Question: Can I run the Factory Data Reset without causing undo harm to the phone? The last thing I need is a brick. I'd like to get back to Factory defaults, I don't care if I lose root or anything, I can re-root. I'm just having problems with Mobile AP and I want to go back to bone stock and try again.
Anyone done this before after root and OCLF?
Hmmm....guess I'm on my own for this one...
Undo the Ryan ZA lagfix, then restore to defaults. Might ask for a passcode.
You probably wont lose root but if you do, hey its one click away

I got fission 2.2.2 and I love it but I want to wipe my phone completely back to stock for this update then re-root and reinstall fission, I am trying to clean up all the crap files on my sd card too so i have extra memory. anyone know how this is possible. i tried to get my font back to stock but factory reset didnt do it.
Use an SBF.
I got the smart idea (though now I say it was stupid) to put a custom rom on my phone. Found one I like, or so I thought... I like parts of it but hate other parts of it and now I want something new.
I have done a factory reset and wiped everything REPEATEDLY yet this darn rom is still stuck on here!!!! How do I get rid of it???? :'(
A factory reset, resets it to the factory settings of the current ROM.
Factory resets don't change ROMS.
You will have to find a file with your old ROM and flash it back.
So I need to return my Galaxy S3 back to Verizon because the headphone jack broke and thinks that headphones are constantly connected. My problem is I just don't want Verizon to know I've been installing Roms etc. Do you think I can get away with just restoring my phone back to my Stock Rooted backup and deleting superuser or should I go all the way back and ODIN to stock completely?
Odin back to stock and wipe/data factory reset from stock recovery...only takes 10min and could save you hundreds on car insurance!

I tried that and fail on loading the “stock.vzw_root66.tar” file. I cannot get any further.
OK post your problems on the new emergency thread and we will help you. No need to hijack someone's thread with your problem. As for the op's dilemma like droidstyle said odin to a stock ROM not the root66 stock ROM since you are returning your phone so no traces of rooting are found.
I have applied the full no-wipe 4.4.2 factory stock image to my phone, and then used towel root to root it. I see that I need to do a factory reset at this point. There are two ways to do that, and I want to avoid losing root or bootloops, etc. So my question is should I do this in the stock recovery mode, or from the settings menu, from the factory reset there, to cause least damage?
Thanks.
Edit: Never mind, I did it with the "factory reset" in settings, and root is fine. SuperSU was able to disable KNOX, so still rooted, but back to square zero with apps. Lots to do, see you later *smile*.
