I purchased a Mate 9 off Gumtree, but it was from Vodafone and it's stuck on MHAL09C346B136. Apparently, there are virtually no updates for the Vodafone Australia version so I want to give the phone the FunkyHuawei treatment and change the model number to and unbranded Australian model that will actually get updates as B136 is freaking ancient...
So if anyone knows which model for Australian that I should be using, please let me know!
Also if you are in Perth and have messed with Funky before - hit me up, I would love to pay you to flash my Mate 9!! (Yup I'm nervous!)
I think its C636 like the australians P9 Models
Edit: Wait, the p8 is C470

Nah, C636 is Southeast Asia / Asia Pacific (but not including Australia).
That's weird because my mate 9 is single sim... It only lists dual sim there.

I don't think FH lets you rebrand to any Australian models, check their website. Also, talk to duraaraa ..
From what I understand, there are ~3 "C" models in Australia - Optus and Vodafone have their own specific models and then there is a "Carrier Free" model (sold by JB HiFi/Hardly Normal), which is actually a Dual-SIM model. The Optus/Voda is Single-SIM only..
MHA-L09C34 = Optus
MHA-L09C346 = Voda
MHA-L29C652 = Harvey Norman Dual-SIM model.
Thread about rebranding talks about these 3 models also... https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...0-mate9-to-t3554656/post70992863#post70992863
C272 / C470 / C567 - ASIA PACIFIC / AUSTRALIA
Note: C567 is USA and C470 is New Zealand.. I believe
More info on regions here:

If any option is viable, it would be rebranding to the MHA-L29C636 branding, which has been detailed on the forums here etc... That has been said to be one of the quickest to get updates... rebranding from a Single-SIM to a Dual-SIM model works and it just makes the second IMEI just show as 0's.

Ok, thanks for info... Good to know - I bought my C636 from Thailand... Can you tell me if VoLTE is working on yours (if you are using a telco which supports it) ? The setting doesn't show up on mine, and I thought it was because I bought the C636 model which is not an Australian model / wouldnt include the AU VoLTE configs.. Tho my guess is the Optus / Vodafone models include their VoLTE configs in their specific firmwares.. Telstra of course do not sell the phone - so no specific firmware available..

I have the Vodafone version and it doesn't have the setting anywhere - I am using it on Optus though, not sure if that has any bearing on the situation.
Also - Leighm0... would you be willing to have a go at rebranding my Mate 9? I only have a Chromebook and I need windows to do it I think. I own my own company and we run on ChromeOS - so everyone is using ChromeOS... The disadvantage of owning a Pixel LS!!! I'm in Perth, our offices are in Brookfield Place in the city.

Yeah - going to assume Vodafone version contains VoLTE for vodafone (if they even have support for it on their network?) ...
Sorry I'm not too comfortable messing with this phone yet, I'm still running stock without any rooting or custom recovery etc...

Telstra and Optus both have VoLTE - my wife has it on her Note 5.. shows as VoLTE icon in the status bar up the top when its available.. Theres a thread here on XDA about the option being available, but only if your provider support it AND there are configuration files for it in your "cust" partition..

Hello everybody. I am from Europe (Bulgaria) and I am going to buy Huawei Honor 8. I found a guy who bought Honor 8 from his mobile vendor (Telenor if it matters) and now he is selling it but the strange thing is that the model of his phone is actually for India. FRD-L02C432. I know it sounds strange because the phone model is for India (L02) but the build number is for the European region (C432). Do you think it is a good idea to buy this phone? I need a suggestion.
PS: Another bulgarian person bought Honor 8 from Telenor BG and he also got L02C432 and he is stuck to Android MM.
Is there Nougat update for this specific model?
LXX in Huawei does not specify regions, it does specify the number of production series. L02 would mean it was in the second batch produced, nothing to worry about.

There is no logic in your words. So L19 which is the european model with 64 gigs means it is the 19th batch produced, isnt it?

You asked, I answered. Sorry, you don't like it. Ask Huawei directly if they even care to answer your adolescent question buddy.
L02 definitely does not stand for "For India ONLY", that's for sure.

Well, sorry then. Be happy.
Pretty sure it is for region not batch number and I have yet to see anything else.
There seem to be only assumptions about this though, as far as I know.

LXX is indication for the number and kinds of bands the phone supports. It might be region-related but not necessarily. https://www.frequencycheck.com/comp...nor-8-standard-edition-dual-sim-lte-a-frd-l09
That would definitely add to the confusion. I'm assuming C432 is the region code then. That doesn't make sense then though since the supported bands differ depending on region only.
Well i guess they do lol.
Huawei isn't exactly very straight-forward in their naming process.

Here you have the specs for L02.
Your Firmware is European.
Note:
1. L02 has nothing to do with India. Yes it's the only selled Honor 8 in India but has nothing to do with the country. It's because the frequencys of the signals is compatible in india.
2. Your device COULD be debranded. Check online with your serial number if it is a L02. (Maybe there's a webpage that does that)

I found a B380 FullOTA update for the L02C432 in the Firmware Finder app. I am not sure if it works, though. I have my phone from carrier in Slovakia.I hope the update comes soon officialy.
I bought an unlocked S8+ from a website. It is from Hong Kong, dual SIM, the model number is SM-G9550. I am using it in Australia. Now there are two things that I cannot do with it - VoLTE and Samsung Pay. Also the Android 8.0 upgrade is still unavailable for SM-G9550, which is crazy. All mobile carriers in Australia has pushed Oreo upgrade but I cannot get it.
If anyone can help me with my questions here:
1) Can I flash an Australia firmware to my handset? If it is possible, do I have to root it?
2) If it can be flashed with an Australia firmware, is the dual SIM feature still available? I ask because all phones sold in Australia (except those on website and apparently overseas version as mine) the dual SIM feature is banned/locked because the telecom companies don't want to allow competition, and ACCC (the consumer council) is just a puppet.
3) If it can be flashed with Australia firmware, can I turn the VoLTE on? At the moment, it cannot be turned on as there is no such an option in the Settings.
Thanks in advance!
I'm sorry to tell this, but you simply can't flash anything other than the chinese software on this phone. There are two CSCs available for the g9550 which apparently are CHC (open China) and TGY (Hong Kong) according to updato. Both aren't on Android 8 and I'm not sure if they ever will be.
So:
1) No you can't. Australian providers make their software for the australian model (which is the international) G955F.
2)-
3)-
So to look the truth in its face:
You might be better of selling this phone and buying the international g955F, which is compatible with australian firmware. alternatively there is the G955FD, which is dual sim, but (i just googled for 2 minutes so could be wrong) there also is no official australian firmware. What you can do with the g955F/FD is rooting, which could perhaps give you the possibility to flash an australian CSC to the FD, if you really are thinking about buying one, someone could sure give you the answer to if its possible or not
Hello everyone,
as per the title, can i buy the mi mix 2s in china from a local seller and then switch it to a Global Rom?
Will i encounter bands problem for example? i live in EU
Thank youu
Yes, you can just install the global rom, I'm living in germany and also got the chinese version. You may check what LTE bands are used in your country since the chinese version does not have all the bands the global version has. However, the extra bands the global version has are mostly used in africa and america so chances are good that you'll be fine
Are you entirely sure that the two versions come with different bands? I can't find any confirmation anywhere

Yes they do come with different bands. I do not recommend you buying the chinese variant!
Look for the model that ends with XA ! this is the Global one with all bands.
Trust us. There is a reason for different models to exist.
The Chinese model can install global ROM but you cannot lock bootloader afterwards so it is not safe and many apps will not work.
Global model has more bands than base Chinese models but same as 8/256 Chinese model.
You can, but it would be "better" to buy it and install a rooted ROM from here if you want full features like Android Pay to function.
You can't relock the bootloader if you change from the chinese ROM.
Yes you could, but that may be not suggested depending on the model you want to get...
For 6+64 / 6+128 models, China variant (XE model) differs from global variant (XA model): XE has less band support and you need to keep your BL unlocked to install global ROM. So you'd better not buy these two models in China.
Still, I can show you the missing bands on XE model if you'd like to know, but anyway I don't think it necessary to buy it...
For 8+256 model, there's no two variants, only one XA model for both China and other countries. You should be safe to buy it.
And, if you get XE variant and flash global ROM with BL unlocked, you still cannot install Magisk - you'll see bootloop and then enter recovery. That's another important reason why I don't recommend XE variant. The only way to install Magisk is to install MiPa kernel instead of the stock one.
There are many posts scattered around with this information, and people asking about it. So i prefered to regroup this here.
So YES it is confirmed, the only places to get the OPPO Find X2 Pro 2025 , Global WITH Dual Sim are in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapour (waiting for more information if other countries have them)
It's nearly impossible to find a place to buy it online, so you need to find alternative ways like http://www.parcl.com to get it, and it will come out more expensive.
Be careful on the JD.com site from Thailand as it has various versions of the phone.
Also apparently Oppo is big in Thailand and they have shops in Bangkok, so it's easy to find (apparently the Black one is out of stock, but the Orange one can be easily found).
One member here posted this as proof, and it's thanks to him we were able to find the truth!

I'm also interested to know that. Did you flash the EU / UK Firmware on the Thai Model with no issues? Strange i thought the Global 2025 variant all have the same firmware. But now thinking of it; as the Thai model is the only Dual SIM 2025, i'm very curious to know what differences there are... as if there are not many, this is going to be interesting to see if it's possible to port it to other 2025 single sim Models.
Could you please enlighen us and tell us the differences between the two models?

under the bands specs... this is the translation
* The function will be available on the 5G Live Network. Depending on the service area of the network. And software of certified devices It will be able to support the 5G function when it is upgraded via OTA and when the network used is ready to provide service.
meaning it doesn't support 5G currently since it is not necessarily deployed in that region but they will bring functionality via OTA...
To note, currently 865 snapdragon has 5G limitation to 1 SIM only and is being worked on currently to be patched... this is for all phones... you can either rock dual sim, dual 4G, 1 SIM 5G and 1 SIM Standby. Someone in previous post has the phone in hand and could answer better. The limitation is not Oppo's issue... its googles and Qualcomm. This is why USA OnePlus 8 Pro is currently only 1 SIM and EU OnePlus 8 Pro only supports dual sim 4G.

Yes, I'm able to flash EU firmware and Global firmware back and forward with no issue.
EU firmware is less bloated with no theme or OPPO browser app. However, my purpose then was to get May patch cause the global rom .17 was pulled at that time.
But I'm back to .21 Global now.
If we flash it from global to EU, something might not work properly. You have to do data wiping once and everything will be fine. But that is not the case when you switch to global firmware from EU firmware.
And for the question about flashing. Yes, I did flash everything via its recovery.
Ok great to know!
Where did you get your "EU" firmware (source)?
Also, you confirm that the dual SIM is still on when you flash the Firmware (it can happen that in the UI or partition the dual SIM is not written in the code. Thanks for your help.

I'm using PARCL...
its a buying and forwarding service... basically, you find something on the web... for example, the thailand version of the Find X2 Pro (I used the recommend mobile company site that Oppo recommends on Thailand site, believe its AIS)...
Copy the website url and total price and some additional details like color, capacity, etc.
Go on PARCL and follow their instructions (its fairly intuitive)... You basically make a request for someone in that country that forwards for PARCL to buy it for you then ship it to you in your home country... think of it as a personal shopper.
You pick from different forwarders in that country... some new, some experienced, etc.
They review and message you back that they will agree and will give you a price for their services + shipping. For me with USD conversion, it made the phone around $200 more expensive... considering I didn't have to pay tax and I choose the option for them to manipulate the customs info (basically they send as gift as opposed to purchase, helps to avoid tariffs, aliexpress does the same thing) Its not the greatest deal but I am getting a phone in Indiana from Thailand and didn't have to fly there personally...
You pay the total fee (phone cost + their service + shipping) all together with paypal. This lets it be under buyer protection... so even if there's a scam.. you can get your money back for the most part from paypal.
Then basically you wait and stay in contact with your forwarder...
for me, mine should reach him Friday then ship after that... about 12 hours ahead.... then he will take to DHL and ship to me... Will have it in hand next week.
They will typically take a picture when they have it in hand before shipping to you as well.
I mean you could probably hop on a plane and get it yourself faster... but that fairly fast.
This is my first time using the service... its fairly legit... like anything, it has good and bad ratings... but with using paypal for payment... it keeps you protected as far as getting what you ordered... I'll let you know once I get it to give my full recommendation and I will even give my forwarder's name so you can look for him if you decide to go that route...
Unless you know someone going there.... I could not find a store shipping overseas.... plus, how legit is it to give over your credit card to a shop in Thailand or Malaysia??? really? This sounds like a much better "safer" method to me! :good: :fingers-crossed:
I already have the Malaysian version .. if there is any questions I will be happy to help .

Would you know how they got VoLTE/VoWiFi working in Australia? Any links please? I would very much like to activate VoLTE/VoWiFi on my Rog 5 in Australia. Thanks

It doesn't show an icon on the top right that VoLTE is enabled, however, going into #*#*4636*#*# (*#*#4636#*#*) does show IMS is Registered and VoLTE is Available.

Was about to order the EU version direct from Asus but then I noticed this thread. As I'm also in the UK can anyone please confirm if VoWiFi and VoLTE will work in the UK? I'm on Vodafone and both work with my current phone (OP7 Pro). I've seen that there are some steps to activate VoLTE and VoWiFi but the solutions I've seen are from posters in Australia and the US so would welcome confirmation that they work in the UK.
Refer to this ASIS Zentalk thread. Apparently ASUS has activated VoLTE and VoWiFi for UK in their July firmware update.
Apparently the latest update contains .mbn files for activating VoLTE and VoWiFi for these UK operators: EE, H3G, O2 and Vodafone.
(Here's hoping Australia will get similar love soon.)

Wow that's really good news. I had looked at the Zentalk threads but not spotted that info so thanks for pointing it out. Looks like I'll be placing an order tomorrow

Rog 5 user here in UK. Yes, volte had been activated in UK for Rog 5 . I use the Chinese Rog 5 with global ROM, volte is working perfectly with EE network. However it's working with all other networks too make sure you update to the latest software, ending in .86
