How can I view and control my SG Tab 2 tablet through my SG2 phone? - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
I am trying to find use for my old devices, recently just had a bambino and im trying to keep him entertained whilst driving and its hard work. I was thinking of mounting my old SG Tab 2 tablet in the back of the car and control its functions via my old SG 2 phone in front, mainly video watching for him to be honest. My SG2 is rooted, I am currently using an S5 but I would like to stick with the older phone if possible.
I have been reading a little into using 'Tablet Remote' but as far as i gather the tablet needs to be connected to a tv.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section. You will need to register on XDA to reply to anyone though.
Good luck!

Tablet Remote doesn't need a tv connected, Just 2 Android devices, here's the steps to use as mentioned in Google Play
1) Installation
Install the Tablet Remote on both devices;
2) Setup
For the receiver device (the tablet), go to the "setup" section and make sure the two options are check by selecting them and by enable Tablet Remote as a keyboard;
3) Connection
Go to the "connection" section and select the device you want to connect.
You'll have a notification on both devices when they connect with each other. If you don't find the other device, you can use the "scan device" and "make device discoverable" commands to make it appear in the list.
Only devices on your local area network (LAN) will be showed with the "scan devices" command. Make sure both devices have Tablet Remote on when you use that command.
If you have problem connecting with the device, try it with the other one or unbind both device and try it again.
4) Control
For the remote device (the phone), go to the "remote" section and you can start controlling the other device! In portrait mode, you'll have the remote setting and in landscape mode, you'll have the gamepad setting.

Gd man thanks for the help, i will give it a go and see how it works out in the car. Kudos

MTP and Gal Tab 7+ on Mac....

Okay, so I just bought a Samsung Galaxy 7.0 Plus Wifi. I have a 16gb microSD card in it (which I can write to thanks to another thread in this forum).
I looked up info on MTP and found that it works seamlessly with Windows, but needs an Android app for Mac. Okay. not optimal, but I can deal. I downloaded and installed "Android File Transfer" (v1.0.16..6656).
I plug my GT+ into my Mac. The tablet says it is initializing MTP, then switches to "USB Connected - MTP-Connected".
Sounds good, right?
When I launch the "Android File Transfer" on my Mac, I immediately get a pop up window saying "No Android device found. Please connect your Android Device with a USB cable to get started."
I've tried rebooting. I've tried different cables and different USB ports (although all of the above work with other devices).
What on earth am I doing wrong???

It does? Ooopps. I've been using it all this time without an app I need? I hate when that happens.
Seriously - at least for Snow Leopard, I'm not using any special apps and it works. I can't remember at the moment, but I might have had to tap the USB icon thing in the notification bar to activate something on the tablet (or maybe that was on my gingerbread phone... I can't remember now, and my mbp isn't available at the moment.)
Get rid of the excess stuff, plug it in... if you don't get the drives available on the mac, tap the USB symbol on the notification bar on the tablet and see if there's an option to turn it on or something...

Well, that certainly is strange. I'm running Lion (v10.7.2), so you'd think it would work there as well.
I tried tapping the USB symbol where it says "USB Connected / MTP-connected". No dice. It just goes away like it isn't really tappable.
You did make me think to look System Information -> Hardware -> USB to see if the system at least recognized the tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus). It does, as you can see by the attached screen cap (the "Android Phone" listed is my HTC EVO 3D, and yes, I've tried this without it being attached.).
Any other ideas?
I have an iMac with Lion and I could never get the Android Transfer App to work. But what does work is an app by Samsung called Kies. Do an app search on the Android Marketplace to find it. You'll find more reviews there, than at the Samsung website.
You will also need Mac version of the app as well. Should be at the Samsung site; probably under support, since you're now looking for a Mac app.
While it states that it will connect via Wi Fi, and I'm sure it will, I have my iMac hardwired, so I had to access my Tab7+ using USB. You'll have to try it to see if has the features you are looking for.
G.B.
And remember, talking dogs always lie.
Use the USB ports on the Mac directly
I had this same problem with the MTP-connection message on my Gingerbread Android device (Samsung Galaxy IIS Epic Touch 4G, ...yes, it is a long name! I know.) with no acknowledgement of connection on my Mac Mini running OSX Lion 10.7.4. The curious part was that my Macbook Pro also running Lion was seeing it with no problems at all using the same USB cable.
So finally it hit me, I tried connecting the USB cable directly to the USB ports on the back of the Mac Mini and problem solved! I got on my Mac Desktop two new drives, one for the internal memory and the other one for the microSD card! (Both with read/write permission)
I must add that I was trying it originally through a Belkin powered USB 2.0 hub (7 ports), but apparently something is not working right for the Mac trying to connect to the Android device through the USB hub.
I hope this helps some of you out there!

[Q] Problem with Media streaming to and from PC, PS3 and SII via Allshare.

Hi,
I was hoping that someone here could help me with a problem I've been having for the last few weeks. After launching AllShare on my device for the first time in over 2 months, I noticed it was no longer detecting my PC's media server and thus sharing content.
My PS3 can see my wireless SII fine but the PC can't see either the wireless S2 or the wired PS3. The PS3 can't see the PC either. The PC version of Allshare however "does" see the S2 in the left pane of the main screen but when I go into settings or try running the connection wizard, it says no devices detected?
I've tried disabling the firewall, uninstalling Norton 360 you name it. I've posted on the Windows forums and even the Norton forums and nobody appears to know what is wrong. My PC is running Windows 7 on a Virgin SuperHub. All the networked devices are set to "full share" in Norton 360. One thing I have noticed though is that when I go into "media streaming options" on the PC there's only one item in the the menu. When I select "all networks" from the drop down menu, it shows two unknown devices at the bottom of a long list. I'm assuming these are the PS3 and the S2.
Even though, they're all connect via the same hub, could it be my devices are on different networks if that's even possible? I apologise in advance if I've posted to the wrong forum and I'm not as technically savvy as some of you but posting here is my last resort and any help would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks
E-Nigma
PS I don't want to be installing any new software thanks. I just want everything running the way that it was with what I already have.
The devices must be connected to the same LAN. Is your PC set to allow sharing media in "Control Panel?" NORTON may not be setting it correctly.
Sent from my R800x using XDA
Yes everything is set to sharing within control panel. Stupid question I know but how would I go about finding out if everything is on the same LAN?

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 mini Sixaxis

So I recently just rooted my Galaxy S4 mini mainly for the reason to connect a dualshock 4 to it. I've searched and searched on many forums and videos looking for the best/correct way to do it, and I've tried them all and get the same result. I've used the PC Sixaxis tool and programmed the Bluetooth to my phone, used the Controller compatibility tool to see if it is compatible (it is, and it connected and showed the controller inputs on the screen). But when I went to the main Sixaxis app and did the same process, and it gets to "listening for device" and never connects. I'm seeing if anyone can tell what the problem might be and help me out with it. Any thoughts?

Shield TV/Tablet + Shared Controller?

Heya folks! Looking to buy the TV bundle instead of getting the 60€ controller separately.
Now from what I understand is that the controller uses Wifi instead of BT which leads to my next question: is switching output (TV/Tablet) possible on the fly or do you need to change device like with BT setups?
Don't answer unless you got both devices and do this (if possible), as any other way is meaningless to me. I already have a PS3 controller which I only use for my desktop/laptop so it defeats the purpose in case anyone is trying to recommend that.
edit: in nearly January I will pick up a Shield TV and try this out myself. So until then, keeping my fingers crossed!
It can only be paired with one device at a time so you do have to change it when switching devices. However it is quick and easy to do.
Is there like a quick switch function avail, or do you need to pair it each time (i.e like BT devices)?
Figuring I would keep the controller connected at home to the TV and once it's out of reach, it would switch over to the Tab.

S7 Screen Dead, Phone on - How do I access it for backup?

So my new S7 's screen is completely dead. I can see the soft buttons light up and I've been trying to swipe but I can't. I was going to try to screen mirror to my Fire TV (by looking at a vid and hopefully hitting the right places to get it to connect) but the screen isn't passing any input.
So my next thought was to get a USB OTG cable and a mouse, although I have no idea how fast the pointer will move making guess the steps to connect really hard. I was also looking at chrome extension Vysor, but again, it need debugging enabled (which isn't) on the phone for it to work. Apparently sammy discontinued MHL support so there's no way to just plug in to in a TV with a cable,
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can force access on the phone to get a backup? Again, I need something that will let me see the screen, preferably in as little steps as possible (the more menus I have to navigate, the less likely I'll be able to blindly fumble my way through)
Thanks!
Anyone?````
same situation here, not much resources out there. Is your phone still connected to your wifi? mine is not so I can't get google play to install apps to it.
If you can though...
Samsung SideSync was recommended on another forum, similar to vysor but might work wirelessly for you
Good luck, and please let me know if you find a solution. I might by vysor to try wireless (they haven't answered me whether or not wireless version by passes the need for usb debugging)

If it's turning on (except by the screen) you can use Smart Switch or Kies to recover your data.

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
OR You can use FIND MY MOBILE if you registered a Samsung account to unlock remotely and use USB.
