So after reading the Engadget review of the One X, I've become intrigued with the differences between the Canadian and AT&T versions of the One X. Searched and didn't see anything referencing this directly. The article says LTE should work fine on both AT&T and Canuck networks.
So, besides saying HTC at the top instead of AT&T and I suppose having Rogers bloatware instead of the usual AT&T crap, is there any other difference?

The moment we have a ROM granting that functionality, I am flashing. I do not live in an LTE area

Also, another difference is the ability to tether freely. Not that I use this feature. However, it would be nice.
I believe the AT&T model lacks the ability of a LTE on/off toggle, tethering and a few optings in the camera like time lapse (I think there might be one othere, not sure though).
I think most things we will be able to rip out of the International model or the Rogers model and cram them into the AT&T version. Also, Im sure custom roms will add all of these features back in.

Is there any PHYSICAL difference to the exterior of the AT&T version? Are the phones identical apart from CPU and software?

cpu's are the same, all hardware is the same.. only difference is software...

Yes, it will, I have a Rogers One X and used the micro sim from the AT&T One X in it. But the trick is getting them to add the LTE data plan to your account. If you already have an AT&T branded LTE device, then you shouldn't have a problem. But good luck getting them to add an LTE data plan to your account if you don't. They insist on using IMEI numbers now to determine which data plans you can add to the account. Your best bet is to borrow or buy a cheap LTE AT&T phone, get your data plan switched to an LTE one, get a micro sim, get them to activate it on your non-micro sim device ,and then switch the micro SIM to your Rogers One X.
It is possible, just a PITA.

The AT&T version of the One X has a snapdragon dual core processor as opposed to the international version that has the Nvidia Tegra quad core processor. This is due to the Tegra processor not being compatible with LTE .http://www.att.com/onex/
Does anyone know if the external measurements of the two One X's are the same?

I am currently on the Unlimited iPhone Data plan, and they switched me over to the LTE Unlimited Plan with an LTE IMEI. I might buy the One X from Rogers Unlocked.

Between the LTE ones yes. International and LTE ones are different
Both the Canadian(Rogers) One X and US(AT&T) One X are the Same Device other than the sofware running on it, and the lithographed branding under the glass at the top (one say's htc, the other AT&T printed backwards on the underside of the glass)
Both are the PJ8310000
If there was a variation in the hardware one would have a different digit in this number
like the Telus DHD and Inspire 4G for example
both same device, different housing (for branding) <- why it got the different number
Telus DHD was PD9814000 and the Inspire 4G was PD9812000 (International was PD9810000)
THE CANADIAN AND U.S. ONE X'S ARE THE EXACT SAME DEVICE.
THEY ARE INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN AS THE 'ONE XL'
THE ONLY THING DIFFERENT IS THE SOFTWARE ON IT.
(that includes software customization, rf channel configs, dz data, etc...)

when you guy's get root, you'll be able to swap the services.jar, services.apk and get the same thing for yourselves.
ps: other than the boot/down annimations - being pointed to by ../CID/default.xml, the 'scene' addidion/layout in ../MNS/default.xml (both the customize folder), and carrier apps, the rogers rom is vanilla.
I'm not familiar with the Rogers software. I'm in the US and eyeing a Rogers version, if I were to get one from say Negri, does it have FREE wifi hotspot?

From what I have seen, when you are not in an LTE area the LTE is disabled and doesn't kill your battery. It's still be nice to have a toggle though.
For tether, why not just root and use WiFi Tether?

AT&T version is dual core, international is quad core. The AT&T version has 16 gigs of storage whereas the international version has 32.
Do you want a AT&T One X in particular or just a Evita from North America?
Rogers, Telus and such all have the same phone but have less restrictions.
Also you could buy an Evita from many places in the world but you need to take care with what LTE frequencies it supports. If you are in NA you should buy a NA phone.

Should say at the top Dual Core or Quad Core. Dual Core is the AT&T, Rogers, Telstra One XL.

I have been doing it with various unlocked phones, including tmobile galaxy s 1, and tmobile galaxy s2. I was just wondering if the Htc one x international, and the At&t edition had the same IMEI? Also for anyone who has tried, does it pull hspa+? according to gsmarena it should, but i just want to double check.

First off, this should be in the international forums since you are talking about that device. This isn't a forum devoted to AT&T, its to the AT&T HTC One X, which you are not purchasing.
Secondly, no, they do not have the same IMEI since they are completely different devices.
And thirdly, I would expect it to pull HSPA+ since I believe it is marketed that way.

Hey guys, the Samsung Galaxy S III is finally coming to US Cellular this Thursday and/or Friday.
This is the official thread for the US Cellular variant of the phone.
We will discuss mods, flashing, rooting, and etc.
In for my 2 friends on USCC whose phones I'll be rooting (for tether). Hopefully it won't be locked like VZW.

It won't, I spoke with a US Cellular representative today and it's where I got the release date and other details.
The thing is, that the phone does have a lot of similarities with Verizon, so the devs have 2 options.
They can make one for US Cellular and edit it for Verizon.
But as Verizon is a larger carrier, they'll probably get the Developer's edition of the phone and then at some point make a root for the US Cellular version.
You think that CyanogenMod 9 or 10 will be supported for the USC variant?

There's no reason why not.
As far as root, the CWM flash method has worked on all variants thus far, I don't see why it won't work on the USCC phone.
I am switching this fall when my contract is up in Verizon to US Cellular. What will the dev scene look like on this phone? Will it be easy to port ROMs from other GS3? If there are very few devs working on this phone, how easy is it for a end user to port the ROM from another GS3?
since I already have a mini sim and a lTE acount thats active, from my Galaxy Nexus on verizon, can I just pay cash for the us cellular version and plug in my active sim and it will work?

Well, there are already people getting the phone today, but I know that past phones like the Mesmerize and the Aviator have been Cyanogenmod supported, and Root supported.
Do you happen to know which carrier US Cellular has the most similarities to?

The US Cellular variant of the Galaxy S II shared a lot of similarities with the Epic4G Touch.
Well, as US Cellular is finally starting to grow, I've seen a lot of developers for AOKP and CM9 discussing the possibilities of ROMs by making it for the 4G Touch, and just porting it over by changing a few things.
I can't answer that last question as I really have no idea on porting ROMs, but as I said in another post, it's either closer to Verizon or Sprint.
But for the S II, I've seen a few threads that it was very easy, but that they just had to change a few things, so I'm assuming that it's not that much of a hassle.

I've tried Googling that but I can't seem to find an answer.
Some answers say yes some say no, but I think that US Cellular has more similarities to Verizon than any other carrier, at least that's my speculation in terms of radios, as they both use the same spectrum.
But you can go to the website and go to a live chat with a representative and ask there.
Has anyone rooted this phone yet? Can we get our own section?

The instructions at galaxys3root.com works for US Cellular.
So it is confirmed that this phone has an unlocked bootloader?
Has anyone tried and can verify on U.S. Cellular that they have used galaxys3root.com and it worked?
this phone can be rooted with the method that team epic uses for the sprint version. I dunno what the website you're talking about does but it is the same method as it is with all the other carriers.
I would love to see a separate section for us, no we aren't gonna have a whole lot of development going on compared to the big 4 but it would be really nice to have a place where we can have specific discussions and rom ports and things for just us.

Yes that site just has a set by step guide for installing the Team Epic recovery using ODIN and it worked on my US Cellular Galaxy S III.

So it seems the CDMA s6 uses the qualcomm MDM9635 modem instead of the shannon 333. This is surely because of the fact CDMA patents are largely owned by qualcomm (something along the lines of that) . What I want to speculate on is the fact that both the sprint and U. S. Cellular version have more lte bands listed than the Verizon model. Most notably 12 and 17. These would be great to have especially if someone ever wanted to jump ship to T-Mobile or AT&T (I'm sure for that exact reason verizon probably asked for them to be disabled). I'm wondering if we ever received root, and that's a big if, we could theoretically unlock those bands also. All in all it would make this phone more globally and domestically appealing. What are you guys thoughts on this? Hopefully we can have some devs jump aboard once we achieve root to make this happen.

Just a guess but I don't think just having root would allow this as at bare minimum it sounds like you'd have to modify the RIL.
Just get a Canadian variant G920W8. No CDMA support, but full LTE interoperability with SHANNON333 modem supporting Band 12, 13, 17, 2, 4, 5, 29.

If CDMA wasn't an issue I would have got the international SM-G925F because that has plenty of LTE Band support. But at least for the next few years verizon still has a CDMA network and where I'm at that's the only provider I get good service with.

I actually did this with the one plus I had but I don't know if I want to try this with my s6. Don't have time to really fix things if anything goes wrong unfortunately or I would have

Well in all honesty the sprint galaxy s6 uses the mdm9635 as per a sprint rdf file on the phone. I was just making the assumption that the Verizon one would use the same one.
I'd love to hear if anyone else succeeds w/ this. I need more LTE bands than the crap list that Verizon supports on this damn modem

The hardware is definitely capable. It's just a matter of someone more experienced tampering around. It should be on a software side that the bands are being disabled. Unfortunately if there is code within the kernel itself that's blocking these bands we may never be able to utilize them.

Verizon supports very few other LTE Bands for international users. Those in Asia do not have LTE coverage.

The thing is its stated you might need a custom kernel for these changes to stick. Seeing as our bootloader is locked most likely we will never get anything more than a custom rom. I don't really think any devs are looking into this. Modem work isn't really my cup of tea. Hope eventually someone comes up with something.
So the unlocked One A9 has me intrigued, as it seems like the right device to replace my aging One M8 while waiting for my 2 year upgrade in April. I'm hoping we'll see some decent carrier subsidized Snapdragon 820 devices by mid 2016, but if I need to wait longer the A9 can tide me over. I like that for $399, I get 32GB plus expandable storage, something that I can't get for that price with either the Nexus 5X or Moto X Pure Edition.
My dilemma is trying to figure out if Verizon support "coming December" means we'll actually get CDMA in addition to LTE bands with the software update. The preorder price of $399 only goes to November 7, so it's a bit of a gamble for Verizon customers. Based on the spec sheet, I'm assuming there are 2 different SKUs when it comes to radio/antenna support: the Unlocked/AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon version, and the Sprint version. Only the Sprint version lists support for CDMA, but notice they reference 3 bands: BC0, BC1, and BC10. My understanding is that Sprint supports BC1 and BC10, while Verizon supports BC0 and BC1.
So did HTC just leave off the CDMA support from the Unlocked/ATT/TMo/Verizon spec sheet pending the software update? Are the 2 SKUs actually physically distinct (I know Qualcomm uses soft radios now but antennas may still need to be configured differently?) There are 2 other possibilities--Verizon could be getting a unique SKU of their own in December (with LTE + CDMA) or you may be left with VoLTE only. Since this isn't a "branded" phone and requirements have changed, VoLTE only is possible but I can't imagine consumers would be happy with it. Im in the exact same boat. I am still not getting straight answers from anybody I'm asking. If you run an unlocked version on Verizon and be forced to LTE usage only, that isn't gonna cut it. I drop to 3g all the time. Would they say hunt for WiFi? I have spoke with a rep from HTC and she told me Verizon is going to release their own version. And that she did NOT recommend to purchase the unlocked a9 and expect to get full features from the network. Ive heard people asking Verizon reps and they are saying the phone will work with the CDMA span. I'm not sure who knows what

I have decided to bring this back to the forefront as the month of December is here. I purchased the a9 and yes I'm on the Vzw network. I have called HTC and asked when the compatibility software release for vzw be available. It's funny because HTC tells me vzw will release it and to check with them. I called vzw and the tell me they know nothing about software to be release for a non vzw phone. Can I get a straight answer from HTC? What's the deal??! Has anyone else contacted HTC ?? Would you care to share their response to you.

Mahalo for your input. I hope this thread gets enough attention to where HTC will either honor the returns from VZW customers or provide the update soon. We need to continue to push HTC for a quick resolution!
They sent an email a few weeks ago saying support for Verizon was going to be delayed, with no ETA...so it's a no-go for December...lucky if we see it by January/February.
Shoot, let me have the update so I can test it for goodness sakes!!! VZW sucks...I'm bailing on them in 12 months...done with it.
Called HTC today to find out what the latest news for the VZW software compatible release is at. They told me that it will be sometime in the first quarter of 2016?. They couldn't give an exact date just first quarter. I told the rep that I would like to see if they can start the refund process. The rep told me that since I bought the phone in November that the time elapsed to start a refund. REALLY... I told the rep I haven't been able to use the phone and for HTC now saying first quarter... this means that it might be up to 6 months after purchase before I could even use the phone. I'm taking it to the next level and plan to call a higher up in the food chain. I have been using HTC phones for years, and don't understand how you can say that the phone is VZW compatible and continue to delay. This should have all been worked out prior to launch. They would have been better off saying that this phone is not for VZW. If this is the stance HTC is going to take with VZW customers they just lost my business!

Good point. It should have been worked out prior to launch. But check this out. I put my VZW sim in today and I get 4g LTE BUT I can not make phone calls .Only surf the net. I never noticed that before.

That was my exact fear...I ended up getting a Moto X Pure instead for the CDMA support. The issue is that VoLTE (what Verizon calls "Advanced Calling 1.0") isn't supported on unlocked (non-Verizon) devices yet. Case in point...my Moto X Pure won't support VoLTE even though its fully capable of it. Why Verizon doesn't support yet...I'm not sure. I think eventually they *have* to allow VoLTE on unlocked devices to comply with FCC conditions on the 700mhz spectrum. I'm guessing that's what is delaying HTC's support--probably has nothing to do with HTC, but they're waiting for Verizon to expand support.
Glad when I switched over to VZW 12 months ago, I took advantage of the discounts for switching, got wife/kids new iPhones on payment plan, just buy my phones outright, but I'm in a no-comitment contract for them. Only thing is the iPhones we owe 12 months of payments on. So really, I can just pay the difference/payoff of the iPhone, and walk away from Verizon.
Right now, I put a cricket plan/sim on my A9 just to use it and have an operational phone. At this rate from what you guys have said/HTC is saying, VZW is a black hole and useless carrier.
Probably jumping ship, going back to ATT...with the offers to leave carriers/promos...no reason to stay with VZW. We are stuck with the 10GB share plan from 12 months ago they ran to attract people from other carriers. Now, TMo and a few are offering even more data, and just need to leave your carrier.
Every month we are busting through it and getting additional charges. Just need to run away from VZW. Nothing really wrong with the service/performance, but it is nothing but problems for their phones/devices like Android. This entire HTC One A9 is a classic VZW problem for Android users. Phones/devices have support for their network (the A9 supposedly soon), but the carrier/VZW is the problem. Not to mention all the other issues with VZW, updates blah blah and their control freak nature.
No contract = bye-bye VZW for me soon. Shoot, I can likely just switch to another carrier, get a $1/month iPhone for wife/kids each, pay off their phones, and put them up for sales and walk away from VZW for basically a break-even, BUT, have three new iPhone 6s for them. At this rate, maybe I will go back to the iPhone...the v3 was the last one I owned...rofl.
Yeah...Anyway....first quarter...pfffft. Done with your Verizon..and HTC is about to chase me away as well at this rate.

The Moto X Pure does support Verizon VoLTE. I've been using it since launch.

Do you have advanced calling enabled on your account? Make sure it is then check in the phone settings to see if VoLTE or enhanced 4glte mode is on

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle... Sure enough just had to add the feature to my account and power cycle...VoLTE is now on!

Why wait? Just put your sim in and enable VoLTE/"Advanced Calling 1.0" on my.verizon.com as sprke suggested.
^There's no option for 1.0 VoLTE calling on their site. They call it HD Voice, which is the VoLTE, and it doesn't work even enabled on my phone.

Yes, it's seems they renamed "Advanced Calling 1.0" to "HD Voice", but it doesn't matter, both are just how they call VoLTE.
What do you mean it doesn't work? What happens if you make a call?
Did you enable Enhanced 4G LTE Mode in Cellular network settings? Also try to reboot the phone.
EDIT: Correction, it's Mobile Data -> Voice over LTE, not Cellular network settings -> Enhanced 4G LTE Mode.
Another thing to try:
1. Enter the hidden menu using *#*#4636#*#*
2. Go in to Phone information
3. Click the TURN ON VOLTE PROVISIONED FLAG button (wont change)
4. Click the TURN OFF RADIO button
5. Wait a few seconds (for radio to turn off) and then click the TURN ON RADIO button
6. Observe that the TURN ON VOLTE PROVISIONED FLAG button has changed to TURN OFF
7. Make sure VoLTE is turned on in the menu
