Hello everyone,
Hope this is the right place to post this kind of request. Have also searched for old posts, but couldn't really find a similar topic for the HTC One Mini.
So Yesterday my HTC One Mini went through an unexpected factory reset.
I'd like to recover photos/videos/contacts/emails that had never been backed up or synced, but I'm having an hard time finding the right procedure.
The phone has never been rooted, USB debugging has been allowed, Android version 4.4.2, HTC Sense 6.0, Software number 4.09.161.6, HTC SDK API 6.20, Build number 4.09.161.6 CL363588 release-Keys.
I've tried to use some softwares (Recova and Wondershare Data Recovery) I already used in the past to recover lost data from SD cards and usb sticks, but the phone doesn't appear on the list of available device inside those softwares. Under my computer, the phone appears as Multimedia Portable Device and I'm able to browse the folders.
I tried also Dr. Fone, but I'm unable to get past step 3 when it tries to get some Foxxcon Bluetooth driver.
Could you please suggest me a good way to recover the lost data?
Is there any way to connect the One Mini as a Mass Storage Device to a Win 7 PC?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello guys!
This is the first time I'm ever asking for an advice online so don't judge me too hard, I'm out of options, been googling for hours.
I have SE Xperia X10 mini (not pro). A while ago I rooted it and removed some annoying system apps. Removed the apps that were labeled as safe to remove by people who have done this before. As a result market stopped working, been trying to fix it but nothing seemed to help. Last option was a factory reset. Did that. Now I have a phone with no apps, cant access web, don't have a file manager, no music player, no nothing And market is still not working.
Only good thing is that now market is just stuck in "Starting download" position as before it had this annoying error message popping up.
I'm wondering is there a way for me to reinstall the phone completely with market not working and not having a file manager either?
Thanks in advance
P.S. I use ubuntu, but will figure out how to run win files soon. BTW might this thing with adb.exe + usb debugging help me install apps through USB, so I can atleast install file manager and then it would be easier to figure out what to do next?
Have you tried fixing with Sony PC Companion? I had a similar problem where I deleted some things I shouldn't have and PC Companion fixed it for me.
did you use sd-ext? because i have got the same problem which is i have to do partition again to ext3
Market is stuck whenever i try to download multiply files, but it was solved once it's upgraded to Play Store
and yes you can install applications via USB, just be sure to activate USB Debugging in Development menu, there is an windows application that allow mass apk installation, just search it
Thanks guys for your responses. School is intense now but once I'm done with all that workload I'll get to fixing my phone You really calmed me down by confirming that it is possible to install apps via usb Really much thanks, from this point on I'll manage
Let's see if I can get help. Please tell me if this is not the right sub-forum
GT-I8910L AMH1
1) S3 Mini did not have it's memory full but said so, uninstalled apps, keep saying that memory was full.
2) Rooted to install Root Explorer and see what happened. Rooted with Mini Toolikit 1.1
3) Could not install Root Explorer even when rooted since it claimed there was no space left.
4) Resetted to factory settings
5) OK with the Memory space.
6) No USB for MTP (see the files in the Card or Phone). Windows 7 x64 says "USB Device not recognized"
I've tried it in several computers with no luck. Still the ODIN works and I could update it's firmware with Kies.
My GT-I9300 does work, so I know it's not the PC/Drivers.
Tried too many things, even *#7284# trick. No luck.
Any suggestions?
I DO NOT want to bump this thread but maybe someone at least can point me where should be posted to get the right people see it, can I move the message somewhere else?
I've tried to delete it and create a new one on the S III Mini subforum but I couldn't delete and didn't want to double post.
thx
Hello guys,
I have installed a custom ROM on my HTC ONE V phone after doing a backup with the HTC Sync Manager. I updated the firmware (Hellboy) and then played with a bunch of different ROMs. I think I did a backup with clockwork at some point on it but I don't think I can find it between the other folders on the phone. Main problem as soon as I installed the custom ROM I was unable to connect it with the computer anymore. First of all it displayed only the USB Mass USB connection, tried a lot of times with various different ROMs to enable via terminal mtp or ptp with no luck (computer sees it only as an external drive and HTC manager doesn't see it at all).
So I would try to revert it back to the custom ROM which looks to be even more of a hassle then installing a custom rom. Anyway, I have a new phone that I'm using now and only care for my backup contacts. I see them on my computer on AppData but they are encrypted and have the XML extension. Is there any software that can import that data into content that can be used?
Thanks!
Hi,
First, are you using Sense based roms? Only Sense based will have HTC sync. Without Sense and HTC sync, the computer just sees a random device. Trying a Sense rom, or flash back to stock will likely let you see your contacts again.
So, for more insight and help with your contacts, you will need to ask about it in your device section, here...

Good luck!
I just wanted to say that you're a life saver mate. Thank you so much! You took 5 mins of your time to post a reply on my thread and I saved hours or maybe more of research for this stupid issue. As soon as I searched a sense enabled ROM and install it and as soon as I realized that I can access my device from my computer using fastboot instead of adb when the device is in bootloading mode (I was trying to ping my device with "adb devices") everything went smoothly. I flashed a proper boot, a new sense-enabled ROM, I synced with my HTC Sync Manager, exported my contact list (for some reason it didn't automatically - basically never synced the contact lists), imported the contact list into my google account and bam! It appeared on my new telephone like some magic.
Wow, well done my friend!
Thank you. Thread closed.
well, im still not giving up trying to recover my photos.
I have 5-6 different recovery programs on my PC. (once tried to recover a deleted sd-card).
Yet the PC only connects the Android device only as device, not with a drive letter. (which is required by any of the programs to recover anything.)
I've read around that in android 4+, google removed the option to connect as mass storage (with drive letter). Now i enabled developer options and tried using usb debugging, yet no drive letter. I head of the program PTPdrive and wanted to try that, but unfortunately, this program does not support Win10.
I have an unrooted, stock rom HTC butterfly with access to developer otions. I also read of something like accessing the phone over ftp, but found no real clue to my problem,
i want to connect my HTC to my PC (win 10) as drive letter to run a recovery program on it.
Anyone has a guide or tips, how to get my HTC a drive letter?
hey there,
I am trying to access my files / wipe data from my Xperia Z3. The device has an unresponsive screen after I dropped it. I want to do a factory reset / wipe my data before selling it on. I do not need to save any further data.
A couple of weeks ago, I saved my files from the external phone SD card via USB on my computer (so USB debugging must be enabled I guess). However, I since updated my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and now the Z3 somehow doesn't show up any more.
I tried to use ADB, but it does not connect to the device (ADB drivers and tools installed). The Z3 still shows up on my girlfriends computer runnnig Win7, although it is only shown as an "empty" device (no folder/file system visible in windows explorer).
I can not wipe the data via an app since I do not have any such app installed/configured with this phone. I also can not do it on the phone, because the screen doesn't show anything.
does anyone have an idea on how to wipe my data from the device or why it won't show up via ADB any more?
thanks a lot!

Greetings,
Thank you for using XDA Assist. First, have a look at your device's homepage here:
Sony Xperia Z3
You can find a lot of useful information in the General Forum located there. If you create an XDA account, you can ask your question in the Q&A forum, also located there. Good luck and welcome to XDA!
hey,
that actually was me, I was not logged in for some reason.
I did look through the forums before, but I can not find any solution to my problem so far.
Since this is a problem with ADB, I thought it belonged to the general section rather than to a device-specific forum...
thanks and cheers
