I know the dark theme in lollipop is deactivated.
But will themed gaaps work on lollipop? The only reason I have yet to take the plunge with the 2.0 OTA is the white out look and feel of lollipop, and xposed isn't coming anytime soon for L. I really like the dark of the previous versions of android. I have successfully pulled over my themed apps for gmail, playstore, Youtube, play music, play games, hangouts, and Google now from my Darthstalker flashed Note 3 by Way of titanium back up.
But will these same backups from titanium backup work on L? My initial thought is no but I'm curious as to whether anyone else has tried it? I mean I can install the new material designed calendar and maps on my kitkat note 3 so why wouldn't they?

I wanna be able to post so i am posting here.....
yesturday i switched from carbon nightly android 4.3 which is a very good rom with more options then you can shake a stick at. But i wanted to take a bite of that kitkat bar.
I flashed gummy roms with their provided gapps... and wow...everything is so stable and works! I was tempted to get the nexus 5, but why now? GS4 is a better phone is some ways. The worst thing is that i am stuck on sprint, but they are getting better.
i soon noticed that the gummy gapps was incomplete. It was missing the GEL google now launcher. I decided to try PA GAPPS with it and dirty...... bad choice... afew flashes later and a data wipe... JFLTESPR+ Gummy ROM 4.4 Beta + PA GAPPS = Nexus 5
so far it is flawless.... one bug i see is in the mail widget... you are unable to select the inbox.... this is frustrating ...but i can live with unread only for now.
PA gapps also included hangouts, calender, play games icon, chrome, google pictures, play music, play video, and other goodies......
Yes. Excellent Rom. But camera is giving wake locks and some hardware features aren't yet available. But it's great as a daily driver.

I just updated my n7 to 4.4 (OTA), and the one thing I was looking forward to seeing was not there, the launcher with the transparent bars.
So I thought I'd build it from source from AOSP. After some fiddling with dependencies and protoc, it worked out just fine.
Everything seems to be working just right. I am not taking any credit for this, just want all nexus owners that deserve the choice not to use the stock launcher, to have that choice.
Get it from Google play or download the apk from my dropbox.
Note that the play store thinks it is not compatible with the nexus 7. I am working on that, it works fine on my n7 2012.
I have done the obvious like <uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.telephony" android:required="false"/> but that's the only thing I am running into right now
Hey guys, so I have Kitkat 4.4.4 installed on my Nexus 5 (for a lot of reasons, battery is much better, faster, and I love the Kitkat material design better than Lollipop).. But today, Play Store showed me an update for Google's application, so I updated it, and ever since I did that, I have Lollipop's launcher even though I'm using Kitkat o__o, so weird, do you have any information about this guys? (see screenshots).
Thanks

Is it Google Now Launcher? If so the app isn't linked to your Android version.

That's not a Lollipop feature. The Google Now Launcher was available for KitKat devices as well. It might have debuted with the Nexus 5.

It's because Google Now Launcher and Google Now are linked somehow. At first I was also stay on Kitkat and my appdrawer background was transparent. When I install Google Now from 5.0 system dump appdrawer became white.
Regards, Zagor
P.S. There is no Kitkat material design.
Okay guys thanks
I'm a noob when it comes to these stuff so pardon me xD
Is there no way I can get my usual transparent app drawer? I hate the white one.

You can flash 4.4.4 and do not install updates for google apps (launcher, velvet and prebuiltgsmcore for sure) - others maybe (also hangouts no, because it will ask for prebuiltgsmcore to update and than Google+ will fc.. Eh - better no to update any of google apps in that case.

In CM12 there's no tw tweaks, we want aosp dialer on TW.
I found very good alternative of AOSP dialer.
This is much better than stock TW phone app.
Check out "Simpler Dialer - Android L UI"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simpler.dialer
There a lot of Contacts App alternatives but incoming / outgoing call screen doesn't change. TW call screen stays.

Hello,
Before updating the Z3 to Lollipop, custom themes such as Little Big Planet or others, downloaded from the Play Store, also changed the softkey appearance. This was a really good feature that i though was quite neat. Gave the phone a fresher look.
However now they will remain stock no matter what theme i set. Was this functionality removed in the Lollipop update? Tried to wipe my phone, uninstalled themes and redownloaded them but no success.
Anyone know anything about it?

This is a limitation from Sony now and they might include it in next update. But you can try Xpose Framwork which is beta in Lollipop. You will need root for that.
Quote me in case you expect a reply!
Good Luck
