So I unfortunately shattered the screen on my Nexus 5 and would like to buy the phone again. The problem is, Google is out of stock on the Google Play Store and they will probably never get more because the Nexus 6 is out. My question is where can I buy a Nexus 5 in retail packaging? I can't post a link to it because I'm a new user but if you search Nexus 5 on Amazon and click on the first one it looks like a third party is selling it or something because the picture looks really sketchy. So will that phone be in retail packaging and if not is there a place I can buy one from that would be?

Try Amazon for instance. I`am sure there are Nexus 5 devices on the market still for the time beeing. If goods are sold as new on Amazon they will be shipped in the original retail packaging, you might also email the seller for confirmation for this.
Where did you buy it from first? IF you bought it from the play store, see if they will replace it and how much it would cost..........As for the phone on amazon why don't you ask a question.....You can also try looking on ebay for a "new" nexus 5 with retail packaging as well.
edit:
On one of the listings there are 157 questions, so I bet you aren't the first person to ask the question about the retail packaging.

This will be my first Nexus so I'm not sure how you guys generally go about it. In addition to being on the Play store, are these usually sold by the big online retailers like Amazon? If so, would they be likely to have it immediately when it's released, or would Google hold onto some sort of "exclusive" sales period?
I do know that I'm not interested in buying it from AT&T just on general principles, but might consider some other non-Google source if I'm guaranteed availability & quick shipping.
I'm pretry sure best buy will have it along with tmobile. Best place to buy will probably be the play store. Also wrong section

I'm pretty sure that they will be offering the Nexus 5 on Amazon. I'm not completely sure because its Google ( unpredictable ), but the Nexus 7 (2013) was on Amazon, so I assume that the Nexus 5 will be too.
Probably just the playstore and possibly the carriers. Retailers would want a piece of the pie and these are already subsidized by Google at $350 ~
Usually sold only on playstore to start with, but Google may partner with amazon and best buy as well. But whatever it is place an order from play store as soon as the device goes for sale. Then look if you can get locally from best buy since you can always cancel or return the play store order.
My preference if it's available amazon, I will go for it with prime shipping. Always easy to deal with amazon customer service than Google or usually no clue best buy customer service.

This will be my first nexus too. If bought from a carrier, will they be adding their own bloat like they do on other phones or will it stay true to the stock android experience? Would you still get your updates from Google or are you stuck waiting for the carrier to push them out?

I hope to get it from T-Mobile (as long as they don't screw everyone over like they did with the Nexus 4 and offer it at a higher price) since I would be able to pay for it over 2 years and not have to pay full price right away.
Also, just read this on the official blog:
Nexus 5 will be available soon at the following retailers: Sprint, T-Mobile, Amazon, Best Buy and RadioShack.

I wish I knew when it was available in bb. I would rather skip the shipping.

I'm patiently waiting for amazon to sell it. It seems like no one has any information on that...yet.

They should be listing the phone within a few days.
Is that based on a source? Or just based on their track record with the Nexus 7 (2013) ?
Even if they don't list it until Nov 6th, i'd get it before i would have if ordered from the play store. I just hope its not a debacle like the chromecast. Then again, that was because of the netflix promo.

I'd like to know as well if this is from a source or just an educated guess. I have Amazon GCs I can use if it's not that long of a wait for Amazon to get it. T-Mobile's "in the coming weeks" makes it sound like it could take a month for them to get it and I don't know if they will increase the price like they did the Nexus 4.

The way I read that is it could be any time before Thanksgiving time so it could be a whole month before we see it at those retailers.
Good day,
I am curious, are the RMA units from Google Play directly brand new phones, or refurbished/repaired ones? And is there any way one can check on the N5? (I read about the RTN menus, but that doesn't seem to work for me).
Thanks!
I´m interested in this because i´m waiting for my replacement
Yes. They send back a new retail unit when doing warranty replacements.
Refurbished

Most likely refurb and has been fixed

Yes even I'm interested in knowing this.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get the replacement?
I think they are new, at least in my case. But all 4 of them have had defects on the screen (dust?) and I am waiting for my 5th device...
I had to replace my Nexus 5. The CS rep at Google said that all Nexus 5 replacements were new. Hope this helps.
If all the replacements Nexus 5s are new... Where goes all the Nexus 5s we send them?

Hello Nexus fans
I want to buy Nexus 5 32GB, but it is not available in my country, so my friend will bring it for me from London.
Is the best and cheapest way to buy Nexus 5 phone from google play store?
I want it unlocked.
Thanks!
Play Store is the best place

Amazon is also good if ordering from Play should not be possible.
It's best to get it straight from Google.
A few things though... currently you can only buy the white version (Black is out of stock).
If you're willing to wait, it's rumoured that google will be releasing multi coloured versions of the N5.

I'm buying Nexus 5 but I want it to be from play store. I live outside US.
Is there a way to know if the pinpacked Nexus 5 I'm buying is bought from play store or not ?
The online store I'm buying for unfortunately are not providing me the information that they've bought from play store or not
Where do you live? In my opinion, it doesn't really matter.

Even if you buy one that's bought from Google Play, it's still very inconvenient to send it for RMA. You still have to send it back to the owner in USA, then have the person sending it back to Google for RMA.

Means I can't RMA it directly. I don't think they verify the lerson. Don't they just RMA it if it is bought from play store

Unless YOU buy it form the play store, you cant RMA directly.
If you buy from any 3rd party, you will be dealing with LG for warranty
Is the Nexus 5 still considered a good deal for its price? Google play store lists 16GB model for $350, although they're out of stock right now.
Q&A forum is thattaway
As it is already stop production, It seems that it won't restock anymore.
Yes, it's unlikely they will restock them on Google play store.
I think it's still worth buying if you can find a retailer selling them with a discount - say 10 or 20%. I think as it's not being manufactured any more, I wouldn't want to pay the RRP. I was lucky and got one about 10 months ago for £240 in a sale, and at that price it's still a bargain now.
If one of my friends asks me what phone to buy, not necessarily the newest, nexus 5 without a doubt. A lot of phone for the money.

Might as well get a g2
Or Xiaomi Mi3
I owned Nexus 5 & G2, G2 is not smooth like Nexus 5, but for me its better choice, so i suggest you to go for G2
