I have installed a kernel and the application to support it (Kernel Adiutor). I want to know what CPU Governor i should use. I don't play games much just some small games with low graphics (bottle flip extreme). I don't want It lag like those old Samsung phones. It should be smooth.
I am currently on darkness.
I have given the screenshot of the CPU Governor available.
Wrong section!

I recommend the "Chill" governor or "Lionfish"

There is no way of saying... performance vs lag is trade off and the only way to know what works best for you would be to test them... I would start with one of the Intelliactive variants then Lionfish.

If you delete the kernel settings app? Generally yes.

Is there a way to increase fps in games, for example on FIFA it's normally smooth but when you get in side the box and there lots players around it lag like hell. I'm using endy 3.4

1. Overclock... increase your clock speed from whatever you have to 300-400 MHz more.
2. Undo any undervolting that you've applied.
3. Set the v6 supercharger profile to aggressive or insane
4. Change IO scheduler to SIO
5. Turn off the internet (both Wifi and Mobile Data) and sync when you're playing.
Do this without being sceptical... first try it out and then report back if it made any difference. See if that helps.

Well, in that case, i think you should just flash Reaper and see if Sense was the problem... See if you get a performance boost with a lighter ROM.
You could also give chainfire 3d a go. Never tried it myself though
yeah install reaper ,oc to 1.2gig+,install chainfire pro and you should see a good improvement
Imho chainfire 3d doesn't give any performance boost, it's more of a compatibility tool. In some cases games run even better without it.
Ahhh... screw this. Just go out to the field and play real football man!
Amen to that brother.
Or buy a beer. Beer is always good.

it does if you select reduce textures.
Oh yeah. Actually You're right. The downside could be game looking much worse, but I actually noticed some improvement back in the past on one of games.
This is the version of my ragingmolasses governor made specifically for the m8/from m8 sources
This is for kernel devs
Any further versions will be found on my github or through contacting me as there will be no further posting from me on XDA
Download

https://www.mediafire.com/?1z0rruu1t0ahoec
If you want to use it just give credit and if you are using it on a different device and having trouble you may contact me through github/my email
https://github.com/Echoa89
future versions will be working towards being less device specific
What is Ragingmolasses?
--------------------------------
Besides a gov with an awesome name its a mash up of conservative and ondemand and scales based on load with few tunables. Its meant to be simple, fast, and efficient at keeping the frequency away from the max clock unless it is absolutely needed. it includes gboost for better gaming.
Ragingmolasses tunables
------------------------------------
Sampling Rate - how often it checks CPU load, i keep this low around 10000-15000
up_threshold - above this it becomes ondemand governor based 100% on CPU load, below it acts like conservative and tries to keep the frequency down.
sampling_rate_min - dont worry about this
ignore_nice_load - the system will ignore "Nice" processes when deciding to scale up or down. I leave it at 0
Thank you, downloading now. Is this for Sense or AOSP?

for kernel devs dont flash
it is for either if you compile it in
So if I keep sample rate low in theory it should save battery? Defualt its set to 40000 so I lowered it to 15000.
Nice, may add this to Blissful kernel in future builds.

Interesting gov. Might give this a try
For the up_threshold what do you personally usually keep that at if you do not mind me asking? Better yet, could you share all your personal settings or are they all how you have in the OP? Just wondering if you have adjusted them over time?
Hey guys I'm back working on this again, been gone trying to deal with some severe depression issues so haven't really had the will to do it. RM 2.0 is going to be a complete rework to make it device agnostic and to improve its useability in audiophile cases as the rapid frequency switching can degrade audio quality (noise from the CPU switching). I want to make it more aware of what the user is doing to provide the best possible response depending on the situation. My goal is a gov. that is good on battery but will also provide a quality experience most smartphone/tablet usage scenarios and is simple and will handle itself without user input so no need to adjust settings for performance in X case because the gov. will do it for you.

Nope I've left everything exactly as it is in OP
Can't wait
I was wondering if any of you overclocked your device and why, did it help you and do you use it on daily basis? I was thinking to oc my phone but for me it seems that overclocking is pretty pointless.
I did over clock, ive also disabled two cores and left two overclocked. I now under clock slightly to save battery as lollipop is much faster so I don't need to over clock and if I use an aosp ROM there is little lag with good battery life. I think over clocking is pointless unless gaming and that's coming from an over clock addict lol.
It's pointless except if you're benchmarking.
During intensive tasks other than benchmarking, it's even more pointless, as it will hit thermal throttle/shutdown even faster.
Does it help with overall Ui smoothness and multitasking/app opening?

2.2GHz is already plenty enough. If it does not feel smooth then it's because your kernel's CPU governor doesn't make the CPU go up to 1.7GHz-2.2GHz enough. This is something you can tune yourself.

You mean 2.3? And it is very smooth but I'm just wondering if it will help me get more juice out of Cpu and make phone even faster [emoji14]

Same thing, 2256MHz is the only 2.2/2.3GHz step on the Nexus 5.
If it is already smooth, it won't make anything smoother, it will just use up battery.
The nexus speed is more than enough for me ?? , no need for overclocking
Hello!
I was searching for a kernel to flash that would be able to support the powersave governor.
But with no luck so far, I'm asking if someone is familiar with this? Seems like Performance, interactive and userspace are the only ones available after what I've found so far.
My device:
920F, 32GB
Currently running aTerminator at 6.0.1, using SpaceX kernel atm.
Eventually, are there any applications or modifications out there that would support the Octa core setup on the phone?
I've tried the No-frills and cpu-booster, but both of them only show one of the cpus, (the 1.5 ghz one) and doesn't even affect the clock rate when adjusting the settings.
My goal is to downclock the device a bit, or be able to save some more power by loading a different Governor.
Anything is appreciated, thanks!

You can try hacker kernel v13 and use synapse to underclock and undervolt but no powersave governer is available but plenty of other to try
Powersave governor isn't for daily use, it should use only for offline charging mode.

It's good enough if you're dependant on the battery life certain days I know the performance suck but it works.
Thanks for replying I'll try hacker kernel.
Shalom, I want to know if more people are experiencing lag or fps drop on this version.. I just receive the phone... didnt have this problems on oneplus 8 android 12
PS: I think I fix it... for some reason there was activated "expaneded ram", desactivate it, reboot and looks like the problem is gone for good.
thanks
FPS drop still on C.61 :C
Still getting FPS drops and performance issues on F.17 version... BUT! I start testing different cpu governor and discover that even on conservative performace was improved while gameing and FPS was fixed... the default "schedutil" of the oneplus 9 really sucks x'D!!! I'll never think this was mainly the problem... game app is installed but apparently its not setting cpu to performance while gaming even when setted up as perfomarnce...

easiest and best solution is change governor to conservative or performance. I also try to unlimit the schedultil governor changing his variables... but wasn't entirely successfuly and from time to time that settings got reset.
I use 3c cpu manage (on rooted phone)

you will be surprised... Most surprise for me is that I believe even get better battery life... I can't be sure because i'vnt done clean testing... but in a short test seeing in 3c cpu manager I notice that schedutil was getting higher hz on basic slow cpu than conservative...
Maybe there's a kernel error messing around that schedutil governor.... or missconfigurations.. on other models use very different values... Idk.. hope next update bring more governos or fix the problem, we deserve our phone could run at max speed! Maybe games app should change governor to performance while gaming and setting up performance mode...
