I really came to love tinted system bars, the possibility of the status bar adapting its colour to the app. A quick example for anyone not familiar:

I upgraded to Android 5.0 and am missing this option a lot, it makes my screen look a lot smaller. I found workarounds with 3rd party apps for everything else still not integrated in 5.0 (like PIE controls), but could not find anything for TSB. I know XPOSED doesn't work with ART, but I'd like to know if anyone else had found a possible workaround until we get TSB. All I found was info about how to make apps take advantage of this on www.stackoverflow.com, something way too technical for me as of now.
As of now, I think its just a case of waiting for app developers to update their apps to support it in Lollipop. Some apps (mainly Google apps) support it currently - so its definitely still a feature.
There's no method to.force apps as of right now.

Was afraid of that.. Well, back on Mahdi ROM (4.4.4) again where this & PIE is built in the ROM, I like it better than 5.0 (still).
Thanks for the answer!

Well, Since I havent seen this here yet (Maybe I missed it) I thought I would share it with everyone.
Google has just started rolling out an update to the Android Market 3.1.3. Aside from a few slight aesthetic changes, the two main features include the ability to +1 apps and password protect (PIN lock) your Android purchases.
The addition of the +1 button allows you to, obviously, nab +1 apps in the Market while the PIN number feature allows you to securely set up a PIN number for purchases on the app store.

I have installed it and love it and works great and just thought I would share it with everyone that doesnt yet have it or want to wait for the automatic update (If our heros on custom roms will actually update automatically I don't know).
NOTE: Unless you are updating from v3.0 or higher you may need to uninstall the old market updates in order for this to install.
To do so, go to settings/applications/manage applications. Then tap on "all" scroll down to "Market". Tap on the app and select uninstall updates. Once you have done this then go ahead and install the app below.

Enjoy.
Wow, The more I mess around with this and update apps I really like the changes and it seems to be faster too. +1 for Google!
This version definitely seems much snappier! Thank you for sharing

Sometimes reading the FAQ is a good thing
Q: Why not support Android 2.x?
A: Sorry, Android 2.x lacks a core mechanism that Greenify mainly depends on. It's impossible to achieve equivalent functionality in Android 2.x. If possible, please consider upgrading your device to Android 4.x (CyanogenMod is a good choice if no official 4.x upgrade). If you are out of luck in upgrading, you can also try one of the alternative tools I mentioned in the app description of Greenify on Play store, such as "App Quarantine" (for most users) and "Autostarts" (for super users).

Idea was to read whole answer from the Q&A, because there are substitution apps, that do some way or another similar things. I mean the dev of the app should know what is similar to his app.
HI everybody,
Apologies for the thread which might seem like I should have just searched... but I have spent hours reading through the development forum and I am non-the-wiser.
I have just come from a nexus 5, where I absolutely love lollipop. I am after a ROM that is very similar to the native nexus lollipop experience. I don't mind the odd customisation like more options on the power menu etc, or options that are at least not enabled by default, but CM has always been over the top and too complex for me.
Which ROM should I go for? The dev forum looks like a minefield!
Thanks
There's no such thing as a best ROM. The closest you're gonna get to a Nexus-like experience is the OnePlus aosp ROM, but I wouldn't suggest actually flashing that because it causes nothing but problems. Just try the official stock CM12 builds that have just come out.

CM is the least "custom option heavy" Roms you will find I think. Most of the rest add more customizations that are often very helpful.
I'm currently running temasek unofficial cm12 latest version. It's got extra features but your choice to use them or not. I don't make use of all of them either (like the gesture anywhere thing, or the circular app bar when you touch the right/left most side of the phone) but things like center clock mod are awesome to change the look of your phone. And quick pulldown.
I'll attach screen shots to show.
It also has a sick dark theme

Hi
Anyone know of a way that I can disable the lock screen? I finally got my partner to upgrade her GS7 from MM to Nougat and it's all good except that there is no longer the option for no lockscreen
The phone isn't rooted and I have tried a few apps that disables the lockscreen but I assume the phone won't let it run in background because they only work for a short time
Is there a way to change the lockscreen type to none via ADB?
Thanks,

That was what was on it before the upgrade but not now

Strange, that screenshot of mine is running the latest version of Nougat
Do you have secure startup enabled? Maybe another security setting is preventing you from disabling lockscreen security
Nope nothing like that. Was fine before upgrade and now the option just isn't there. Oh well I'll just have to hope to find out why the apps stop working, probably to do with doze.
Thanks anyway

Have you factory reset since the update to Nougat?
Always recommended after a major upgrade as it generally leaves behind bugs, battery drain, and possibly weird things like this
I'd backup and reset the phone because that option should be there
Hey there,
This may seem like a silly question but I dunno maybe not.
Is it possible to switch my Huawei P30 phone into a default Android 10 install instead of Huawei's version of Android 10?
I am just so sick of looking at my white navigation bar in 1/2 of my apps, including my own apps that I design and develop, for some reason Huawei has hardcoded the Navigation bar with a white/gray color. Some apps can override it but most, including my own, cannot. I even bulid the Android 10 Dark Mode demo app from Google. Sync'd it from their repo live in my Android studio, built out the APK and ran it and below is what I get.
I'm ready to just dump their Android 10 implementation and go with a flavorless build.. Is it possible? Or is there any way to override that stupid navigation bar color!??

This would require you to install a custom firmware (like LineageOS) and it's next to impossible to do because we have no way to unlock the bootloader.

Ah I didn't know that. Why doesn't Huawei allow us to unlock the bootloader? We own the device. Seems silly we can't do what we want with it. Is this like something that we will eventually be able to do?
There is no indication it will change anytime soon. Our only option is to vote with our wallet.
