Hello guys.!
I have a xt1032 and since first day in my hands it is coverted to GPE firmware. Now I did the clean 4.4.4 flash and 5.0.1 OTA in sequence.
This procedure upgraded the device bootloader. And im trying to use a custom recovery. Installing Philz, CWM or TWRP presents the same behavior. The recovery boots but its not working properly. The screen keeps flickering, and thats ok for me. The worst thing is that I cant flash any zip package. The recovery seems to flash normally, But after booting android there is nothing flashed.
I think its related to the new bootloader. Is it happening just with me?

I'm using the latest TWRP and it's working fine despite the screen flickering. But it stops flickering after a display timeout

Still not working... :/
But there is one weird thing in bootloader. When I boot to bootloader it shows: SD Checking...No image! (and some letters .img). This shows about 7 times and then it shows selection screen (fastboot/recovery/factory reset/simlock)
Second weird thing is that I have radio 1.10.80.14M3 (I'm from WestEurope), but in RUU isn't the same radio :/
(These things were there before I installed new recovery/stock ROM)
Now, I tried to install the stock rom by immortal yash and it works! So thank you for wasting a time with me

When you flashing the recovery through fastboot its shows any warning message?
When flashing is done just make sure your recovery is working, by entering into the recovery...

I recently acquired a moto g here in india via flipkart that came preinstalled with android 4.4.4 and yes i have the same problem of not getting any recovery to work since all of them boot to a weird black screen with random white lines appearing haphazardly. In fact the closest i have come to getting a proper recovery is when i installed the twrp 2.7.1.1 although it too off started of as black screen with weird lines i left it that way till the screen turned off and once it did, i pressed the power button and voila the recovery had successfully loaded.
However touch and HW buttons weren't working but i definitely reached the padlocked screen of twrp. So i tried another thing i had read on the forums here @ xda that sometimes letting the screen go off in recovery once makes it work but even that didnt work. Now the thing is does the recovery work ? that is in its most essential function taking backups and installing zips yes it does so. But since both the above functions require the actual use of recovery itself which isnt possible so i used twrp app for android and installed it and used that to make backups and install zips; both of which worked. Now it goes without saying root access is must for using of this app and i got rooted using the modaco/paul o'brian superboot method and hence was able to use twrp app. Hope this provides everybody a better clarity on our situation and make the devs for recovery solve our problem. Good Luck.
P.S Downgrading to 4.4.2 wont help as it will give the black screen witnessed on trying to boot into recovery(I already tried that)

So. It must becoz of the incompatibility of the recoveries with the new boot loader/firmware or what ever ?
The bootloader version of all those with 4.4.4 is 41.13. So it must be the issue with recovery.
The root can also be acquired by flashing cwm recovery and installing supersu from playstore.

So today I saw that the 12.1 update is downloaded and asking me to install it. But, when I do try installing it the screen is stuck at the Cyanogen Recovery.
The usual options in recovery screen are displayed, why isn't the OS updating?
FYI - My OPO is rooted and also has TWRP recovery installed. I also tried disabling the Update Cyanogen Recovery option but the same option.
Any assistance would be great

You can't flash the OTA with TWRP recovery. You can either flash the stock recovery and then install the OTA, or you can download the full ROM zip and flash that with TWRP.

You don't need to be a techie to know that the updates must be taken in order. Go to Settings>About Phone, take screenshots of the info there and post here so I can see please.

Give more details. What is your firmware build version. Which version did you download and flashed.
Sent from my OP 5 using Tapatalk
Thank you
Thanks for the reply,
My version seems to be 174 and i flashed the magisk_patched.img for version 189,
Post flash it booted fine, but a lot of things like wifi, BT etc weren't working, also magisk wasn't starting, that's when i realised i made that mistake, and so I went back into fastboot mode and flashed the stock boot.img, but then it stopped booting and has been stuck in a boot loop with the Zenfone logo ever since.

So, i just downloaded the v.189 WW Firmware and flashed it using adb sideload in recovery mode, and now it's booting up fine...
Your bootloop occurred because you flashed a stock boot.img instead of a patched one. As far as I know this always causes a bootloop because the phone is modified and only boots with Magisk patched boot.img

I don't think that was the problem, my phone works fine with both stock boot.img and the patched magisk_pathed.img, as long as they matched with the Firmware Version,
Mine was originally v174 on the Firmware side on which i installed a newer magisk_patched.img which was meant for v189

It was a good opportunity to check if TWRP flashed stock firmware fine... It should, but someone actually confirming it would have been nice.
I flashed the TWRP
After booting It shows twrp for a while then shows white screen

the same exact thing happened to me, you would have to use "fastboot boot recovery.img" to boot into twrp manually everytime until a fix is here
you've flashed a non working or incompatible twrp. mine is working fine but with some issues and i'm still waiting for the official one from twrp. go to xiaomi eu and search for it.
