[Q] Nexus 5 Camera Problem! "Can't Connect to Camera" Help! - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there,
I recently bought the Nexus 5 ( 32 gb), and updated it to 5.0 today.
I haven't been able to use the camera at all, as every time i open the app it says, " Can't connect to camera."
I have tried everything from clearing cache and data to rebooting, but no avail. Right now i have no 3rd party apps using the camera.
This is very frustrating since i recently bought it and i cant even use the basic camera feature.
Anybody else suffering from a similar problem?
Any fix out there?
Thanks,
Yash.:crying:

Camera app is not working

Hello everybody
My Nexus 5 recently captured my attention as the camera is not workig anymore. I have the latest android version, not the L however, an it's unrooted. I only have retrica and instagram for taking picture as well, but they don't seem to work too due to this problem. I don't know where the problem can be originated from, but when I open the camera app it says Cannot connect to the camera. Has anyone of you exeperience it? How did you solve it?
I tried to delete the data from the app menu, stopped it, unistalled and reinstalled the updates but nothing has changed.
Thank you
Did you already try these suggestions? http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/connect-to-camera-error-upgrading-to-4-t2564457
Camera not working can be one of the frustrating things when you use a phone. As it involves hardware nothing much can be done. I use Cyanogen based phone which has not given me any problem. I would suggest to try it as it is heavily reliable.
did you try a reboot? seems so simple, but it can fix

[Q] Play Store not showing paid apps

Hello everyone, I've recently purchased OnePlus and the thing is that I can't see paid apps anymore, before 1+ I owned a nexus 5, and a few SONY phones and I haven't experienced such problem, is there any fix for this? Because VPN doesn't help anymore.
Trying clearing the Google Play app data/cache.
It doesn't help, I mean I even tried using VPN with Airplane mode on, also without SIM card but still nothing ....

Main camera not working

Hello
The camera on my nexus 5 stopped working three days ago. I used a CAF CM rom then.
First the Google Camera app crashed every time I tried to launch it and any other camera-related apps said "Can't connect to camera".
I wiped the chache through TWRP restarted the phone, the camera worked at first try, but at second try it crashed again.
Then today I reinstalled the stock 6.0.1 from the Google site with full wipe.
Now Google Camera app says "Can't connect to camera" and every other app automatically uses the front facing camera without having the option to change it.
May it be a hardware related error? Would replacing the camera module help?
P.S (the data in the signature below are really old)

broken camera?

Hi guys,
I've owned a Pixel 2 since Dec/17 (bought i the UK... so no warranty in Italy), two days ago I started having some trouble when using camera: phone hangs, camera can't get focus... but in the beginning a simple reboot fixed the problem...
This is until yesterday night, when the error worsened: now each time I start Camera application it force closes, even if I launch third party camera apps they crash...
So I tried clearing cache and data for Camera app, but still no luck.
I then tried to factory reset my phone, and reflash full factory image, but I'm still getting the error... sometimes the camera works but it's a rare event.
Has anyone ever experienced this issue? Is there a reset for the camera hw?
thanks

Years ago, I had the exact same problem with my S4. After trying all of the things you have, and a few others, I used the dialer code for the hardware test menu and found that the front camera had failed. Got a new one off Amazon, installed it, and everything was back to normal. I honestly don't know what, if there even is one, the code is for the Pixel 2, but I believe there are some apps that will do the same thing.
camera was broken... tried times and time to reset recovery and so on...
but the solution was to ask Google support, they replaced my Pixel 2 with a brand new one (full sealed box)
i was used to Samsung and tought it would be impossible...
Point for Google.

Nokia 8 - Can't connect to camera problem

Hello,
on Nokia 8 when camera is launched, the camera app falls with error "Can't connect to camera'. It's happening after factory reset on absolutely clean phone.
I think it's not a hardware problem because after restarting phone, the first launch of camera is working but when I press home button and open camera app again, error appears .
It's not about bad app, because this is also happening with Whatsapp, Instagram, GCam, whatever.
Phone has the latest update.
Is there any help for this issue? Are there any Nokia 8 owners with same issue?
Thank you very much.
Hello all,
Since 2 weeks the same problem with my Nokia 8 / 128GB; TA-1012
Camera firmware: V100.0098.01 / V020.0072.01
After it first occurred I did a factory reset and I was able to make pictures from all apps.
Then I could make a number of pictures after each other.
From today making only one picture is possible, then it says: Camera error; can't connect to camera. After restarting the phone I am able to make one picture, just as @gibby1 .
Please help.
Thanks,
Hans
Update: After the last time switching the phone off-on I am able to make unlimited pictures/videos, with both normal and selfie camera, from various apps. We will see how this developes.
