Camera broken - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I got my OnePlus one about a week ago and now the camera is broken (I have not dropped it and I have a case).
I can still access the camera but it will not focus and gives off greenish vertical lines.
I'm just putting this out here for others who might have the same issue.
I'm going to contact oneplus to see if they can fix it or send me a new one.
Might update this thread later on with news what oneplus says.

Fuze stuck pixel in camera mode only

Anyone else seen this before on a Touch Pro? I have one blue stuck pixel, but only when I have the camera going. I cleaned the lens just to make sure, its still there. Screen is fine otherwise.
I had the same issue with my first Fuze. I took it back to the AT&T store and exchanged it.
Its probably a bad sensor. I had a stuck green pixel on mine just while taking pictures too. I exchanged the phone as soon as i could.

[Q] Front Facing Camera dead spots/pixels?

So, I received it yesterday and am very happy with it. Can't wait for the dock which comes Friday.
Anyhow, I've noticed several small blue spots (pixel sized) in the front facing camera. It is not the display or rear facing just the front facing. The spots do also who in captured pictures.
Trying to decide if i should try to return it or if I can sit on it for a bit. Hopefully I can make a claim on it in a few weeks when they are actually possible to get your hands on without 3am notifications.
Anyone else with this issue?

My N5 camera now has a dark spot

So I jsut updated my google camera app yesterday and was eager to try any new features and test the camera, when all of a sudden I noticed that there is a dark blemish right in the middle of the screen. I am 100% sure it wasnt there when i bought it, as I did tested it extensively. At first I thought that it was actually a screen defect or that there is a smudge on the lenses.
It appears on every photo, HDR or not. It is best visible on light background. You can check the attached test photo i did.
I am not a huge photography fan, but it does bother me alot knowing that my brand new 2 months old nexus defected. Its rooted ofcourse, so there is no guarantee.
I read somewhere that this is caused by a dust particle inside the camera lenses.
So I just wanted to know whether someone else is suffering from that exact same issue. And if there is an easy way to cope with that problem, e.g. disassembling the lense or forcing air into it :silly:
So, yes, any opinions would be welcome.
Thanks guys
p.s. Also, if anyone else had experienced it, Im curious what case (if any) had they been using? lol I actually noticed the problem after removing and inserting my N5 back into my spigen neo hybrid a couple of times, which is actually quite a challenge. So Im wondering whether that hasnt something to do with it
I wouldn't advise you to open the device up yourself.. You will surely loose warranty if you mess up.
If you think it's a hardware issue then Flash the factory images from Google to return to stock
, reset the tamper flag, lock the bootloader and send it in..

Yep, I can confirm the same experience as you! Only appeared yesterday! I have the Rev11 Hardware.
A bit of googling did reveal others with the same issue...
I have tried a can of compressed air, tapping phone...No joy, it's still there...
I have also tried different camera apps to confirm. Interestingly it was post updating the google camera app too. (but i do not believe this too be the root cause, I've had many specs of dust in my DSLRs before and to appears to me to be dust on the rear of the lens or on the sensor!) I would expect these to be sealed on our phones!
RMA, warranty...are looming...any other ideas peeps?
Cheers

I tried the tapping trick too - did not work for me either
I'm still contemplating over the idea of reverting to stock, locking the bootloader and sending in my faulty unit. It would probably take a couple of weeks and I don't want to part ways with my N5 for so long. But living with that nasty blemish on my camera is equally frustrating
I'm going to try this.

I had this issue a few months back; the image you posted looks identical to the issue I had.
Google covered it under warranty and sent me a new device. They asked me to do a full factory reset to confirm it wasn't software related. The process was pretty smooth: if they do send you a new device, you just send your N5 back once it comes so you're not stuck without a phone for a while or anything. They do put a hold on your credit card for the price of the phone until they get your phone, though.
I had it rooted and everything prior to sending it in, but I unrooted/reset the tamper flag before sending it in (and did a factory reset obviously).
I have the same problem but with Nexus 5x. Not 100% sure was the dark spot in the middle at the beginning or not. Now the device is about a week old.

Buying a one plus tomorrow

I'm looking to buy a 1+ tomorrow as on Tuesdays they have open invites. I sold my g2 to put towards this but have a few short questions. I know there are threads and links on xda and Google but I see a 50/50 across the board. So far I read the 1+ is a great phone..fast, good software, good build ect. My question is on the yellow banding and touch issues. Since I'll be ordering tomorrow it has been a long time since these issues have been happening. Just curious if anyone that has received one lately had any problems even past the yellow and touch. I apologize and know there are threads on this but nothing that seems recent that talks about these issues. Thanks.
I bought mine in september and i have none problems! Not touch problem nor the yellow band!Anyway i dont think there are any problem with one+
No problems here. Had mine for 2 weeks. It's a good phone. No better or worse than my M8
Awesome. Just looking to make sure the 1+ is the right move. Can't wait to join the 1+ band wagon!!
The yellow band still exists, and I've gone through three OPO already (over a period of a year now, for me, my wife and brother).
The issue did get better though, it's not as noticeable anymore and most people wouldn't even see it if they didn't have a properly configured comparison screen next to their screen.
Overall it's still the best price value deal you can snatch so you can order without having any regrets.
I did buy one in Feb and I got the yellow band, nothing fixed it like keeping it in UV light etc. But surprisingly my previous one which I bought in late august did not have the yellow band. Also I did notice the yellowing is also present in the screenshots you take on the phone so I am assuming it is rather a software/driver bug than a hardware screen issue. If it was purely a hardware it wont be visible on a screenshot like if you had a cracked screen and you took a screen shot cracks don't show up in the screenshot. I was so bothered with the yellow band ended up selling it in a week on craigslist. The new buyer did not check it so all went well.
Another point wanted to mention Opo support was hard to deal with. Even though I opened a ticket and attached the files they gave some bull**** about changing the settings updating the OS when I was already on the latest official build. I replied and next time they asked me to send a video after which they send me a zip file to flash in recovery which did nothing but just wiped my phone.
At this point in time without even having Lollipop and random screen and battery issue and a confirmed poor camera on this phone I lost all interest and just bought a LG G3 and so far very happy with it.
Ugh. That sucks for both of you. That's what scares me. My g2 is in the mail and I'm on a g pro right now which is OK but battery is insanely horrible. I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy the 1 and hope for the best. Every review I see is mostly a praise on the phone so hopefully I get that.
My dad and I both got one recently. My dad about 2 weeks ago and mine just barely a week ago. No issues here as far as we can tell. Though I should point out ours are the China versions which originally had ColorOS instead of CM. But they all should come from the same factory anyway...

front camera just awful or device defect?

I just bought the S7, and I noticed that the front camera is just bad.
It looks like the focus is off. it's so bad that it's even worst than my old S4 front camera.
here are examples:
imgur.com/a/bUcq2
the S4 are the left ones, and S7 are the right ones. at the S4, you can see each individual hair (on the eyebrows or the beard), but at the S7 everything is just blurry.
is my device defective, or it's just how the front camera functions on the S7?
I have seen many people reporting this issue, so I really wonder if returning the device and getting another one will do any good.

It won't

well...
I just don't get how this issue doesn't get more buzz. I mean, other people don't notice, or just don't care enough of selfies?
Also, I'm pretty sure there won't be any software fix for that - 6 months have passed since release.
So basically I bought a costly flagship phone with only rear camera- cuz the front camera is simply embarrassing, I cant use it.
There is a thread here on xda about this problem, but no one came up with a solution. Some said that models made in Vietnam (such as mine) have a bigger focus issues than those made in Korea. The problem is that focus on the front cam is set to infinity, so it doesn't focus close objects correctly. Some people went to samsung and got 3-4 new devices and all were having the same issue.
I think that it COULD be fixed with an software update, because I found people talking about it on various forums. But until that happens (I hope), try holding it 30-40cm away and it will be decent. Turn off beauty face aswell.
