Hey guys,
On occasion my phone will just shut off at like 30-45% or lower when doing regular tasks (messaging, email etc). Then when I start it up its at 0-4% or won't start at all.
When I plug it in and start it back up it will be at like 40% or around where it was when it died.
I don't know what's causing this and need some help. Is it a third party app? Any known ones that might cause this? Or what could it be?
It only started when i upgraded to lollipop i am running cataclysm lollipop with elemental kernel. It also did this on stock lollipop.
Any help is appreciated.
Your battery's life is gone. Have to replace the battery. Happened same to me.

Hi guys,
So I'm not sure if the term "deep sleep" is correct here, but I'll use it anyway since it highly describes the case.
I bought the Tab 7.7 P6800 a few months back, it was on HoneyComb. 2 days later I upgraded to stock Samsung ICS. So I have no knowledge if the issue I'll describe was on HoneyComb as well or not. All I know is that I've been seeing this since stock ICS.
I moved from stock ICS to Nexus 7.7 then to Paranoid Android 2.22... all showing the same problem. So here goes.
From time to time when I go to use the Tab, I press the power button to wake it up... nothing would happen. Screen stays off and doesn't turn on. After a few quick tries I would hold down the power button to force a reboot.
The device is charged when this happens, and there is no specific duration after which this happens. Sometimes I would go to sleep and encounter this the next morning, and sometimes I'd leave it for lunch and then encounter this problem.
Last night for example when I came to use it, I had to force a reboot. I checked the battery stats under Settings, and this is what I found (screenshot taken today): please check attached screenshot. The red area is from last night.
Are there any logs that I could look into once this happens or any help from anyone around? Has anyone else encountered this? I've seen online posts about the same case but for another tab, the Transformer I believe.
Please do let me know your thoughts or from where to start debugging the problem.
Thanks all
//M
Hi, sorry to hear about your issues. Download logcat and look for Errors, if you have a terminal app installed, try and type: top - it will show you what processes is currently chewing cpu cycles..it might require busybox wich mean root is needed..
I had this issue but on the older Tab7 where the phone part would eat battery even in flightmode, no simcard and IMEI was missing, so flashing a different modem.bin file solved it, but you might have a different problem..
Thanks for ur quick answer.
I'll check the logs and see...

Well, I'm not sure if I've solved the issue or not, but turning auto brightness off seems to keep the Tab in a usable state for the past day or so. Didn't encounter any problems waking it up...

Looking at the attached image, it looks very much the same as mine, screen first 65-75% then android 9% so on.. no irregularities.
Also a try CPUspy so you can see where it hovers, also a betterbatterystat might help, think there is a free version here on xda..
I think https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl / Wake Lock is the answer to anyone facing SODs...

I had similar experience.
I have similar experience with my tab.
It was good when i use P6800XXLQ1_CSC_ATO but it has occur with stock P6800DXLP8_CSC_XSE and SKYHigh rom 4.0. then i have back to P6800XXLQ2_CSC_ATO.
I have to try with others tools with my tab.
thank you...
The best solution so far and this hasn't failed me once for the past month or so, is stock 4.0.4 + EzyICS kernel and setCPU from the Play store! No SODs whatsoever again!!

My samsung infuse randomly shuts off when I plug my phone in to the charger. But it's not consistent. It only happens every once in awhile. It shuts off and then the charging screen won't even show the battery. It will show something like a circle indicating that it's loading and that screen will just keep blinking on and off, as soon as I unplug it the phone powers on. I am using a third-party battery but I also still have the original. I don't know if it does it with the original battery as well. But I will start paying to keep track now.
Try the stock battery.
But also try another charging / USB cable. Maybe a short in the cable you have. Let us know your results

Your not alone in this, i'm having same issue with an infuse i'm trying to sell. i found out that if i press the powerbutton like repeatedly around 5 to 10 times while the circle indicator is showing, the phone will display the green battery charging. I'm on stock firmware too and i believe this may be due to the power button or faulty powerbutton.
since switching back to the original battery that came with the phone I have not experienced any "random power off's" Thanks for the tip.

I am having a similar issue. After bricking my phone, I returned it to stock, used Heimdahl to get the Gingerbread deodexed and rooted version UCLB3 and added the Adrenaline Injector Tweak and the phone is working Terrific. Faster than I would have imagined. I do not have a rom flashed as I am happy with the debloated stock version. However, for whatever reason it shuts down randomly while I am not using it and I then have to plug it into a charger and wait for the on screen battery appears and disappears to turn the phone back on. This occurred when I returned it to stock and continues now. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions or solutions? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Like I posted above I was using an after-market battery. Since changing back to the original battery that came with the phone I have not experienced anymore random shutdowns. Are you using an after-market battery by any chance??

Re: [Q] AT&T Samsung Infuse 4g randomly shutting off
The only thing I can think of, is it has something to do with the adrenaline tweak you say you added to it. My reasoning us because I am also using deodexed stock/rooted ROM just without the tweak and do not encounter this problem. you used option c from the XDa website am I right? If do it's the same one I'm on now. I'd start from scratch and re download everything fresh and reroot the phone try it for a couple days without the tweak and see if that solves the issue then add the tweak and if it starts up again you know whats causing it. That's just what I'd do. I hope this helps

I think Oreo is right. Adrenaline tweak will do that.
Use a root tool like root explorer or adb and delete the /etc/init.d folder or the content.
If you have cwm recovery, flash zen tool kit, remove tweak and apply light tweak.
Re: [Q] AT&T Samsung Infuse 4g randomly shutting off
Thanks for the feed back. Had to try it out for the whole day. I swapped batteries with my son who also had an Infuse and I am happy to say that I have not had the issue in 24hours and nor has he. Thanks for chiming in because these will be steps that I will try if it occurs again.

I have an o3d that has a battery percentage problem it displays what it wants when it wants. Such as 70% one minute an 5 mins later its gone to 0% and shut down making it useless unless on charge. It is not a bad battery as i have 7 various batterys that work fine in my other o3d. I have tried the battery calibration apps which delete battery stats .bin and big surprise it did nothing. So i used link to sd to freeze power off
.apk and now my phone stays turned on even when at 0%! This does cause a couple of problems though such as going through usual shutdown precedure only reboots phone (i dont mind though this is handy to reboot). If you reboot whilst percentage is low it wont restart without inserting charger. Phone can still be turned off by holding power button for approx 10 seconds. The worst problem is when 0% is reached the status bar usually force closes (which is a real pain using android without status bar). And camera and a few apps wont work as battery is always low but at least i can use phone. I have learnt so much from xda so i thaught i would share this in case it can help someone. Please share if this was helpfull and if you have any tips on how to fix errors caused by this.

And also if anyone knows what may be causing my problem in the first place any help would be greatly appreciated. I have already tried a re flash of standard rom and a couple of different custom gb roms. And a custom kernal. I am currently trying to work out how to flash ics to try and fix this properly. I do not know how this problem first occured as i brought this phone off ebay second hand. The problem first occured when this phone was unlocked so i was told. I did notice that even though it was sold as o3d and the sticker on the back confirmed this, that it said p925 in about phone not p920. Not sure if this is related. So again if you have an un-usable phone i hope the above can help you out. And thanks again to anybody that could help fix this once and for all.

My wife got a moto g a few weeks ago on boost mobile - such a nice fast fluid and stable phone, almost the same as the nexus 4.
The problem is that last week it's begun shutting itself off randomly for no reason.
It is fully updated, stock, not rooted, it has no unusual apps installed and still it randomly turns itself off - I'm not sure if just at random while it's sleeping or also during calls, I will double check, but a Google search told me that it isn't a common problem and therefore there was no common solution.
We are not developers and don't know how to do anything crazy with bootloaders or the kernel or anything, so please bare that in mind - is there any simple solution that anyone could suggest that we try?
Thanks so much in advance!
It powers off cause of a safety mechanism to prevent it from damaging phone. Idk what causes it this happened to me once

My right hand took a break long enough to write you this message, and you should be grateful for that.
Hello!
So I finally got the Note Edge and it's a splendid piece of equipment. I haven't done much to it other than adding Nova Launcher. So I put on the Sleep Clock.. went to bed and I woke up twice to check email. The problem is that when I tried to turn it on, the sleep clock was stuck and I had to do a battery pull because it wasn't responding.
Has anyone had this sort of problem?
Thanks in advance for any replies!
Try using TW for while to rule out an issue with Nova.

Hi Kirkla!
Thanks for the reply. Yeah.. even with TW.. it's doing it. I'm wondering if it could be the messaging system that I'm using... I am currently using ... I think it's called CHOMP.
If that dont work, maybe remove all downloaded apps, then reinstall one by one until you find the culprit.

I will try that.
Thank you for your help!
So I've done a factory wipe and installed the programs one by one. During the day, everything seems fine. I've even had the night clock feature running at night. I'm wondering if this is essentially is an issue with the phone........
anyone have any ideas?

You said you were experiencing some lagging. Did you ever install Xposed? Can you check these threads and see if you have any of the other issues mentioned? There seems to be a problem with Xposed on some devices (2 Note Edges, one Note 4 and an S5 (the only one that was fixed), if I recall correctly).

hi all..
to update:
My phone was bad. I ended up getting a replacement for the Edge. The old phone would constantly reboot and freeze throughout the day. It didn't matter if it was in safe mode or not.
Anyway.. thank you for replying!
note edge freezing
Don't let your mobile free from background processes I have same problem in my note edge and I used to disable built in apps thinking that this would make my mobile free from freezing and lagging..but problem dI'd not fixed so now I just install some more apps that and make the cpu working continously aND now it is not freezing or restarting.. strange
You may solve your issue by clearing the cache memory. I had same problem, but now my NoteEdge works perfectly for about 12 hours...
