Galaxy S2 Skyrocket Won't turn on. - General Questions and Answers

Hi everybody. I'm new to this forum also not native english speaker so please forgive me if I do any mistake or grammar error. Anyway, I have a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, the At&t model. I live on Europe so I use it as a unlocked sim phone. I have it for more than a year and It was performing good, no problems at all. But recently, I just put it out from my pocket to see the time, and it was off. It was doing good 5 minutes before. Tried to turn it on, it didn't. Pulled out the battery couple of times, still didn't turn on. So when I went home I put it on charger to see what happen, with and without battery on, no reaction at all. Tried to boot into recovery and download mode, still nothing. I heard about water damage but I can assure this is not the problem. So I went to a local phone repairer and it told me something about an internal part, something like 'memory chip' (I don't know if this is the exact word to call it in english) It would cost me about 40$ to repair it and I don't know if it's worth since the phone is a lot old now also I can't be sure how much it would resist or if this problem would happen again in no time. So I would appreciate if somebody would know anything about this problem and may help me to know a bi more cuz I don't want to rush and do it. Thanks.

Flashing will kill your phone!!

Hi, help please. I been using these new builds and working very well, but now I just get 'The SIM card is missing', I have tried other SIM cards with the same message!.. please help
thanks
Help Help Help, please any ideas, my phone is still stuck on sim card missing!
have you tryed reflashing it with different rom?
Yes, flashed with 3 ROM's and also flashed with RADIO's ROM's, but still the same.
This phone is getting worse, with no phone working I still use it for TOMTOM, but now no sound or patchie sounds, music or phone sounds, I flash it back to WM5 still same and flash it back to WM6 but still no sound. Is there anyway to completey delete the phone so nothing on it then flash it.
Maybe it's because you've got an hardware problem ... so maybe you should see your "service after sale" !!
I would if it was still in contract, so I am thinking about taking the thing apart, and see if anything come loose?. any info would be nice, tried searching but nothing
This phone is very sick, if i put a SIM card in it I get a blank screen when it reboots, or if I take SIM out I may get the blank screen which I have to reset couple of times, took the back off but cannot see any connector off. So I have to pay alot of money to fix it or buy another PDA.

My only question is: What changed?
Is there something that you can think of that caused this to occur?
Have you dropped or bumped the phone? Liquid got to it? Charging when the power died or there was a lightning strike?
Without knowing this, there is very little that can be done.
As for pulling the device apart - I would recommend against this. Complex electronics like these have no user-serviceable parts, the most you can do is to look for physical damage (such as burnt components or broken legs on chips) or water damage. And then, even if you did find the damage, you would be able to do very little with it as the components can be hard to find (for any of the chips) and the soldering is extremely difficult (my father hand solders surface-mount components using special liquid-solder and a microscope).
If you want to repair it, find your nearest HTC (or I-Mate\Dopod\O2\etc) repair centre and give it to them. Keep in mind that you've already voided the warranty by installing a custom ROM (although you can just install the manufacturer's ROM and pretend you never used WM6...).
Hope this helps!
I use it every day with TOMTOM or I-go (lorry driver),so getting knock's vibration-yes. camera stop working and green went green-but after a couple of weeks it when back normal. never failed on flashing or stuck on bootmode. NO SIM started I just reset it then it was ok until next time. Then it went back normal for a couple of weeks, then NO SIM came on and couple more things happen(above posts). And that how it stands. So 12 months gone a passed (18 month contract). So its sent it to O2( big bill I think) or buy a PDA (cheap I hope). Or wait and see for upgrade brings
Update on my EXEC, It starts as followed, O2 screen comes up with it info at bottom right then the next screen is the windows mobile6 screen and then black screen, tryed mtty, also re flashed it....now its dead R.I.P...
I think I flashed it too many times so be warned!!!!
Been looking at other PDA phones, none of them comes near EXEC will apart from AMEO(thats nice but too much), so looks like another EXEC I think, and yes I will be flashing that one as well if I get O2 to part with one.
Hi, all tryed to get a new EXEC from O2, but sady they say they dont do it no more, so upgraded to the ORBIT( or should I say down graded). SO I like to say bye bye and watch that flashing because it will kill your phone.

SOLVED!!! [Q] Help! Nexus S won't turn on!!! :(

Hi everyone.
Last night I went to bed and as usual I check my Nexus S battery.
It indicated me very low battery, and turn it off.
So far, no problem, i thought, well there isn't enough battery to turn on the phone. I connected the cellphone to the wall charger and went to sleep.
Today i woke up and try it to turn it on, the screens just flashes and nothing happens.... Removed battery, try it again, the same.
Try 100 times that, and there was one time a Warning of Bootloader came up. Don't know what i did different thought, but now i can't get the same result.
Actually now the screen doesn't even flashes when i press the power button.
The battery seems to be charged, i tested with a LED. My wall charger is also working cause it's able to charge my old phone.
And now to get things even worse, as i bought it in asia, i don't have warranty, and the gran finale, Nexus S is not been sold in Brazil due to some regulatory issues, so Samsung said it they can't help me with an imported product.
The Cellphone is brand new, doesn't have not even ONE month of use.
It's not rotted, and it was in the latest android firm.
Does anyone have any idea what can i do????
The phone doesn't respond to anything .
Tnks a lot in advance.

Is it showing full bars when you connect the charger and press the volume button?
dude, i think there is something wrong with our country. take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111761
i think you tried everything possible, can't see what else you could do. Looks like a hardware issue..
if i were you, i'd claim for warranty, even if you bought in hk, it has warranty, of course you will lose shipping cost, but, it's better than lose the phone! =o]
good luck!
GchildT: Nothing happens when i connect the charger to the cellphone.
Already tried the hard reset (volumn up + power button) nothing happens
thiagodark: Tell me about it, i read this thread ealier this morning, actually i send it a private message asking him if he solve his problem... samsung is really disappoint me.
The thing i found most said is that the phone is bran new! Not a month year old.
And i didn't do anything, not even rotted, dropped, anything!
PROBLEM SOOOOOOOOOOOLVED!!!
The problem was that there was a little tiny piece of plastic dirt in the usb male plug in the phone! And that piece was able to make a faulty contact with the charger, the phone battery was dead as hell.
Can you believe that?????
I almost sent my phone across the world in order to use the warranty.
Now I'm back with my cellphone up , happy as hell!
Tnks a lot, and remenber to always clean everything before use more drastic measures.

[Q] galaxy s3 i535 wont turn on

hi everyone,
im really new to xda so im not sure if this is where i should be posting this but hopefully someone can still help me out..?
well i bought this verizon s3 off ebay about a month or so ago- refurbished for a fairly cheap price, and it was running fine the whole time. then one of my friends told me about custom ROMs and how easy it was to get. He told me to root my device and he would do the rest. After about an hour i got root access through saferoot and was quite pleased with myself. I didnt give it to him yet, and i havent installed any ROMs myself either (A couple days went by waiting for his response) when suddenly my device started lagging quite a lot. I just quickly closed my apps and pressed restart, and now i cant turn it on!
Apparently i couldve bricked it? i know i potentially voided the warranty but it was past a year already. i dont understand how it couldve happened, nothing happened during the rooting process- everything went very smooth. So what can i do now? Is it bricked? How can i unbrick it? Is it the battery? the screen? the power button? It doesnt boot AT ALL. no vibration, but the red LED lights up when plugged into the computer WHEN THE BATTERY IS OUT.
Im really at a loss here so any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hardware reset - Question

Hello all
I come today with a question that i hope someone will have an answer for.
Week ago my Nexus 5 turned of and would not turn on, at all. Only times it showed signs of life was when it was charging. Then it would show the google logo for half a second and then turn of, then do the same thing forever. There was no way to enter the recovery or any other part of the phone.
This is how it looks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wNZfC1LSBA
After reading lots of stuff on the net and contacting Google and LG(with no help from either) i figured it was game over for the phone but i decided to send the phone for repair to a bigger city in my country some 400km away.
Here is where it gets interesting. Today my father delivered the phone and they fixed it literally in 3minutes. When my father asked what they had done, they said to him (or atleast thats how he understood it) that they have done a hardware reset. Apparently the phone got "blocked" somehow and they simply reseted the hardware.
My question is, what the hell is a hardware reset and how do i perform it myself???
I have tried EVERYTHING i could find on the internet to try and fix the phone before sending it, im not the greatest expert but id like to think i know my way around android more then the average user. I have to say again, the phone showed no signs of life, it was impossible to enter recovery so i have no idea how they could have done it.
I would really like to learn how to do this, so i am prepared if it happens in the future.
Thank you for your time

Death of my S7 edge and warranty

Hi, this is not exactly question, so I post into discussion, I want just your opinion... or if somenthing like this happened to you:
It started by simple restarting, or random vibrating from time to time. I just thought its some ROM related bug becouse I didnt update it for about 2 months, maybe something got messy. But I had some work to do and told myself it can wait few days. Then some strange freezes occured with vertical or horizontal strips made of small colourful dots. Only hard reset holding all buttons helped. Freezes, restarts etc. then continued quite frequently. This was time for clean rom installation. I went to TWRP, wiped everything except external SD. Done. I was going to hit install in twrp when freeze occured last time and after long continuous vibration it was gone. Now it does not react toabsolutely anything, holding all buttons - nothing. Connecting to charger - nothing, no icon, no charging indicator. Connecting to PC - nothing, it dont even notice connection of new hardware, Odin also sees nothing... It seem to be as dead as possible.
But this situation seems very good to me after all, becouse phone was rooted, knox tripped. They would never repair it for free if it was freezing, restarting or bugging screen becouse my warranty was gone by rooting long time ago... But now they will have hard time to get into Download mode or connect it to anything to see my voided warranty, or fact there is no ROM at all becouse it got broken right after last TWRP wipe. I might be able to come out of this with new S8 for 100€ (price difference between S7 edge and classic S8 in shop where I bought it).
What do you think? Will they tear it apart and find out about knox etc., or they will not go so deep when its completly dead and there are no physical marks of even using that phone? Have no idea how deep is their analysis and if they will try to change motherboard or just trash it giving me new one or money...
Any experiences with samsung repair service?
PS: sry for my grammar, had only 4 years of english classes at high school, not using it until then (only in forums like this)
Usually the guys at service station don't bother to go in download mode to check the tripped know it depends on countries to countries in most of the countries people got their phone repaired even though there phone was knox tripped and rooted
I hope they fix your phone for free as the service guys are lazy they'll probably tell that your SOC is fried and would recommend changing the SOC
thx for reply... true, they dont bother in my country very much at service ... they already changed my camera lens becouse left corner was always blury and no problem with knox tripped, but it was clearly HW problem on their side which appeared even on first photo, I just didnt notice it and rooted it first week of S7 launch... this also was not caused by root, but if they somehow find out they could use it as excuse, so i hope they will not try hard with software examination when its HW problem again
Just want to add to the list.My previous device (xperia z2 which goes to the same service center here in Bosnia) ,they never searched if i had custom rom installed. They just fixed it by changing motherboard. Please let us all know what will happen when you return your device to them.I think there is no way they can find out what you did to that device or if it is knox tripped.
Ok, I will report results here. It should be fixed in two weeks, max one month (or not if they find out about root, but I also think they will not)
Got my repaired phone back. With new motherboard and 0x0 original knox etc. Old motherboard was compleatly dead with all root info with it... Everything works now
