I'm looking to start gaming seriously on my OnePlus One but I want amazing performance.
I need recommendations for what to do to my OnePlus to play some it the highest end games android has.
I'd also like to be able to calibrate the colors to near amoled as that's what I'm used to.
This phone will handle all of them every well except for tegra games like the k1 stuff
Stock or custom both will work. If you flash custom kernel you are able to change CPU governor when needed so performance when gaming then something like interactive when not for example.

He can do it even with the stock kernel with the Per App Modes app

I am coming from a Verizon Note 3. Very familiar with custom ROMS, but since our bootloader was locked we never got kernels.
What do I get in a kernal that I won't get in a rom? I know everyone has their opinion, but I would like a Lollypop based rom and kernal that is solid. I used to use Beanstown and LiquedSmooth on the note, but not sure what kernals to use or just stick with CM12, and again what kernal????
Thx!!!
Features of a kernel can be many things. Things like the ability to overclock, voltage control, sound control, extra governors and I/O schedulers that aren't included in stock kernels. There's plenty of information around if you do a Google search on the advantages of custom kernels.
In terms of asking for a recommendation, it's pointless, and if you don't know how to tune a custom kernel yet there's not really any point in flashing one until you've done some research on them first. So just find a ROM you think you might like and flash it, do a bit of research, and then decide if you really need to use a custom kernel.

The kernel can enable things like dt2w, s2w, lower minimum brightness (esp useful on Samsung AMOLEDs at night), performance tuning, over/under-clocking, and much more. It's the key to getting the performance you want from your device.

People will probably answer yes to that, but it isn't true, it's placebo.

As every body knows there's a flurry of kernels coming out for moto g3 (2015) osprey
So I thought l should start a thread to compare and contrast the performance, battery life etc of these kernel..
Pls note that its not just 'best kernel' thread..
Pls share your experiences with screenshots and other details
Pls don't forget to mention your ROM too
Also a BIG thanks to all the kernel devolapers!!
Go crazy
Blu Spark r_92 for 5.1.1 is hands down the best kernel I've used. Its blu_active governor with hotplug, working with 1612mhz.... it made the best performing kernel I've found. In fact, I am the current world record holder on geekbench 3 for motog3's. I scored a 1689 multi-core a few days ago. With the stock Kernel, it will average about 525/1550 (single/multi)... with blu_spark, optimal settings, and a cool phone --- 550's/1680's. Heat has never been a problem for me with it. I use it all day, everyday. And with proper tweaking of the blu-active governor, I can get a full day's worth of use out of it. Even graphic intensive and CPU loaded games -- Real Racing 3 for instance, It runs smooth and under the radar as far as tempature throttling goes.
A little birdy told me that they were able to get 1.8ghz and 525mhz out of their moto g with tweaking of the blue spark kernel. I can not verify this. But I trust the source.
Anyways, as far as 6.0 kernels go.... X-Finity R3 has been my favorite so far. The choice of governors/tunables/hotplugs/IO schedulers.... is a tuners dream come true! I realize there's an R4 available, but after trying it twice downloaded, and installed clean, then installed dirty.... I get random reboots during in kind of use. Intensive, or dozing. R3, doesn't do this for me.
Anyways, I've found the R3 works well with Conservative Govenor, intelliplug conservative, hysteriesis of 12, threshold disabled, touch boost on @ 800mhz on cpu0 and cpu1, disabled on the 2 and 3. Further, I set the governor up as such: Down 50, ignore nice load 0, freq step 9, sampling down 1, sam rates 200000 and 200000, and up @ 95%. Then I put the minimum boost times @ 0ms. IO is deadline. 200 read expire, 7500 write expire. Fifo batch of 2, and writes starved 24.
GPU is 465max, 200min, simple on demand. But I check the GPU renders 2d under dev options.
With these settings... i can get amazing battery life, super fast performance, and efficient cpu management. I'm never running more cores than I need, running hot, lagging, etc.
So my question is this:
-Why did blu spark integrate OC into the cpu's.... and a rather large one at that -- about 260mhz or 20%! And yet, now we have 4 custom kernels -- squid, xfinity, optimus, and ultra.... and not one of them has overclocking?
It'd be impressive to see someone find a voltage/freq table that allows for 1.7 or even 1.8ghz out of these processors. I'd certainily be willing to test it first!
Does anybody have the Blu Spark r_92 zip? It's not available anymore in its (closed) thread.

I need this zip too. Waiting for Marshmallow (not yet available in my country) I want to try a different kernel instead of the stock one.

I have the stock ROM, Android 5.1, so I need the blu_kernel compatible with my settings.
Thank you
Same here. R92 for 5.1.1 stock ROM. Thanks in advance.

flashhh said there will be no OC in his kernel, hoping squid will introduce it in his kernel
I flashed the zip from recovery. On the device's info tab the phone show me that blu_spark kernel is installed. But where I can manage the feature of the kernel, such as double tap to wake up?
@sivlab install Kernel Adiutor for example.
Thanks for the upload.
Best recommenced kernel for cm 13 with battery and performance? Right now on optimus kernel by Flashhh ! Does a decent job! Oly thing is that changes don't stick on reboot from the kernel auditor
Does blu Stark Kernel works on cm13 ?

It's a cm 12.1 kernel! But then you could try after making a nandroid backup! Be careful if your trying is all I could say!
IMO, it will result in bootloop! But I might be wrong!
So I want to know the best combination of a ROM and Kernel that would really improve gaming on the moto g 3rd gen and also be good with multiple apps open. The battery has do be good enough as I still want a decent battery life because after all It's going to be my daily driver.
I also prefer a CM rom since I love the CM theme engine and I do not like OMS or Layers.
current nightly CM13 is snappy, i dont know about other roms
I've gone through many of them. RR (vatsal) is my preference. Fire kernel. Best IMO

Do you have any specific kernel settings and which fire kernel version? Im on RR but not vatsals but im willing to switch. Ur on 7.3?
ROM should mostly be irrelevant here, any stable one should be fine... Kernel will make the difference. For smooth gaming use an OC kernel, but it will be at the expense of battery life. You won't gain significant performance and battery life, it's one way or the other, battery life at the expense of performance or vis-versa.

Yes. Latest RR. Lionfish , zram 1000 2 cores active, alucard, min 200 in GPU. Fire kernel. 128/256
I have installed a kernel and the application to support it (Kernel Adiutor). I want to know what CPU Governor i should use. I don't play games much just some small games with low graphics (bottle flip extreme). I don't want It lag like those old Samsung phones. It should be smooth.
I am currently on darkness.
I have given the screenshot of the CPU Governor available.
Wrong section!
----
I recommend the "Chill" governor or "Lionfish"

There is no way of saying... performance vs lag is trade off and the only way to know what works best for you would be to test them... I would start with one of the Intelliactive variants then Lionfish.

If you delete the kernel settings app? Generally yes.
Hi, currently im using blu spark kernel but I'm wondering which kernel is the best if all what I care is smothness of os, scrolling etc. And second question: if I have now blu spark kernel and want to change it for a elementalx for example all I must to do is just flash new kernel in recovery or go back to stock and flash then? And third.. what options i can change in kernel audiotor to get best smothness? I'm just crazy about smothness, all my monitors have 144hz and every single, even little drop of fps make my nervous.. Thanks for answers

This is going to be tough. If smoothness is your goal then EX, Flash, Radioactive, Smurf will be potential candidates. I've heard recently a lot of people falling in love with the flash kernel but development has been halted until further notice. I personally use EX. Half these kernels achieve similar functionality so it's largely preference and what mates with your device well.
All the kernels are very good and the OP6 is naturally so fast that it's hard to tell which one is better.
Indeed, a lot of people say flash kernel is the fastest and the one with the best performance. I can tell it's blazing fast. But is it faster than others? I couldn't tell for sure.
From my personal experience, I can tell Flash is great (but not maintained anymore, so don't expect it to keep working after a few OOS updates), otherwise I really love blu spark and FK. However, these two have bugs with camera since OOS 9.0.2 so I'd recommend to wait for a move from OP or them before recommending them.
Fourth great recommendation, EX: it's really good and rock-stable.
I use EX Kernel and it's insanely stable and 100% smooth. Never had a hiccup, stutters or lag with the kernel and achieve 9-11 hours of screen on time per charge. I've used flash kernel in the past but was a time but more performance based and not quite as good with battery then EX is but I read it's no longer in development which I find strange. The flash had been the kernels for OnePlus devices since the 5 that I know of and I think since the 3 actually.
From my experience, Flash and BluSpark kernels are the smoothest. EX and FK are more battery friendly.
Also, both Flash and BluSpark had way better Antutu benchmarks when comparing to EX/FK.
