A day before I made a tutorial on how to install Android Lollipop 5.0 on Motorola Moto G XT1033. With that installing now many of have asked me How to root their device as they have already Unlocked the Bootloader & wanna have root access on their device as they have already lost their warrant and nothing to loose.
No in today's tutorial I will show you how to root your Moto G in simple steps.
Prerequisites:
NOTE: THIS TUTORIAL IS FOR PEOPLE WITH UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER ONLY
1) Ensure your battery is charged to above 60% this will avoid a dead battery from corrupting the process.
2) XT1033 Lollipop Root Kit by ChainFire : DOWNLOAD
3) Minimal ADB & Fastboot Drivers : DOWNLOAD
4) A Little bit of time.
Booting Your Device to Fastboot mode
If you know how to get into fastboot mode then you can skip this part of tutorial & head directly to the next step.
1) Turn of your mobile phone
2) Now hold ' Volume Down + Power ' for 3 to 4seconds which will boot into the bootloader.
Voila! you've just booted into fastboot mode.
Checking whether XT1033 is detected in fastboot mode
Will bringing up the bootloader on your device its time for us to check whether your device is detected by the computer in fastboot mode. Now for following this step you must download the Minimal ADB & Fastboot Drivers from the link provided in the Prerequisites section & install it with default location on your computer
1) Connect your device & Open the ' Minimal ADB & Fastboot ' from the new shortcut thats made on the desktop, If you are not able to find it then navigate to C:\Program Files (or) Program Files(x86) \Minimal ADB and Fastboot\ and open " py_cmd.exe "
2) Now type the below code
fastboot devices
If it results something that is familiar to the below image then you're good to proceed if not the make sure you followed all the steps correctly, if you still doesnt get it correct then leave a comment I'll be very happy to help you.

Rooting Moto G XT1033
Proceed with this step only if everything stated in the above steps has come out correctly.
1) Unzip the ' CF-Auto-Root-xxx-xxx-xxx.zip ' file to a separate folder on your computer.
2) Run the " root-windows.bat " file & press the space bar.
3) Wait for a while for the process to finish & your device will reboot.
Voila! you have successfully rooted your device. Check for " Super SU " app in your app drawer.

i've rooted with the CM12 method and it works like charm. so i think this complicated process isn't needed.

Thanks for your guide
I don't think CF-Auto-Root is required now.. Though we can get the job done
To summarize the rooting process
Here is the 3 easy steps
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Install custom recovery
3. Install SuperSU

Can you provide the link of custom recovery.?

I wonder, after flashing a custom recovery.. how to get back the stock (perhaps lollipop recovery) for the future OTA updates? Can we flash the 4.4.4 recovery over it?

Just after flashing stock BR 4.4.4 then 5.0 OTA update to my XT1032 Moto G (bought in UK)
Followed this guide and it's rooted
thanks.

flash stock rom using flashtool
I had the same problem.
After unlocking the bl (official way) I had a bootloop. I flashed the. 31 FTf from this forum. I was still having the bootloop.
After that, I relocked the bootloader with Flashtool. This helped me. The phone booted without the loop.
After unlocking the bl again (with Flashtool) everything was fine and I flashed vengeance kernel.

Guys, could you help me on using flashtool?
I tried last week to unlock my bootloader using flashtool, but no success.. Am I missing some softwares that are needed to be installed first?
I read about the SDK manager on the official way of unlocking bootloader..do I need it to be installed before using flashtool?
Sorry for this noob questions, I'm really confused.. I want to install custom ROM on my XL..please help me..
What are the softwares I need for a successful unlocking BL using flashtool?
If you could be patient more enough, please give me guidelines..
Thank's so much!

stuck in boot loop after unlocking bootloader
Hi All,
I tried unlocking the boot loader with the officially mentioned fastboot method and have ended up in a bootloop while starting the phone.
As mentioned in this thread, I am trying to flash the stock ROM C2105_15.0.A.1.31_CE.ftf onto my phone. However, I am getting an error message "No available services matched the connected device" on the EMMA tool. I tried the following:
1. Tried putting the file C2105_15.0.A.1.31_CE.ftf in C:\Program Files\Sony Mobile\Emma\firmwares folder, but EMMA doesn't recognise this.
2. Tried putting the file in C:\Flashtool\firmwares, still EMMA doesn't recognise this and shows "No available services matched the connected device".
I have attached the screenshot of the error message herewith.
Please let me know how I can resolve this issue.
Thanks.

Quick tutorial for unlocking & relocking the bootloader of the Xperia E3
this is the official way to unlock bootloader
WARNING!
MAKE TA BACKUP BEFORE UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER!
if you want to backup the TA or keep yor DRM keys, first root the device and then check this out
Warning!
This procedure will wipe the /data partition of your phone, so you will loose all your stored data, settings. SDCARD will BE WIPED!!!
DRM keys WILL be lost forever (If you dont have backup )
older Xperia devices sometimes got issues after unlock of bootloader (BRICK after FOTA update) - you have been warned
why to unlock bootloader?
u can flash custom ROMs/Kernels
u dont need to worry if the new firmware can be rooted or not as with unlocked bootloader u can always ROOT ur device
Sony gives sneak-peaks/preview builds of latest OS which requires unlocked bootloaders, as they did with Xperia 2011/2012 line, so who knows may be Sony may give early builds of next android OS
Most of this is taken from lollylost100's And DoomLoRD for their tutorial threads
[ before we begin unlocking bootloader ]
get the IMEI code for ur device: type *#06# in phone dialer to find it out, note only the digits (no dashes)
download the fastboot package
IMPORTANT: if you are using Windows 8 you will need to enable few things to allow driver installation
download the latest FlashTool Xperia Driver Pack and install fastboot drivers (common) & adb drivers for this device from the list!
make sure u have a windows PC with USB cable to connect the phone
power down ur phone and keeping the Volume Up button pressed connect the USB cable to PC this will trigger FASTBOOT mode and windows will start driver installation, which should be automatically done
once drivers are installed just disconnect cable and power on device
[ how to unlock ] (official way)
Go to: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and read everything!
At the bottom click 'Start Unlocking the Bootloader'
after u have verified that u can unlock bootloader, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Continue"
you will get numerous prompts, read all info and if u agree click on "Accept"/"OK"/"Proceed"
finally u will get a "Create Unlock request" page, enter your IMEI (sometimes the last digit needs to be removed for this to work), name and email address
You should now receive your unique unlock key via EMAIL, SAVE THIS KEY SAFELY
Extract fastboot_with_Android_USB_file.rar and open fastboot folder
Hold SHIFT and right click on the background of the folder
Select 'Open command window here'
Connect your phone in fastboot mode (turn phone off, hold Volume UP button and plug in USB Cable) [make sure drivers are installed as explained above)
In the cmd windows type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
If a value is returned (it will return 0.5), it means the phone is correctly connected
Type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY and replace KEY with the key which u received earlier.
You're device should now be bootloader unlocked
Re-locking Click here
Re-locking & Restore Drm Keys Device
With the latest release of Flashtool it is now possible to relock bootloader.
Download the latest flashtool from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Important
DO NOT USE ANY FTF TO RELOCK BOOTLOADER! THOSE OLD FTFs DO NOT WORK FOR THE 2013 DEVICES!!!
before u relock bootloader u have to be on pure stock kernel (flash only the kernel.sin using flashtool), else the device WILL NOT BOOT after relock
Steps:
now start Flashtool and click on BLU button
u will be asked to connect device in flashmode
once u connect the device u will get a prompt to "Relock"
click on it and when prompted disconnect the device
Want to UNLOCK again after relocking? read this!
Using TA-backup/restore You can restore the Drm Keys... but make sure you can only restore the Drm key with Stock Kernel ( Else the device dont boot)
Best regards,
venkat kamesh
Complete Root / with simple guide steps
Ever one are afraid to use the mods just because of unlocking
but there are still many ways to save your DRM keys
Here @vinay wrote what all needed to be done for the root and recovery

Recoveries
Guys If you need additional recoveries
I meant

Make sure you are running one of these kernels Click here by @vinay
Download the recoveries Click here
Copy to Sdcard
Flash the recovery zip from the recovery
Now get back to flashboot mode
Then Falsh only kernel from the ftf (using Flastool) of your desired model
Now the NDR utils will support the deive
When you get back to your stock kernel you can Restore Drm Keys (if you have done backup) then everything works great
And Even you will be having working recoveries with locked bootloader
Have fun with recoveries
thanks @[NUT] for the valuable / awesome script/work

I'm really stuck getting recovery installed - please help?

Hi all,
I've followed various sets of instructions for installing a recovery onto my E6653. I was able to get recovery to boot successfully using the sony-recovery-z5.img found HERE, but it can't see, mount, format or wipe my ext SD card at all in this recovery so I can't initiate the install of a ROM from it.
I've tried stacks of other recoveries and boot images (kernels?), including:
[TWRP][E6653/E6603/E6633/E6683] 3.0.2 , all ROMs
[TWRP][E6653/E6603] 2.8.7.0 and Stock Rootable Kernel [2015-11-15]
[KERNEL][E6653/E6633/E6683] Zach's Kernel Playground for Z5, WIP (work in progress)
https://www.gizdev.com/sony-xperia-z5-e6653e6603-unlock-bootloader-install-twrp-recovery-root/
but none of these work - the phone will no longer boot after flashing boot.img (stuck at sony logo) and the recoveries will not launch - don't get the 'amber LED' which various guides tell me to press Vol Down at.
I'm using
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
to boot the phone into recovery and
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
to flash it, which hasn't worked at all. All of theTWRP versions I have found around the place do not work at all - it stays at the SONY white boot up screen. I have seen other kernels in .zip files and was extracting them to flash the boot.img file but looking now that seems incorrect - how do I flash the .zip file? Maybe that's unrelated but I seem to be missing something there
At the moment, the only way I can use my phone is if I flash the firmware in flashmode, using Flashtool.
My steps, from stock, were:
get unlock code from sony
enable USB debugging
turn on "Enable OEM Unlock"
issue "adb reboot bootloader"
issue oem unlock command
reboot phone and confirmed "Bootloader Unlocked: YES"
issue "adb reboot bootloader"
Then what should I do? What other steps do I need to take to get from stock onto a custom ROM such as this one? Please tell me step-by-step (like i'm 5) and assume you're talking me through it and I know nothing... because I am clearly missing some obvious step that nobody else here has struggled with.
Thanks heaps in advance for your help guys

I don't think your bootloader is unlocked because:
1: your device won't boot after flashing an image.
2: your rooting status says: bootloader unlock allowed.
(if unlocked, it says rooting status: bootloader unlocked)
Yes means it can be unlocked.
Unless you unlocked already and use drm fix because then it still shows yes but Im pretty sure your bootloader isn't unlocked.
BTW this thread belongs in Q&A section.
You can request a movement by hitting the small "!" triangle button underneath your post when viewing this page in a browser.

Thanks heaps - that sounds like it might be the issue, I'll have a play and post back here. It would explain why I've had so much trouble with what seems like a simple task

I'm not sure I want to go and have another crack at flashing a recovery... I couldn't seem to get any of them to work.
I've just followed this guide to installing recovery and it hasn't worked... I still just get stuck at the sony logo. Any ideas why? How do I know the recovery image linked is correct for my phone?
http://www.digitbin.com/unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-root-sony-xperia-z5/
OK, I got recovery installed! Thanks to this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/help/boot-flashmode-fastboot-t3457818
mentions what no other guide mentions...
I need to have a custom kernel before I can flash recovery (first mention of this I've seen)
The kernel I flash needs to match the firmware I have installed
With that, I had instant success.
EDIT:
And now I have managed to get a custom ROM installed at last My procedure was, for anyone that be stuck in a similar way:
If your phone already won't boot:
Download Flashtool and install it. I have mirrored it here as all the sources I found were very slow: http://noobs.wtf/uploads/flashtool-0.9.22.3-windows.exe
Go to the 'drivers' folder inside your Flashtool install directory (default C:\Flashtool\drivers) and follow the instructions to install the "flashmode" driver
Select XperiFirm within Flashtool and download the correct firmware for your phone - mine was "Xperia Z5 > Sumire > E6653 > Australia > Telstra AU > 32.2.A.0.253 / R5C"
Turn off your phone and boot it in flashmode - Insert USB while holding vol down until the LED is green
Once Flashtool has finished downloading your firmware, go back to the main screen and click the 'lightning' button to flash your phone with the new firmware that should show up in the list - leave all the options unticked. Wait for it to say 'complete - un plug your phone'
Your phone should now boot successfully
To install a custom ROM:
I was not able to access my SD card in any version of TWRP - so copy your ROM to the internal storage of your phone. I used v1.5.0 of THIS ROM successfully.
Copy v36 (or newer) of THIS KERNEL .zip file to your internal storage as well. (v32 and higher are in the google docs link) NOTE this must match the firmware version - v36 was the one I used because, as above, I re-flashed my phone with 32.2.A.0.253 from Flashtool. The appropriate versions are listed on that link
[*]Also download TWP-3.0.2-2-E6653.img (or newer equivalent) from that same link.
[*]Follow the instructions HERE to unlock your bootloader (and make sure your fastboot drivers are installed correctly)
[*]Reboot your phone and re-enter fastboot mode (vol-up while plugging in USB) you can issue the command 'fastboot oem unlock' and it will return 'already rooted' if it has been done correctly
[*]Now with your phone in fastboot mode, issue the commands "fastboot flash recovery TWP-3.0.2-2-E6653.img" then "fastboot boot TWP-3.0.2-2-E6653.img" to install and then boot into TWRP recovery
[*]Once in TWRP, go to "Install" and install first the Kernel, then install the ROM, making sure to do the wipes
For me, this completed the process of installing a custom ROM I was stuck on the lack of info around installing the kernal and whatnot.

Thanks! I did the fastboot method and it worked on my XT1641 Dual SIM Mexican Version with unlocked bootloader! :good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good:
Do you need to first be on build ending in 139-63? Or good to go without? Also is this for dual sim variant or will it also work with single sim?

[GUIDE]Bootloader Unlock Realme C12

After 6 months from launch date, we finally got bootloader unlock permission on March 2nd 2020 for Realme C12 initially based on Realme UI 1.0. Later Realme gave permission for UI 2.0 too.
Before doing anything to device, keep a copy of Stock ROM from here in your PC or SD Card.
Unlocking bootloader will trip safetynet. If you want to use bank apps or some apps that use SafetyNet, then you have to pass SafetyNet. To pass it we have to use a Magisk module called 'Universal SafetyNet fix' Or use a custom rom or GSI that uses it if you dont want Magisk.
Also locking bootloader seems to lead 'Red State' in many devices. This can only be solved by going to Service Center. So be prepared for it. To get rid of it flash stock rom once even if you didn't done any modifications.
Prerequisites:-- A PC
- USB Cable(We can use charger cable)
- Platform-tools
- Patience
Step 0 - Great! You're ready to go. Make sure to backup your phone's data before continuing on with this tutorial, as unlocking will make it factory reset (wipe)!
Step 1 - Download and Open In Depth Tool from below
For UI 1.0 https://download.c.realme.com/flash/Unlock_tool/DeepTest_realmeC12.apk
For UI 2.0 https://c.realme.com/in/post-details/1526491339024314368

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 2 - Click “Start applying”.
Step 3 - Please read the disclaimer in detail, select the checkbox, and submit your application
Step 4 - The Application Will be checked by realme Servers..(Wait 10 mins)
Step 5 - Go back. Remove app from Recent apps. Open the app and click on Query verification status which is at top right
Step 6 - You can now click “Start the in-depth test” and the device will reboot to fastboot mode automatically. The following string will display on the screen: fast boot_unlock_verify ok
Step 7 - Now Download and install the fastboot tool on your PC and Connect the device to PC using USB cable and ready to unlock it.
Step 8 - Now you are in Fastboot Mode. Type this command
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
in command prompt of PC and Press enter.
Step 9 - On your phone press the Volume Down key to select "UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER” (or press the Volume Up key if you have changed your mind to select "DO NOT UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER”).
Step 10 - Now type
Code:
fastboot reboot
. Your phone will reboot and all user data on the phone will be erased - I recommend you perform a data backup prior to applying.
And there you go! Your phone will reboot and you can set it all up again. with the ability to root and you can also install GSIs/custom ROMs/recovery!
After unlocking, flash stock rom once from stock recovery to fix some 'Red state' issue and fastboot errors that may lead to GSI booting issues. See this for flashing stock rom. With this you will also get a idea of flashing stock rom.
Q: Will unlocking my bootloader void my warranty?
A: No, it will not. Unless you brick your device.
Q: I tried unlocking my bootloader but, PC doesn't detect my phone, even though it's in fastboot mode and connected. Help?
A: Here are some things you can try:
- Try another USB port.- Try another USB cable.- Download and install exe for 64-bit and 32-bit- Restart PC- Connect device to PC- Go to Device Manager- Double Click on Unidentified Realme C12(Device with exclamation mark)- Click on Update Driver- Select Browser my computer- Select Let me pick- Select Android Device- Click on NextEnjoy!
Q: I am getting carrier-customized phone?
A: See this
Relock your bootloader
Locking bootloader without flashing stock rom again may lead to 'Red State'(can only be fixed by flashing stock rom with PC). So before locking bootloader, flash stock rom in stock recovery and boot to stock rom once.
Tutorial:
Step 0 - Flash stock ROM in stock recovery.(Don't skip this step even if you haven't done any modification)
Step 1 - Download the unlock tool again to apply to exit the in-depth test.
Step 2 - Click “Apply to exit in-depth test”. You should manual operation enter the Fastboot mode(Press both the Volume down button and the Power button when power is off).
Step 3 - In the Fastboot mode, use the engineering command below on your PC to re-lock the bootloader.
- Enter the command: fastboot flashing lockStep 4 - Press the Volume Down button to select the “Lock bootloader” option (or press the Volume Up button to select “Do not lock bootloader" and keep it unlocked).
Step 5 - Then enter command fastboot reboot. The phone will reboot. All user data on the phone will be erased - we recommend you perform a data backup prior to applying.
Thanks

I have two questions
1. I have a Realme c12 device (Realme UI 1.0), it's device model is RMX2189 but the link you provided has only RMX2185 version. Can I flash that stock rom in my phone?
2. I am from Bangladesh, which region version should I flash? (Egypt, Combodia, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Vietnam)

For first question, you can install RMX2185 version. Since C11, C12 and C15 use RMX2185 for stock rom ozips.
For second question, I am not sure what to do with your region.

Thanks a lot. I am facing some problems while trying to unlock bootloader. (Forgive me, I am a noob )
I have successfully installed platform-tools, granted usb debugging permission and rebooted my phone to fastboot mode from depth tool. It's showing "fast boot_unlock_verify ok".
Now if I enter the command "fastboot flashing unlock" in command prompt window, it's showing this message: "waiting for device" and nothing is happening afterwards... Am I missing any drivers? (My cable is ok)

I have installed the driver you mentioned in the questions section, now if I connect my phone while in fastboot mode, my PC detects it but if I give the command "fastboot flashing unlock", the command prompt still shows "Waiting for device"...
And I tried going to device manager and manually update my device drivers (as you guided), still the same
