Rooted via OneClick & RyanZA OCLF installed.
Question: Can I run the Factory Data Reset without causing undo harm to the phone? The last thing I need is a brick. I'd like to get back to Factory defaults, I don't care if I lose root or anything, I can re-root. I'm just having problems with Mobile AP and I want to go back to bone stock and try again.
Anyone done this before after root and OCLF?

Undo the Ryan ZA lagfix, then restore to defaults. Might ask for a passcode.
You probably wont lose root but if you do, hey its one click away

sorry if this is asked before but can i do a factory reset in the settings if i have root? or would i have to unroot before doing the factory reset. is there a easier method to wipe all data?
I want to know the answer too. If you only did a pure root, what happens when you do a security wipe? Will it retain the root, or will it resets Tf back to factory (unrooted)?

My transformer is a bit cluttered and takes ages to boot, so I would like to factory reset.
I have searched for ages on the net, but I can't find a definitive answer.
My transformer did the latest OTA uk.

guys root is contained in the system partition which is not touched. in factory reset data is touched.
if you use the new root method nachoroot then you may need to reinstall superuser from market.

I can tell you that if you boot in to hBoot and do a factory reset you will not lose SU access. I'd done it my self. I made the mistake of trying to do the factory OTA on a device with CWRI. So i just wiped it and reboot like a "new" unit and still had SuperUser.
did you only root your device and keep it completely stock?
Or did you install Clockwork Mod Recovery as well?
My personal opinion is that if you root you should install a custom recovery especially with how easy it is on the transformer. This has many benefits, with few if any bad consequences, i suppose it will require extra steps to go back to stock, but unless you need to send it in to be repaired under warranty theres not much reason to go back to stock(This is my opinion Only)
By installing a custom recovery you gain the ability to do a full backup anexact copy of the system and everything on it if you did that originally you would be able to go back to that point eliinating all the built up garbage. but you also gain the ability to do a full wipe and restore stock or custom firmware from scratch
Again my personal preference is a custom recovery and a custom firmware mine runs at least 10 times faster and more reliable than it was when i first got it. Just in the last 3 days i did a cmplete wipe myself as i was noticing alot of built up stuff and reloaded everything esily and am very satisfied.

One drawback (on stock rom) is that automatic OTA updates from Asus will fail. But there is an alternative to apply the OTA update.
If your rooted you really should have cwm recovery installed. If you have cwm recovery why not just boot into recovery and do a factory data reset

If I go into settings and select to reset data I need to know two things.
Will I:
1) Loose root?
2) Still be running version 2.3.3 since I am just doing a factory reset?
3) Provided to above are fine, the whole reason I doing this is because I some how lost the Accounts and Sync option from settings, will that be there upon return?
On the other hand, does anyone know how I can add back Accounts and Sync? Or where it may be hiding. I tried using Titanium to restore that App but it did nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did you reboot after, and try restoring other apps
the preinstalled apps are sometimes connected to each other, remove one, and another stops working correctly

First, thanks to everyone that contributes to these forums... I've been reading them for a while and didn't need to sign up until now.
I hope my question isn't too noob-ish, but i've looked through the other threads and haven't found a clear answer.
My phone:
Verizon SCH-I535
Android 4.1.2
Baseband and Build: VRBMF1
I'm looking to use the casual 1-click to root. I have no immediate intention to install a custom ROM, but i may down the road. Mostly i need the hot-spot access and I titanium backup access..
The questions are: if I run the 1-click root now, and decide i need to factory reset the phone later...
1) will factory reset be an issue b/c the phone is rooted
2) if not, will the factory reset cause me to lose root
And also
3) Would I run into a problem if I used titanium to restore apps from from my Thunderbolt? it would only be things i really needed to transfer like Google Authenticator and Verisign VIP... and then if that worked, maybe some games like super stickman golf 2. Nothing pre-installed or stuff that can easily be re-configured...

When you go to factory reset the phone, make sure you do it in recovery and not from the phone's menu settings.

Just make sure you use recovery like the post above says to factory reset (hold power/home/volume up at the same time)
My Maxx is rooted on 4.4, I am going to get rid of the phone and want to wipe the phone via Settings > Backup and Reset > Factory data reset.
This may be a dumb question, but I thought I read somewhere with our unique root method, doing this will cause the phone to loose root without the ability to get it back without unlocking the bootloader.
Does anyone have experience with this? I am preparing to sell this phone and want to make sure I get rid of all the data before I do.

You will not lose root if you wipe data. Even if it deleted your supersu app all you'd need to do is download it from the play store.
I have applied the full no-wipe 4.4.2 factory stock image to my phone, and then used towel root to root it. I see that I need to do a factory reset at this point. There are two ways to do that, and I want to avoid losing root or bootloops, etc. So my question is should I do this in the stock recovery mode, or from the settings menu, from the factory reset there, to cause least damage?

Edit: Never mind, I did it with the "factory reset" in settings, and root is fine. SuperSU was able to disable KNOX, so still rooted, but back to square zero with apps. Lots to do, see you later *smile*.
