Hello, so I bought a used Tab 2 without the original charger and now after a month it's hard to charge.
I've followed some steps online, but I have to do it every single time and I'm tired of doing it.
So my question is this.
For those that have had this problem, did you change your battery?
Did it solve the problem?
I'm looking at batteries on eBay and are cheaper than getting a new tablet. But not sure if it would solve my problem since I still don't have an original charger.
It gives me that battery icon with an X when I tried to charge.
I did get a so called original charger from eBay with no luck.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I'd definitely suggest getting an original charger. Which version do you have? I have the WiFi only one 3113
On so called original chargers or even parts for the most part stay away from eBay, it's not worth the hassle

Hi All XDA Members I have a problem with my new phone (HTC Desire S) and was wondering if anyone could help me with what might be causing a certain charging problem, soo the problem...
The phone seems to think its being charged sometimes even when disconnected and is failing to charge the phones batteries through the standard wall charger or USB connection, therefore I am having to charge the batteries via taking the battery out of the phone and charging it in a separate dock I have purchased.
Sometimes as well after charging the batteries in the dock then placing them into the phone and turning it on the phones LED orange indicator glows and still thinks its being charged even when it has had a battery unpresent in it for several hours?
Does anyone have any possible outcomes to what this may be because of? Any help would be much appreciated?
The phone is running MIUI Android custom ROM with s-off.
Thanks,
Daniel
NOTE: I know I said "my new phone" but it is second hand and I purchased it with this problem hoping to come up with a fix.
have you tried other roms and experienced the same problem? or have u only ever had miui on it?
Hi, cheers for the quick response, and no I have tried multiple roms so far and all same problem.
Could it be anything to do with me getting cheap replaceable batteries for the phone as they are also not at the standard 1400mah but at 1450mah or should this not make a difference?
Cheers

this could certainly be the issue! so your saying it doesn't have a original htc battery? if i was you, the 1st thing id do is try a genuine 1. try to borrow 1 if u can from a friend or drop into a phone shop and ask. If it doesnt solve the issue atleast u havn't blown 30 quid on an original battery
you should try a genuine battery for sure! also their capacity is 1450mAh not 1400
check amazon uk

Just discovered guys that the batteries are actually 1500mah? Is this the problem and is their anyway to configure the phone to run with these batteries properly?
I am beginning to think whether it could be because of previous water damage if it has suffered from it before, but I would not know or be able to find out myself if it has been water damaged.
I was also thinking it could be this as maybe a possible short it happening on the main board and is causing the phone to think its constantly charging? Maybe?
Cheers Guys!

What makes you say that the battery is 1500 ? It's 1450.
HTC's own website says
Code:
[B]Power & Battery[/B]
Battery type:Rechargeable Lithium-ion battery
Capacity:1450 mAh
Hey guys (apologies I see this is a month old)
The issue Lowery91 has seems to be exactly the same as I had with my desire s. I'm breaking my heart trying to find out what's going on.
I have one of the original batteries that came with the desire S. The phone has these issues without being rooted (which I intend to do to see if I can amend it).
However for me it first started acting strange when I plugged it into a car charger.
Again sorry for rehashing this post but if anyone could shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it.

I'd suggest that you contact HTC support and get them to send you a replacement battery, explaining that yours is faulty, don't send your existing one back.
Swyped from my Desire S using XDA Premium
i think it is not a battery problem, i have two htc desire S and one today had the same problem, i tried to change batteries but when i put battery from other desire S i had the same problem, booth batteries working perfectly on second phone.
So i think it is phone problem. Something like voltage loss or etc. Because i thinkphone gets not enouth power to charge battery. But this is only my opinion.

Check this: It was a small pin inside that had come out. It connects the USB to the motherboard and is visible just below the battery. I fixed it in 10 mins with a bit of R&D. Now that you know, it will take you less than 10 seconds.
Having opened up the phone quite a few times now, hopefully i can give a couple of pointers towards this...
There is a small connector with flex cable that connects the USB port to the main board of the phone. To get to this easily, remove the batter, SIM and memory card. Also remove the 4 torx screws at the bottom of the phone and gently slide out the plastic clip that holds the battery in place. You will see this connector at the right side of the phone if its facing down. Just push it up with a small screwdriver and push it in on the connector again. Reassemble.
Hopefully this is the cause of the problem in the first case! Please do this with care..

hi, i have an inspire 4G bought off ebay. the phone was used for a month and was kept inside the box for about 6 months. now, i started using it again and after 3 weeks, the phone is now switching off immediately after removing it from the charger.
i took it to HTC store, and they say it is a mother board issue. which i doubt as the phone is workin well when connected to the charger. a battery change also did not help.
any suggestions? please help
Sounds like a bad battery. Battery may be reporting charged but may not be putting out the required voltage.

well, the HTC guy reportedly used a different battery. i live in India. anything can happen here. ANYTHING. he said it is a motherboard issue and it would cost $200 to fix it since the phone is not having any warranty.
but my question is, could it actually be a motherboard issue? i don't have issues using the phone hooked on to the charger.
You can pick up a new 3rd party battery very cheap from the net. I would try that first. Yes it could be the motherboard as anything is possible in India.

Bought a new Nexus S from ebay, it came today, I tried turning it on straight out of the box but no luck. So I figure it came with a dead battery that needs some charging, I let it charge for an hour and try again, no luck.
How long does it normally take for a new phone thats never been charged to power up?
I'm beginning to worry because when I touch the charger and the phone, neither are hot or even warm.
Mine powers on immediately after a dead battery once it's hooked up to the charger. Was there a battery icon when you plugged it in? Is it possible to find another charger to rule out a bad charger?

Do you honestly think thats not on my mind?
I'm just seeing if there are things I can do to fix it before going through the hassle of returning a phone.
Nexus S has no LED. Its just a battery icon that'll pop up on the screen. You can score a battery pretty cheap online. Try that and if that fails, get a refund.

Thanks I'll try that, but do any stores sell smart phone batteries like maybe Sprint, Besbuy, etc? That way I can pick one up today, and not wait days just for a battery to ship.
Have no clue. Best buy might possibly sell them. Not too sure though. I haven't purchased a smartphone accessory from a retail store in a long time.

Guess what? It turned on!
All Saturday I was asking different retail stores if they sold that type of battery but nope or it was like $50+ WTF? So I was leaning on getting one from ebay, but I decided to research and found some crazy idea on youtube.
Hot wired my battery! It actually worked wow.
I don't know if this is a permanent solution so I'll just order a backup battery just for insurance.
Thanks Chronos for all your responses.
Hi guys, having some issues with my phone, it randomly turns off at times, sometimes it goes into a boot loop, when connecting it to the mains, it restarts fine. If anyone else had this issue, and has a solution, please suggest?
I took out the battery and it seems like it has swollen, by this i mean it feels a bit bloated in the middle and also a bit loose in the slot. Even though its not one of the bad battery batches Samsung has reported, its still giving me these problems.
I would appreciate, if someone who has already purchased a genuine s4 19505 battery with NFC could link me up to one on ebay or amazon, i am looking for a replacement and want to make sure its not a fake one. Thanks
Only way to ensure it is not fake is to buy directly from Samsung. If you register your phone first, they will send a 50% off coupon.

Your device should've been under warranty why did you have to replace it

I’m assuming you performed all the correct diagnostic procedures before swapping the battery? (Factory reset, rebooting etc.)
Doesn’t make sense to me that you just decided to change it when it would’ve been clearly covered under warranty, could’ve borrowed a device from someone or used an old device until you got it repaired by Huawei
The only thing I can think of is do another hard reset/factory reset, if it still does the same thing, then I would just look and see if you made a mistake somewhere while replacing the battery other than that can’t really give you any other solution, kinda screwed yourself up at that point, not to sound mean but I’m just being honest, a simple warranty repair would’ve saved you the headache
Where exactly did you buy the battery? I had a hard time finding an oem battery for the mate 9.
Im about to replace my screen, so I bought new screen, and battery cover. Was looking for battery. Everything I found was fakes or third party stuff.
Sounds like it's a dodgy battery or power connector? Retrace your steps through the procedure to make sure you have followed everything. You may have missed a connector off or something. Let us know how you get on and what the solution was.

This is easily one of your best bets for a replacement battery:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-B...var=562920489057&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
Maybe the battery is faulty! I replaced mine with 3 battries 2 were fakes and one is close to the original, but didn't have any issues.
