New Gmail for Exchnage broken - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
th enew Gmail for Exchange does not sync contact and calendar.
This is a real show stopper for enterprise customer. Emails works fine, execpt that fonts used is way toooo small and you have to zoom on almost every single email.
Any ideas or suggestion on how to solve this?
I wipe my phone as it was upgraded from 4.4.4.
On top of that you cannot use the old email app!

Exchange questions

I am new to Android. Have been a longtime WindowsMobile user. The Captivate has a menu to synchronize with exchange including mail, contacts and calenders. I got mail to work, but contacts and calender do not synch. I would assume it is officially supported since it is in the menu. Has anybody else got it to work, meaning can you pull contacts and calender from your exchange account down to your phone?
Yes, mine works fine. Is auto synch off under menu/synch?

Mine is working fine too. I went in and disabled the Contact synchronization and it looked like everything (mail, calendar, contacts) is all enabled by default. I think I remember seeing the settings when I initially set it up too. Go into your calendar and then into the settings and make sure it is displaying your exchange calendar. Same thing with the contacts.
Mine works great. In fact a little tooooo good. I have it syncing with my Google contacts and my exchange contacts. . .
One note. The client on the Captivate is not a full exchange client. That's apparently an Android V2.2 feature. That means there are some features that worked on my BB and my Nokia E72 that don't work on the Captivate. The most notable, and irratating is any http link embedded into an appointment note is treated as straight text. So if you have an airlines check in appointment, or link to a map - you can't just click on it and have a browser take you to the link. . . .or at least I haven't figure out how to make that work yet.
ok. The whole Activesync exchange seems very screwy on Android. I deleted exchange account and re-added it. Now, I can see and synch all my contacts, but I only get some of my calender items. I downloaded TouchDown, and via Touchdown I can sync my email but I do not see contacts or calender. I am pretty techsavvy, so this just baffles me.
Is it possible to look up a name against the GAL/company address book with the stock android client when composing an email message?
I have been able to "Lookup" emails through the GAL. Simply type a name in the To Field, hit search. You are taken to a new screen where you can do a lookup. One note though. I have not seen FULL integration with the GAL. For instance, our company has Email, Direct Dial, Fax, Cell, Address all entered in the AD. This makes it easy to look up phone numbers. Cant seem to get that to work in the phone search
having issues sending appointments from phone
I'm using Exchange and stock email client. I've tried to send meetings to people in my GAL, but they never receive the invite. Anyone else having the issue?\
This is a known issue with the captivate. Hopefully there is a fix on the way. It was supposed to work seemlessly out of the box, but there are some problems.

Captivate Froyo - Email IMAP Delete

Hello all, just upgraded to Froyo and overall am happy with the upgrade. However I now notice I am unable to delete items from my IMAP Email Account via the Stock Email App. I have recreated the Email Account but when I try to delete any emails, it seems like its trying to move the item to the local "Trash" folder but fails. The email remains in the Inbox.
Anyone else have this problem, or can provide any solutions? I have tried K9 Mail but does not work well with my Exchange setup. I would like to retain the stock email app.

I am not sure about 2.2 and exchange but I know that they updated the exchange email in 2.2.1 as there were issues in 2.2. One of the reasons I cant go back to 2.2 my exchange account has never worked as well as it does in 2.2.1
Exchange works perfect for me. Glad to have GAL Lookup, even though its not real-time typing lookup, but I'll take it.
My ongoing issues are with my IMAP account. On top of the not deleting, it does not poll every 15 minutes, as I've set it up to do. My mail provider lets me check login attempts and active sessions, and I can easily go 6-8 hours without seeing signs from the Captivate. The app is seriously broken.
K9 doesn't work at all with my Exchange 2010 setup, on top of the delays, I am nagged by a wrong timezone timestamp on all emails. Touchdown seems like an option, but I'd hate to pay $20 for functions that should be delivered for free.
I have also noticed this problem; just updated today. However, how have you determined that the folder move is the problem?

I can successfully move the item among any of the folders on the IMAP server.
However, when I choose delete, it does nothing. I believe it has to do with the local Trash folder because when I recreated the account, the trash folder was not there. After deleting the first email, the Trash folder is created, but nothing is ever moved there.

I can't believe this hasn't gotten more people up in arms. I have been able to find very little about this and no solution at all.
It was great the PPTP VPN starting working correctly after the update but to have the basic email client fails this badly is absurd.

[Q] Corporate Exchange (ActiveSync) not working on Nexus 5 with 4.4.4. How to solve?

Hi Guys,
I just received a Nexus 5, which i want to use for work.
Before this, I have used a S2 where Exchange ActiveSync worked perfectly.
Which means:
- email synchronization fully working
- outlook phonebook fully working
- calender/agenda synchronization fully working
I am trying to achieve the same with my new N5, but it does not give me the option to add a 'Exchange Activesync' account. I have been able to set up an account thats called 'Business'. It also says it synchronizes all three subjects, but it doesn't.
Only email is working for me.
I have no synchronized phonebook, as well as an synchronized agenda/calender.
I am currently using MailWise to sync my agenda and phonebook, but its not perfect imo.
Do you guys have any experience with setting up a corporate exchange (outlook) account on a N5? Any tips how to solve my problems?

Hi guys! First post on this forum, and I was wondering if you could help me out with a little problem here :fingers-crossed:
The place I work use Outlook calendar, and I would love to get that showing on my SW2. However I can't seem to find any apps that support anything else than the "standard" Google calendar. I've tried subscribing to the Outlook calendar with Google, but the refreshing of the .ics-feed is WAAAAY too slow (like 6-24 hours), and I need it to update rather fast. Anyone know a solution to this problem?

Use app that sync Outlook with google calendar like Outlook Android Sync or other....
There also k9 Email app with k9 email smartwatch app wich it states work with Exchange 2004, 2007 not sure if that can help though

However I landed on adding the Exchange account to the "Accounts" part of Android. After that, it was a breeze to sync calendars.:good:

I added two accounts.
There is no problem with the first account.
But I can't get new emails with the second account.
There is no new emails, no notifications, nothing.
(My first account is mail.naver.com and the second one is my company's mail account)
I've tried with a third-party mail app, it works well. so well.
I've been receiving emails from the second account with my old phone for more than 3 month.
And there has been no any problem to receive emails or sync with my old phone which is HTC One M7.
I don't think it is the problem of account server.
I have no idea why I can't receive any emails from the second account.
Is there any way to improve receiving mails or... any solution of this??
Help me out my friends!
