I used Nexus 5 about 9 month, and I often encounter random reboot issue. I used Android 4.4.2, 4.4.3, 4.4.4, and the latest Android 5.0, the issue is still often occurred. Most reboot reason was caused by wdog_bite, sometime it was due to kernel panic.
I only used stock rom, and my Nuxus 5 was never rooted. I ran the factory reset several times, but the issue was still occurred.
I also returned it to LG Taiwan twice (In Taiwan, we cannot buy Nexus 5 from Google Play). But LG Taiwan tested and verified my Nexus 5, and said there was no any hardware issue, so just only flash the Android OS again and return to me.
Now, I still got reboot issue several times in one day even if I didn't install any 3rd party apps.
I have no idea about this. I am also very confused. If this is software issue, there should be most people encounter this problem.
I doubt it maybe caused by faulty RAM, but I didn't find any tool or apps can do RAM read/write test or RAM stress test.
Does anyone know if there is tool or app can do the RAM read/write test? Or how should I do for my Nexus 5?
I also attached recent last_kmsg for reference.
that seems like your radio hardware or something conected to it is failing, try different modems, if still dosent work then rma my friend.
i had almost something like that back in my n4,everyday i would get an AP Watchdog crash causing kernel panic, i sent to lg and they said that it was the battery, not sending the correct voltage to the board, they exchanged it and it didnt give that problem anymore.
if they still dont exchange or dont repair your phone i (enphase on the I) would format all partitions on the phone, so it wont turn on anymore (haha i doubt this time they wouldnt exchange the board).

My wifes Moto G occaisionally crashes and reboots. It hasnt happened very often but I would like to know if it is happening to anyone else and if they know the cause? Maybe it's a bug that will be sorted with a future software upgrade?
The same is happening to me right now, I'm running 4.3. Sometimes it becomes very annoying; I already contacted Motorola through, they're supposed to call me later today...
I hope that KitKat solves this issue because I don't want to root yet.

Ah so it's not just us then. I hope that an update will cure it as I doubt that my wife would let me root her phone. Will be interesing to see what Motorola say.

Mine even reboots during the start-up animation, it has become so annoying. A shame since it is a great device
I'll report with the results later.

Same issue here. Got the device, (US GSM) on Dec. 14th, and had it happen a couple of times. I didn't think anything of it, because this phone is for my son, and I was trying out parental control stuff on it. I wrapped it, and it sat under the tree till the 25th, which is when I updated it to 4.4, and the crashing has gotten worse. I get random app crashes, and more reboots now than ever. I cleared the partition cache, which didn't work. I am going to try a factory wipe and see if that fixes it, but I honestly doubt it. Moto chat told me to call in the morning to talk to a level 2 tech.
So, there seem to be a few of us, but I didn't see anything on their support forums....

So far I've had a single instant reboot in the camera app. Hope it doesn't get worse.
The phone is still rebooting sometimes. Is there any way I can check why it is happening like something that will create an error log? Or does anyone have any tips for stopping it happening? It is a very minor nuisance at the moment but I'm afraid it might get worse. Especially if it is a problem with the hardware rather than the software.
I have a UK moto g and it hasn't rebooted on me yet the past week I have had it

I've got the International 8 GB version from Koodo and it hasn't rebooted since I started using it full time on Dec 28. It remains powered up 24/7.
Often these reboots and crashes are user app related, it may be a good idea to data factory reset the phone and see if the issue remains.
Undervolting the cpu may cause these issues too if you undervolt too much.
I have 120 apps installed and had no crash/reboot so far in the 3 weeks i had the phone.
I have same trouble. My device is crashing and rebooting sometimes at day. Is there any solution??
Moto g purchased in mexico, telcel.
Guys, return it to your phone dealer if you can. Waiting for a fix(that may or may not come) will just increase your pain. If the service center spots the restart, they should definitely repair/replace your phone.

Yes it could be but I think it's most likely Android OS or Motorola's own certain app that's causing this. My device resets so frequently that's it become impossible to use, unbelievably it reboots every 5-10min, even when I leave the phone on standby I see it rebooting it self.
It's no just specific app that I use, it has rebooted while I'm browsing (Google Chrome), in Gallery app, on Play Store and also when I was transferring images from pc to the device!
Motorola Chat support are useless, they just game me links to Moto UK Support contact, that's it. Not much of advice.
So I will be taking it back to Phone4u store and possibly get it replaced if they can.
Kit kat seems to have fixed problem.

My wifes phone seemed to be getting worse. It rebooted four times the day before yesterday. It always seemed to be worst when we were travelling.
Yesterday morning the Kit Kat update became available. The phone hasn't rebooted since. Hope I'm not speaking too soon but fingers crossed it seems to be fixed.
We got 2 Moto G's in our family (one for me, one for my father), both ordered from Amazon.de as 8gb version (XT1032)
I haven't seen any reboots on one of these devices. They both got updated to 4.4.2 yesterday and also no crashes.
Has anyone found out what is causing the crashes? Is it maybe even a hardware failure?

If the Kit kat upgrade has cured the problem on my wifes phone then it must have been software related. Possibly an app I had downloaded was causing it. It's worth pointing out as well that most people didn't seem to have this issue.
BTW I spoke to Motorola chat a few days ago using the help app. on the phone. They told me it was probably an app I had downloaded causing it and a factory reset would sort it. Installing the upgrade seems to have done the same thing though.
Happy to hear it's not something hardware related.
I even had reboots with my nexus 5, 4 on random basis (not often). Must be some sort of app I've had installed on all my devices
I received mine in december (from Amazon [Retail.FR]) and experienced some crashes (almost every day).
I installed KitKat on it and did two factor resets to be sure it was not software related issues. Since then, a week ago, I experienced a crash every day and half (screenshot). Crash happened without any reason or specific context.
My serial number is: TA8900B6##
I decided to return my Moto G to Amazon and buy a new one.
I'm experiencing the same and I decided to try to run a constant logcat in the background to see what's going on. Also is there any way to have a constant recording with dmesg? I'm no linux commands expert.
For logcat (in terminal emulator) I used logcat > sdcard/logcat.txt which is growing in size as far as I can see. Hopefully this brings some news.
Good luck everyone.
Cheers
Nexus 5 all of sudden stopped working?!
I also experienced it. The damage in wifi module but I did claim the warranty. have you explain what happened to customer service?
Just to offer my input into how I resolved the "Turning Wi-Fi on" message on my Galaxy S4. It seems I had misconfigured the Profiles, so I reset them (Settings>Profiles>Reset), restarted the phone (hard reset) and voila.
There are probably many different causes, but hopefully my method helps someone.
Adding my two cents
"I am having issues with my wifi not even turning on at all on my Nexus 5. It all started after I got a regular 5.0 OTA update. It didn't happen immediately but soon after the update my wifi quit working and I would have to reboot to get it to work. Me working in tech support and having experience with android I tried everything I knew how to do. I started with wiping cache and that didn't make a difference. Then I did a factory reset and that didn't help either. Then I flashed the factory 5.0 image and that still didn't work. Then I tried downgrading to 4.4.4 and flashed that factory image and the issue still persist. Then I put 5.0 back on and just lived with it. Then 5.0.1 came out so I flashed that and still the same issue. I did it this time as a brand new device and wiped everything and just flashed the image and it didn't even try to work. I think it may be a hardware issue but I never had an issue before the 5.0 OTA update."
This is the info I contacted google nexus support with and he didn't have me try anything because he said I already did basically everything. I am OUT of warranty and my only help would be repair through LG which I would rather not do. Anyone else have any ideas on how to fix it or is it a hardware issue?

Hey guys!
I have posted before but since then the issue has exacerbated to the point where I'm at my wit's end.
I have the SM-P907A AT&T version of this tablet. I bought it second hand and started experiencing issues almost immediately, although nothing as bad as what I'm going through now.
It began with the odd blue-screen and very rare restart. It quickly escalated when I created multiple profiles (user ids). The restarts would happen entirely randomly but without fail within 10 minutes of operation no matter what I did. Oddly enough, it would NEVER restart when connected to a power supply, though I have drawn very little from that.
Thusly, I factory reset my tablet and hoped that would fix the issue; to no avail. Then I decided to Odin flash the stock ROM. Again no joy. Restarts were persistent and regular when the tablet wasn't connected to a power supply. I then rooted the tablet, installed Titanium Backup Pro and proceeded to freeze all apps/odex-es related to Samsung Knox. As some have posted, doing this helped them out. Not lucky enough, I guess.
My questions:
Did my setting up multiple users somehow mess with the tablet in such a deep and integrated way that even factory resetting, re-flashing stock would not help? Is that even possible? My firmware version is P907AUCU1AND7. I'm going to manually update to Lollipop but if my meddling with the multiple users "broke" something essential, will that help?
No, proppably not

I don't think that using the multi user functionality has anything to do with the issues you are experiencing. I have 3 user on my tablet and using it for a year now. Both on KitKat and Lollipop that I am using now. Both rooted, KitKat with Xposed also. Never had issues with blue screens and reboots.
Issues with US devices have been posted regularly and explanations have been posted. Don't focus on multiuser for the issues you experience.
I' am using the SM-P905 International version (EUR)
PDA: P905XXUABOG1
CSC: P905EURABOG1
Ridiculous
Okay guys. Seriously ridiculous. I downloaded the lollipop ROM but got an error when adb sideloading it because it requires the previous firmware P907AUCU1ANK2 for it to update properly whereas I have the one older than that: P907AUCU1AND7.
Can someone help a brotha out? Post a link from where I can download it?! Maybe share their stock rom file?! Pretty please? I've managed to find only TWO results on google. One is a mobilefileserver result requiring that I Pay $60. The other is a Chinese site requiring that I pay significantly less but in a way which is baffling me at the moment.
Any good guy out there who can help??????

Random restart is the problem of cracked battery connector. Re solder the battery connector will fix it permanently.
Read the thread " Flickering Screen " in Galaxy Note or Tab Pro, you will see they all have similar problem like yours and the fix is simple.
No software or upgrade will fix the hardware problem, regardless Kitkat or Lollipop.
Got my 32gb unlocked A9 a few days ago. Wondering, without modifying anything (unlocking bootloader, custom recovery, rooting, ect) is it possible to run this phone without encryption? My 3rd Gen Moto G feels faster than this. I find the general lag, and sometimes even freezing, a nuisance (especially during read/write), and have no need for the encryption. Is there an option somewhere to disable it? Maybe some different steps during factory setup (i.e. opting out of pin/fingerprint)? I'd like to have the phone decrypted, but would still like to use the fingerprint to wake/unlock the phone.
My phone is on the latest firmware, and I've already tried a factory reset, this is why I'm assuming the performance hit is the encryption.
Example of one of the stutters I notice is going between the home screen and the recents screen. Anyone else get this? Maybe something got screwy during the 20 (/s) firmware updates when I got it?
Edit: Also thought I'd mention that I'm also getting random reboots.

AFAIK it is not possible without TWRP. I have reflashed the whole system and tried if it stays decrypted without setting up fingerprint, but it does not.
I have had some lags as you described, it got better with usage, there are some micro lags, but I got used to it. It is smooth in general. I have also had one reboot in the first few days, but not ever since. Give it a little time.

I downloaded the 1.7gb file from HTC and used that to reflash(?) the phone. I can tell some things are different in the UI than when it went through the chain of updates, and seems faster too. Might be placebo. I'm still waiting to see if I get a reboot. Reboots were happening about every 12 hrs.

Yeah, I did the same too. I felt the phone became more laggy, after updating OTA, so I thought reinstalling the latest firmware might be the best idea. I'm not saying it is perfect, as it is not, multitasking can be really sh*tty sometimes (I have the 2Gb version though), but it is usable, and generally fast and smooth.
OK, so I have now been playing around with things for about 3 years. I have experienced something recently that I never saw before. I had a Tmobile Note 4 (SM-N910T3) variant for almost two years. The entire time I had it rooted. I downloaded Kodi, and two days later things started acting crazy. I would open an app, the phone would go into the app, and then restart. So I went in and re-flashed the original firmware. I rooted once more, and the same thing, restarts out of no where, or gets stuck in black screen for a while., or just gets stuck and eventually restarts. So I tried a custom firmware, same thing. So I thought, maybe it was something to do with the root I was using. So I re-flashed the stock firmware, and this time, I did not root the phone. It was still happening. Also, when I go to flash stock firmware, or any firmware, or reset the phone, it takes forever. I tested it against another exact same variant, and it took 8 times as long. The only thing I could think of was that when I DL Kodi, I burnt either some of the on board memory, or the cache. Has anyone ever heard of this, or is there something I could do to find the problem? Thanks as always.
OK I guess no one knows
Did you upgrade from kitkat to Lolipop or Marshmallow?
Maybe your emmc got corrupted.

If different os software produces similar results, that points to a hardware problem IMO.
