There are so many cases to choose from. Could you recommend one that fits these requirements?
Transparent
Should not cover the three dock pins.
Not too thick so I can still use the google sleeve.
under $10, as most of them are under $5
If you own a case please let me know if it makes it harder to press the power button.
There are a bunch of "Skytouch" cases on meritline for <$4 shipped. Anyone have these?
http://www.meritline.com/newsearch.aspx?category=Cell+Phone+Case&SearchTerm=skytouch+nexus
I just got one from hand held items and the snap on are pieces of crap. I placed a screen protector on it and it made the protector bubble. Wont even snap close
I've been looking for a case as well and so far all I've found is basically junk.
Rubber TPU cases from dcmuggen on ebay are good wont fit in stock case all your gonna find that fit in the sleeve are skins and for those I recommend BSE http://www.bestskinsever.com/cell-phones/smart-phones/google-nexus-one-skin-1.html
Really though to meet your requirements a skin is your only choice if you want great protection though...
Then you cant go wrong here http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csr3hnx1-bk.htm
Use code LOVE2010 will save you a couple bucks.
Thanks for the info NexVision.
I was looking at TPU...waiting for a plain transparent version without the check-box pattern.
BSE-- Is this just a scratch protector for the phone? The link above only shows a pic of the bare phone.
The seidio is nice but too expensive for me. $30.
BSE is a skin adheres directly to the phone almost like nothing is there just a thin plastic coating basically.
The TPU cases I as referring to where these http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300389191608&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I bought the 5 pack since I have one my girl has one and my buddy has one.
The grey and black are the best IMO with the grey it matches the color of the phone and comes with a good screen protector as well.
Heres some pics of the cases http://picasaweb.google.com/nexvision/Cases?feat=directlink
Since then I got my black one in also and I like it. the red sticker comes right off and the empty space lines right up with the HTC on the back of the phone.
If strictly under $10 you really are looking for some junky stuff.
I mean I have always heard about the almost arriving seidio case that i ordered.
and currently use this one which I'm very pleased with the build quality, fit & accessibility of the phone itself:
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_11000561_11000885&products_id=28070
genuinely pleased, hope i will like my seidio when it arrives too
I got a silicone case. It fits the N1 perfect and would protect it pretty good from a drop.

OK, so snap on cases are out.
Leaning towards the grey TPU case now.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and where to find one?

I got the case from PDair too. Before I use the product from PDair,I try one from ebay, but the quality seems too worse so, I prefer to buy one in high quality but with higher price.
I think I'm about to inherit my wife's Nexus 4 since I'm giving her BB Z10 to try out and I need some sort of case.
I'm a contractor so I need some kind of case/pouch with clip on to my belt that would keep my phone secure.
I have Iphone 3 and use otterbox defender and I hated the case ever since I got it, bulky and looks like I'm carrying a satellite phone
Any recommendations ?
Mybat is your best bet. Its bulky, but bulky provides good protectiin

I got a seidio active today and I'm happy with it. I'm a glazier and I work new commercial buildings, etc. Its tough enough.
The Seido cases seem like the only ones I can find with good phone protection and a hard shell covering the screen, which is exactly what I want. I especially like the Convert model. I can't speak for bulkiness, but that is not a priority for me. Unfortunately they are just way too expensive; $70 for a piece of plastic....come on. I am surprised that someone has not come out with a cheap knockoff, but then again the availability of accessories for the Nexus 4 is pretty pitiful. I ordered a poorly rated Amzer case in the meantime just to have hard shell screen protection until a better case comes along.
The one thing missing the cases that are being sold by brand named companies is rubber flaps could cause covering the headphone jack and the USB port to prevent dust or humidity from getting in there. There are only two cases that have this and they are both on ebay.
I have this one and it already saved by phone from a fall off my bike! They also have them in other colors, and you can't beat the price!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALL-BLACK-R...846038?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item589d293716
This one right here appears to be the most heavy duty case I've seen for the Nexus 4, it even has a cover for the speaker! And again it's for an amazing price and a lot of color choices!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deluxe-Rubb...6?pt=PDA_Accessories&var=&hash=item460d4a7818
Just because the case is made by a popular brand, it doesn't mean it's really that good, look at how many disappointed Otterbox user are there. For what is worth; these cases are worth a shot!

I like the first one you posted, the only thing is that I'm not sure if it will support wireless charging
I'm using a ballistic case. There isn't any covers over the ports, but I've dropped it several times and no issues have come of it.
I work in a kitchen and have slammed the back of the case into stainless steel tables on accident (screen is always towards my leg) with no issues.
It also works well with the charging orb. The back of the case helps the grip of the orb.

This case does work with wireless charging on my orb. It may be a little sensitive with the height range ( the inductive ring is a little below center on the phone). It does work though and does not slide. This case really doesn't get enough credit for what it is. It's not as thick as it looks and isn't too bad with pocket lint.
That other case looks good, but I can't tell if it's a 2 piece design or just 1 piece. If it's one piece TPU I might be a little concerned with scratching up the chrome bezel with sharp corners. This case does appear to be a little too thick for wireless charging.

I didn't notice that; Is there is a hard plastic cover that protects the entire screen as part of the holster? If so, I would definitely pick one up.
Also, is the top and bottom of the phone protected as I see other cases where that is completely exposed?
Finally, I would appreciate it if you could give me the dimensions, especially the width as installed on the phone. I want to get the proper mount that has enough range to accept the width.
Thanks.

The case it 2.9 inches wide by 5.5 in tall by 0.65 in thick or 74 x 140 x 17 mm. And if I understand correctly the hard plastic corners do wrap around to the top and bottom slightly, but there is not exactly hard plastic in the middle of the top and bottom.
Just FYI, I messaged a seller about that second ebay case with the port covers and it's a one piece TPU so it probably isn't as nice of a fit or as shock absorbing. It also looks to be a little thicker on the back surface.
Yeah, the hard plastic only wraps around d to the front in six areas, all corners and in the middle on the sides. If you want some pictures let me know. The case is much slimmer than it appears and much less bulky then the mybat but at the same time it probably offers a little less protection because the mybat has hard plastic on the front.

Thanks tomhub389 and jlear3, I am going to order one.
I used a Seidio Active with the holster for my SGH-T989, Galaxy SII, and loved it. Add to it, while I was removing the phone from the case/skeleton I managed to break a corner off. I sent in a pic of the damage to Seidio and they sent me a brand new skeleton and soft shell at no charge with no questions asked. That's a damn good warranty if you ask me. Long story short, I have a Seidio Active on my Nexus 4 now. Also, they work with wireless charging.

2 Suggestions
First case I got was a Ionic Guardian. It was $5 shipped, and very nice for the money. Some don't like the weird pattern on back, but I got this so if I drop it or something, it doesn't get hurt http://www.amazon.com/Ionic-GUARDIAN-Armor-Google-Nexus/dp/B00A06Z41E
Just ordered this one because it has the dust covers built in, and a kickstand. I hope to use this as the daily driver. The Ionic was amazing in quality for $5, and I hope this new one matches that quality: http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Resolute-OA3-Nexus-Case/dp/B000LGBZR0
The kickstand and slightly better looks are a bonus.
Hello all,
I've always only had the Otterbox Commuter as my one and only case for phones, and with them being so slow to get out the color I want for the S4, I was wondering if I should keep waiting for a bit longer or go with another choice like the Incipio DualPro or Seidio Active. I don't have any experience with either of them, so I'm wondering if anyone who has used them can shed some light (both good and bad) on them.
Thanks.

Incipio Dual Pro is horrible. Fitment is off and constantly slips on an end, exposing the screen with no lip coverage. Luckily it was free from the ATT store for me, but i wish i chose a different case from them. I ended up ordering a minimalist JL case from amazon anyway.
I have an Incipio case and I think it's great. Probably the best case I've had for a phone. Only like $25 too.

Consider having a look see at the Casemate Toughcase if you like the otterbox, its actually less bulky while providing better protection for the phone. I'm very surprised this case doesn't see more play here becuase its a truly good case and I get people asking my out of the blue what it is and where I purchased it. I've got probably a dozen friends on it now and I did nothing to convince them, they mauled and pawed at the case for a few and were sold. If you are of a mind you can quickly pull up a few reviews on youtube of the case.
I've been using the Seidio Active case for a few days now. I used a 10% off coupon I found searching Google and it came out to $31 shipped. I bought the one with the grooves for your fingers. Also has a kickstand. I pull out the kickstand when holding the phone and put my ring finger under the kickstand so I have a good hold of the phone and my thumb can reach more of the screen. Kickstand also comes in handy with the smart stay option so the screen won't turn off when I'm reading. It is easy to take on and off so I can get to the battery easily. All the proper cut outs are there and are lined up perfectly. Complaints - When typing or pushing the menu / back key my fat fingers will hit the edge of the case. I just have to work on using the tip of my thumb. Depending on the angle of the phone you may not be able to see the notification light. There are covers for the volume and power button which took some getting used to but I can now hit them without looking.

How well does that case work with a glass screen protector?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I have the Incipio Dual Pro Carbon now as my temporary case. The rubber is constantly coming off from around the lip. You see the silver when this happens. Not a huge deal but in a drop it won't be that good. Also the silicone grabs a little bit of lint.
Seidio active... I have it on my Nexus 7 and had it on my Note 1.... Huge lint magnet, OLD OLD design, silicone can be warped and won't lay flat in some areas.
Otterbox Commuter.... I will order one of the colored models when available. Buttons were terrible on the S3 but it seems to have an improved design....Putting the case on seems to be better than the S3... Overalll good design.
I also ordered the Cygnett Workmate... It seems to cover the issues from the other case and offers better grip... I will know in a couple of weeks.

The edges of the case do come over the top of the device to the screen side but this is only the softer inner portion of the case and I'm thinking it would work fine but I do not use screen protectors so I'm not certain. You can see it pretty clearly in some of the youtube videos of the case so you should be able to make a call from that. A link is here ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l3X7Oxgx5I and the same fellow reviews several others which might catch your interest as well.
I've included a couple pictures that show something you cant see there. The one is of my year old S3 case next to my brand new S4 case. Notice how the thing still looks new? The other seems like kind of an oddball picture but what you are looking at is the largest portion of the soft inner case and the thing to notice there is the lack of lint. While these do catch a tiny bit of lint it is very little as you can see there. I did not clean the case up, it went from my pocket to the drawer after my S4 got here.
On my S3 I have had my phone in that case directly alongside a friend who had his in a commuter case and we both agreed that this case felt better in the hand and it had a more premium feel. It also has better grip but does not hang in the pocket. He in fact is one of the people I know who ditched his case and got the Casemate instead. Now I've obviously not seen the Otterbox for the S4 yet but it appears much like the Casemate counterpart to be pretty much a rehash and I would expect that they will compare similarly again.

I bought mine (Dual Pro) at a TMob store. I totally disgaree regarding overlapping screen. It TOTALLY protects the screen via it's superb fit overlapping. Plus it has a nice "feel just holding it'. Used to have a Body Glovefor my S3. The bodyglove was on the thick side and it just didn't have the same tactile feeling when holding the phone. Mine is black with Grey...IOW two tone. Only saw it in a TMob store. Solid colors online from this link.

Man, that is some kind of funky back they have there. How does it feel? What is it?
And you said that Casemate offers better protection than the Commuter, any links to vids/proof to this? Cause if that's true, then that's a great deal. It looks like it is as bulky as the DualPro. Lastly, how are the colors with the Casemate? Got sick of all black, and that's why I've been looking elsewhere while waiting for the Commuter colors. Thanks.
Incipio DualPro
I purchased my Incipio DualPro from an AT&T store ($35 + tax) just to have something to protect the phone while I figure out what I really want as far as a case. I went in to get the cheapest thing they had but really liked the look of the fake carbon fiber which looks even better in person. But, the silicone layer is so loose and floppy that even with the stiff Plextonium frame:laugh:, it won't hold its shape leaving the bezel exposed where the fancy named frame isn't. This case had the makings of a winner.
Love this look:
Hate this:
Returned to AT&T store today!
The outer shell is plastic. It has the appearence of the knurling you see on a ratchet handle for example. In person it looks good and has a better feel than that of the Otterbox counterpart. The bulk of the case is about the same as the commuter, it is designed for protection and those who would avoid the Otterbox commuter for that reason would want to avoid it as well. That said it is slighly less bulky than its commuter counterpart because it is thinner.
As to protection there are no sure proofs, no 1000 phones dropped and here is the absolute numbers, test. You have to look at the case and make a judgement. The casemate clearly covers the corners better and has a better fit which combined with what are visibly better materials means you can pretty much figure your phone has a better chance than it does in the commuter. There is no sure thing. I had my S2 and then S3 both in the same case for those phones and while I haven't dropped the S4 yet I did have occasion to drop both of those several times and neither suffered a scratch although again no case will protect against bad luck.
In regards to the colors, I've no idea. I always go black so have never looked. Best bet might be to check the case out in a store. Its popular enough that I noticed our AT&T shop here had some on the shelf for S3s. Or if you have a case kiosk at the mall they will likely have one and you can check out the material yourself. Casemate has many other cases but I have no experience with them. I was Otterbox all the way till I ran into the toughcase which just plain out commuters the commuter at its own game. IMO
Looking at the dimensions of all the products, it looks like Casemate is the bulkiest, with Otterbox second, and Incipio DualPro the least bulkiest.
The one thing I'm not a fan of the Casemate from the pictures is that there seems to be more open exposed areas, especially at the top.
I ordered the Dual Pro case and have been waiting for it to come in.... I bought the Body Glove Dimensions case from the T-Mobile store just to have something on it until the Dual Pro case came in...The Dual Pro case looked really nice in the store but I want the white and gray one that they didn't have.. Now I'm hearing all the crappy reviews about the Dual Pro case and I'm having buyers remorse...Maybe I will get one from a good batch that will fit like a glove...UNLIKELY!!!! Anyway the Body Glove Dimensions case feels really good in my hand and looks nice however it doesn't protect anything just nice and slim.

Im not sure where you are getting your dimensions from but I can tell you from actually having both in my hand with the S3 the toughcase is slimmer. Since it appears that the Commuter is a reboot with a few minor changes just as the toughcase is for S4 I'm pretty sure you are going to see the same thing again. Also the only openings on the tough case are where the IR and headphone jacks are and the same applies on the bottom where there is no opening other than the two ports there. The Otterbox possesses exactly the same openings in their case and then unlike the otterbox the casemate piece does not have the wide open corners which are the single most likely spot for the phone to hit in a drop.
lol Sometimes you just cant let a favorite go, I do it myself. Either way you're getting a good case that stands a real chance of saving your overpriced ludicrously profitable for Samsung device so its all good. :good:

You do have to remember that those that have problems are usually the ones that take to online to complain, so just take all the amount of bad stuff with a grain of salt.

:silly: I think on the corners, they both go about it differently, Otterbox has the silicone there, and casemate has both, with the plastic outside. Bet they both have their own science reasons for doing it that way lol.
I'll wait it out a little while longer before deciding. I think my biggest concern about the casemate is that I won't like how the textured back feels.

I just saw that UAG (urban armor gear) is going to start shipping their cases soon.... might have to look into them now :/
Never had a one piece polycarbonate silicone case before.
The EVO 3d I'm using as a temp while I wait for my 4 is small enough to comfortably put in my pocket. My Note 2 was not. and the 4 is bigger...
I have been a fan of the Seido Surface cases in the past but the one weak point is the belt clip.
I've broken so many of them that it's ridiculous. I went through 4 holsters in 2 years on my Note 2 alone.
And I do not even want to add up the holsters on prior phones..
I need something metal that can take a small bump. I'd like a semi thin case like the surface but the holster has to be strong.
Can anyone recommend a sturdy clip on holster case?
Have you thought of moving to a leather holster case? I was in the same boat until I went to a leather combo with a metal clip.

I have tried some holster cases but they were either to clumsy to retrieve and store from quickly , or the clips were terrible like the rest.
Since I have never owned an Otter box I cant speak factually, but they have always seemed so bulky and the poly clip looks the same as the rest. Are the clips actually more durable compared to say the Seido clips?
There pretty much the same I've broke a few Otterbox's also….. Check out Turtleback Holster Leather Case fits Samsung Galaxy Note 3 without a Protective Case, interior fits 5 7/8" X 3 1/4" X 3/4" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I9LM2VW/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_zlcnub0RDDPV2
Although they're not yet released Seidio has several models available w/ holster.

I love the Seidio case/holster combos! (Specifically the Surface with Holster) My past two phones, however, have been the slip case/holster combo sold in the Verizon store for around $24.95. The reason I went with those is two-fold: It was available right away when I purchased the phone, and it is just slim and protective enough that it doesn't make my large phone into a gargantuan phone.
My Note2 in either an otterbox defender or trident aegis case lives in one of these. It's quite adjustable. Normally I have the retention strap removed unless I know I'm going to be in odd locations and I think it may fall out, though I'd have to be upside down for that to happen, but I've found myself in that position for work sometimes... I've broken every plastic clip from three different vendors, so this was the strongest holster I could find. Pretty sure I'll break before it does.

What is the lanyard/cord for at the top? It looks easily removable but wondering what purpose it serves.

These are actually made for two way radios like military and police carry, so the strap is to keep it in place.
Seidio Surface Combo (Case and Holster) due to ship 10/23
The Seidio Combo case and holster are up for pre-order and due to ship on 10/23. I've been using one for my Note 3 for a year with no problems. Slim fit and stays put until you need your phone!

Thanks for this:good: been looking for something like this, I ended up buying this cheapo one for about 6 bucks on ebay for the time being that works pretty well but the case looks ugly.

That link doesn't state it's for a Note 4 but the fact that it's a preorder leads me to believe it is although when you navigate to the Note 4 page on Seidio's website almost everything states "under development".
http://www.seidioonline.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-4-s/9431.htm
Other thing is Best Buy sells a comparable case made for them by Seidio for $20 less but they don't have them in stock yet. BB calls it a Platinum Series.

It does say for the note 4 in the description if you scroll down a bit.

Familiar features, such as our soft-touch coating and slide-in design, enhance the look and protect your Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Slip the case into a secure spring-clip SURFACE™ holster for the ultimate carrying solution for your Samsung Galaxy Note 4."

Yes, I missed that. Since it's not on the Note 4 page do you know if they have a release date for the Convert Combo somewhere on their website?

I have no idea. Maybe someone can give them a call or shoot over a email asking about the convert cases for the note. I'm more into slim type cases because I think it just looks more clean and I don't like the extra bulk, I usually don't drop my phones.

I called them last week and they said there was no ETA for the Convert combo. I noticed the Surface has the release date on Seidio's Note 4 webpage and I look at it daily so I'm hoping the Convert combo gets a release date soon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MP3OWVI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3RZJ9YYQ3ASDK
If it doesn't I'm going to order the above case as it's the only one I could find with covers for the mini USB, S Pen & headphone ports with a holster but it doesn't have a kickstand. Amazon shows an ETA of 10-27 in my shopping cart so I'm holding off ordering it hoping the Seidio will become available in that time frame.
Now the other problem with the Seidio is apparently no one offers a tempered glass screen protector that covers the flat portion of the screen without the halo effect.

I was looking at the supcase also but it's the bulk that bugs me.. The note is already a big phone... I'll be using this ebay case plus clip until I get a seidio.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Black-B.../371164711314?ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:U:US:1120
Not really a bad case... Just needed a belt clip for my note cuz I carry 2 phones, cigarettes, lighter, Chapstick, keys and wallet on me all the time lol. The only flaw with the ebay one is that it's not very pretty, but I'll choose that over a bulky case any day.

I've got to get something soon as I'm deathly afraid of dropping this expensive phone and damaging it. Actually I wouldn't have minded waiting another month or so to get the phone so I could have had the case beforehand but the $200 trade in deal was too good to pass up. A case with button covers is much easier for me to use too as I'm always accidentally touching the side buttons and I can grip the phone better.
I was looking for other cases for the Essential phone and came across the incipio.com website. they are currently listing two different cases. The Dualpro is a case I had not seen before it is a Dual Layer Protective case and available in three different colors.

I have the black DualPro case on the way from Cases.com. Incipio was out of stock.
I agree it is steep but this phone is so slick and the case looks solid.
I have the Tudia Tamm coming from Amazon $12.90 they have it in 3 different colors. It’s available on eBay also.

Please post pics and review When you get it.
I have the tudia case from Amazon and I'm looking for a better case. It is very thing and really lose on the sides. I'm want the incepio case but they don't have it in Amazon right now. Also the tudia case peels up my wet install screen protector, but I'm thinking any case will sure to the super slim bezels.

I just bought the dualpro from case.com...they have 10 percent off with code CASES
Mine says it will be here Friday, the wait is killing me. I have been handling this thing with kid gloves, leaving it in my pocket more than usual.
I plan on posting pics and providing my opinion of it. Unfortunately I do not use a screen protector, so I won't be able to speak on compatibility with one. I am going to put the round flat magnet from my vent phone holder (the round one with rubber feet) in between the two layers. I have had success with other cases and if it can confidently hold my Moto X Pure in place the Essential should not be an issue.
It seems like the case (DualPro) gets mostly favorable reviews in Amazon, I noticed that the Pixel price is around $10, where the Pixel 2 is still $29 (on Amazon). I am assuming that over time this case will get cheaper.
I have a similar case on my iPhone 6s made by iLuvvitt and it is rock solid and cost me less than $4 on sale.
Anyone else eyeing the Tudia Glost case that is being released on December 8th? I may pick up the Ocean Green one. It will be $19.90 on Amazon, $16.91 with 15% off coupon code on the page.

Im thinking that case companies are waiting to see if the phone is successful or not. With only 5k phones reported sold right off the start, Im sure case companies do not want to put time and money into an unsuccessful product. Now that you can get the phone from sprint for about 150 bucks im sure the sales and need for cases has gone way up. It seems that all the cases are back ordered.
My case is still not here, USPS says it was delayed. Hopefully it will be here today or Monday. Looks like everyone is out of stock, so at least I have one coming. Hindsight I should have ordered a backup (like the TAMM) on Amazon as soon as I ordered the phone. Live and learn.
Ordered mine from Incipio yesterday.. Got 50 % off and free shipping..

Grrr...out of stock on Incipio's site now
I was thinking of getting one and removing the back to have a bumper only (not sure why nobody has made a bumper case yet) currently have their regular one coming in a few days but I hate the look.
Like you I've been going naked for almost a week and handling it like a small child lol
Finally got my case! Feels premium for sure, but so does my $4 iLuvvitt dual layer case on my iPhone 6s.
Seriously though, it is a nice case. I feel like the inside TPU layer could be carried separately if desired. No issues using the round magnet that came with my vent phone mount between the layers. The rubbery finish on the outside layer shows oils from your hands when you handle it, but every case I have had like this is the same and can be wiped off easily with a microfiber towel.
It definitely adds bulk to the phone, but if you buy a dual layer case you should expect that. Rubber covering the buttons require a little bit of effort to press, cutouts are precise, and the OEM charger plugs in no problem. Having a raised case on the phone helps locate the fingerprint sensor easily.
I recommend it and would buy it again. I can't figure out how to post pics, Tapatalk won't allow me to attach anything.
