hi everyone,
im really new to xda so im not sure if this is where i should be posting this but hopefully someone can still help me out..?
well i bought this verizon s3 off ebay about a month or so ago- refurbished for a fairly cheap price, and it was running fine the whole time. then one of my friends told me about custom ROMs and how easy it was to get. He told me to root my device and he would do the rest. After about an hour i got root access through saferoot and was quite pleased with myself. I didnt give it to him yet, and i havent installed any ROMs myself either (A couple days went by waiting for his response) when suddenly my device started lagging quite a lot. I just quickly closed my apps and pressed restart, and now i cant turn it on!
Apparently i couldve bricked it? i know i potentially voided the warranty but it was past a year already. i dont understand how it couldve happened, nothing happened during the rooting process- everything went very smooth. So what can i do now? Is it bricked? How can i unbrick it? Is it the battery? the screen? the power button? It doesnt boot AT ALL. no vibration, but the red LED lights up when plugged into the computer WHEN THE BATTERY IS OUT.
Im really at a loss here so any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Alright so I know that there has been some discussion on this POS model of a phone, but I would love to know before I get the digitizer replaced, if it's a bug or something else.
I guess it started about 8-10 months ago, my brother bought the phone from Mobilicity here in Canada and he let his friend borrow the phone for a call. She dropped it on the cement and the glass cracked. The LCD itself is functioning, but when I got it I had to wipe the device through the recovery menu using Power-X then ALT-L. Anywho every month or so since I got it a few months back for free and long story short it's been glitching out constantly.
Now finally the screen barely works and until I got the "smart" idea to recover it again thinking it would fix but the screen only reads the bottom right side and nothing else. Oh and I'm stuck on that stupid Touch Android to Begin screen. So I'm pretty much SOL'd. Basically my question is this; is it the digitizer, corrupted FW, the phone is just shot or all of the above?
If it's repairable could someone please tell me how to enable usb debugging without the touchscreen or in the very least bypass this Android screen with the keyboard, PC or both? I used Droid Explorer a couple days ago to even control the screen with ScreenCast?
I know of ADB, Input Events, and stuff like that but I really can't figure out what to do. I thought about Clockwork but because the phone has a locked bootloader, I wasn't sure I could even install. Hell I even consider using my other phone to do a NANDROID backup but even that won't work.
So in short what the hell do I do?
My LG G2 stopped working last week. The screen totally went dead out of nowhere, and I went to the store and ordered a replacement. I have the new phone so everything is good, but how do I go about returning the old one? I rooted it like 2 weeks ago, how can I unroot without a working screen? The phone won't even connect as a usb device to my computer anymore (and I can't change the settings cause of the screen..).
Will verizon know it is rooted even if the screen doesn't work? I don't want to get shafted with a $500 charge just for rooting. I'm sure this has to have happened to people before so if anyone has any info I'd appreciate it.

Throw it in download mode and get the KDZ or whatever it's called for your device. it'll install a completely stock ROM on your device.
the last time i had to return a phone for non-functionality after i'd gained administrator access, they didn't even look at the phone before they gave me a replacement. that's what my money's on here, too, especially with a broken screen and no usb function. they probably won't even attempt to repair it, it's just not worth it. they'll try to recover the precious metals from it and be done.
no promises of course, but that's my guess.
Hello everyone,
I have a bit of a problem and I was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. I started having problems with my s3 rebooting at random times. eventually, it wouldn't boot past my CM11 splash screen and now, it won't turn on. It will only vibrate when a battery is inserted. Now, I have a problem with trying to fix things myself, so knowing that I was out of the 1 year warranty, I took it a part to see if the solder joints on the power switch looked ok, and they did. I then reassembled the phone. Verizon is sending me a replacement s3 because they say it is a manufactures defect and that they will cover it free of charge. My question: If the phone won't boot, what are the odds that they will find CM11 installed on my phone and will they know that I disassembled the phone (if that voids anything)? I'm pretty sure they charge 300.00 bucks if they find that out. Has anyone had this experience? Will they be able to power it on? I would love some feedback! Thanks in advance, you guys are always so helpful.
Can you boot it into Download mode and re ODIN the stock firmware?

Hi everybody. I'm new to this forum also not native english speaker so please forgive me if I do any mistake or grammar error. Anyway, I have a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, the At&t model. I live on Europe so I use it as a unlocked sim phone. I have it for more than a year and It was performing good, no problems at all. But recently, I just put it out from my pocket to see the time, and it was off. It was doing good 5 minutes before. Tried to turn it on, it didn't. Pulled out the battery couple of times, still didn't turn on. So when I went home I put it on charger to see what happen, with and without battery on, no reaction at all. Tried to boot into recovery and download mode, still nothing. I heard about water damage but I can assure this is not the problem. So I went to a local phone repairer and it told me something about an internal part, something like 'memory chip' (I don't know if this is the exact word to call it in english) It would cost me about 40$ to repair it and I don't know if it's worth since the phone is a lot old now also I can't be sure how much it would resist or if this problem would happen again in no time. So I would appreciate if somebody would know anything about this problem and may help me to know a bi more cuz I don't want to rush and do it. Thanks.
So I've had my Infinity since they first came out. Before that I had the Prime and did the whole Best Buy /bad gps swap thing. Everything was going along nicely ... I was rooted unlocked and had CromiX installed. Loved it.
Then one day all of a sudden it just died on me. I researched the symptoms and came to the conclusion that it was a bad motherboard. It wouldn't fire up but the charging lights would turn on when plugged in. I tried all of the various methods of resetting etc.. Finally got fed up with it. I disassembled it and searched on ebay for a motherboard but never ended up buying one because I heard that when installing a new motherboard it would not match the CPU ID and would not be unlockable. I remember trying it a month after it died just to see if it would turn back on and it did not.
Just recently I was thinking about it and how nice it would be if I had a tablet again so I decided to reassemble it and I turned it on and low and behold it works! So here I am wondering what I should do with this thing. I see that there is a whole bunch of new development and I'm thinking to maybe go with the KitKat ROM. What do you guys think? Is it a nice change?
I've been researching it all day. I'd like to know what the hive thinks though. Is there anything about the KitKat ROM that you would consider to be a major drawback? I'd really like to wipe this thing well in case there was something with the software that made it die before. What is the best most thorough method of doing that? I don't care about any of the data or apps on there now.
Thanks for your time to all who look at this and reply. It's nice to be back.
