[Q] Having trouble flashing 5.0 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I am running 4.4.4 and want to flash 5.0.
I had xposed installed, but I uninstalled it to try the update. The only system files I changed was the "Volume Boost", which I also reverted back to stock for the update. Once I boot into my custom recovery (TWRP) and try to flash the 5.0 update, it fails:
Code:
Updating partition details...
Installing '/sdcard/Download/c1a33561be84a8a6a7...
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found.
mount: failed to mount /dev/block/platform/msm_...
Package expects build fingerprint of google/ham...
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcar...

You have to use the stock recovery and adb sideload the ota. I'd flash the system, boot, cache, and recovery images from 4.4.4. Then sideload the ota zip

Any chance for an Odexed base?
I tried again to install and just sat on the boot screen and tried again after booting back into recovery and clearing dalvik cache same result, has anyone else successfully booted? If so tell me how you proceeded on install, I formatted data and cache then wiped boot and did clean install, it did install but just stayed on boot animation, let it run for at least 10 minutes but never booted into Rom,

Unable to Flash Rom?

I'm using TWRP v2.6.3.0, I've tried Factory Reset and Advanced Wipe (Ticking off Dalvik Cache, data, System, cache). Then I go to install a rom, it gives me an error. I currently don't have another camera to show the error. I'll write what I see in the terminal:
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip'/extern(not sure what's after this, it doesn't show).
Error flashing zip '/extermal_sd/cm-11-20131222-
Updating partition details...
And that's it, I don't know how to fix it. I've tried everything.
I'm using i727r by the way, not the AT&T version.

Section 5 is recoveries. CWM recovery zips can be flashed in your current recovery. Just reboot recovery after flashing. Just a point to make...Rule #1...Search before posting. Enjoy and good luck!

5.0.1 OTA?

just got the update alert on my nexus 5
Since I installed 5.0 is it safe to just take the OTA and re root or do you have to restore to stock recovery and all that jazz again?
It won't apply unless you're 100% stock.

You could just grab a stock 5.0.1 zip that's more than likely floating around. Someone always releases one, usually with root. Just don't forget the modem and kernel.
I looked for one an hour nor two back for someone. Think there will be one soon, but not yet that in could find but yeah, waiting for that is the best option
5.0.1 update
N/A
What is so different now that it needs to be stock for updates? Is it the new file system?

The update updates in blobs, not complete files. So if there is anything modified or missing it fails. That includes the recovery, system, kernel and radio.

Hi.
I'm trying to apply 5.0.1 OTA file to my Nexus 5.0.0 (rooted with SuperSU).
When upgrading from 4.4.4 to 5.0.0, I had to flash stock recovery over TWRP to be able to apply 5.0.0 from 4.4.4 OTA file.
So I made the same now :
- reflash stock recovery from 5.0.0 stock
- upgrade adb to 1.0.32
But when I try to sideload OTA ZIP file, upload stop at 60% and I have this error :
Code:
"/system/bin/install-recovery.sh" has unespected contents.
E:Error in /sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
I have to reflash system.img from 5.0.0 stock too ? I won't loose any data unless I flash userdata.img file, right ?
Thanks for your help.

Try flagging the latest cm 12 nightly to get the latest firmware. Then wipe system, data, caches and install Euphoria

I tried updating TWRP to the latest version (2.8.5.1) and unfortunately I am still getting "error executing updater binary in zip" when i try to flash the euphoria rom. I am on the latest ota for the OnePlus.
In the console, above the error message, it says "assert failed: oppo.verify_trustzone("TZ.BF.2.0-2.0.0109") == "1"" if that is significant at all.
Thanks for the help
Ok, i flashed CM12 and then wiped and tried to flash Euphoria and it worked!
Thanks for the help everyone.

Just an FYI, the tz assertion error has to do with not being on a cm12 firmware. Flashing the latest nightly automatically installs it for you. But if you want to go back to KitKat, you need to flash the cm11 firmware zip or you'll keep having an SOD

You need to flash the cm11 firmware zip or just the modem. You can find the files in the android development section
Edit: you can download the 05Q radio files from this thread

Sounds like the OTA zip might be corrupt. Have you tried redownloading it? Also, you're using stock recovery, correct?

Its because your phone is rooted and custom recovery is installed, it doesn't play well with official lollipop update. Unroot device and revert to stock recovery then try to install the lollipop update again.

If asked nicely:

I don't understand that

Download the stock ROM for your phone. Extract the recovery.img file.
If you are using a Windows machine, boot the phone into fastboot mode, install fastboot drivers, connect phone, open a command prompt, type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", press the enter key, disconnect phone, boot into recovery using the phone's volume buttons.
From where?
And how do I get the recovery in file
Sent from my XT1033 using XDA Free mobile app
Search for your ROM here: http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=filename&order=ASC&show=100&page=1
See my post above for the fastboot command to flash recovery.
I don't have a modified rom

I thought you had a modified ROM because the title of your post is "E:signature verification failed installation aborted cwm moto g 2013".
CWM is a custom recovery and wouldn't be part of a stock ROM.
