Fastboot installing things went kinda wrong. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA,
I would like some help. I made a mistake with installing system.img via fastboot and it was the wrong file so I tried to abort it. Then I installed the good system.img but now google now launcher crashes and all the contacts and the whole homescreen is gone etc. I could see the devices a minute ago with all the files on pc, but now not. Strangely I could get in the folders of the phone but they were all empty, but it was still shown there was 500mb free as before. Any ideas how to recover all of his files, whatsapp etc and recover the phone. Can't find a fast solution. But my brother has to leave soon so i need a quick fix where I can still keep his files.
Thanks in advance!!
Phone is on android 4.4, I was trying to make everything stock aigain to update to 4.4.2 and then 5.0

This might not work at this point, but try flashing all the images except userdata.img

In dire need of help here...please assist. EDIT: SOLVED....MODS feel free to remove

EDIT!: SOLVED! The issue was as simple as gettin an updated RSD Lite, i was trying to use 5.6 and 5.7 but i eventually found a link for 6.0 and once using that, boom the stock firmware flashed no problem, took like 8 minutes and it's fresh baked stock!
Edit: Sorry, further searching helped me find what I believe will solve this "brick" situation
Second Edit: The method I had intended on using was the RSD Lite method...problem is I cannot get a good stock firmware xml...on the site I found that had two stock files for the Ultra are not working for me. One file fails and the other cannot manage to get extracted from the zip so I tried extracting just the xml file alone and it doesn't even begin to try and install. So now I am sort of at a stalemate because there is a working method to unbrick but the files arent working...if someone could provide a working link of tested and working stock firmware that would be great, or if there is another method of retaining stock...or any OS back on my phone that would be the TITS
So, I was integrating system app updates using Titanium Back-up, when doing it to Touchless Control it got stuck, froze had to "battery pull" and when I rebooted a slew of Force Closes from Keyboard, G+ and Touchless control...I fixed this by freezing these apps using TiBu (very tedious doing so between FC's haha) and then deleting and reinstalling them...the unfortunate part is now I've lost Home key function completely as well as my Quick Tiles...any idea what I can do to either restore the stock system rom OR just some how make my home key work and my Quick Tiles reappear.
Okay so I tried to copy over the build prop from the system dump of our Ultra and I'm not sure why but when i rebooted the phone will now no longer boot past the splash screen...I can boot into fastboot mode but i can now no longer get into the OS and that's making me think I may be bricked.

[Q] EFS and Support

So today I think I messed up pretty bad.
I was installing the Carbon Rom via fastboot and after, I went to delete the cache and userdata.
Now, I didn't notice anything strange, I was at home and on wifi. Until' I tired texting a friend. I noticed that nothing was showing up. No IMEI, no number, no baseband!
I was planning on running a data recovery tool on the / area whenever I next can, but if I can't get the EFS back, what would be the next course of action?
Flash stock and send it back to Google to get fixed?
Also, what is the exact location of the EFS directory on the nexus 5's?
Someone offer me some guidance, I feel so lost!
Thanks, Alex.

First, how did you flash carbon in fastboot?
Second, there is no efs folder it's a partition
Try flashing the cache.img in fastboot

I have restored it to stock, and it's all fine. But stock sucks.
And I mean in recovery.img, clockwork touch.
The problem lies within the radio.img, as that is the thing stopping the baseband coming.
Will try reflashing Carbon and then putting the stock radio.img onto it. :silly:

You could have just flashed the cache.img on fastboot and would have solved your problem without losing your custom Rom or data. Something to remember if it happens again.

I have a problem with my Neuxs 5.
A month ago i flashed my Nexus on Android L and yesterday i also rooted it.
Then a few hours later it crashes. I don't know why and I can't boot it anymore.
Today i tried to flash it new without a data loss, but the problem is that the apps run all perfectly except for that i can't save anything and could not open the galerie.
But in the settings i can see that there is a memory. Only i can't access on it.
I want the data from the memory, but i don't know how.
I hope you can help me and sorry for my english.

No unfortunately not.
I have the Total Commander
Go back to Kitkat through factory images.
its a very common issue with flashing L, your storage isnt seen because the location changed.
1. you can move everything back manually(your storage is still there, just in another location).
2. or you can flash the factory img for 444 via fastboot.

Need help urgently

Hello xda forums.
Today I decided I would flash the ROM for euphoria lollipop after a long time of being on kit kat. I backed up, system restored, and flashed the new rom and was able to boot into the OS without any issues, other than the fact that all my contacts were gone!
In an attempt to save my contacts I went back into recovery and tried to restore my backup. After doing this, when booting I would still boot into Lollipop, but the bottom bar would disappear and I wasn't able to navigate anything. After factory restoring once more to restore the backup, the backup had disappeared. Now on my phone the only thing I'm able to do is get into recovery. Is there any way for me to get the ROM onto the phone again so I can install it? The nexus 5 doesn't show up under devices and drives in 'This PC'.
Thanks in advance for your help. I really need to get my phone back up and running, even if it means having no contacts
It sounds like you wiped your entire device including the os and your backup. You're going to have to flash the factory image to get it running again. If your contacts were backed up to Google you should get term back after you install the factory image.

Your reply is very much appreciated.
How do I go about flashing the factory image?
Edit: Okay! Got everything done and Euphoria installed properly. I feel like I learned a bunch too! Thank you for your assistance!

[Completed] Corrupted backup? Big problems

Hi guys, wasn't sure where to post this and I've been searching the web for hours without coming up with an answer with the best way to fix the problem I've got.
So yesterday my sister gave me her phone saying it was shat and slow and generally rubbish (S4 i9505 running 4.4.2). So I had a brief look at it and she had absolutely no room on the phone at all, it was completely clogged. So I deleted all the cache data (4 gigs!!), as soon as I did this the phone came back to life and started updating everything it could, then made a backup in CWM. Thought while I'm here I may as well put the official Lollipop firmware on it from Sammobile. All was good until I realised that she has never backed anything up to google or any other cloud storage (pretty dumb!) and all of her important stuff I couldn't get back.
So I then had to try and extract some data from the CWM backup... couldn't do it. I just couldn't find the files that she wanted restored. Mainly whatsapp messages and pictures and also Smemo. These are all she needs, there's really important memos apparently, why the hell she never backed them up or had another copy of them is beyond me if they were that important!
So I tried restoring just the data part of the 4.4 CWM restore to the 5.0 rom, looking back now I see this is where I went wrong and was asking for trouble.
So I then tried rolling back to the full CWM backup, all went well so I assumed and it said it was successful. This was until the phone booted. Constant spamming of gapps has stopped working, and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to stop, the phone was unusable with it constantly pinging up, every app was failing, and then it would turn itself off and reboot.
So I Factory reset again and wiped everything, installed the backup again, same thing happened again. Even tried flashing the latest version of gapps, but nothing had any effect.
So now I'm thinking oh feck... I didn't make a backup of the Lollipop install as I thought the rollback would have just cured it, and she had already started messing about with it, making it look pretty and getting people to send her some of the important files she had.
So I thought balls, tough luck and you'll have to start again, your fault for never backing anything up. So I reflashed Lollipop, and for some reason it wouldn't boot. Would just hang at the Samsung logo, this was 4am, I was panicking as I'd effectively bricked her phone. So after lots of boot loops and countless flashes I was looking on ebay for a new phone for her, then suddenly it finally boots on one of the flashes.
Anyway after a lot of faffing about, flashing 4.4 which worked, so flashed 5.0 again, and luckily it booted, I don't know what happened, maybe I missed something as I was so tired, so I signed her into google and let all the apps download while I slept.
Now the question is, I seem to have found a site that explains how to extract individual files vaguely, I just need to get the smemos and whatsapp files and I'm not entirely sure where to look and extract these files. Also, will they corrupt if I try to install them on the 5.0 firmware?
Any help would be much appreciated as I'm really in the stinky brown stuff.
Morning bump if anyone can shed some light on this :crying:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Have you tried using this tool?
[Tool] Cwm nandbackup file Extractor ( .img/ .tar files )
It should extract exactly what you need. If you're only reinstalling those specific apps with their data you should have no issues, just don't restore any system data, that's what caused your problems after restoring the KitKat backup on top of the Lollipop ROM.
No response in two days, thread closed, thanks.
