[Q] Untextured Back Replacement - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

Perhaps an odd request, but I'm not the biggest fan of the faux leather backing of the Note 4. Are there any 3rd party back replacements that are plain and untextured? I looked on AliExpress and found some crappy-looking aluminum textured back replacements, but I'm going for a minimalist look. If not, I suppose I could always just get a plain white vinyl skin and place it on top, but I figured I'd check to see if the replacement back exists first.

I think the vinyl is best because it's prob cheaper or dame price and you don't run the risk of damaging your back plate tab grooves with a third party cover. Just my 2 cents. Have a black matte vinyl coming.

looking for a case. hard/soft

There are so many cases to choose from. Could you recommend one that fits these requirements?
Transparent
Should not cover the three dock pins.
Not too thick so I can still use the google sleeve.
under $10, as most of them are under $5
If you own a case please let me know if it makes it harder to press the power button.
There are a bunch of "Skytouch" cases on meritline for <$4 shipped. Anyone have these?
http://www.meritline.com/newsearch.aspx?category=Cell+Phone+Case&SearchTerm=skytouch+nexus
I just got one from hand held items and the snap on are pieces of crap. I placed a screen protector on it and it made the protector bubble. Wont even snap close
I've been looking for a case as well and so far all I've found is basically junk.
Rubber TPU cases from dcmuggen on ebay are good wont fit in stock case all your gonna find that fit in the sleeve are skins and for those I recommend BSE http://www.bestskinsever.com/cell-phones/smart-phones/google-nexus-one-skin-1.html
Really though to meet your requirements a skin is your only choice if you want great protection though...
Then you cant go wrong here http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csr3hnx1-bk.htm
Use code LOVE2010 will save you a couple bucks.
Thanks for the info NexVision.
I was looking at TPU...waiting for a plain transparent version without the check-box pattern.
BSE-- Is this just a scratch protector for the phone? The link above only shows a pic of the bare phone.
The seidio is nice but too expensive for me. $30.
BSE is a skin adheres directly to the phone almost like nothing is there just a thin plastic coating basically.
The TPU cases I as referring to where these http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300389191608&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I bought the 5 pack since I have one my girl has one and my buddy has one.
The grey and black are the best IMO with the grey it matches the color of the phone and comes with a good screen protector as well.
Heres some pics of the cases http://picasaweb.google.com/nexvision/Cases?feat=directlink
Since then I got my black one in also and I like it. the red sticker comes right off and the empty space lines right up with the HTC on the back of the phone.
If strictly under $10 you really are looking for some junky stuff.
I mean I have always heard about the almost arriving seidio case that i ordered.
and currently use this one which I'm very pleased with the build quality, fit & accessibility of the phone itself:
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_11000561_11000885&products_id=28070
genuinely pleased, hope i will like my seidio when it arrives too
I got a silicone case. It fits the N1 perfect and would protect it pretty good from a drop.

OK, so snap on cases are out.
Leaning towards the grey TPU case now.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and where to find one?

I got the case from PDair too. Before I use the product from PDair,I try one from ebay, but the quality seems too worse so, I prefer to buy one in high quality but with higher price.

Trident Aegis

Trident has the aegis case up on their website for G2x. They only seem to have it in blue and green right now though.
Ordered a green one- will let you know, maybe get some pics up.
Also Fortte supposedly has a leather case in the works, but no details on it. I decided I wanted the ability to use the phone after I had a previous bookstyle case for a blackjack. That was a pain to make a call on.
Like the way it looks but also looks bulky?
Review and pictures would be appreciated.
http://www.tridentcase.com/product_67_92.html
It seems to be available in Black, Blue, Green, Pink and Red now. I am eager to hear how you like the case once you get it.
just from looking at the picture it looks gigantic i dun think its for everyone, more for like outdoor ppl or ppl who always break there phone. But it does look solid but could be better. They should make a slimmer version of the case.
Hey, these looks great!
I might pick up one while I wait for an otter-box, if they ever come around.

It's definitely going to add bulk to it. I have the Aegis for the myTouch 4G. It's bulky but provides very good protection for your phone.
Edit: If you guys are not in a hurry I would suggest waiting for this case to become available at CyclopsCase.com. I think they are a distributor for Trident cases. They are $10 cheaper. That's where I bought my Aegis case and it was shipped for free too.
just ordered the green. I have been a fan of the trident cases for a long time, the cases are top, top quality and offer amazing protection. I had a cyclops on my old MT4G and it was a beast, the Aegis does not look as bulky, but i am sure it will protect very well. I will post pics when it arrives.
The green and red one looks nice. I want to get one later on.
Review of Trident Aegis case for G2x (green)
$30 for case and screen protector
Bought this case to get corner and drop protection- I chose this over a Tech21 Nexus S slip case or a fortte leather case (not released yet) or PDair case because with the touchscreen, I didn't want to have to remove it, use it, put it back in. I wanted quick out of pocket check of email/calendar, back into pocket. I had a book style case (pdair) with an older blackjack II, and I hated the flap front cover when I wanted to make a call.
Shipping was fast via USPS, however I didn't get the screen protector in the box for some reason- the tape did not look neat, so I can't say if it got opened and pilfered in transit. I still have the OEM film protector that came with it, so I will just wait for a new ship of the screen protector from Trident customer service and have that as a backup.
Inner silicone is smooth- doesn't feel tacky to the touch at all so I don't think it will attract dust/lint like other more rubbery silicone. Hard polycarbonate is also smooth, though it doesn't feel like hard plastic that will chip, so that is good. I was worried about Seido as they have many forum posts about corners and tabs breaking. This doesn't feel like it will chip or break away unless I purposefully snapped it.
The final fit is good- it isn't super snug like some of the trident iPad and iPod reviews suggest. It isn't looks- it fits well, and I feel like I could get it apart without hassle to pull the battery if I wanted to.
Ports are covered with silicone tabs- volume and power work well- you have to give a little push since it is below the silicone. Tabs fit right below the hard polycarbonate to keep the in place. Micro USB cable plugs in well- the only port I may have to get an extender with is the 3.5 mm headphone jack since i have an L shaped jack instead of straight jack. It would have to fit with the L portion pushing out over the tab (think due south if looking straight at jack) and couldn't fit at any other angle out (north/west/east), but I think the extender that Trident has (which wasn't in stock when I ordered) would be the best option. Ill probably get something from Amazon or monoprice.
Camera holes and proximity sensor are holes- no plastic covering them, which is fine with me.
Fit in pocket (for a guy) is fine- it doesn't really add much unnecessary bulk. Width is about 11/16 of an inch, height is about 4 and 14/16. Phone/case is about as thick as my older BlackJack II without its case, so I am fine with it.
Overall I am happy with it. I can't say anything about the screen protector until I get a replacement, but I won't be using it until the OEM one peels off. I've never held an Otterbox so I can't compare quality, but frankly I don't think the O'box would be much different in quality. Or at least to justify waiting/pleading with them to get a case out for the G2x. I think it works for my needs- if I had decided on a leather case, I probably would have either gone with the Tech21 Nexus S (same dimensions) or waited to see what Fortte came out with, since Noreve and Sena are too expensive. I wish it was $20-$25, but I can see some of the engineering that went into it so I'm not too worried about the price.
Pros-
Nice non tacky silicone and polycarbonate shell.
Ports are covered but can be accessed.
Camo green is a nice green
Fit is secure but not too tight that I can't take it out.
Cons-
Wish they had more colors for the silicone (would have done a black poly shell with orange silicone to go with my company colors). They have this for the iPhone and a few others.
3.5 mm port likely needs an extender for L-shaped headphone jacks
Screen protector missing, but that may be a problem during shipping. Am not too worried about CS helping me out with this one.
Wish it would have cost $5 less, but it had free shipping, so evens out in the end.

The case looks great! I ordered the green one too! Cannot wait to get it. Thanks for the over view and awesome pics.
Just got the blue one, this is def the best case around.....just as good as a otterbox
FYI- Trident replied to my inquiry about the screen protector, and said that the case does not come with one- it was an error during the first few days of creating the store entry. So don't expect one with the case.
Just received mine in the mail today. 3 days flat which is good going. I got the green and black and could not be happier. The rubber surround is very thick and offers a lot of protection, it will definitely protect against a serious drop.
The back of the case is a hard plastic, but it has a great rubber texture to it.
For the price you cannot go wrong. I have always used trident cases on my phones and have never been disappointed and the same goes for this case. I highly recommend it
Got mine today. I to went with the green. This is a great case I'm very pleased with it. I wish they would make one of there other series that have the screen cover but I asked on facebook an was told there is no plans on making any other series at this point

My take on Trident case
Shipping was really fast. I ordered on Monday and got it in yesterday. I got the red/black one for my G2x, and pink/black Aegis case for the Samsung Galaxy S 4g for my lady. Was really impressed with the build, the grip, and especially the tabs that cover the ports. At first I was totally happy with the size...until I put my girl's on. The design of her case was made to keep her phone both protected and without adding too much bulk to it. I admit I was jealous at first, but that all changed once my phone and case was tested. My phone got thrown about 3 feet from my really high bed, onto my really hard tiled floor. Was worried, but the case did its job. Had it not been for the design of the case, my phone would of been totaled. It really helped protecting the G2x. Overall satisfaction is at it's highest. Definitely recommend this case to anyone wanting to protect their phone without worrying too much about size. Hope this post helps

Just ordered the black one from ebay. $23 shipped... not bad.
After heavy research I decided to try this brand out. I've never owned a Trident case before but as far as protection goes, this looks like the best case out for the g2x.
We shall see!
Had a Cyclops for my vibrant ordered a blue one yesterday shipped out today. If the case in n e thing like my Cyclops for my vibrant I will be happy with it.

I just picked one up from ebay myself...ordered the blue for $21 and change with free shipping...expected delivery will be the 24-25th. I figure it will be nice to have something like this for when I'm out doing recreation, and keep my seidio for business and nightlife.

Looking for a black cover that has a non-slip, rubbery feel

I've gone through 4 stores now and haven't found a case I like. I want a soft one that has a grippy, rubber texture so that it won't slip around where I put it down in my car. The only one I've found so far that feels right is this one, but it only comes in "clear" which is really translucent white.
On amazon, I like the look of this one, and this one, but can't tell if they are rubbery.
If anyone has any suggestions that come from personal experience actually feeling the case, please let me know. I'd appreciate it.
Edit:I just bought the rooCASE, because it says it has free returns. I'll update if I'm happy with it, but I'd still love to hear suggestions.
Diztronic makes a great black tpu case that is fairly grippy. I have one for sale if you want to give it a try. I decided to stick with my navy samsung case instead.
Pm me if your interested. Its in brand new condition.

Thanks for the reply. Is it this one? I'll keep it in mind in case the one I bought isn't good, but I doubt it would be worth it for you to sell it to me for less than the $10 it would cost me from amazon. Thanks though.

Looking for a replacement door for exactly the same thing myself. Don't like cases so I ordered a replacement battery cover from China hoping that will be less slippery:
http://m.aliexpress.com/item/922678823.html
They have brushed aluminium ones too, but I feared those would be thicker and stop the phone from fittin in docks.
I received the replacement door and I'm pretty happy with. Feels much better in the hand. Like the matte finish better than the original shiny one too.
Only issue is that it's thicker. Which means that it doesn't fit in my dock.
I bought a carbon fiber looking one and it actually has some texture to it.
It is thicker than the stock battery cover but I think everything is because that one is so thin.
The carbon fiber one looks nicer, fits flush and has a little bit of texture.
Not sure it would do what you need it to, which is stick to your car.
Why don't you buy one of those pads you lay down and it allows any phone to stick to it?

Pics of the battery cover that I ordered are on the site:

Still love it. Feels just so much better. Looks more stylish too with a proper black battery cover. I went for the black on black cover on my "black" S4.
The lattice bit is glued to a plastic frame. I've seen other patterns too.
Any other newer options?
The carbon fiber one I bought I am not too thrilled with.. its pretty thick compared to stock.
I really liked the Galaxy nexus battery cover, it was textured and non shiny (no finger prints)

Any problems with signals with this back cover? Nfc. Lte. Wifi?
Sent from my SGH-I337M using xda app-developers app
No, no problems with reception. It's just a plastic/rubberized back cover.
Only difference is that it's a millimeter thicker, so with cases and docks it's probably not going to fit. Which is rather annoying cause I like to use a desktop cradle for charging at night. I have trouble hooking up the phone in the dark Ordered myself some wireless charging items though so that should be solved soon too.
Sounds like you want a silicone case, they're the grippy nonslip rubbery ones, stacks of them of all types on Amazon or eBay.
just a thoughtm have u considered plastidip? Just take off the back cover and spray it on.
heard of people doing plasti deep and it scrapes off after a while

Good point, im going to try it. haha. Ive been wrapping mine in vinyl. time to twist it up
anyone have any other ideas for a back cover?
The carbon fiber one was not as good as I expected. not much texture to it, doesnt really improve grip or the slippery feel from stock, also its a bit thicker then stock cover.
The plastic dip will be rubbed off, the corners will fray after you put your phone in your pocket a couple of times. I really really wish it worked, since the feel is amazing, but due to the amount of friction the back cover encounters everyday, the rubber will rub off soon enough, guaranteed.

3rd Party Back Covers: Kevlar, Denim, Metal, etc.?

Ever since I saw that Note 4 leak during the summer I've wanted that rough textured back cover, similar to what the One Plus One has in Sandstone Black. Anyone seen 3rd party back covers appear anywhere? I haven't seen any and that's disappointing.
I had one for my Note 3. The back cover is thicker, you can't put any case on it. If you use your phone naked then invest in one. The aluminum one that I had looks pretty cool.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Check ebay I have seen some on there leather, aluminum, wood, Kevlar too unfortunately not available somewhere close by to check em out before buying but they where cheap $6-$8 and I think it was free shipping
Check skinomi and I phantomskins. They've got great stuff. Had a black and grey carbon fiber ones on my Droid X and GS3. Going with a case on the N4. Want to keep it pristine.

Thanks for the suggestions. I never use a case so I'm not worried about the back cover affecting the shape of the phone. I wish more official 3rd party companies would produce more of a variety.
I am sure in time you will have all kinds of cover available.
Ebay has some already.

Bumpers: Metal? Rubber other than Hula? Clear backed?

Today I just picked up a mint condition Moto X 2014, customized on top of customized. Black face with black front accents and a bamboo back with a silver frame and silver rear accents. I couldn't ask for a better color combination. Now I'm having trouble picking out a case. Of course I want the bamboo to show, but I also want to keep the metal from getting dinged up. And even more so, I want to protect the glass edges on the front. I'd like to get a bumper, but Hula is the only backless rubber bumper I've found. Unfortunately, nobody has them in black at the moment, and I don't like the colors that are currently available. I also don't like the look of the 100% clear rubber cases on a black face.
So, has anybody tried one of the metal bumpers found all over eBay? I like the look but I'm concerned that a metal bumper on the metal frame would cause scratches. Or even worse, if the metal bumper were to abrade against the wood back there could be scratches or gouges in the finish. Any experience or opinions here?
Also, does anybody know of a rubber bumper case with an open back besides the Hula? Or even better, a rubber case that has black edges and a full clear back? I'll probably end up getting a Supcase Unicorn Beetle for now because that's as close as I can find. But the back of the Supcase is opaque, not fully clear, and it has colored grip areas that intrude into the wood space on the sides of the back. I looked at the Poetic Affinity, but that looks too industrial for me. Especially when compared to the seriously awesome look of the naked Moto. I know I probably sound absurdly picky, but we're talking about a phone where one of it's most touted features is the ability to customize it, right?
Oh, and I tried to search the Accessories forum, but the search bar seems to be missing on my screen. So I spent the last 4 hours manually searching through the threads here and cross-referencing them with Google. If anybody has any ideas, suggestions or input, I'd be very happy to hear it. Especially if it involves customizing of accessories.

I have the same color combination on my phone.
I have the SUPCASE, black surround with frosted back. The actual frosting on mine is very slight, almost perfectly clear.
I also found this case on Amazon which might fit your needs:

I am currently using a Case-mate Gelli Case for Moto X. Same as this case sold through the Motorola store but I bought it through Ebay for much less:

I like this case a little better than the other because it fits in my holster better and just feel better in my hand but it does not offer the same level of protection as the others.

This one appears to have a black edge with a clear back which would be PERFECT if I could find it for sale anywhere. The Motorola site doesn't have any, the Case-mate site doesn't even list the Gelli series for our phone, and there's none to be found on eBay or Amazon. If you, or anyone else knows where I can get one, I'd be extraordinarily thankful. Or perhaps if someone on here has one to sell, I'm all ears.
