Hello,
Before updating the Z3 to Lollipop, custom themes such as Little Big Planet or others, downloaded from the Play Store, also changed the softkey appearance. This was a really good feature that i though was quite neat. Gave the phone a fresher look.
However now they will remain stock no matter what theme i set. Was this functionality removed in the Lollipop update? Tried to wipe my phone, uninstalled themes and redownloaded them but no success.
Anyone know anything about it?

This is a limitation from Sony now and they might include it in next update. But you can try Xpose Framwork which is beta in Lollipop. You will need root for that.

NEW Version 2!!!
{Please Vote to Front Page if you like this so others can enjoy, Somtimes my themes are a little tough to find}
Updated:
1. Added AOSP icons... camera, browser, ect.
2. Added my custom version of 4G Toggle for people that don't use Sense.(I made it to look like the Sense UI version of 4G toggle widget.)
3. Added more AOSP notification icons (should be complete now.)
4. New Updated Lockscreen!
5. New Updated Rosie Bar.(made apps, and add button invisible via request)
6. Changed analog clock widget to look like newest Froyo version.
7. Added Stock Nexus One boot animation!
[/B]This is a new theme I made for people that love Sense UI but think the Vanilla Android looks better. The screen shots are all of Sense UI. This is Made to work with Fresh Rom but will likely work with a few others. Please be sure and Nandroid before flashing this. If you don't like the HTC Lock Screen you can allways uninstall it with Titanium Backup and reboot your phone, and then you will have your Vanilla Android Lockscreen (You can also uninstall HTC Sense this way, be carefull what ever you do!). I hope you all enjoy this as much as I do, I worked really hard on this.

Excellent !
Sweet, I like AOSP UI better. Good work OP!
Looks good, thanks for the contribution.
hey i was wondering if there is a way to do this without the lockscreen mod that you specifically have. meaning is there a way to have the blackbar mod?
hahahaha i didnt even realize you were the author of the WhiteSenseUi-aosp theme, i asked the same question on that thread and i did get some pretty useful suggestions, but was unsuccessful of executing them. is there any possible way that you can possible fix the lock-screen for me? i would be ever so grateful.
WoW This Is Awesome!! I Can Use Sense Widgets And Still Have A Stock Android Look And Feel To My Phone!! Thanks For Sharing.. AnyWay That You Can AlSo Post The Beach WallPaper That You're Using Please?! Thanks Again..
This Is Nice!! EveryOne That Has Seen My Phone With This Loves It!! Keep Up The Good Work..
Do I have to be rooted to install this?? I only really want the bottom where the phone icon is, but I can't figure out how to do that can somebody help?
I found this theme searching and I love it! I really enjoy keeping sense stuff like the 7 windows, and the widgets but I actually like the look of vanilla android
One thing I did notice is when you are removing an icon from the desktop the 'remove' icon at the bottom is overlaid the phone icon.
Not too sure if that is fixable, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
Other than that good work on this theme! I'm enjoying it on my rooted/stock ROM
Great work, this is making me consider going back to sense. Any future plans to include ASOP Icons, phone dialer skin, etc.?

Yes you have to be rooted and nand unlocked. Pretty much any modifications you see on this forum must have that functionality
Tried the red theme with calk 1.1 and it works (i like it a lot)- except the new gmail (2.2.1 i think) FC's over and over.. I'm going to load my nandroid backup which has calk 1.1 and the older version of gmail, then will reinstall this theme to see if it is an incompatability with calk 1.1 or if it truly is the new gmail

I had the FC with gmail on my stock deox rooted ROM, I went to the application settings, cleared the cache and data. After that no more FCs (even after reboot!)

Awesome!! I'm glad I could help and that it worked
This is the first theme I ever installed. It worked great on the newest Fresh and it looks pretty sweet! I also had the Gmail force close thing going on but wiping the cache and data for it in the application manager cleared that up!
does this theme the app drawer for the 3d effect
Thanks for doing this! I was looking around for something like this because I was having a difficult time getting it to work on my own.
Any confirmation that this runs on Fresh 3.1.0.2?

Hey all,
My weather widget is disappearing from my homescreen everytime I install a new app. I have the widget in the top 2 rows. When a new app is installing, the widget disappears, and the new app's icon is placed in the first row. This is getting very frustrating, as I have to manually add the widget back to the home screen each time.
I recently bricked my phone and followed the downgrade/unbrick tutorial to fix it. I'm currently running the latest T-Mobile US RUU + OTA update.
Anyone have this issue? Or know what is causing it? I'm thinking this may be related to cache or permissions. Can we fix this without root and/or new recovery?
Mate, we need to know which phone (S3 <-> S4) you have.
--- edit
Forget that. Go to settings -> apps, choose all apps, search for HTC sense and delete data. Reboot and try if things work.
Do you use a custom skin?

I have the s4.
No I don't have a custom skin.
I tried clearing the app data and defaults and it worked wonderfully! Thank you so much!
You're always welcome. Glad this one helped because I was on the wrong track with my questions.
Point is, that I realised a bit too late that according to your OP you should be using a S4 and with the latest RUU and it's update you should be running ICS as to my knowledge there still isn't any JB update by TMO US available atm.
I was asking that because on 'early' JB we had the problem that with custom JB roms some custom skins (mostly ported) forced reboot when starting the world clock. This was fixed by trollalot and all the skins were replaced. But one never knows if some of the 'bad' ones survived somewhere somehow. lol
That was my very first thought so.
Hello everybody!
I'm interested in buying the Mate 8 but still have a few question I weren't able to find answers to.
I currently own a Nexus 5 and like the clean look of stock Android.
First questions are in regards to themes.
1. Do they still apply when you change the launcher or this somehow linked to the EMUI stock launcher?
2. Can you change the dropdown menu (notifications and quick settings) with these themes, too, in order to make it more like stock Android? Screenshots of the dropdown menu are rarely given.
3. How easy is it to create themes by oneself?
All in all I'd like to have a clean stock look as especially these bubbles around the icons are a pain to my eyes.
I would prefer to NOT have to flash a custom ROM.
The second part of my questions is in regard to Google Now.
1. Do you have the Google Now cards available?
2. Is Google Now on Tap working?
I hope you guys can enlighten me
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:

1. Do they still apply when you change the launcher or this somehow linked to the EMUI stock launcher?
EMUI themes still apply when you change launchers. You can set your custom icons on the launcher desktop, but the themed icon will still appear in other places like the recent apps screen or in notifications. So you will still see ugly rounded square or circle boarder with your icons outside of your launcher desktop. Fortunately this can be solved by installing custom EMUI theme with stock icons, which you can find here: http://foerster.io/hack-huawei-enable-pure-icons-with-no-borders-backgrounds-etc/
2. Can you change the dropdown menu (notifications and quick settings) with these themes, too, in order to make it more like stock Android? Screenshots of the dropdown menu are rarely given.
Themes can change the dropdown menu to a certain extent, mostly changing the shortcut icons. I've yet to see any theme that can make the dropdown menu look completely stock, I don't think it's possible because they operate differently. To me the EMUI dropdown UI looked decent enough (albeit in a different style) so I don't mind it so much.
3. How easy is it to create themes by oneself?
Don't know, never tried it myself.
1. Do you have the Google Now cards available?
I have the international version of the phone (L29), most google services are pre-installed including google now cards. If you get the Chinese version you'll have to install google services yourself, which I heard is a fairly easy process.
2. Is Google Now on Tap working?
You can turn on the now on tap function in google cards settings, but it doesn't seem to work when I long press the home button.
Please note that I'm still on an early EMUI build (B103) and have not yet received any OTA, I don't know if later updates changes anything.
Overall I did get a fairly decent looking UI running on my mate 8. Some UI elements will remain in EMUI style (most notably recent apps and notification dropdown and settings screen) as you can't change those without a custom ROM or at least some root hack, but I don't mind those too much, in fact I liked some of the EMUI design. The worse part of EMUI 4.0 is the launcher and the forced icon background on 3rd party apps, but like I said earlier these can all be averted with 3rd party launcher and custom theme. If you're a diehard fans for the "stock-look" who won't accept any non-material design element then this may not be good enough for you, but it is good enough for me.
@beachletter
Thank you a million times, Sir!
So did I get this right and you also tried to achieve a more or less stock look?
If so, could you please provide screenshots of your dropdown menu and maybe of your homescreen?
Did you own a Nexus phone before the Mate 8, too?
Regarding the dropdown menu of notifications: if I understand it correctly it's more or less working like a timeline, not like on other phones. This can't be changed, can it? I guess I know the answer as themes are supposed to only change the look and not the way things work, but yeah...
This is what my ui looks like after getting custom launcher and material design icon theme.

I like stock icons and stock recent apps screen, but for notification and quick settings drop down I actually liked EMUI's implementation. I used CM and other near-stock rom in my previous phones.
See the post above for screenshots.
Alright, thanks again!
Now I have most of the information I can possibly get to make the right decision. Hopefully I will
Okay, so I've bought a Mate 8 to test things.
While it is really well designed, is nice to hold and snappy as well, I still can't get myself to like the software that much.
I have tried to apply the theme @beachletter provided but it somehow doesn't apply correctly and therefore many icons still have that bubble around it (e.g. Chrome, Play Store). Dialer and Contacts are still the same icons.
Regarding Google Now on Tap: this functionality was added with B152 firmware update which immediately showed up while setting up the device.
Additionally I have to say that the horizontal scrolling in the recent apps menu is even more unintuitive than I've thought it would be.

That's strange, on my phone the dialer and contacts have separate icons (although I usually don't use contacts because I can quick dial any name in dialer to search my contact list) , and I don't see any icon background/border for chrome or play store.
Maybe you should check out the newest version of the theme here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/hack-enable-pure-icons-borders-t3315731
and FYI the launcher I use is NOVA Prime
Good to know google now is back in B152. Unfortunately my phone doesn't get any OTA update above B103 yet. But at least there's no camera focusing issue on my phone, even with B103.

It's not that bad anymore. I installed Nova Prime as well and added icon packs to fit my preferences.
But with the new theme it's working, even in the status bar! Thanks for providing the link!

Actually I just switched to this theme which seems to have a more comprehensive set of material design icons:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/themes-apps/theme-material-emui-predaturd-p-kulkes-t3265917
You may want to give it a try.
So basically you know the wallpapers that are usually stock with the device when you select the "Magazine Unlock"? It changes the wallpaper everytime you open the device. I really like that feature don't get me wrong so I naturally tried my best to get the latest and best wallpapers from Huawei themselves.
However today, it seems that they've all disappeared and I have to possible ways this has happened. Either the stock wallpapers which were updated have been deleted within 3 months of getting them (I doubt this because they were relatively new) or I've manually deleted them from the gallery which I never did.
So UHHHHH if anyone has the stock wallpapers that usually update to the phone I'd really like to download that because it seems I have nothing to update.
If i understood well, you're looking for stock MagazineUnlock wallpapers, right? Find 'em all here https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/themes/magazine-unlock-wallpapers-t3546947
Hi peeps. I'm currently running my U11 on Rooted 7.1 Nougat Stock ROM, which I love to pieces, it's very smooth, fast & stable.
I would like to know what peoples experiences are with Oreo, since it's a big job to upgrade once you've rooted. Are there any real advantages to updating? Is it worth the hassle?
Give me the skinny
cheers :good:

I was glad to get it mainly for two reasons - A it allows our company client certificates to be imported that were too advanced or something for Nougat (so now I can browse our internal systems from phone) and B there is LDAC support (useful if you have high-end Sony BT headphones) and other Bluetooth hi-res audio codecs on top of regular aptX. I also find the UI neater, and like new option for do not disturb mode (notifications off until next planned silent time ends) but that alone wouldn't make me flash. Let's see what others have to say
Oreo was the start of all my problems... It's a tough situation though because Oreo brings with it the latest Android security patches...
But have had endless network, SMS and Wifi issues ever since.
Good luck!
Icons are UGGLLLYYY! as hell! And yes i know themes ... but cant fix all problems - you need to change launcher =(

I suspect upgrade process is at fault, which wouldn't occur when re-flashing the rooted phone and restoring or re-installing your apps there. Just my guess though. Personally I didn't experience any such problems after OTA to Oreo.

Well, setting HTC Classical icons in Personalize - Edit current theme - Icons fixes most except for Google ones. I didn't really like how Oreo (or HTC?) rounded all the icons, with Google ones it works IMO.
