For the ASUS MeMoPad 8 (K015) ME581CL I was able to root it successfully on the 4.4.2-based firmware by using the RootZenPhone 1.4.6.8r
[23pin.logdown. com/posts/230216-root-rootzenfone-14r
I had a pretty sweet rooted 4.4.2 setup on the ME581CL (K015) until I mistakenly decided to try for Lollipop
After updating to the latest firmware (Lollipop 5.0.1) I lost root, subsequent tries to root the device did not work, so I hope that someone can help
develop another method., ASUS link here: asus.com/Tablets/ASUS_MeMO_Pad_8_ME581CL/HelpDesk_Download
Note: I actually got stuck in the welcome/setup screen and had to boot into recovery and use "fastboot -w" to wipe data cache and partition
so that it wasn't bricked.

Note: there is some progress in getting downgrade working here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/root-downgrade-asus-me581cl-t3075678
I have not tested this method however. I am somewhat content with stock 5.0.1 for now and a decent non-root firewall
to block the ASUS crapware that ships with the factory Android, though I'd much prefer to have downgraded and had my root back on 4.4.2

Can you explain what you mean about this/how you accomplished it?
I've got the ME581CL with the 5.0 OS from ASUS. Sure like to be able to get rid of some of the junk they've placed on this tablet.

It doesn't let you get rid of everything, but you can install "No Root Firewall" and block everything by default - it uses a loopback device to bind all your traffic through it so you don't need root to block/allow traffic from apps.
To update to 5.0.1 I copied the firmware here: https://www.asus.com/Tablets/ASUS_MeMO_Pad_8_ME581CL/HelpDesk_Download/ into the root directory of the tablet and restarted it, that picked it up and applied it.

stuck on firmware cant update or root

Hi 2days ago I tried to root my device by looking at the info from the website
http://eeepadhacks.net/transformer-hacks/how-to-root-eeepad-transformer-honeycomb-3-2/
They give you a zip with firmware and adb to make it easier to root
I did the steps there and some things did not work
Right now I have an old firmware and it won't let me update to the regular real firmware
It keeps on saying I'm on the latest firmware
I tried nachoroot which wouldnt show I'd of 0 after 5 times trying the process from the begining
I tried unrooting by suggestions from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093403
But it didn't help I also wiped all the data and it didn't help
Firmware htk75.us_epad-8.6.5.21

Android version is 3.2.1
Any help is very much appreciated I understand a new android version should be available soon I hope this will still let me upgrade android although I can't seem to update firmware
Isn't 8.6.5.21 the latest firmware?
Its possible I am just confused for some reason I thought that there is a 9. Something firmware when I just got the device I updated the firmware I thought I got it to a 9
something. wow this is emberrassing
So what I have is definitely the new firmware? Hmm then why can't I root?
my SN begins with BC and ends with 89
Is it rootable? I only saw ppl talking about other serial numbers like B80 etc...
Your tablet should be rootable but not with the method you linked above.
Try NachoRoot again or ViperMod which use NachoRoot but it does all the steps for you.
Another option is down grade to 8.6.6.19 and use RazorClaw.
thank you very much I will try with vipermod have a nice day

[Q] Acer Iconia A1-810 Downgrade?

I recently updated to 4.4 Kitkat on my Acer tablet. I've been wanting to root my tablet for a long time but never found a tutorial. Well, just as my luck would have it, after I update to 4.4 I find this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240029
I read a reply in that thread stating that the Acer Toolkit doesn't work with 4.4 because Acer patched it or something. So I was wondering if there is any way I can downgrade my tablet or even root 4.4?

HI
You can't downgrade, since the update also bring an new bootloader, so flashing an system.img of your older Ro (JB4.2) wont work.
Also since your bootloader is LOCKED, there's nothing you can do right now , sorry.
With an MTK UNlocked bootloader, that would be possible...
Regards
Still not possible?
Hi,
I just found this thread whilst searching for instructions on rooting my A1-810 and I was wondering is it still not possible if the kitkat update has been applied?
I just flashed my A1-810 from JB (4.2 I believe) to the latest KitKat version available on Acer's support website (Acer.AV0K0.A1-810.RV0BRC05.PA.CA, just released on 11/06/14) and now my unit is stuck in a boot loop.
I've tried wiping cache/factory reset, and reflashing the same update to no avail. Downgrading to any previous version is not possible (due to bootloader update from KitKat update I presume) and all I get is a assert failed: getprop("ro.product.name") == "a1-810_pa_ca" error when trying to do so).
I hadn't realized just how recent this update was (seeing as they just posted it last week) and am assuming it is due to an issue with the update itself (and Acer's shotty programming).
Anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to fix this issue? Sad that a year old tablet is now a paper weight due to a SOFTWARE UPDATE FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
Update: Fixed it!!
After speaking with Acer support, trying to re-flash their image multiple times, and having them tell me that my year old tablet (with warranty ending this past July) would cost $110 to fix (due to THEIR software update), and after being advised NOT TO by their support team, I decided to try and flash the unit myself with a different bootloader.
I basically followed the guide at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...3&postcount=53
and downloaded the A1-810 files and Drivers package from there as well.
Then my unit managed to get past the reboot loop and boot into KK successfully!
CWM didn`t actually install, but there is a note at the bottom of the link regarding that, but I`m not going to bother for now as I am more than happy to have a working tablet again!
Hope this helps anyone else!

[6039y] Help needed for 6.0 upgrade - Rooted device

Hello guys,
I used this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/development/6039y-guide-repartitioning-internal-t3176061/post62270281#post62270281 to expand the internal storage of my 4.7 inch Idol 3, and now my phone is rooted.
As a result when I check for update I receive a message - It has been detected that your device has ROOT access - Upgrade is disabled.
In the Menu I have the option to choose System updates (Storage) but I need to have the ROM downloaded first.
If anyone could guide me through the upgrade process will be much appreciated.
Thanks

You have to do a complete unroot to receive updates.
I don't think the 4.7 idol 3 has received MM yet, correct me if im wrong.
4.7 did receive mm according to Alcatel, just unlocked version. I don't know what model number that is.

Please edit your title (you may have to go to advanced editing) to have [6039] at the beginning. This will ensure the folks trying to help know about your specific device as the methods for 6045 idol3's are totally different.
Not yet. I'm waiting for some guide to appear. If I manage to upgrade I'll post the steps here
You could use Mobile Upgrade Q to upgrade phone. It won't matter that you are rooted. But it will wipe everything. This may upgrade it to MM or may revert it to a clean version of 5.0.2
After that you may need to follow @petrov.0 's guide to restore fastboot commands and then you can follow his other guide to repartition again to 16GB internal.
Hello.
Can this be solved with the xposed modules that hide root? Like RootCloak, XPrivacy, ANRC or Suhide?
Thanks.
Why you not use TWRP for Upgrade to MM?
There are two versions from decker.su. Version one is a MM Backup to restore in TWRP (you dont lose fastboot) and Version two is a flashable zip(lose fastboot, but you can restore fastboot in same way as LP)

Help, need help rooting ZTE Grand x view 2

Hello all,
I got a ZTE Grand X view 2 (K81) tablet from virgin Mobile in Toronto, Canada and I have the sim locked to my imei number. I would like to root this tablet so I can remove unnecessary applications. It is slow as it has <1gb and the internal memory is 8gb. So far the one click root apps I have tried (kingroot, iroot) don't work. What are other options I have for this device?
It is running Android 7.1.1 with the June 1, 2017 security patches
Thanks Karl

Have you had any luck finding firmware for this device.... i need to frp bypass mine as i bought it online and am left in a predicament now... The keyboard doesn't allow to access any settings so getting through the FRP part is an issue... no way to downgrade the firmware either because it is running 7.1 . Not yet, I switched my SD card back to portable and tried to look around the system using adb shell without any luck. The system is locked down tight and I don't have permission to view most directories. I also contacted ZTE for the recovery img, they thought I was talking about backing up photos
I have same tablet from virgin mobile Canada. I have solid explorer, and it allows me to have root file access out of the box. I deleted bloat apks, was gtg. Not sure if it's normal behavior. I was shocked to see root file system out of the box. P.S any developers that a full system dump would help, I can probably do. After more poking around, I don't have full root access, but I do have read/write to system folder with build.prop etc

I just downloaded and installed solid explorer and the classic versions. Not luck viewing the / file system. If you can get the boot file and post a link to it that would be helpful for the magisk rooting method.
-I was able to use a google account manager app and downloaded/installed qucik_shortcut_2.4.0 this allows you access the launcher and partially use this device... I was able to set the username of the device but to no avail i am unable to use that combo to strip out the previous user's information. there's a method online to show you how to use the talkback settings to get to this point and i used my knowledge of frp bypassing samsung devices to get a little further. the developer options setting is still locked because it doesn't recognize me as the primary user. Its very frustrating. I'm able to sign into chrome with my credentials and access gmail through the browser but as far as getting my account onto this device its been days of trying and my girlfriend is just disgusted with my persistence. I don't know if or when an oreo update will be made available that this will help solve the problem, but i can't believe zte doesn't have the stock firmware anywhere online.
any of you fellow nerds out there that can help please do... I use an S3 for my daily use because well, they're so amazing to customize but the battery is crap because its so old. One thing i have found is with this zte you can at least play the "catch the cat" easter egg game, which is a complete waste of time but fun at the same time.
I'm not sure if this will help but i might as well. I'm also stuck with a zteK81 i'd REALLY love to root. I never had to go really deep into android stuff so tbh ... i've read alot ... but beside knowing i can't root it yet after a couple diff. method... im a bit confuse in all that. Up here i read ppls about looking for the Firmwire and someone else searching for the root. I have pull some pretty deep layer files in mine that may .. may not help you guys. I can't read that correctly. Here's 3 images and i have a little 7z with the actual files and 3-4 more if someone request it. Thanks.

Continued Interest
Is there any interest in rooting the ZTE K81?
Currently, I have a copy of the stock ROM and am trying to modify update.zip using Magisk to mod the boot.img file. I heed help with the signing of the modified update.zip package.
Any Suggestions?

Difficulties
To date I have found no way to even perform the OEM Unlock on this device and none of the available rooting schemas are of any use.
If I cannot determine how the sing the modified update.zip file, I am out of ideas.
I have a copy of the ZTE stock rom for the K81 and, if there is a more experienced person willing to take a shot at this, I will happily make the rom available to them.

Hello, so it is common that ZTE's don't have any form of fastboot. So your only way is to flash via QPST with a firehose. But today is your lucky day. I was able to extract the k81's firehose from the Rogers ZTE firmware flashing tool. I have also downloaded the full QPST firmware fire and included the firehose with it. As well as a separate download in case someone already has it. I will also be ordering the device shortly. If you have newer firmware, or one designed for a variant other the rogers would be great if you can share it.

Where do you get or how do you create the rawprogram0.xml file. Presumably the directory structure information is available somewhere in the kernel or the ROM but, methods to extract the information into an XML evade me.

New device : Gome K1

Hi,
I am a little new and don't really know about this subject but :
I purchased a new phone : a Gome K1.
This is not tablet but phone. This is a new brandt. This a MTK (MT6757).
For the story, it came to me with chinese ROM, all menus in chinese
I asked to the seller to give me a ROM with playstore and french. They done it.
I flashed their new ROM with a proprietary flash tool. Now I have a android 6 ROM with Playstore, french menus. Well !
But I'd like to know if there is a way to root it, and install a TWRP :
The ROM came with bootloader locked and no recovery. It is entirely blocked.
No way to unlock bootloader via the general way (fastboot oem unlock --> unknown command)
I read some articles that deal with spflashtool and porting TWRP, but I'm new to this and I don't think I will be able to make all these steps correctly to flash a TWRP ...
Does someone has an idea ?
Is my post on the good topic ?
Up, does someone have an idea of how to root it ?
Hello,i also have a Gome K1 phone and I am also interested at rooting it.
There is an ' OEM unlocking option' under the developers option in the settings, have you tried that yet?
If you managed to import twrp and rooted the phone can you pls send here the steps, Thanks
Hello, happy to not be alone with this phone ...
Yes I tried everything, after enabling unknown source, OEM unlocking and USB Debugging developer options :
- All root apks
- all existing root kits using ADB
- Method with a linux distro to access Phone filesystem as root ( cannot see my phone ... )
Now I'm trying to use SP flashtool last version, but even that cannot correctly access the phone to Readback my recovery : there is BROM error, so I think that phone is not compatible with the phone (seen on a forum ...)
So if someone has an idea, he is welcome

When I contacted them, they send me a non rooted custom ROM which embed Google Apps and All language, AND another flash tool.
This flash tool seems to be based on SP flash tool. It seems to have restrictions (no readback ability ...).
I'm not able to backup anything with this tool or with SP flash tool.
Whis spflashtool, when clicking ReadBack, I power off my phone, and plug USB cable.
It begins the process but I immediatly encounter a BROM error :
ERROR: status_brom_cmd_send_da_fail (0xC0060003)
I read a post which indicate to try to plug usb cable when pressing Power plus Volume Up, but I don't think it can work, because I know that their tool works without that operation.
So now I'm still stuck here. Does someone have an idea ?
Hi
On the Russian forum 4pda, the topic GOME K1 we are also discussing and trying to solve the problem of a locked bootloader. So far no results. ROOT is also not yet possible to get.
I've also ported twrp for GOME K1, but there's no point in installing it until the bootloader is unlocked. Otherwise we will get a brick.
Hi
In Developer options there is a setting to unlock bootloader, it's the third toggle down.
Hope this helps.

No, it's not working. This switch does not affect the boot loader state.

Hello vsxby,
I was successful in flashing custom ROM that vendor uploaded for me.
So I thing I can flash just the recovery with their tool. I'm not an expert, so I'm just a little affraid to follow a guide to port a TRWP for Gome K1 and try to flash it, since it can brick the phone.
If you want, I can't send you a copy of their tool they sent to me (SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject.exe) ...

Thank you, but I already have this tool. As I wrote before flashing TWRP we need to unlock the bootloader. While this is not impossible to do. But one of our users on 4pda is going to ask the manufacturer to unlock bootloader. In case of success, I will inform you.
If you want to experiment and flash TWRP with a locked bootloader, I can give you the TWRP I made, but I warn you, it's not safe.
Bro,Can you upload the firmware and tools to google drive or something like? It will be very helpful for dealing with this mediatek replica phone(aus6757_66_m),i got some possible factory test MTK AOSP,but the link expires :(

We were unable to contact the manufacturer and the moderators of the official GOME forum do not have this information. At the moment, there are no solutions to this issue.

could you please post here what is the procedure you took to flash the rom. Seller sent me with multi language rom. i want to downgrade the rom to its original one. I used your tools in the windows 10 lap. and also in the windows 7 lap but it was useless. I am going to try the procedure in the windows 8.1 lap. can you tell me exactly how you flash your phone with that tool ?
