Hi all,
After seeing that samsung as dropped the support for the galaxy S3 after releasing 4.4.2 almost 7 freaking months after it's release and about 3 months after 4.4.4 release, I'm clearly done with samsung and their crap device support. I decided to get myself a nexus 5 but it seems that they've been out of stock for a while now on the play store. Carriers here in canada sell them 500$+tx and I don't like to get scammed.
Do you guys know if it'll be back in stock eventually? Should I buy it on kijiji/craigslist? I just don't like these type of sites because of the warranty.
Thanks!
Try Amazon
Try swappa. Some good deals on there.

I read somewhere saying that Samsung is rolling out Lollipop to all LTE models in the USA. My question is, will this update roll out work like it does for phones....meaning will this update have to go to the carrier first and then to the users? I hate to lose root, but I'm really hoping the update will improve performance. I bought the note pro the day it hit the stores and I am in bad need of better performance.
Please chime in on what you know about this update.
Thanks in advance.

I guess I'm the only one who has an AT&T LTE version of the note pro. I guess the MOD can go ahead and remove this post being that it appears to be a space waster.
Thanks
You're not the only one with the device. Other than iPhones, I believe AT&T always gets the updates from the manufacturers and then adds their bloat before releasing via OTA.
I've got one and have been waiting too, don't know what's going to happen to root. Adding more apps into multi screen is really all i need root for anymore. I used to use it for controllers for games, but haven't used that in awhile.
It sucks being an AT&T kid huh? boooo, we get no love, lol Damn you AT&T!!!!!!
AT&T fail - January 2016 and still no update
If AT&T can't update in a timely manor, they need to stop selling devices.
I'm never buying from AT&T again.
Once Google fiber rolls to Atlanta, I'll be 100% free from the clutches of AT&T.
If they are not selling to you, they are selling you.
I bet the NSA is AT&Ts only repeat customer.
AT&T pushed the Lollipop update quite awhile ago.
Hey guys, I'm about to take a lil vacation in Berlin next week and I would like to replace my old Nexus 4 with a new Galaxy S6.
There is a great deal from Samsung Germany till Oct 3 which I can purchase Galaxy S6 for only 400 EUR without taxes (cause I'm not a Germany citizen)
I will probably purchase from a Saturn store.
Is there anything I need to know? Is the phone locked or something like that?
I heard that I need to make a 5 minutes phone call inside Europe to unlock the phone or something like that?
Hello, so as an AOSP lover and on verizon, this phone could be a good option about me. When I bought my S3 years back, I only used AOSP roms. Eventually, I got a note 4 in hopes of it getting root. Well... Obviously didn't go well, so I'm rolling on my S3 again. Would it be worth it to sell my Note 4 and buy this phone? It has better specs than an S3. So a few questions...
How does the development compare? I see we have some CM13 builds w/ probably some official builds soon. Does it have exceptional development?
What is the process of rooting like? From my understanding, you unlock the bootloader similar to a nexus device and then flash SU in TWRP, yes? So it won't matter what android version it's running @ the time?
How exactly do unlocked phones work? I've only used two year contracts in the past, I don't understand the whole concept of unlocked phones, to be honest.
Will the bootloader be able to be unlocked if I use verizon? I planned to buy the phone straight from moto so it is unlocked, but my friend's OG Moto G isn't able to be unlocked even though he bought it from Amazon (He is on verizon).
Thanks, XDA.
So a couple years back on Black Friday I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 from Cricket Wireless at a price of $200 and at first I felt like I got a great deal. I thought I was going to get the AT&T branded S4 (i337), but instead I got an obscure Cricket branded S4 (i337z). I was frustrated when the AT&T version received the update to lollipop but mine didn't. I'm looking to buy a new phone and have been doing a little research into it, but I still have a few questions.
1. Are unlocked cell phones more likely to get an android OS update than a carrier branded phone? Do they get them faster?
2. If I bought an unlocked Samsung or a Google Nexus, would I be able to update the OS without a Carrier OTA?
3. I've heard that Samsung & Google are now offering monthly security updates, do they rely on the carrier to push these updates or does it update directly from Samsung/Google? Will I still receive these security updates on a prepaid carrier like Cricket?
4. Are carrier branded phones even worth considering in your opinion?
Thank you for your time, and sorry for the newb questions.
Anyone have anything at all to add to this thread?
so we currently are on verizon. our signal is weak at home and heard at&t services our area well.. so im realy cinsidering the switch.. it sucks going outside to make phone calls..
what at&t devices have development going on?? root, backup.. you know..
we switched to verizon a year ago from tmobile. i got a htc dsire 626 that had no dev whatsoever.. going from a rom junkie to no means at all was crazy.. i hate phones with buttons but in this case it seems if i have to do it, i have to do it..
I know the feeling. I thought the Galaxy S4 would be a "nice cheap upgrade" from the Captivate (Galaxy S, AT&T branded ofc) which spoiled me to no end. I'd love to find something as open as that.
Right now, I'm looking at just outright outta-contract buying an unlocked phone and just doing the legwork to make sure it works with AT&T antenna wise.
Of course everyone's needs and wants are different but amongst my group the winners seem to be OnePlus Three, LG G4/5, for those who are flash-happy.
