I can’t believe I’m the only person who experienced this issue, but, prior to Lollipop, every time I tethered Windows 7 would spend a minute or more trying to detect/configure the Wi-Fi connection before I could get on the Internet. Now, since upgrading to Lollipop, this setup/detect/configuration process is fast/takes as much time as any other Wi-Fi connection. Life is good!
So, has anyone else experienced this issue prior to Lollipop and has it been resolved for them in Lollipop?
Cheers.

After updating to 4.4.4, I've been experiencing horrible wifi problems. The wifi seems to remain connected according to the settings, however, after a short interval the Nexus loses connectivity on all apps. LTE works fine, and switching airplane mode on then off temporarily fixes the issue for a very short period (usually just long enough to load a couple of websites). This problem exists on all wifi networks, and no other device on my home connection has this issue.
Things I've tried:
-Booted into safe mode. Same problem there.
-Forgotten and rejoined network
-Rebooted multiple times
Some notes:
-I'm currently running the ART runtime, however, this issue seems to remain the same on Dalvik.
-My Nexus is brand new and I didn't use 4.4.3 so I have nothing to compare it to in that sense.
This issue is incredibly annoying and makes the device nearly unusable in most scenarios. I'd greatly appreciate any input or suggestions toward fixing this as I'm completely stumped so far.
Nexus 5
Stock ROM 5.0.1

Ever since I upgraded my phone to Lollipop, I started having problems with the Wi-Fi. The problem starts every time I reboot the phone or enter airplane mode, the Wi-Fi takes about 5 to 10 minutes to establish itself. If I try to enter it tells me it isn't responding. And when finally "giving up" to multiple requests the Settings Apps fails and then I can finally connect to any network. This problem started on Lollipop 5.0... then I had to flash 5.0.1 with hopes that It'll be addressed but it hasn't, and since I don't see thread about it, hope you guys can shed a light. There's another issue that it doesn't remember any new Wi-Fi entered, but I can live with that... but it's aggravating to wait so much time until I can connect to any Wi-Fi after a reboot.
I recently started using CM12 nightlies, and since installing my first one my WiFi connection get dropped often. In the WiFi settings menu, it says "Authentication Problem" underneath my SSID. When I press my SSID and press connect, it reconnects without a problem and without asking for authentication. It'll then work for a few hours or so before the same things happens. It's causing a problem with my Titanium Backup syncs to box. By the time the scheduled time comes up, the WiFi is disconnected. I realize that CM nightlies aren't supported and there are no guarantees that there are no bugs, but does anyone have any ideas about how I might resolve this? Or at least has anyone heard of this before? I haven't been able to find any other discussion about it.
Thanks!
Edit: I stumbled upon the cause of the issue while I was backing up my nexus 9 with a stock ROM and encountered the same problem. Turns out that this is due to backing up one of the "WiFi Access Points" selections in TiBu on Lollipop. Has nothing to do with the device or the ROM.
Ever since I got Lollipop on my Nexus 5, I have had major wifi issues. The wifi will randomly drop and only come back if i switch wifi on and off. Over the course of 2+ months, this has gotten increasingly aggravating. This happens both at work and at home.
Symptoms: while using my phone, all of a sudden the network stops working. This can be in the form of games, web browsing, or anything else. All of a sudden there is just a network timeout. If I disable wifi, the cellular network has always worked fine (so long as I have reception of course).
Things I have tried:
1. Flashing stock with a full wipe
2. Flashing a CM12 nightly with a full wipe - I just tried CM12 in the hopes that they may have had some form of bugfix. I had the same issues.
3. Setting the phone to 2.4ghz only.
4. Disabling PMF setting in WIFI config file.
5. Downgraded to Kitkat. I just flashed CM11. I havent used it too much yet but it seems like it is having the same issue.
I am at my wit's end. Is there anything else I can try? Please help!
At first CM11 seemed to help, but after using it for longer it is exhibiting the same WIFI issues. Any suggestions? My phone is quickly approaching paperweight territory...
I googled many forum threads about this common issue, known as, WiFi interruptions. But I was unable to find what I was looking for.
Some people had similar problems as mine but they were in important ways different.
This is my problem:
When I have WiFi on for lets say more than 6 - 7 hours for no apparent reason I stop receiving notifications, syncing stops, and any other available internet services turn off on my phone.
At fist I thought I was just not being bothered by anything / anyone. Later I tried to go to the internet and noticed that my internet was not working as well.
At that point I disconnected from my internet (on my phone) and connected back.
The internet started working... But it keeps happening every few hours. Sometimes 6 - 7 hours. Other times I will have no problems the whole day.
I don't know what causes the problem. But if someone could help, that would be awesome!
