EFS is the one partition you don't want messed up. It contains the IMEI info for your phone.
First things first: you should try to do a factory reset from the stock recovery you have installed now and see if it boots.
If this fails, then: do you have any NANDROID backups made with CWM recovery? If you do, did you also backup the EFS partition? If you did, try to restore a full NANDROID backup and you should be fine.
If you somehow get your phione to boot up and you can't get a network signal, then it means you EFS partition (and IMEI) is corrupted. If you don't have a backup for that, the only solution is going to a phone service repair shop (at least I don't know of any way to recover that without a backup).
Good luck

No. You'd screw things further. Don't flash backups from other devices. The IMEI is unique for each device.
Did you try the factory reset from the recovery you have now?

I don't know. Try it. I think there was an option for it.
You could also try reflashing stock firmware with Odin. If everything fails, I suggest taking it to the nearest phone service repair shop. Restoring the IMEI is a more complex operation. I think a JTAG is required. Not sure though.
Good luck

I do not have the time unfortunately to go into details. But please search on google: "Odin explanation" or something like that. A good example:
http://donandroid.com/understanding-odin-a-beginners-guide-on-odin-buttons-checkboxes-629
Unfortunately like I said, none of the available options can help you.
And never try to use Re-partition unless you really know what you're doing. That repartitions your internal memory to a different layout (like number of partitions and sizes) and requires a PIT file specific to your device.
In the future, always make full NANDROID backups before flashing anything. This will also backup your EFS partition. There are also applications like this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.wanam.efs
And many more examples which I am sure you can find on XDA in your device specific forum. This way, if your EFS ever becomes corrupted, you can easily restore it to a working condition.
Cheers.

So I can maybe restore my Note...
It's a 16GB one...
I sadly find myself in this exact same position. My GT-N8000 was unrooted (though it had been rooted previously via framaroot) and working fine. A few days ago I tried to boot up in the morning, but the screen remained black Figuring that it just needed charging I set it to charge, then tried to start it again a few minutes later. It reached the glaxy Note 10.1 screen and never changed.
Over the last few days I have tried flashing CWM, TWRP and Strock recovery but with no joy. The tablet will boot into Doenload mode for ODIN but will never get to recovery mode.
Via ODIN, I have flashed the stock firmware, but still no change. I even tried repartitioning by flashing 4.04 Android firmware and the corresponding Pit file (found on these forums) but still no change.
Anybody have any idea what might have happened or how it might be fixed? Thanks so much if anyone can help me
bump....any suggestions would be so appreciated!

Hi there, did come right as I have the exact same problem...
EFS simply restore your backed up EFS folder .
Hi guys, I have had Xperia C from about 2 days. I wanted to root it to change the system fonts and I did root it successfully. But when i replaced the system fonts using ROM TOOLBOX, the phone was stuck at the boot animation.
I do a hard reset by entering recovery mode, but nothing was changed, the phone is still stuck at the boot animation.
Can someone help me please??

You could try putting the phone into download mode, and then use a flash tool (developer.sonymobile com/downloads/tool/flash-tool-for-xperia-devices/) to flash the phone back to stock.
This is a stock ROM: 4shared com/rar/wdOnCZw4/xperia_c_c2305_sony html
It may not be the stock ROM for your phone, you'll need to make sure it's 2305..

You could call it flash mode I guess, yeah.
But before trying a full flash, try going into recovery mode and selecting Wipe data/factory reset.
This will fix problems 99% of the time.
Also, I found a video that might aid you. I haven't watched it, but by the title it seems like it could help you.

Hello everyone!
I was using the Android L without any problems, but when i saw this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...android-lollipop-stock-factory-image-t2908890) - that there is a backup image, for download via TWRP, i did it and followed all the steps.
Everything went fine, but my phone was pretty much dead. no internet connection or phone signal.
So, i decided to install the preview ROM of the Android 5, via ADB (available by Google), but my signal was fluctuating a lot.
Then, i tried to install the Stock ROM 4.4.4, but failed again (fluctuating signal and no 3G or LTE) - Only 2G and my phone is restarting often.
Do you guys have any idea to help me? Or did i screwed my Nexus 5?
Thank you very much.

Wipe cache and Dalvik cache. Maybe format cache and reflash it in fastboot for good measure. If that doesn't work and you don't have an EFS backup then there isn't anything you can do about your IMEI.

Then I heard about OctoPlus Box ( http://octoplusbox.com/) that can do this kind of repair. But from what I saw, it requires a specific hardware.
I will refer you for assistance, but I think they will want to replace the motherboard and it should come out pretty expensive.

Means you're having exactly the same problem I had.I tried different ways and techniques to fix it but none worked. Then finally I fixed it by just flashing my device's stock firmware. But still there may be another simpler fix for your particular device so just try googling around the internet, mentioning your device and its problem, if nothing works then just flash it's stock firmware. But just in case you don't know how to, just take it to the nearest Samsung service centre and hopefully the guys there will flash its stock firmware. Just for your information, before I manually tried flashed the stock firmware, I also did take my device to a service centre first, but they found out it was rooted and they said they couldn't fix it and they said that the only way it was to replace its motherboard, which costs more than half the phone's total price. But when I took it home I finally decided to flash the firmware manually and thus, the device is up and running again.

Hello,
I have Samsung Duos 2 two years ago, and rooted it 1 year ago via Odin with a rom i dont remember the name, it was working perfectly until yesterday I was customizing it "using only OS built in settings, no 3rd party apps" Suddenly the phone turned off and restarted, then stuck at the samsung logo. I think it went a soft brick!
I tried wiping cash but it give an error. I don't care for the phone, I i have photos "very important" and whatsapp/SMS messages "less important" that I want to recover them.
question1: if I re-rom it via Odin, will this wipe my data [photos/messages]?
question2: I read a post that factory reset only wipe apps and app data but no personal data, I want a confirm.
thanx in advance

No re-rom wont wipe the data and will most probably fix the bootloop if it does not then you will have to flash the stock firmware via odin.
And you read wrong i guess it wipes almost everything and mostly factory reseting wont fix bootloop. Btw i recommend waiting atleast 5 mins for the phone to boot to conform whether its bootlooped or not (my personal experience of thinking i got a bootloop after flashing somethin but the next time i did it i waited and there was no bootloop). One last thing was the Rom like stock ? If yes then its a prerooted firmware i guess.
btw do you have twrp? Its not necessary but if u have twrp tell me.

download TWRP, flash it via odin: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572369360126141
now go to recovery mode, plug it to your computer, you will found the device as MTP and have internal storage exposed, you can grab files from there

Its not necessary but if u have twrp tell me.

thanx for the reply, I did waited for the phone to boot for a couple of hours! and it 100% bootlooped and the phone was rooted with a rom like stock.
by mentioning twrp, i will give it a try.
one last question because I was willing to do that now, I was downloading the original firmware from samsung will this be a flashing or romming, i am kinda new to these things.

when you writing firmware/recovery to your phone, it's called flashing, by flashing stock rom you will not losing data unless you do a factory reset in recovery
glad i could help!

@sandpox thanks
I did the twrp thing and succefully backed-up my data. so mission 1 is accomplished
mission 2: bringing my phone back online, in twrp i wiped all my phone! i downloaded a S6 rom and installed it via twrp, but the phone does not boot, just a black screen so i wiped again! i cannot flash the stock firmware via twrp. can I use odin? and how?
I mentioned above I am new to these android stuff, sorry for annoying you and thanks for your replies.
Download stock firmware on: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=Gt-s7582
And flash it in Odin like you've flash the TWRP
After flash finished, go to stock recovery and factory reset

@aquabigo did you do factory reset through twrp? If not. Btw after the stock firmware you will have to install twrp again and if you want root you can use kingroot or kingo root app

anyway, the backup would not save me if I did one, the OS was already down. the only thing I was caring for was the data. now I will try saving the phone for the next 2 days -thanks to your help- and if I fail, I state its death! :crying:

Using the stock firmware or the Rom you ussd before is the solution dont use any other rom and if flashing the firmware didnt fix you should try wiping system using twrp and then flash the stock firmware again

you should have download mode even have TWRP flashed
remove battery, put battery in, hold HOME + volume down + power button, after phone boot up then it will show warning message, press volume up to enter download mode then you can flash stock rom using odin
