For a device with so many variants/counterparts with similar names (HTC One) development/modification is a fair bit tougher. I think getting an estimate on the demographics of users of each variant here will be useful. Personally, I'm using the M8SX which is single SIM. I've managed to root it and install the xposed framework (top priority for all my new devices) and will be glad to help anyone with the same model of the E8.
Table of models and Country of Origin found in another thread.
I've got a M8Sx too. I rooted it to install ViperFX but I couldn't, so I've gone back to stock now.
Im using M8sx here

Am I the only one with this type of model?
Located in Germany.

Model: 0PAJ21000 M8Sb which is missing i your list.
Apparently there are other versions of our device as floscho and kamrul.auntu have pointed out, M8Sn and M8Sb. I can't edit the poll. I'm not sure of the difference between the different models apart from M8Sd and M8Sw being dual SIM. Maybe we can compare screenshots from Settings > About to find out. Hopefully they're not too different so firmwares can work independent of model number.
(from Settings > About > Phone identity)
Phone Name
One E8 M8Sx
While we're at it let's compare battery life too. Settings > Power > History
M8Sn, Single
But it's not an option of the poll! If u add the option I'll make the vote
Hi componentchunk,
not sure how you manage to get the first screenshot (I have the same hardware),
but here are my screenshots for the model OPAJ300 M8Sn:
Hi
I own a OPAJ300 M8Sn model.

I got it with etotalk modrom and it came with gapps preinstalled.
I own also HTC one e8 from China with a poor Rom installed, without system update Funktion. Need help to search another Rom, a stockrom with update possibilitys. Thanks
Hello guys!
I am new to android world.I just bought this E8 from China and its the China Unicom version of E8 known as M8SW.There are many chinese apps on the phone and also it doesnt let me take cloud backup of the device as it asks for some chinese weibo account to sign in or create new account. The same phone has been launched in India and some other countries with the model code M8SD.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge,I am just curious can i flash indian or any other country rom like singapore on it which supports english as main default language.I dont wanna install custom rom on my phone and somehow wanna stay with stock rom but from some other country.
Also if i flash some other country rom on it would it be a problem with frquencies my current rom supports and frequencies what indian rom supports.i mean i dont want any hardware issue after i flash indian rom on to my e8.
After i flash indian rom would the ota updates happen or no.
Finally where I can get Indian stock rom for e8.
Thanks in advance.

I'm considering this version imported. I understand it has different bands, and a TV tuner integrated. But what do we know about UK compatibility and is it possible to root it?

Considering this version as well, obviously because of the cheaper price for such a great phone, however without the ability to root or flash roms doesnt quite seal the deal.
I am trying to see if there is an alternative model no, as whats listed is scl24... aka sm-n915? if anyone has any information that would be great as i cannot find any information on this model except from the official au site.
First of all... i have scl24, root with custom rom. And it work in israel, except a gps problem i dont have any other.
Hi all, you can go to vietnamese site to download the 5.0.1 firmware for SCL24 as: http://choimobile.vn/threads/scl24-...-edge-au-beta-3-full-unlock-10-06-2015.60411/
The best for me is Beta3 with auto unlock for Sim and every things work great.
PS: Thanks to Mr. MANH IT for this super rom.
I purchased a Mate 9 off Gumtree, but it was from Vodafone and it's stuck on MHAL09C346B136. Apparently, there are virtually no updates for the Vodafone Australia version so I want to give the phone the FunkyHuawei treatment and change the model number to and unbranded Australian model that will actually get updates as B136 is freaking ancient...
So if anyone knows which model for Australian that I should be using, please let me know!
Also if you are in Perth and have messed with Funky before - hit me up, I would love to pay you to flash my Mate 9!! (Yup I'm nervous!)
I think its C636 like the australians P9 Models
Edit: Wait, the p8 is C470

Nah, C636 is Southeast Asia / Asia Pacific (but not including Australia).
That's weird because my mate 9 is single sim... It only lists dual sim there.

I don't think FH lets you rebrand to any Australian models, check their website. Also, talk to duraaraa ..
From what I understand, there are ~3 "C" models in Australia - Optus and Vodafone have their own specific models and then there is a "Carrier Free" model (sold by JB HiFi/Hardly Normal), which is actually a Dual-SIM model. The Optus/Voda is Single-SIM only..
MHA-L09C34 = Optus
MHA-L09C346 = Voda
MHA-L29C652 = Harvey Norman Dual-SIM model.
Thread about rebranding talks about these 3 models also... https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...0-mate9-to-t3554656/post70992863#post70992863
C272 / C470 / C567 - ASIA PACIFIC / AUSTRALIA
Note: C567 is USA and C470 is New Zealand.. I believe
More info on regions here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...gion-codes-t3555086/post70992958#post70992958
If any option is viable, it would be rebranding to the MHA-L29C636 branding, which has been detailed on the forums here etc... That has been said to be one of the quickest to get updates... rebranding from a Single-SIM to a Dual-SIM model works and it just makes the second IMEI just show as 0's.

Ok, thanks for info... Good to know - I bought my C636 from Thailand... Can you tell me if VoLTE is working on yours (if you are using a telco which supports it) ? The setting doesn't show up on mine, and I thought it was because I bought the C636 model which is not an Australian model / wouldnt include the AU VoLTE configs.. Tho my guess is the Optus / Vodafone models include their VoLTE configs in their specific firmwares.. Telstra of course do not sell the phone - so no specific firmware available..

I have the Vodafone version and it doesn't have the setting anywhere - I am using it on Optus though, not sure if that has any bearing on the situation.
Also - Leighm0... would you be willing to have a go at rebranding my Mate 9? I only have a Chromebook and I need windows to do it I think. I own my own company and we run on ChromeOS - so everyone is using ChromeOS... The disadvantage of owning a Pixel LS!!! I'm in Perth, our offices are in Brookfield Place in the city.

Yeah - going to assume Vodafone version contains VoLTE for vodafone (if they even have support for it on their network?) ...
Sorry I'm not too comfortable messing with this phone yet, I'm still running stock without any rooting or custom recovery etc...

Telstra and Optus both have VoLTE - my wife has it on her Note 5.. shows as VoLTE icon in the status bar up the top when its available.. Theres a thread here on XDA about the option being available, but only if your provider support it AND there are configuration files for it in your "cust" partition..
Info on Telstra VoLTE:

Optus announcement:

Edit: Vodafone also.
Guys may I know which version u have? This is the first time I'm going to try op phone so I don't want to make any unnecessary mistake.
Is there any difference between the two in terms of custom rom and rooting availability(such as samsung's exynos is easier to get custom rom and root than other version) ? Or any custom rom will fit to either version?
BTW I'm living in Indonesia, do both will work just fine on my country or do I need a specific version in order to use it here?
Thanks people.
need the answer too, some people said using A6000 outside india or china the 4g network may not working.

I have a6003 here in the u.s..
I have A6003 here in the UK
6003 here in Australia - this is the official International version.. There is a 6000 version going around, which seems to be India based - but is being sold as a "flashed OS" version and sold internationally. I would highly suggest getting the 6003 - it seems the most compatible
6003 is for europe/us.
6000 is for chinese/india.
The difference is just the supported bands (6003 supports much more) and the rom, the rom can be replaced easily.
6003 for US/EU/GLOBAL
6000 is for China/India (no play services, few bands missing etc)
this information was received from oneplus directly.
