[GUIDE]Bootloader Unlock Realme C12 - Realme C12 Guides, News, & Discussion

After 6 months from launch date, we finally got bootloader unlock permission on March 2nd 2020 for Realme C12 initially based on Realme UI 1.0. Later Realme gave permission for UI 2.0 too.
Before doing anything to device, keep a copy of Stock ROM from here in your PC or SD Card.
Unlocking bootloader will trip safetynet. If you want to use bank apps or some apps that use SafetyNet, then you have to pass SafetyNet. To pass it we have to use a Magisk module called 'Universal SafetyNet fix' Or use a custom rom or GSI that uses it if you dont want Magisk.
Also locking bootloader seems to lead 'Red State' in many devices. This can only be solved by going to Service Center. So be prepared for it. To get rid of it flash stock rom once even if you didn't done any modifications.
Prerequisites:-- A PC
- USB Cable(We can use charger cable)
- Platform-tools
- Patience
Step 0 - Great! You're ready to go. Make sure to backup your phone's data before continuing on with this tutorial, as unlocking will make it factory reset (wipe)!
Step 1 - Download and Open In Depth Tool from below
For UI 1.0 https://download.c.realme.com/flash/Unlock_tool/DeepTest_realmeC12.apk
For UI 2.0 https://c.realme.com/in/post-details/1526491339024314368

Step 2 - Click “Start applying”.
Step 3 - Please read the disclaimer in detail, select the checkbox, and submit your application
Step 4 - The Application Will be checked by realme Servers..(Wait 10 mins)
Step 5 - Go back. Remove app from Recent apps. Open the app and click on Query verification status which is at top right
Step 6 - You can now click “Start the in-depth test” and the device will reboot to fastboot mode automatically. The following string will display on the screen: fast boot_unlock_verify ok
Step 7 - Now Download and install the fastboot tool on your PC and Connect the device to PC using USB cable and ready to unlock it.
Step 8 - Now you are in Fastboot Mode. Type this command
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
in command prompt of PC and Press enter.
Step 9 - On your phone press the Volume Down key to select "UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER” (or press the Volume Up key if you have changed your mind to select "DO NOT UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER”).
Step 10 - Now type
Code:
fastboot reboot
. Your phone will reboot and all user data on the phone will be erased - I recommend you perform a data backup prior to applying.
And there you go! Your phone will reboot and you can set it all up again. with the ability to root and you can also install GSIs/custom ROMs/recovery!
After unlocking, flash stock rom once from stock recovery to fix some 'Red state' issue and fastboot errors that may lead to GSI booting issues. See this for flashing stock rom. With this you will also get a idea of flashing stock rom.
Q: Will unlocking my bootloader void my warranty?
A: No, it will not. Unless you brick your device.
Q: I tried unlocking my bootloader but, PC doesn't detect my phone, even though it's in fastboot mode and connected. Help?
A: Here are some things you can try:
- Try another USB port.- Try another USB cable.- Download and install exe for 64-bit and 32-bit- Restart PC- Connect device to PC- Go to Device Manager- Double Click on Unidentified Realme C12(Device with exclamation mark)- Click on Update Driver- Select Browser my computer- Select Let me pick- Select Android Device- Click on NextEnjoy!
Q: I am getting carrier-customized phone?
A: See this

Relock your bootloader
Locking bootloader without flashing stock rom again may lead to 'Red State'(can only be fixed by flashing stock rom with PC). So before locking bootloader, flash stock rom in stock recovery and boot to stock rom once.
Tutorial:
Step 0 - Flash stock ROM in stock recovery.(Don't skip this step even if you haven't done any modification)
Step 1 - Download the unlock tool again to apply to exit the in-depth test.
Step 2 - Click “Apply to exit in-depth test”. You should manual operation enter the Fastboot mode(Press both the Volume down button and the Power button when power is off).
Step 3 - In the Fastboot mode, use the engineering command below on your PC to re-lock the bootloader.
- Enter the command: fastboot flashing lockStep 4 - Press the Volume Down button to select the “Lock bootloader” option (or press the Volume Up button to select “Do not lock bootloader" and keep it unlocked).
Step 5 - Then enter command fastboot reboot. The phone will reboot. All user data on the phone will be erased - we recommend you perform a data backup prior to applying.

We have both TWRP and custom ROMs too. But they are in C11 forums. All C11 things can be used in C12 and C15(MTK) too. So have a look at https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/realme-c11-roms-kernels-recoveries-other-deve.10991/

I have two questions
1. I have a Realme c12 device (Realme UI 1.0), it's device model is RMX2189 but the link you provided has only RMX2185 version. Can I flash that stock rom in my phone?
2. I am from Bangladesh, which region version should I flash? (Egypt, Combodia, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Vietnam)

For first question, you can install RMX2185 version. Since C11, C12 and C15 use RMX2185 for stock rom ozips.
For second question, I am not sure what to do with your region.
Thanks

Thanks a lot. I am facing some problems while trying to unlock bootloader. (Forgive me, I am a noob )
I have successfully installed platform-tools, granted usb debugging permission and rebooted my phone to fastboot mode from depth tool. It's showing "fast boot_unlock_verify ok".
Now if I enter the command "fastboot flashing unlock" in command prompt window, it's showing this message: "waiting for device" and nothing is happening afterwards... Am I missing any drivers? (My cable is ok)

@Shawmik
Yeah you are doing right.
But seems like drivers are not installed.
See the questions in bottom of my guide to get solution.

I don't know why I am facing these weird issues, sorry for bothering you...
I have installed the driver you mentioned in the questions section, now if I connect my phone while in fastboot mode, my PC detects it but if I give the command "fastboot flashing unlock", the command prompt still shows "Waiting for device"...
And I tried going to device manager and manually update my device drivers (as you guided), still the same

[UPDATED][GUIDE] UNLOCK/RELOCK BOOTLOADER UNOFFICIALLY FOR ZenFone 3

Make sure you’ve backed up all of your IMPORTANT DATA before unlocking/relocking bootloader because this process WILL DELETE ALL OF YOUR IMPORTANT DATA !
I am not responsible for bricked devices and dead SD cards. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
This process will not void the device warranty & you will get OTAs
First and foremost, please install ZenFone 3 Drivers via Device Manager (Download drivers on ASUS Support Website)
1) Download the Factory RAW ROM here:
ZE520KL:
ZE552KL:
2) Download ASUS Flash Tool here:
3) Flash the firmware via ASUS Flash Tool by entering FASTBOOT MODE (Power Button + Volume Up) & DO NOT WIPE DATA!
Note: This firmware can only boot into FASTBOOT Mode. So, don’t panic
Note: If you flash RAW firmware via ASUS Flash Tool and received an error (FRP request error), just IGNORE the error.
4) Download Bootloader Kit for ZenFone 3 here:
5) Enter FASTBOOT mode (Power Off + Volume Up)
UNLOCKING
6) Unzip the files and click on Install adb-setup-1.4.3.exe (You can find this in Bootloader Kit)
Hold Shift and Right Click on any area in the folder (click on ”Open Powershell window/Open Command Window)
Now copy and paste this: fastboot devices
If it shows serial number of your ZenFone 3, you are good to go
Now copy and paste this: fastboot oem unlock
After that, copy and paste this: fastboot reboot bootloader
Congratulations, your device has been unlocked unofficially. (You can see the "Device State" on FASTBOOT splash screen)
RELOCKING
6) Unzip the files and click on Install adb-setup-1.4.3.exe (You can find this in Bootloader Toolkit)

After that, copy and paste this: fastboot reboot bootloader
Congratulations, your device has been locked (You can see the "Device State" on FASTBOOT splash screen)
P.S: If you unlocked officially and you want to relock your bootloader, OTA does not work because your Serial Number has been recorded by ASUS.
7) After that, download the stock Oreo RAW ROM here and flash it via ASUS Flash Tool (FASTBOOT Mode) (DO NOT WIPE DATA):

To remove it, simply relock the bootloader.
Ok so this time it worked ! Thanks @ZenFone_3
Now I'm on the latest oreo update (1801) with bootloader unlocked.
But no twrp yet. For some reason the flashing process of the twrp img finishes, but it is still the stock recovery that boots. I tried multiple times and downloaded the twrp img again but no luck. I'll try to figure that out.
If I do this unlocking method I'm gona keep my warranty if I have any issue and need to relock to send to the Asus? Or It can be detected?

Bricked Device but has locked bootloader, you applied for unlocking, and have access to Fastboot Mode
There might be a chance. If you applied for unlocking the bootloader, you can still unlock the bootloader by downloading the Mi Unlock Tool on their website https://en.miui.com/unlock/ and boot to fastboot mode and follow the steps provided on their website.
Bricked Device but has locked bootloader, you didn't apply for unlocking, and having access to Fastboot Mode
Your Device is HARD BRICKED. You cannot Flash your phone with a locked bootloader, if you cannot reboot or your device has bootloop after an OTA update, sideload, etc. you should bring your device via the nearest Xiaomi Service Center for further analysis.
You could do the flashing by using EDL Cable (Deep Flash Cable). Or by Testpoints to access EDL with locked bootloader. Find a guide anywhere in XDA or in YouTube.
Is the EDL mode is the same as fastboot mode? Afaik they're different

EDL or download mode term is used for samsung devices (uses ODIN). They are alike as fastboot mode (uses flasher e.g MI Flash tool, MTK flasher, qualcomm flasher, etc.)
Edl flashing means using a edl flash cable or hardware test points. It allows to unbrick a corrupted bootloader .

Edl flashing via this method doesn't require permissions or what since I heard edl flashing is locked and requires authentication .

Going to edit my post since that someone confuses about EDL and Fastboot.
And yes, only Xiaomi has access to EDL Mode (Emergency Download Mode) to force flash system images or firmware because they are the OEM of the device. Only Fastboot that can user be accessed but it requires an unlocked bootloader.
Theoretically as an user, you can access EDL Mode but it requires such tools and knowledge.

Wanna thank you for this post first. However I was unable to run the latest MiFlash due the error as seen on screenshot. (Windows 10)
No matter what I was trying to do, MiFlash was still asking to install drivers (including Nvidia drivers, wtf?)
USB drivers were installed correctly as I could see connected device with installed drivers and fastboot devices have also worked fine. I have done several reboots, windows test mode, but without success...
If anybody else is having same issue, I was able to use probably very old version of MiFlash to successfully flash fastboot MIUI image.

[HELP] POCO M3 system has been destroyed

Hi guys, I need a little help, what happens is that I went to the settings to unlock the bootloader and then proceeded to flash a rom, but after this I got the error "system has been destroyed" Does it mean that to fix it I need to wait for my bootloader to unlock? I forgot that I had to wait a week and I'm not sure what this is because of not waiting or another error, I would also like to know if after time I can fix it since using the MI unlock tool from xiaomi tells me that wait for the time and use the my flash tool to install the stock rom it drops the error "erase is not allowed in lock state"
(EDIT) finish the timer for the unlock bootloader, and after that i just flash a stock rom, thanks for everyone who support me

Yes tha'ts right you can not flash rom with a locked boot loader. there is only way to recover your phone is via edl mode. Flashing the rom via edl mode requires an edl account. The edl account is not available for everyone it's only available for the developer's and services center's. So it's better you take your phone to a service center. Because this problem most probably can't solved by user because everyone May not have a edl account authorised by xiaomi. And the with miflash tool you cannot unlock your phone there is an entirely different tool for unlocking the bootloader "miunlock tool" they are entirely different tools the miflash is only for flash mi rom and for lock your phone. And the other side the miunlock tool is for unlocking the bootloader!

But the unlocking has already started, even the xiaomi tool tells me that I have 41 hours left until it is unlocked, according to me after that I can repair it myself by flashing the ROM, or am I wrong?

To check whether Fastboot is really dealing with phone's bootloader, you run
Code:
fastboot devices
If you don't see fastboot in second line of command's output phone isn't booted into bootloader mode
To check whether phone's bootloader is unlocked, you run
Code:
fastboot getvar secure
If YES is returned then bootloader isn't unlocked.

To flash a phone's Stock ROM it's not required that phone's bootloader is unlocked.
You flash phone's Stock ROM as shown next
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot sideload
adb sideload <STOCK-ROM-ZIP-FILE>
flashing stock rom does not require bootloader to be unlocked.
just flash the rom using adb or fastboot
i will recommend using fastboot because it's reliable but some time it requires unlocked bootloader so just try fastboot after adb has failed.

So what is the magic behind free bootloader unlock? Yes ! Iam not gonna reveal that but yes as a Nokia community Developer this is what I can provide for your all.
A big massive thank you for my back-end team @hikari_calyx , @singhnsk & especially My Nokia 7.2 & 6.2 community for strong support behind the journey.
So what is the exact steps to make it successfull on your Phone.

yup on the way in few hours
I successfully unlocked and my 7.2 today and faced no problems. The whole process ran flawlessly, thanks for making this possible and keep doing good work.
Amazing ! was waiting for this since forever as couldnt spend money, succesfuly unlocked the bootloader on my nokia 7.2 without any issues thnx a ton to the whole development team. Just follow the instructions
WORKS FINE
ON ANDROID 10
(NOKIA 7.2)
YES, IT DOES WORKS THANK YOU SO MUCH AND KUD
DOS TO THE DEVELOPERS.
I MANAGED TO UNLOCK IT FOR FREE
UNLOCKED MY BOOTLOADER
USING NOKIA 7.2 ON ANDROID 10 WITH INDIAN VARIENT DDVA_sprout.zip update package.
Just follow the steps and it will be just fine
Also I would like to mention that in my case I didn't needed to flash stock rom, it booted normally after few "corrupted file" warnings so skipped the "Stock Rom flash tool threads"... I just let it boot few times 4-7 times max and it booted after that with nokia logo.
Great work! Hope the development grow well for Nokia 7.2 & 6.2!
I only get the message "No Command" after I type `adb reboot recovery`. Is there any other method to get into stock recovery?

Doesn't work . I am at step 8 and 9, typing
fastboot devices
fastboot flashing unlock_critical, but there is no option called "unlock", only start - restart bootloader - recovery mode - power off - boot to ffbm - qmmi.
whats going on?
edit: stuck at this point:
edit 2" ok, i understand now that the phone should ask for confirmation, but it doesnt.

I have the same problem.
I found a solution. It was a driver problem. I installed Google, Inc. - Other hardware - Android Bootloader Interface from Windows Update and now ist works.

Thanks. Did similar thing on Linux and it worked (fighting with lineage rights now, its a mess).
Hi everyone,
I unlocked my nokia back then when a bug was still in one of the first android versions and there were an official option in my the dev options. (7.2)
Since then my device has been showing an warning alert when android is booting up. Is this still the case with this unlock procedure mentioned here? If yes, would it work for my to lock my device again and reunlock using this tool in this thread?
Regards,
no, the warning message is still there.

It's not because of Magisk. On stock ROM, TWRP causes this issue. Instead of flashing Magisk using TWRP, you can flash Magisk patched (stock) boot img for rooting your device.

How To Guide Lock+Unlock Bootloader - Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 [TB-J716F]

How To Lock and Unlock Bootloader - Xioaxin Pad Pro 2021 - TB-J716F
Since I found out that the Tablet supports Project Treble I'm trying to get a GSI-ROM running on it.
Currently with many trial and error I got LiR-ROM to boot.
The first step is to unlock the Bootloader so I thought I will share the process here.
Your data will be deleted while unlocking, try it at your own risk.
Unlock Bootloader manually
Requirement: PC with ADB Fastboot
1. Go to Settings -> System -> About Phone, tab on it until developer settings are enabled.
2. Go to Developer Settings and enable "USB Debugging" and "OEM Unlocking".
3. Open Console and enter "adb devices". Allow USB-Debugging if tablets asks.
4. Enter command "adb reboot bootloader".
5. Write down the serial number shown on the bootloader screen
You can either get the unlock image via this link "http://cdn.zui.lenovomm.com/developer/tabletboot/[your sn number]/sn.img" or via the webseite
5. Go to the ZUI Unlock Website and request the unlock image

}
6. You should get a mail where you can download a file called "sn.img".
7. Flash the image with fastboot "fastboot flash unlock sn.img"
8. Enter command "fastboot oem unlock-go", bootloader will unlock now.
9. Restart with "fastboot reboot".
Done, your bootloader should be unlocked now.
Lock and Unlock Bootloader with Batchscript
I recently found a batch script for lenovo devices in an chinese forum and translated it.
It's easy and convenient to use. For unlocking you still need the sn.img from the ZUI Unlock Website.
Download BatchScript
Thanks a lot for your contribution! Mine was unlocked when I received it but it's good to see some guides here.
What is the opposite process, to close the bootloader? Does Widevine L1 recover after closing the bootloader? In the case of doing so, can the bootloader be opened again?
@sakun-ice Sorry, I can't tell you that, sind I haven't tried it now. But I think it should be possible.
Currently I'm trying to get a Custom ROM running, if it doesn't work, I will try to install Stock ROM and lock bootloader again. If it happens, I will post it here.

Thank you very much, I hope you can install a custom rom and this tablet will not be forgotten, since it is one of the most powerful compact tablets.
@sakun-ice I got LineageOS to run on it today, but it still has 2-3 bugs.
Helloi received one unlocked with a globaoe fw without ota's and i flashed the cn one and took the boot.ipg and patched it with pagisk for root and when flashing it via fastboot the device reboots to fastboot everytipe 1nd had to reflash the fw via edl , i did flashed vbmeta img with the known command o disable verification but no success same thing again. Can anyone plz tell me how to root that crap , it was intended to root use only and took over xiaomi pad pro just because the xiaomi needs 7 days of waiting before unlocking , plz help guys .thx so much i can buy a couple beers for the helper
I'm able to flash back to China stock rom but i can't lock the bootloader.
i have placed the sn.img in both the batchscript folder and platform tools
Tried the batch script :
"
Please select your device status:
1. Fully booted
2. Fastboot mode
Status: 2
Start locking bootloader, don't disconnect device from PC!
FAILED (remote: Command not supported in default implementation)
Finished. Total time: 0.016s
FAILED (remote: Unrecognized command flashing lock)
Finished. Total time: -0.000s
If prompt says "OKAY", locking was successfull.
Use the volume keys to select "LOCK BOOTLOADER", press power key to confirm.
Done!
Press any key to continue . . .
"
Powershell :
"
PS C:\Users\weeteck\Downloads\platform-tools_r31.0.3-windows\platform-tools> ./fastboot flash lock sn.img
Sending 'lock' (5 KB) OKAY [ 0.000s]
Writing 'lock' FAILED (remote: 'No such file or directory')
fastboot: error: Command failed
"
@zeroflame15 Did install the driver correctly? For locking you don't need the sn.img, only for unlocking. And did you use the LockBootloader Script?
hmm..i'm not sure if i install the driver correctly. what should be shown in device manager? i did follow PHRS guide and installed the ADB driver but there is this !Android under Other Devices.
Any other driver that i need to install?
And should i be in bootloader mode or fastboot mode to run the command? I run the command at fastboot moder i will get the error above. If i run at bootloader mode will stuckedd at <waiting for device>
@zeroflame15 You have to be in bootloader mode. <waiting for device> is propably the driver.

Check out this post:
Post in thread '[Solved] Re-locking bootloader - no fastboot commands working' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...stboot-commands-working.4330019/post-85755663
It can be a bit tricky to get the commands working because it's not always clear if you need to be in fastboot or bootloader.
This worked for me:
Reboot to bootloader by entering "adb reboot bootloader"
After that try "fastboot flashing lock"
Thanks @zxcv88
After installing the lenovo USB driver, the !Android in Other devices was updated.

Sort of yes.
Initially after flash to stock china rom, i was able to OTA. But subsequent check for updates will get error saying devices is rooted.
After locked bootloader, tried OTA again and indeed there is another new updates.
Saw some chinese video for those who wanted the rooted status and also to perform OTA updates, they are using magdisk to hide the root.

but you need ZUI Unlock Website also for lock? cause seems need only for unlock...right?
No need for lock. Like what others have mentioned. Just a single line command and it works as long you got the right drivers installed.
