Nexus 5
Stock ROM 5.0.1
Rooted/TWRP
Ever since I upgraded my phone to Lollipop, I started having problems with the Wi-Fi. The problem starts every time I reboot the phone or enter airplane mode, the Wi-Fi takes about 5 to 10 minutes to establish itself. If I try to enter it tells me it isn't responding. And when finally "giving up" to multiple requests the Settings Apps fails and then I can finally connect to any network. This problem started on Lollipop 5.0... then I had to flash 5.0.1 with hopes that It'll be addressed but it hasn't, and since I don't see thread about it, hope you guys can shed a light. There's another issue that it doesn't remember any new Wi-Fi entered, but I can live with that... but it's aggravating to wait so much time until I can connect to any Wi-Fi after a reboot.

Hi all. I have a weird issue that after Googling it doesn't seem anyone else has had.
The issue started earlier today, in the morning. I was using my phone on the WiFi and it was working phone, then my phone crashed, restarted itself.
I noticed it wasn't connected to the WiFi, went to the WiFi settings and where it usually says the list of networks it said "Turning on WiFi" and the slider at the top was greyed out so I couldn't turn it off.
I tried airplane mode and that didn't help. But the phone was working fine on my mobile data so restarted.
Now the weirder part starts. I basically have an issue where, if I turn on the WiFi, my phone crashes, or doesn't act like it's turning the WiFi on.
Even going Settings and then pressing on the WiFi option freezes the phone.
The problem started when I was still using 4.4.4 however since the problem developed I've used my mobile data to download the updates and now have 5.1.1 I think.
The problem persists even after updating to the most recent version and doing a factory restore. The phone is currently completely stock with nothing downloaded on to it. All I did is go through the first time setup for the device.
The WiFi currently is off, and the phone is working however it won't connect to my data, it has the signal bars and then an ! instead of a 4G icon.
If I try to turn the WiFi on it crashes the phone.
The phone is still under warranty so I plan on contacting LG on Monday however it's currently 3:34 AM on a Sunday so I have a day until I can call them and was hoping for a solution in that time.
Thanks in advance. I have the phone to hand so anything you want me to test I'm able to.
There is some information I didn't type as I don't know what is important was trying to avoid a wall of text so if you have any more questions I'll answer I best I can.
Thanks for reading, I hope you can help!
Hi all, two weeks ago bought a Nexus 5. Came with Android 5.0.1. Well out of the box I have no WiFi access. I saw no WiFi, while my laptop saw it. I was on a business trip in a hotel in Miami. Suddenly walking through the corridors of the hotel, detect a few WiFi AP but I could not connect. Back home, I put 3G data and immediately I get the OTA to Android 5.1.0. From there, the WiFi worked and I could connect to my account and download applications. Moments later, came a new OTA to Android 5.1.1 moment in which everything stopped working.
Using Nexus Root Toolkit I have tried all official image, place the router on 2.4, low channels, clean cache and what all Forum recommends. Finally try to put the phone in the freezer. Leave it for ten minutes. When I power on, I went back to see all networks and connect to my WiFi for 15 minutes approximately. Once the phone returned to temperature environment, the WiFi disappeared and I went back to the same situation. If I put it in the frezer it works, until it takes ambient temperature.
I can turn on or off the WiFi, but I do not see anything, I can see the MAC Address, when turn on the wifi the button turns blue, everything its works fine but without any success. Currently the phone has Android 5.1 image LMY47I and the M8974A-2.0.50.1.16 RADIO (did a downgrade thinking that could improve something). Currently I have OTA to migrate to 5.1.1. I dont know if I will give a try to this upgrade.
I would like to know if there is any way that the phone does not validate the temperature or something similar because when he leaves the refrigerator "cold", everything works for a few minutes until it returns to a temperature environment.
Any thoughts?
Freezer.. Interesting
Yeah can't say I've heard that one before ...

Hi, since the nougat update I got last week, my phone is having problems connecting to Wifi.
It will connect fine, then if I leave the wifi connection I have and go out, when I return it won't connect. It can see the router, but refuses to connect at all. I then have to re-boot and it connects fine (a real pain when wifi calling is essential due to poor signal and I'm hopeless at remembering to reboot when I enter a new wifi zone).
This is happening at both home and work, so I don't think it's caused by the routers. Before the update the wifi connection in both places was absolutly solid. Really frustrated, has anyone got any ideas?
I'm currently "repairing" the software yet again to see if that helps, it's a bog standard non-rooted E6653 on EE
Try doing factory reset.
Yes try a factory reset.
I'm on stock Nougat and no such wifi issues.
However I did experience wifi connection (disconnection) issues on Marshmallow.
Don't restart your phone. Don't do a factory reset.
This is what you should do: Turn on Flight mode, then turn it off again. Wait for a few secs, done!
This saves you for some of the daily pain, while you are awaiting Sony's permanent fix. Unfortunatelly, Sony is persistently refusing to tell you how and when, would you believe it ...
I have exactly the same problem with my Z5, after the latest upgrade. Will try the airplane mode trick and hope that Sony will provide a patch.
I have the same problem. Turn on and off flight mode works.
same problem here
Updated to Oreo today. Everything seemed fine but I've noticed that the wifi is now intermittent to the point of uselessness. The wifi will show connected, but will stop passing data after 10 seconds or so. Sometimes it recovers and sometimes it doesn't. I can disconnect and reconnect to get it started again, but it goes right back into the problem in another 10 seconds.
Things I've tried that did not fix the problem:
1. Rebooting phone
2. Rebooting router
3. Forgetting and reconnecting to wifi
And in combo: Forget wifi, reboot phone, reboot router, reconnect
So it's not a settings or "stale" connection issue. It's definitely something in the update that messed up the wifi driver somehow. It's completely useless now; I have to use mobile data all the time to get anything done.
I usually don't like to update OTA but tend to wait till the full firmware is available and I then flash my phone this way its got no conflicts, the latest firmware I can find for oreo is G950USQS2CRB9 so you might find the download and try flashing it, might help, wouldn't hurt anything to do it to see if that will fix any wifi issues.
It not solve the problem and many people have the issue on different forums
Anyone having issues with Wi-Fi dropping all the time after latest update? When I say "all the time" I mean like every couple of minutes.
All network settings reset.
MAC set static.
It's the only one of maybe 30 Wi-Fi devices in house with the issue.
Wi-Fi AP rebooted.
Phone rebooted.
Phone is maybe 1 metre from the access point most of day.
Nothing seems to keep it stable.
The phone's unusable and I've only got a couple of weeks to return it if this doesn't get fixed.
did you flash the new firmware or was it ota
