a simple (decompile, edit, recompile) for your ROM's XperiaLockScreen.apk would be enough to remove it for good
if you wan't help with that, just tell me which you're using and I'll edit its XperiaLockScreen.apk and upload it for you as flashable Zip

I'm terribly sorry about this delayed reply, after hours of trying, it turned out, Samsung puts the lockscreen hint in framework-res.apk,
while Sony puts it in an individual app (it was in UxpNxtLockScreen.apk in the previous Sony lockscreen),
and now that they have changed there lockscreen to a brand new one, they changed the lockscreen apk name as well,
to become (XperiaLockScreen.apk).
Anyway, all that might be not important, all you need is something to remove that silly hint with, right!!
this is a flashable zip that contains a modded XperiaLockScreen.apk from Sony KK Generic firmware,
it should work on all Sony KK official or based ROMs, and the message won't appear in all languages
Tested on my Z1C using [KITKAT] D5503_14.3.A.0.681_Generic by Munjeni
Enjoy

Does it means we can extract the apk from 4.3 and use it in 4.4? Or will it not work due to some internal change in 4.4? I like 4.3 lockscreen betetr

I don't think it is that simple, cuz there are some other files (maybe in /framework or /lib),
if you look for it in google for example (port Sony lock screen) you should find all the info about what files you need to change to get 4.3 lockscreen on KK, [I'll look into it but I might not post anything about it, will see]
I am really missing AOSP lockscreen. I tried it myself with the help of set of modules Xposed but fails. Is there a way?

Simply remove the lockscreen apk on whatever ROM/FW you're using. You're stuck with a black background on JB though but works a treat on KK.
Ooooooooooooooo! I'll try! Thanks!

If you're talking about the zip I provided under your request, then I'm glad to hear that.
also one last thing, it would be better if you change this thread's title to (something like):
[Mod] Remove "Swipe to unlock" text from lockscreen for Sony KK framework
So that if anyone is searching for the same thing would find the solution easily
have a nice day

For all, there is xposed module which can do that too : Screen Tweaks (thread, download)
Disclaimer: This is not my original idea. I searched a lot to find ways to do this without xposed and found one. Unfortunately I cant find the xda post now to give credit.
Edit: Added flashable zip for lollipop stock GPe
This mod will remap the menu button on the S4 to recent apps button like the S5, and force all apps to show a 3-dot (action overflow) menu.
The point is that I don't like Xposed and that this works with ART.
Tested on google edition ROMs. May work on others.
Remap:
Open /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl and change
Code:
key 139[COLOR="Red"] MENU[/COLOR]
to
Code:
key 139 [COLOR="Green"]APP_SWITCH[/COLOR]
Force 3-dot menu in all apps:
1. Decompile framework-res.apk
2. Open /res/values/bools.xml and change
Code:
<bool name="config_showNavigationBar">[COLOR="red"]false[/COLOR]</bool>
to
Code:
<bool name="config_showNavigationBar">[COLOR="Green"]true[/COLOR]</bool>
3 Open /res/values/dimens.xml and change
Code:
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height">[COLOR="Red"]48.0[/COLOR]dip</dimen>
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height_landscape">[COLOR="red"]48.0[/COLOR]dip</dimen>
<dimen name="navigation_bar_width">[COLOR="red"]24.0[/COLOR]dip</dimen>
to
Code:
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height">[COLOR="Green"]0.0[/COLOR]dip</dimen>
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height_landscape">[COLOR="green"]0.0[/COLOR]dip</dimen>
<dimen name="navigation_bar_width">[COLOR="green"]0.0[/COLOR]dip</dimen>
This works in google edition ROMs and may work in others.
I have attached a flashable mods I made for KANGAKAT 7.0, 8.0, Jamal's 4.4.4 ROM, Danvdh pure nexus and custom ROM, and Stock 4.4.4.
Download (Only the stock zip is tested but they should all work fine. The zip names are "[ROM Name] - MenuBeGone.zip"

Thanks for your work. I love this mod. :good::good:
But can you tell me which application I can use to do this?
I couldn't find the location mentioned in Forced 3 dot menu.
My phone is i9500 using touchwiz based rom.
I will take a look at TW to see if this is possible. The mod as is only works on AOSP- based Roms.
You can use the xposed module menubegone in the meantime. The xposed module is more powerful any ways..
I use this because I use ART. But there is no ART on touchwiz so you can just use xposed..

Great, cause im totally lost without menu button, i already modded the button layout and got it back, but i prefer to go back to stock framework too. Thanks.

I flashed S4-GPe-Stock-5.0-MenuBeGone.zip in my Danvdh GPE5 rom and happened the same, plus the capacitive buttons doesn't make any sound when touched.

You have to sign apk file after compiling.
And I'm not sure it'll work without patching security check in services.jar...
Try to change what you need in one of existing themes (just change pngs for nav bar icons- portrait and landscape) and then replace META-INF and manifest xls from original theme (that will also "sign" the apk file, sign it with apktools or simply use app signer from market).

Hi all,
I've been searching for two days a way to reduce NavBar's DPI in Lollipop 5.1 Stock rom because they look too big to me. Since different people are looking for it (from what I've read), I would ask if someone that is able in this sector could kindly make a flashable zip for everyone (I really don't know how to... maybe with a guide I could try by myself).
Thanks in advance.
If you can't get that, get SoftKeyZ. Has keys of smaller size.

I've modified the navbar to 20dpi on stock 5.1 and using it without any issues.
You need to do change some variable values in framework-res and SystemUI apks as well as resizing the navbar icons.
Attaching a screenshot here to give you an idea about how it looks. Let me know if you need the flashable zips.

Follow this link. It will give you a generic idea about how to resize the navbar. This tutorial is for kitkat, but the steps are more or less same. You need the latest apktool jar file and java 7 installed in your system.
Since lollipop some core things are changed most probably because of selinux and security stuff, so you need to use the manifest and meta inf files from the original apk otherwise device will boot loop.
Also you need to downsize the softkey icons in the System-UI apk, else it'll look ugly after resizing.
Finally if you lowered the dpi of your device, then resizing the navbar will increase the gap between the softkeys, some people will like that, but I prefer the keys to be as close as possible so that thumb's reach can be minimal. let me know if you want that mod too. Good luck.
Thanks man, but it looks too difficult to me... I don't know anything about decompiling, java, etc...
By the way thank you very much for spending your time answering my questions.
I'll stay on Chroma until GB is compatible with 5.1.

I was using Chroma ever since it was available for N5, but came back to stock because google maps was FC'ing continuously. Downloaded the latest chroma just yesterday night and still thinking of trying that once again to see how maps behave this time. Regarding navbar, typing the 'how to do' is much longer than modding the apk

I add myself to the discussion because on the web you can't find anything. For KitKat were available some zip file to flash via custom recovery on rooted device compatible with the stock ROM, but for Lollipop anything yet! 40 dpi would be perfect
Hello! I have been wondering if there is someone out there who knows how to switch Navigation bars. The Back button and the Recent Apps button. I would like to swutch their positions. Can I do it with the Stock ROM without XPosed by just editing system files? I know there is a way to do it with Xposed modules but I would like to try it first without Xposed if possible. I am running the Stock ROM , rooted. Thank you.

I think it's doable. You need to decompile SystemUI find navigation bar change position of back with recent, then recompile, flash SystemUI. :
Good Luck!
