and light the Skyrocket is, but overall I have a lot more faith that this will survive a fall down the stairs than my old N1 did which basically just had a standard glove case on it. Still it isn't without it's flaws. I often find myself pushing harder than I'd like on the side buttons in order to get them to register. Also, as I mentioned before it feels like it doubles the weight and bulk of the phone. Still, for me it's basically a necessity after what happened to my N1.
It gets my recommendation.
Wish there were a way to purchase the Commuter case locally (though AT&T does have the Defender in store)...seems like the only places selling are online. I know it'd make me much more likely to buy if I can put it on the phone and actually feel what its like...guess pictures will have to do for now...
I got my commuter from Amazon and I've had it for a few days.
Pushing the buttons is a bit of a pain but I found that if you push with your nail, rather than the pad of your finger, its a little easier.
Every once in a while I get a bit of a bulge by the charging port.
I miss the slim ness of the phone but I know it'll handle drops a lot better, so its worth it.
Plus it doesn't look too bad.

It seems when you use a case like this, the button pushes will become easier as time goes by.
The defender case is an awesome case for protection. It covers the micro usb and headphone jack just in case you might get caught in the rain or splashed unexpectedly. The only issues I have with the case are:
1- Trying to drop down the notification area. You need to get your finger right up at the top of the screen. Not a big deal, but just an observation.
2- Basically like my first complaint but when trying to move icons/widgets from one page to another it is a little bit of a pain to get the icon/widget to the edge of the screen but if you use motion control it makes it much easier.
3- (My last one) I've had otterbox defender cases since the OG iPhone so I know this from experience....dust and small debris DO make it under the built in screen protector so you must take the case apart and clean underneath it. Even though the phone has gorilla glass, it will get scuffed up, like little nicks in the glass. My dad had his iphone 4 in his otterbox the day he bought it and when we took it out to get a pic of it for ebay, his glass was chipped up. Solution --> Put a screen protector on the screen and then put the otterbox case on. I personally take out the otterbox screen protector just for that reason.
Quick question about the Defender case: is the screen protector built into the case itself, or is it separately applied? I have a screen protector on mine currently, and wouldn't see the purpose of adding another on top of that. Thanks!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
Yes, the defender case has a built in screen protector. I just bought one last week and have been using it.
Sorry don't have a camera at home to snap a pic. I will do it tomorrow at work though. The reason there is no screen protector over the camera is it would cause a softer image from the camera.
With the built in screen guard I clean inside once a month usually with most otterboxes. The bonus on this one is they changed the design of the inner plastic making it nice and easy to take it off
Kind of surprised that no one has mentioned the Impact case from Otterbox.
I picked it up along with the Defender case for my dad when it was buy one get a second case 50% off. If anyone is looking at the Defender I personally recommend straying away. At $20 I am suuuure you could find a $10 case just as good.
I have both the Commuter and Defender for my Skyrocket and they both are high quality and protect the phone well, although do add a fair amount of bulk.
Has anyone noticed a considerable decrease in battery performance with their defender case? I'm wondering if my phone can't "breathe" properly and is utilizing more battery than if it was not in a case at all. It's a suspicion I've got at this point, but I'm not able to last more than 6 hours of moderate use before having to charge, which is unacceptable in my opinion.
I have not done any testing with the phone outside of the case yet, I'm just curious if other people have seen similar issues.
And for the interest of full disclosure, yes I have been putting custom ROMs on my phone, and that could very well be attributing to the battery problems -- but I'm running a ROM right now that other people agree gives them excellent battery whereas mine is completely sucky.
Nope no more battery drain then normal, I am still getting 2 days easily with the LTE radio turned off. I also run a heavier launcher and animated lock screens and I am still good
I love mine, but i have to be honest, i did remove the screen and wash the glue off due to some lag on the touchscreen
Great Case
I use my SGH I727 in an industrial setting, the Defender series works great. I've dropped the phone several times and it dampens the fall perfectly. It is bulky, but I have massive hands and these days I can't physically hold a smartphone without a bulky case on it. Also I found the screens are really sensitive, and the Defender screen cover balanced out the sensitivity perfectly (it's sensitive enough to function properly, but not to touch things by accident.)
It does not interfere with the radios at all that I can notice. My big worry was that it would prevent cooling, but I've never noticed the phone get hot with it on.
Highly recommended if you need size and protection. I also like the commuter case if you don't need all the bulk.
Took the screen protector off. Way better now
This is my first review & thread, so please go easy. And please forgive me if I posted in wrong place.
Last year, I purchased the Trident case Kraken series for my tmo S3. After going through diffrent gel & hard cases and pouches, and reading reviews & watching drop-tests, I knew this was the case for me. I was right.
The case is a tank, plain & simple. After several drops & the occasional throw by my 3-year-old nephew, there still isn't a mark on it. It's sturdy, and looks like new. My only gripe was that I felt there should be more padding on the four coners of the case for extra protection.
Overall a excellect case. Until now.
Fast-foward to this year. Before I bought my S4, I purchased another Trident Kraken case. I left it in the package until I got my S4, then put it on. Right away I noticed:
1. Instead of a separate screen protectior you apply, they added it built-in on the front part where you hook the belt clip. While I think it's a great idea, the flim they used has a rainbow effect and it's a fingerprint & oil magnet. Even after using two electronic cleaning wipes, it still looks awful. Plus, the sensors & the front-facing camera are not covered.
2. The material on the side where the belt clips on is easily scratched (see pic). There is padding on the four corners of the case, which is good, but why did they put it on the clip's sides too?
3. On my S3, when you put the clip on, it snaps on no problems. But on the S4, I have to be careful not to scratch it further.
4. This case is hard to take off. I know this is to discouraged people from constently removing it, but on my s3, it take 2 mins tops to remove because you just snap it on/off. The S4 however, you have to grab the corner, then another one, and basically pull it out. I don't like doing this because of how fragile the phone is.
Despite this, I still like Trident. I just wish they did a better job. Thank you for your time.
the belt clip + reattachment process is the very reason i returned the case.
its a *major* hassle and i had no confidence doing it blindly as i do now withe the otterbox defender.
the case itself it awesome, but ffs, that beltclip is nasty.
Been having mine on for about a week now,..at 21 bucks shipped I couldn't pass that deal up(cheaper than the bs case I got from AT&T when the S4 first came out) I really like this case , as far as it being hard to take on and off,I had an OtterBox commuter on my S3, and to me that was harder to take on and off and was only a 2 piece case ,...I was leaning towards the OtterBox defender were or this....(both were 50 bucks when I was wanting to purchase, but OtterBox kept getting delayed and then the trident kraken pops up for 20 bucks well that made for an easy decision lol)...., for good phone protection this case is awesome, you can literally throw the phone across the room against a wall and nothing will happen, very cool case,.. about the screen protector, maybe you should contact them, mine is very clear ,..the ONLY complaint I have is the notification bar is a little harder to get 2 , ..but aside from that,I love it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
I had one for my EVO to use when hiking/geocaching, no worries if it got dropped, muddy, light rain. Got one on the way for the S4 for the same reason. Might be a pain sometimes and not something I'll use daily, but hard to beat for all around protection from the elements.
Hi folks,
Just wanted to share my experience with this new case that I got last week, it's called Crusta, made by Amzer, I have used Amzer products in the past, but this case is something very different from their regular stuff I have used in the past.
Since, I have replaced 2 screens on my S5 in last 4 months, I really wanted to get something which protects the device, don't want to spend more money on repairs, initially thought of going ahead with OtterBox but I saw an ad on Facebook for Crusta. Having used Amzer in past, I ordered it (even got 25% off part of their promotion!)
Really loving the case, it is a bit on the bulky side, but not as much as an otter box, it is right mix of protection and style, they claim it is 6 feet drop proof, it did fall out of my pocket 2-3 times and no visible damage. The thing i really like about this case is that it came with a very nice and tough glass screen protector and a belt clip. Really neat bundle. The back of the case is very nice and stylish with clear backing. Only wished this case was waterproof, but for $45 its a great buy, I got yellow and black combo, but really good color options, lots of them.
If you are looking to get an otterbox, i would suggest you give this a try and save some money!
Have a look here - www.amzer.com/crusta
I will be posting pictures after I manage to get some decent pictures from my second phone

I've been looking for a case/holster combination and just came across this one. I had previously ordered the Seidio Dilex and was not happy with it mainly because it is so slick. The Seidio adds quite a bit of bulk also but I think I'd be ok with that if it just wasn't so slippery. Can you tell me a little about the holster? I need something that holds the phone safely. I prefer holsters that rachet and need a little force to spin around. What do you think about this one?
How'd you get 25% off? I'm interested in possibly ordering one.

Back2School is the code. It shows it right on the top of the amzer page

So I also have the Seidio Dilex and I ordered a Crusta just to see what the differences were. Here's what I noticed aside from what the OP stated:
-The belt clip, where it attaches to the belt, has a lot tension so it grabs tightly
-It is a U-Clip on the clip, but instead of a solid piece it is two "teeth" that wrap underneath the belt
-Phone case seems to fit loosely when the screen is facing out/clips in very tightly with screen facing inward (I prefer screen facing in)**
-The rotating clip looks like a gear assembly. When you turn it, it settles into the grooves and won't spin so it is omni-directional
-Online photos looks like the camera would be touching if laid on its back. The outer edge of the case keeps it from touching so no worries there
-Heart rate sensor is easily accessed and works well. Fingerprint scanner will work, but you will have to be accurate since the rubber has no give
-The Amzer is thicker overall than the Seidio Dilex and probably the exact same width as the Seidio would be if the kickstand went all the way up
**Might just be my case, OP would have to chime in
My overall so far is that I like it, but I want to test out the belt holster more before I wholeheartedly recommend it. The case is good and I love the tempered glass screen protector that came with it. The rubber is not slick at all and has a fake stitching look around the front face for aesthetics I suppose? Also, with this case on it barely fits in my Nathan's runners belt. Granted it is the smallest runner's belt, but with the grippy case rubber around it I won't be able to easily take it in and out to change songs or answer calls after I get it in there.
I'd like to post some pictures, but I need some suggestions of the best place to upload them for posting here? I just wondered what others would use and if you would like any specific pictures I am happy to oblige. I'll do a breakdown and couple of size comparison shots with the Dilex.
Edit: I personally won't be using the fingerprint scanner because as I found out, it you register a fingerprint while the case is on you should be able to unlock it. If you register it with the case off and put the case on, it most likely won't accept the scan. My experience was scanning in a fingerprint with the case on and took the case off to take pictures and it wouldn't take my fingerprint at that depth. If you are never going to take the case off this may work for you. However if you have pre-registered fingerprints and you put the case on you may lock yourself out. Just my experience.

I would suggest this case for sure, though I don't buckle the phone to my waist much, but the holster is really nice and high quality, the clip for rotation is also very smooth but at the same time not 'loose'. The video on their site says to put the phone face in for best results, but even face out is ok, the holster really holds the phone in really well.
My past experience with a seidio case for my S4 wasn't that great either, they tear up after some time and the support team is really not upto the mark. This case is not exactly thin, but it's a lot less than Otterbox, also this case has very very good grip on the TPR ring they have provided, so it won't be slippery like Seidio for sure.

I ordered during the independence day sale, i think they have back to school sale right now, which i'm going to use to order a case for my friend's iPhone 5s for which they have the crusta now. Try code BACK2SCHOOL - might work.
I will try to post some pictures today.
Regarding the Amzer Crusta!!!!
OMG that case is beautiful. Just looked online. That is absolutely a find. Called then and long to order.
Thank you!

I used a Diztronic TPU on my Galaxy Note 3 so I was very happy to see a preorder on Diztronic's website for a full matte version for the Note 4. I preordered on Nov.16 and received the case on Saturday.
My impressions of this case are very positive. The case is slim and fits the phone nicely. Mine shows no bulging or loose edges. The matte TPU does provide some screen standoff on the front side. I measured this at 0.75mm. Mic, headphone, USB and pen holes align nicely and the buttons retain a nice tactile feel with this case. I use a Verizon Note 4 and can confirm that the case I received DOES have a slotted left side mic opening to support the Verizon Note 4. The button covers are molded into the TPU but have pronounced edges, so they are easy to find without having to look at the phone.
I use the YooTech wireless charging receiver insert and the Diztronic TPU fits nicely with this receiver in place. I do not believe it would fit with the factory wireless charging back as the case fits perfectly to the stock phone. The case does have a small raised ridge around the camera lens and small ridges around the speaker. This gives some protection for the camera lens and keeps the case from "sealing" against the table and muting your notification tones. The area around the flash is open and I am able to very reliably get heart rate readings for S Health, something that isn't easily found with many thicker cases.
The TPU material is quite thin. Diztronic's website says 1.6mm and my measurements seem in line with that number. The case does not add much bulk and for sure feels slimmer in the hand all-around when compared to the Spigen Slim Armor I had been using since I got the phone. I'm sure it won't provide the kind of protection that the Slim Armor does, as the cushioning material is thinner, but it sure does feel nice in the hand while offering some level of protection over a bare phone.
One of the things I really like about this case is the matte finished TPU. It feels smooth and slick in hand and does not show much in the way of fingerprints. The matte finish slides easily in/out of your pocket. Diztronic made a good move by relocating their branding to the side of the case, which adds a little bit of grip and keeps the look super clean overall.
Overall, I'm really impressed with the Diztronic Full Matte TPU case for Note 4. It provides some protection for the phone and is a little more grippy in-hand than the bare phone. I like that the screen stands off a bit and the camera lens is somewhat protected. I also appreciate that the full matte finish doesn't collect pocket lint or gunk and doesn't show much in the way of fingerprints. And it looks classy!
I really like the Note 4 as a caseless device. It feels very slim for its size and feels great. Unfortunately, I know I am going to inevitably drop it at some point and want some protection without making the phone too bulky, which is really easy to do. The Diztronic Full Matte TPU feels like it hits that sweet spot for me. Time will tell, but for now I give it two solid thumbs up.
:good: :good:
I purchased this case direct from Diztronic: LINK I expect they will probably be available via Amazon shortly. They are currently showing as available on Diztronic's website in both matte black and matte grey.
Updated to include Verizon mic confirmation and pics attached.
Does it have an elongated mic opening for Verizon users? This is the case I've been waiting for...always a favorite.
Absolutely loved mine for my previous phone. Best TPU cases imo. Looking forward to seeing your pics.
I'll probably pick one up even though I might opt for a more protective case this time around.

Yes, my apologies - I thought I had called that out but must have lost it when editing. The Diztronic Matte TPU DOES have a slot shaped opening which supports Verizon Note 4. My Verizon Note 4 is shown in the pics I've added above.

Thanks for the update! I just ordered one. I've had a Diztronic case for my last 3 phones and have been happy with all of them. I'm sure this one will be no different.
thanks for the review! i've always been iffy with diztronic, yet i seem to get one per each phone i have just to have one lol..
out of all the TPU's i use, they're always the most bulky which i dislike, because i like them thin..but there's NO good note 4 tpu's out there whatsoever. i'm currently using a clear S line TPU, which is good and all, but the mic holes don't line up perfect, and it doesn't fit as well as it could..plus it's clear, and we all know clear starts looking like crap after a few weeks. i've gotten like 4 other TPU's and shell cases and I hate all of them.
diztronic is nice because they do a lip around the camera, which NO tpu's are doing right now, which means your camera is pretty much flush against the surface which i hate...and they also have two little bumps by the speaker to elevate the speaker off the table so it's not muffled! FINALLY, a TPU maker with some sense knocked into em!
either way, i ordered the gunmetal gray because every diztronic i ever got was always black, so i'm looking for a nice change. ordered today, they say those ship out tomorrow the 26th, so maybe I'll get it by saturday or monday with thanksgiving coming up and all. this will be like my 6th or 7th case already for the Note and I've only been using 1 lol
Does it fit with the OEM Qi back?

I don't find the Diztronic bulky at all. The Diztronic for the Note3 was very rounded feeling, where the Note 4 Diztronic is more squared off and edgy, just like the Note 4 itself. I think you'll like it and the holes line up nicely as pictured above.

As noted in my review, I do not believe it would fit with the OEM back. I say this because it fits relatively snug as-is with the stock back or stock back + thin Qi receiver. But I don't have an OEM Qi back to try it with.

but yeah, my gunmetal gray one is coming saturday! you know what's sad? this one wasn't even out, it was a pre-order, and i'm STILL getting it quicker than this nillkin bumper case i ordered on ebay from Nov 11th. it's from china, yet it's still not here yet. other chinese orders i've gotten took a week, maybe 1.5 weeks. it's over 2 weeks now for this stupid thing and i doubt i'll see it before the diztronic lol

Haha, what's up brother? I really liked my diztronic on my laggy as hell S4.
So I'm hoping to like this one as well. Good luck bro!
Diztronic makes the best TPU cases as far as I'm concerned. I was disappointed when they had to delay the release due to the Verizon mic hole revelation, and ended up going with a UAG case, but anybody looking for a great case for under 10 bucks, this is what you want. I might even pick one up for myself, just in case.
Diztronic is awesome. I had their case on my Note 3, LG G3, and now I'm waiting for the Note 4 case that supports the OEM wireless charging back. They made one for the S5, I really hope they make one for the Note 4!
I ordered mine today. It is only 12 Euro, together with shipping to Ireland, directly from manufacturer's page.
Already have Spigen Capsule and it is great, but flat buttons and flat speaker hole are not perfect for me. Diztronic seems to meet all my requirements. Hope it will appear to be true

I forgot to post yesterday, but I got my black Diztronic yesterday, a day earlier than estimated. It is the best case I've tried so far, although I haven't tried a lot yet.
The fit is perfect, not too loose or too tight. It adds almost no bulk which I really like. The matte black is awesome and feels great in the hand. Not super grippy, but it will do the job. All of the cutouts are perfect. The camera has enough raise that the lens won't touch a flat surface and the charger fits in without the case interfering. The buttons are also very easy to press, no problems there. In fact, the buttons are easier to press with this case on than without it.
The only thing I noticed is that in a couple areas, the frame moves pretty easily if you pull on it. Especially near the charging port. It doesn't sag at all which is great, but I just wonder if it will become an issue over time. Possibly not but that's the only small thing I've noticed so far.
Other than that, this case is fantastic and blows away any Spigen that makes your phone uneccesarily bulky and for less money.
I do also have an official Samsung protective case coming that is supposed to ship next week. I've heard that's also an amazing case, so I will compare once I get that.
I didn't take any pics of my Diztronic since so many great pics have already been posted. But let me know if you would like to see any.
I noticed that Urban Armor Gear (UAG) had available P7P cases on their website, so I ordered one when I ordered the phone on October 6th.
Received the phone on the 12th, but the case had not yet shipped. I sent them an email that they replied to with, "We have 8-10 days to ship orders." A little standoffish, but ok, maybe that person was just tired of answering emails.
Received the case today October 20th. 14 days? Not too bad if I stop comparing everything to Amazon, but a long enough time that I ended up getting a Spigen Ultra Hybrid case from Amazon cause as you all know, the phone itself is quite slippery. It fit and worked just fine but the cutouts in the bottom felt a little sharp, as per usual with Spigen.
Anyhow, when I was looking at the UAG case on the website it looked fairly bulky and I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to use wireless charging but I can confirm that it is charging wirelessly as we speak on a 1st gen Pixel Stand.
The case is a little less rugged than some of their previous ones. As far as back and corner protection, I think it's fine, but what concerns me most is the screen. The older cases (for phones without beveled edges) had a raised lip all the way around them to help protect them but with how the P7P is designed, the case is designed with the curved screen in mind and so it is only protected when placed on an absolutely flat surface.
The corners are slightly raised while the sides of the case thin down below the bevel, which makes sense, but also causes me anxiety because if I drop it, it's basically a coin flip on whether or not the screen survives.
The case itself feels ok. Not great, and definitely not secure as the edges will sometimes lift or push away from the side of the phone as you handle it.
The extra bevel around the camera ribbon is great, and all the cutouts feel nice and smooth.
A picture they don't show you on the website is the top of the case. There is no window or cutout for the antenna area and only a small hole for the mic.
I don't use a screen protector but as far as I can tell, I doubt you would be able to get one to stay on this thing with how flimsy the sides of the case move around and don't really hold tight to the phone. Even the cheap Spigen case held more securely.
I'll give it a few days but as someone who used to love UAG cases back in the Pixel and Pixel 3 XL days, I'm pretty disappointed in this new one.
I noticed they had that case and I thought about it but I stopped buying UAG cases when the Pathfinder for my 8 Plus literally fell apart. Switched to Spigen Tough Armor since and have had zero issues.
EDIT: Actually I think it was my HTC One (M8). Either way, it split at the bottom and I had to toss it.
Everything they said and more. Had it on my phone 1 day....and that was because I was at work with no backup case. Promptly sent it back for a refund. JUNK! Cuts off the screen corners, peels up screen protector, etc. NO THANK YOU!
FWIW, I got this case today: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBFXYPQ2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
It feels like the GOOD UAG cases felt when I used my Galaxy Note 20....much better than the actual UAG case for the P7P. Just wish it also came in other colors....
