looking for a case. hard/soft - Nexus One Accessories

There are so many cases to choose from. Could you recommend one that fits these requirements?
Transparent
Should not cover the three dock pins.
Not too thick so I can still use the google sleeve.
under $10, as most of them are under $5
If you own a case please let me know if it makes it harder to press the power button.
There are a bunch of "Skytouch" cases on meritline for <$4 shipped. Anyone have these?
http://www.meritline.com/newsearch.aspx?category=Cell+Phone+Case&SearchTerm=skytouch+nexus

I just got one from hand held items and the snap on are pieces of crap. I placed a screen protector on it and it made the protector bubble. Wont even snap close

I've been looking for a case as well and so far all I've found is basically junk.

Rubber TPU cases from dcmuggen on ebay are good wont fit in stock case all your gonna find that fit in the sleeve are skins and for those I recommend BSE http://www.bestskinsever.com/cell-phones/smart-phones/google-nexus-one-skin-1.html
Really though to meet your requirements a skin is your only choice if you want great protection though...
Then you cant go wrong here http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csr3hnx1-bk.htm
Use code LOVE2010 will save you a couple bucks.

Thanks for the info NexVision.
I was looking at TPU...waiting for a plain transparent version without the check-box pattern.
BSE-- Is this just a scratch protector for the phone? The link above only shows a pic of the bare phone.
The seidio is nice but too expensive for me. $30.

BSE is a skin adheres directly to the phone almost like nothing is there just a thin plastic coating basically.
The TPU cases I as referring to where these http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300389191608&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I bought the 5 pack since I have one my girl has one and my buddy has one.
The grey and black are the best IMO with the grey it matches the color of the phone and comes with a good screen protector as well.
Heres some pics of the cases http://picasaweb.google.com/nexvision/Cases?feat=directlink
Since then I got my black one in also and I like it. the red sticker comes right off and the empty space lines right up with the HTC on the back of the phone.

If strictly under $10 you really are looking for some junky stuff.
I mean I have always heard about the almost arriving seidio case that i ordered.
and currently use this one which I'm very pleased with the build quality, fit & accessibility of the phone itself:
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_11000561_11000885&products_id=28070
genuinely pleased, hope i will like my seidio when it arrives too

I got a silicone case. It fits the N1 perfect and would protect it pretty good from a drop.
http://www.accessorygeeks.com/google-nexus-one-silicone-skins.html

OK, so snap on cases are out.
Leaning towards the grey TPU case now.

I'm looking for a snap on case, my friend had on on her iphone, and it had a plastic screen protector built in it it was a back and front and they clicked together... it was a good one because she dropped that phone all the time it was clear.. Anyone know what I'm talking about and where to find one?

I got the case from PDair too. Before I use the product from PDair,I try one from ebay, but the quality seems too worse so, I prefer to buy one in high quality but with higher price.

what's the the best looking case and glass-like screen protector for the nexus one?

idoes anyone know any? 'm looking to get a case that looks just as good as my nexus one without a case. the only decent one i've seen are the seidio and the matte boxwave. i've checked out the otter and case mate one. they seem pretty bulky and i really like the slimness of the nexus one.
also, which screen protector are the one that feels the closest to the nexus one without a screen protector on? i'm thinking of the ultimate screen guard from seidio or the boxwave one. i was thinknig of getting zagg invisibleshield but the rubbery feels of it starts to annoy me. plus it's a pain to install on there.
i know it's all subjective, but i would appreciate if some of you guys can introduce me to some of the one that you look or think that's good. i just want sometihng to protect it from scratch and minor drop since i usually take care of my stuffs pretty good.
thanks.
btw, what does anyone tihnk of the "ultra case"'s cases? they looks pretty nice.
I really like my Seidio Innocase II and I use a Steinheil screen protector. The Steinheil is by far the best screen protector I have used. It doesnt take away from the clarity of the screen at all and still has a glass like feel.
i heard the seidio case are fit tightly onto the phone. so will it peel off the screen protector if i try to put that Steinheil screen protector on? i was planning to get the ultimate screen guard from seidio because it;ll probably be compatible with the case since it's made seidio.
Best Case & Screen Protector
Otter Box cases are really durable and The Invisible Shield by Zagg is made from a Military Grade material that's also used to protect helicopter blades from rocks and pebbles.
i second otter box's durability! i used a defender on my 3g and it was outstanding. dropped my phone all the time and never received damage to the phone what so ever. there customer service is outstanding, they sent me at least two complete new sets. one after i broke my belt clip and a second when i had probs with the belt clip not holding the phone securely.
as for screen protector, check out http://www.bodyguardz.com/ . i currently have a zagg on my n1 and it's ok, but i'm done with it. just not tough enough for me. i plan on trying out bodygaurdz.
I like the Lux case for my N1. Search Amazon for "premium flexi nexus".
Less than $5 shipped. Fits nice and protects everything but the screen. It is flexible enough to get on and off easily, but slippery enough to get it in and out of your pocket without a hassle.
This case will work fine with any screen protector.

Love those, have 2....got bored and bought my second one on ebay for 99 cents after having a clear one for months.
I had the full body Invisishield by Zagg and it is quite durable but I have nothing to compare it to. I couldn't use it with my desk and car docks so I had to remove the shield on all parts except the battery cover and the screen.
The problem I am having with the AMOLED screen is the visibility in daylight outside. The invisishield neither helps or hurts outside visibility. Is there a screen protector that would help with daylight (outside) visibility?
not to be rude or anything....but the cases that you guys recommended doesn't seem to be what i want, especially the otter box cause it seems bulky. i want a case that's still slim and looks better than the nexus one naked. i got my eyes on the gelli case by case-mate, pure crystal slip on by boxwave and seidio......maybe i'm leaning more toward seidio. but i heard screen protector usually get peeled on the edge when u put on the seidio case. that's why i'm still holding back.
CaseMate Tough Case
http://www.case-mate.com/Google-Cases/Case-Mate-Google-Nexus-One-Tough-Cases.asp
I think this is the best looking case!
I just ordered Black/Blue.
I also read a review saying that it's not as thick as it looks in the pictures.
The best looking case is the one Google decided you should use with your phone, the Nexus Sleeve. If you don't want yours I'd like to have it/buy it from you. I love my sleeve and refuse to mame the ID of the N1 with some aftermarket case.
This is what I use except I went with Ghost Armor for the Screen protection.
I use Case Mate Barely There. Sorry, can't post link yet.
I don't like covering up the beauty of the Nexus One either with bulky aftermarket cases so I've only used skins on it since I bought it. I've tried just about every skin out... bodyguardz, zagg invisible skin, etc but the best one I've tried is from bestskinsever.com Its also the cheapest..only like $8 for a full body skin. I bought 2 because being so cheap, I wasn't sure of the quality or if I was going to have to replace it soon but I still have to 1st one on my Nexus. I've also bought one for all 3 of my iPod Touches and I'm getting ready to order one for my iPhone.
At only $8 each you don't really have to sweat messing it up when you install it..if you do, pull it off and put another one on.

Pure Crystal Slip by Boxwave is what I wound up with.. Same as you, I didn't want to hide my phone, make it look like a car tread, etc.. It looks very nice, and you can really barely tell the thing is on there. It's not as super low profile as a Best Skins Ever, but I think it'd give more cushion in case of a call, and I know it makes the N1 a hell of a lot easier to hold. The N1 is very thin on the sides and very smooth, so for me I'm glad to have something a little more tacky and a bit thicker to actually hold. The N1 is very secure in my hands now.. Previously I was paranoid to actually carry the phone in my hands.

hmm, that looks pretty nice, lol.... but, even the gelli one looks cool.....!
i would keep the nexus one in the pouch that came with it. but it's a hassle to take it in and out especially when i try to be careful it. i like holding the nexus one in it pure form, but it pure form is kinda slippery so......call me paranoid lol. but hey, i might stick with it if i don't see anything else i like.
yea, the boxwave pure crystal slip is not bad. does it has a cutout for the volume and standby buttons? i hate gel/rubber cases that cover it because it makes it harder to press it. i used to have a case for my n97 mini that covers the menu button it takes more effort to press because of the thick rubber. anyway, i have a hard time deciding to get the smoke grey or the crystal clear. which one would look better iyo? and does their boxwave screen protector fits with the case on?

No, the volume and power buttons are covered.. It does take some of the feel away, and sometimes hard to tell if you pressed or not.. It doesn't take more pressure, in fact I think it's a little easier/too easy to press now. I have a bit of a review here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691231
I don't have anything else on my Nexus, no screen protector etc..
I use the blue seidio innocase II also have a black an a grey one, an its by far the best case ive used with my nexus one. Also i use a clarivue antiglare screen protector an the seidio case works great with it. No bubbles or anything like some screen protectors get while usin a seidio innocase
thanks for the help guys. i think i might go with the boxwave case. but before i get one, i have one question.
i heard the nexus one has antenna problem. does the case intercept with the antenna signal if i put it on the nexus one? thanks.

Stylish Desire Cases

Right now I have a Otterbox Commuter Series for my Desire its a good slim case for protection but sometimes I wanna switch yo something a little more stylish. Does anyone have any suggestions? If so leave a link to where I can find the case.
HTC Desire
This is what i use in conjunction with a martin fields screen protector.
http://www.gelaskins.com/store/skins/phones/HTC_Desire/Hulk_SMASH
Works brilliantly and stops the phone from being a black brick
I use a case that simply covers the back, edges and corners. It's hard to describe and I can't post an outside link to show, but it basically hugs the edges and corners of the phone, so that it only covers the sides and back.
Mine's crystal clear (I have a decal on my battery cover that I like to be able to see), and these protect the edges and corners without being too bulky. My clear one also provides protection for the decal.
Go custom - get a Casemate slim case and add some stickers / decals to it. I got a few Android stickers from ebay and added them to a Casemate.

Totally agree. This case saved my desire 3 times already (hopefully it didnt fall on the screen side, thanks to the weight difference of the upper part of the phone ).
I've had my desire for over a year now. When I first bought it, I searched ebay for a gel case and some screen protectors. The Gel case only covers the sides and back. The protectors were stuck on and did their job until they were too scratched. Then they inhibit the touch screen function - I noticed this when the screen protectors were so badly scratched it was becomming difficult to see the screen. Since I'm too cheap to buy another £2 batch lot of protectors I've left it off for about 3 months now. There is not a single scratch on the screen.
Also the gel case has provided a very good protection for the rest of the phone. The gel case was shipped from Hong Kong and cost around £5 including shipping. A colleague even found one cheaper. I don't know how they make stuff so cheap over there but the phone is as good as the day it came out of the box.
Just ordered a custom skin from Skinit. It won't offer the amount of protection as my Otterbox but it will stop it from scratching up and add some customization to my device.

I had a flip leather case but it was a bit inconvenient having to open the cover all the time even though it protected the screen so I got different one similar to the ones people use a lot on iPhones, it covers the back and sides but leaves the screen free. I got them on eBay cos it's cheap and there are LOADS to choose from!
i got the PDair leather case, 18.99 on ebay, works great.
I use the htc mobile case:

I second this. Nokia issued pouches with E66 too. Especially since I don't consider price of this plus shipping costs dirt cheap either.
i used a black back cover meshed bought on netimes.com. On this site I bought also an android neoprene pouch
I have been use the Casemate barely there - which is a great case. But it doesnt protect the top of the phone along where the power button is.
I tend to stick my phone in my pocket and I think my keys over time have scraped the top a bit, with tiny nicks out of phone.
But it has saved my phone a couple of times when I dropped it!
I'm also using Casemate Barely There, real happy with it. A friend of mine has the Casemate Tough Case, it's a bit thicker but does offer a bit more protection.

I would recommend Melkco HTC Desire leather case from Amazon. It's stylish designed and protects well of the entire phone with genuine cowhide leather flip cover as well as the hard leather back cover without blocking the ports, camera. I bought one from them and am very satisfied with the quality and the look.

I bought a Jaka Melko too... so SOPHISTICATED (all hand made)! And very protective. I drop from waist height last week, no scratch at all, phone and leather.
Plus, I have a hard gel case, and the Melkco is exactly the same size, no bulk.
Maybe a little bit expensive (28~30 USD free shipping), but worth all pennies, and it really smells leather when opening box.

Trident Aegis

Trident has the aegis case up on their website for G2x. They only seem to have it in blue and green right now though.
Ordered a green one- will let you know, maybe get some pics up.
Also Fortte supposedly has a leather case in the works, but no details on it. I decided I wanted the ability to use the phone after I had a previous bookstyle case for a blackjack. That was a pain to make a call on.
Like the way it looks but also looks bulky?
Review and pictures would be appreciated.
http://www.tridentcase.com/product_67_92.html
It seems to be available in Black, Blue, Green, Pink and Red now. I am eager to hear how you like the case once you get it.
just from looking at the picture it looks gigantic i dun think its for everyone, more for like outdoor ppl or ppl who always break there phone. But it does look solid but could be better. They should make a slimmer version of the case.
Hey, these looks great!
I might pick up one while I wait for an otter-box, if they ever come around.

It's definitely going to add bulk to it. I have the Aegis for the myTouch 4G. It's bulky but provides very good protection for your phone.
Edit: If you guys are not in a hurry I would suggest waiting for this case to become available at CyclopsCase.com. I think they are a distributor for Trident cases. They are $10 cheaper. That's where I bought my Aegis case and it was shipped for free too.
just ordered the green. I have been a fan of the trident cases for a long time, the cases are top, top quality and offer amazing protection. I had a cyclops on my old MT4G and it was a beast, the Aegis does not look as bulky, but i am sure it will protect very well. I will post pics when it arrives.
The green and red one looks nice. I want to get one later on.
Review of Trident Aegis case for G2x (green)
$30 for case and screen protector
Bought this case to get corner and drop protection- I chose this over a Tech21 Nexus S slip case or a fortte leather case (not released yet) or PDair case because with the touchscreen, I didn't want to have to remove it, use it, put it back in. I wanted quick out of pocket check of email/calendar, back into pocket. I had a book style case (pdair) with an older blackjack II, and I hated the flap front cover when I wanted to make a call.
Shipping was fast via USPS, however I didn't get the screen protector in the box for some reason- the tape did not look neat, so I can't say if it got opened and pilfered in transit. I still have the OEM film protector that came with it, so I will just wait for a new ship of the screen protector from Trident customer service and have that as a backup.
Inner silicone is smooth- doesn't feel tacky to the touch at all so I don't think it will attract dust/lint like other more rubbery silicone. Hard polycarbonate is also smooth, though it doesn't feel like hard plastic that will chip, so that is good. I was worried about Seido as they have many forum posts about corners and tabs breaking. This doesn't feel like it will chip or break away unless I purposefully snapped it.
The final fit is good- it isn't super snug like some of the trident iPad and iPod reviews suggest. It isn't looks- it fits well, and I feel like I could get it apart without hassle to pull the battery if I wanted to.
Ports are covered with silicone tabs- volume and power work well- you have to give a little push since it is below the silicone. Tabs fit right below the hard polycarbonate to keep the in place. Micro USB cable plugs in well- the only port I may have to get an extender with is the 3.5 mm headphone jack since i have an L shaped jack instead of straight jack. It would have to fit with the L portion pushing out over the tab (think due south if looking straight at jack) and couldn't fit at any other angle out (north/west/east), but I think the extender that Trident has (which wasn't in stock when I ordered) would be the best option. Ill probably get something from Amazon or monoprice.
Camera holes and proximity sensor are holes- no plastic covering them, which is fine with me.
Fit in pocket (for a guy) is fine- it doesn't really add much unnecessary bulk. Width is about 11/16 of an inch, height is about 4 and 14/16. Phone/case is about as thick as my older BlackJack II without its case, so I am fine with it.
Overall I am happy with it. I can't say anything about the screen protector until I get a replacement, but I won't be using it until the OEM one peels off. I've never held an Otterbox so I can't compare quality, but frankly I don't think the O'box would be much different in quality. Or at least to justify waiting/pleading with them to get a case out for the G2x. I think it works for my needs- if I had decided on a leather case, I probably would have either gone with the Tech21 Nexus S (same dimensions) or waited to see what Fortte came out with, since Noreve and Sena are too expensive. I wish it was $20-$25, but I can see some of the engineering that went into it so I'm not too worried about the price.
Pros-
Nice non tacky silicone and polycarbonate shell.
Ports are covered but can be accessed.
Camo green is a nice green
Fit is secure but not too tight that I can't take it out.
Cons-
Wish they had more colors for the silicone (would have done a black poly shell with orange silicone to go with my company colors). They have this for the iPhone and a few others.
3.5 mm port likely needs an extender for L-shaped headphone jacks
Screen protector missing, but that may be a problem during shipping. Am not too worried about CS helping me out with this one.
Wish it would have cost $5 less, but it had free shipping, so evens out in the end.

Just got the blue one, this is def the best case around.....just as good as a otterbox
FYI- Trident replied to my inquiry about the screen protector, and said that the case does not come with one- it was an error during the first few days of creating the store entry. So don't expect one with the case.
Just received mine in the mail today. 3 days flat which is good going. I got the green and black and could not be happier. The rubber surround is very thick and offers a lot of protection, it will definitely protect against a serious drop.
The back of the case is a hard plastic, but it has a great rubber texture to it.
For the price you cannot go wrong. I have always used trident cases on my phones and have never been disappointed and the same goes for this case. I highly recommend it
Got mine today. I to went with the green. This is a great case I'm very pleased with it. I wish they would make one of there other series that have the screen cover but I asked on facebook an was told there is no plans on making any other series at this point

My take on Trident case
Shipping was really fast. I ordered on Monday and got it in yesterday. I got the red/black one for my G2x, and pink/black Aegis case for the Samsung Galaxy S 4g for my lady. Was really impressed with the build, the grip, and especially the tabs that cover the ports. At first I was totally happy with the size...until I put my girl's on. The design of her case was made to keep her phone both protected and without adding too much bulk to it. I admit I was jealous at first, but that all changed once my phone and case was tested. My phone got thrown about 3 feet from my really high bed, onto my really hard tiled floor. Was worried, but the case did its job. Had it not been for the design of the case, my phone would of been totaled. It really helped protecting the G2x. Overall satisfaction is at it's highest. Definitely recommend this case to anyone wanting to protect their phone without worrying too much about size. Hope this post helps

After heavy research I decided to try this brand out. I've never owned a Trident case before but as far as protection goes, this looks like the best case out for the g2x.

Slim case

I love the design of this phone so I want the slimmest possible case I can find. Can anyone recommend a very slim case?
same as you, didn't really want to cover it up too much since the design is so nice. I went with this and I think it will be a good match. I have the white phone so I ordered the white case:

lots of folks recommended this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007X4XS3C/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
I ordered it and it will be here Tuesday
You could get the official ones by HTC. They take minimalism to a whole new level bit the downside is its so expensive for a flimy piece of plastic. Or the feather cases by Incipio.

i ordered the black & gray ROCK cases and the case mate barely there case. the ROCK cases look nice but are definitely made for the International X. although they fit the One XL, the camera opening is about1-2 mm lower at the top. not a big issue for me at all. however, the case-mate fits perfectly and looks best! i like how the sides are angled for a perfect fit, e.g., fits the One XL's angled sides like a glove. the obvious downside is the limited protection, e.g., exposed top and bottom.
i sold both ROCK cases to a friend who has the International X and kept the case-mate. i added a couple of pics that (hopefully) show how slim and form-fitting the case-mate case is...
im going with the amzer tpu luxe arigle case had it with captivate and like it and did its job and looks good

Funny part is that I was planning on spray painting it black cos that case only comes in orange/blue. And while i was taking the case off it snapped on me. Good thing is AT&T warranties out accessories for a whole year. I have a feeling im going to be using that warranty a lot.
You get what you ask for looking for a slim case. They don't offer any protection at all. Which for me is fine. I just don't like how hot the phone gets without a case. I ended up getting the full body zagg.

i broke my orange version of this case too. if you like to swap out cases every other day (like me) this case may not be for you because you will eventually break it, no doubt about it. i've been luckier with my blue case as it hasn't snapped on me yet.
Just ordered an Amzer Shellster case found here:
http://www.amazon.com/Amzer-AMZ9380...PA1Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338902558&sr=8-1
It's not the most "minimalist" case out there but it seems sturdy enough for repeated application and removal (which is important to me since I use multiple cases). It also comes with a holster, which most slim cases do not. It also looks like it offers great protection for the camera.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMdD2Q35_XA
I'll put up some pics and do a "mini-review" if anyone is interested.
So the case-mate barely there doesn't specify on amazon whether its for the international or att version. However I have heard that it fits ours just fine. Can anyone verify?
And also does it come with a screen protector?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Received my Amzer Shellster yesterday. I can confirm that it fits the AT&T version of the HOX.
Pros
Accurate Fit
Cutouts line up perfectly
Protects camera
Front lip keeps screen from touching when face down
Comes with a holster
Cons
Minamilistic case means it provides less protection than traditional cases
Does not cover top and bottom
Soft touch finish can be a little slippery
While the holster uses "pressure" to hold the phone it does not have an actual mechanism to secure it
Overall, the case is really nice for what it's meant to do. It is advertised as a slim case and it provides all the protection that it entails.
I have included some pics in the attachments showing the cutouts and fit, as well as the holster and front lip.
I got the case mate barely there. Overall I really like it, I wish it was a little thicker because the camera still sticks out a little.

Purchased this as well. Very small and seems to do the trick. I wish it had a stand though.
I recommend the cruzerlite. Only $10

I found something that will look sleek for my new phone. I was looking into cases, and this Ultra Thin just caught my attention. Placed in my order from Cretouch store. The price is decent and they offer free shipping too!

Are you talking about this?

"Will the Ultra Thin Air fit the AT&T version of the HTC One X?
We don't recommend the Ultra Thin Air with the AT&T version as this case was originally designed for the international version. The AT&T version of the phone is slightly longer. While the case my be compatible, it may not be a perfect fit."

Thanks for the pics and review. How long did shipping take? Your review should have its own thread, those photos and review is great.
Plus was it really only $14.99?

Otterbox Commuter v. Incipio DualPro v. Seidio Active

Hello all,
I've always only had the Otterbox Commuter as my one and only case for phones, and with them being so slow to get out the color I want for the S4, I was wondering if I should keep waiting for a bit longer or go with another choice like the Incipio DualPro or Seidio Active. I don't have any experience with either of them, so I'm wondering if anyone who has used them can shed some light (both good and bad) on them.
Thanks.

Incipio Dual Pro is horrible. Fitment is off and constantly slips on an end, exposing the screen with no lip coverage. Luckily it was free from the ATT store for me, but i wish i chose a different case from them. I ended up ordering a minimalist JL case from amazon anyway.
I have an Incipio case and I think it's great. Probably the best case I've had for a phone. Only like $25 too.

Consider having a look see at the Casemate Toughcase if you like the otterbox, its actually less bulky while providing better protection for the phone. I'm very surprised this case doesn't see more play here becuase its a truly good case and I get people asking my out of the blue what it is and where I purchased it. I've got probably a dozen friends on it now and I did nothing to convince them, they mauled and pawed at the case for a few and were sold. If you are of a mind you can quickly pull up a few reviews on youtube of the case.
I've been using the Seidio Active case for a few days now. I used a 10% off coupon I found searching Google and it came out to $31 shipped. I bought the one with the grooves for your fingers. Also has a kickstand. I pull out the kickstand when holding the phone and put my ring finger under the kickstand so I have a good hold of the phone and my thumb can reach more of the screen. Kickstand also comes in handy with the smart stay option so the screen won't turn off when I'm reading. It is easy to take on and off so I can get to the battery easily. All the proper cut outs are there and are lined up perfectly. Complaints - When typing or pushing the menu / back key my fat fingers will hit the edge of the case. I just have to work on using the tip of my thumb. Depending on the angle of the phone you may not be able to see the notification light. There are covers for the volume and power button which took some getting used to but I can now hit them without looking.

How well does that case work with a glass screen protector?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I have the Incipio Dual Pro Carbon now as my temporary case. The rubber is constantly coming off from around the lip. You see the silver when this happens. Not a huge deal but in a drop it won't be that good. Also the silicone grabs a little bit of lint.
Seidio active... I have it on my Nexus 7 and had it on my Note 1.... Huge lint magnet, OLD OLD design, silicone can be warped and won't lay flat in some areas.
Otterbox Commuter.... I will order one of the colored models when available. Buttons were terrible on the S3 but it seems to have an improved design....Putting the case on seems to be better than the S3... Overalll good design.
I also ordered the Cygnett Workmate... It seems to cover the issues from the other case and offers better grip... I will know in a couple of weeks.

The edges of the case do come over the top of the device to the screen side but this is only the softer inner portion of the case and I'm thinking it would work fine but I do not use screen protectors so I'm not certain. You can see it pretty clearly in some of the youtube videos of the case so you should be able to make a call from that. A link is here ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l3X7Oxgx5I and the same fellow reviews several others which might catch your interest as well.
I've included a couple pictures that show something you cant see there. The one is of my year old S3 case next to my brand new S4 case. Notice how the thing still looks new? The other seems like kind of an oddball picture but what you are looking at is the largest portion of the soft inner case and the thing to notice there is the lack of lint. While these do catch a tiny bit of lint it is very little as you can see there. I did not clean the case up, it went from my pocket to the drawer after my S4 got here.
On my S3 I have had my phone in that case directly alongside a friend who had his in a commuter case and we both agreed that this case felt better in the hand and it had a more premium feel. It also has better grip but does not hang in the pocket. He in fact is one of the people I know who ditched his case and got the Casemate instead. Now I've obviously not seen the Otterbox for the S4 yet but it appears much like the Casemate counterpart to be pretty much a rehash and I would expect that they will compare similarly again.

I bought mine (Dual Pro) at a TMob store. I totally disgaree regarding overlapping screen. It TOTALLY protects the screen via it's superb fit overlapping. Plus it has a nice "feel just holding it'. Used to have a Body Glovefor my S3. The bodyglove was on the thick side and it just didn't have the same tactile feeling when holding the phone. Mine is black with Grey...IOW two tone. Only saw it in a TMob store. Solid colors online from this link.

Man, that is some kind of funky back they have there. How does it feel? What is it?
And you said that Casemate offers better protection than the Commuter, any links to vids/proof to this? Cause if that's true, then that's a great deal. It looks like it is as bulky as the DualPro. Lastly, how are the colors with the Casemate? Got sick of all black, and that's why I've been looking elsewhere while waiting for the Commuter colors. Thanks.
Incipio DualPro
I purchased my Incipio DualPro from an AT&T store ($35 + tax) just to have something to protect the phone while I figure out what I really want as far as a case. I went in to get the cheapest thing they had but really liked the look of the fake carbon fiber which looks even better in person. But, the silicone layer is so loose and floppy that even with the stiff Plextonium frame:laugh:, it won't hold its shape leaving the bezel exposed where the fancy named frame isn't. This case had the makings of a winner.
Love this look:
Hate this:
Returned to AT&T store today!
The outer shell is plastic. It has the appearence of the knurling you see on a ratchet handle for example. In person it looks good and has a better feel than that of the Otterbox counterpart. The bulk of the case is about the same as the commuter, it is designed for protection and those who would avoid the Otterbox commuter for that reason would want to avoid it as well. That said it is slighly less bulky than its commuter counterpart because it is thinner.
As to protection there are no sure proofs, no 1000 phones dropped and here is the absolute numbers, test. You have to look at the case and make a judgement. The casemate clearly covers the corners better and has a better fit which combined with what are visibly better materials means you can pretty much figure your phone has a better chance than it does in the commuter. There is no sure thing. I had my S2 and then S3 both in the same case for those phones and while I haven't dropped the S4 yet I did have occasion to drop both of those several times and neither suffered a scratch although again no case will protect against bad luck.
In regards to the colors, I've no idea. I always go black so have never looked. Best bet might be to check the case out in a store. Its popular enough that I noticed our AT&T shop here had some on the shelf for S3s. Or if you have a case kiosk at the mall they will likely have one and you can check out the material yourself. Casemate has many other cases but I have no experience with them. I was Otterbox all the way till I ran into the toughcase which just plain out commuters the commuter at its own game. IMO
Looking at the dimensions of all the products, it looks like Casemate is the bulkiest, with Otterbox second, and Incipio DualPro the least bulkiest.
The one thing I'm not a fan of the Casemate from the pictures is that there seems to be more open exposed areas, especially at the top.
I ordered the Dual Pro case and have been waiting for it to come in.... I bought the Body Glove Dimensions case from the T-Mobile store just to have something on it until the Dual Pro case came in...The Dual Pro case looked really nice in the store but I want the white and gray one that they didn't have.. Now I'm hearing all the crappy reviews about the Dual Pro case and I'm having buyers remorse...Maybe I will get one from a good batch that will fit like a glove...UNLIKELY!!!! Anyway the Body Glove Dimensions case feels really good in my hand and looks nice however it doesn't protect anything just nice and slim.

Im not sure where you are getting your dimensions from but I can tell you from actually having both in my hand with the S3 the toughcase is slimmer. Since it appears that the Commuter is a reboot with a few minor changes just as the toughcase is for S4 I'm pretty sure you are going to see the same thing again. Also the only openings on the tough case are where the IR and headphone jacks are and the same applies on the bottom where there is no opening other than the two ports there. The Otterbox possesses exactly the same openings in their case and then unlike the otterbox the casemate piece does not have the wide open corners which are the single most likely spot for the phone to hit in a drop.
lol Sometimes you just cant let a favorite go, I do it myself. Either way you're getting a good case that stands a real chance of saving your overpriced ludicrously profitable for Samsung device so its all good. :good:

You do have to remember that those that have problems are usually the ones that take to online to complain, so just take all the amount of bad stuff with a grain of salt.

:silly: I think on the corners, they both go about it differently, Otterbox has the silicone there, and casemate has both, with the plastic outside. Bet they both have their own science reasons for doing it that way lol.
I'll wait it out a little while longer before deciding. I think my biggest concern about the casemate is that I won't like how the textured back feels.

I just saw that UAG (urban armor gear) is going to start shipping their cases soon.... might have to look into them now :/
Never had a one piece polycarbonate silicone case before.
