Will the nexus 5 be sold on the Play Store?

Any word on if the N5 will be sold on the Play Store? Will it be unlocked? Vanilla Android?

Hahahahahaha the above is the definition of a nexus device, that is it will be sold on play store, unlocked and with stock (vanilla) android, what rock do you live under?

I think it will have touchwiz on it
and locked. When I say locked I mean locked completely, not being able to use it at all.

I was wondering if it's a available for sprint, will it also be sold via the play store? The same as it's gsm counterpart? I'm hoping this will be my first nexus, but I don't know what to expect with cdma.

It most likely will be in the play store if you live in the US. It completely depends on where you live and how quick they manage to roll out availability.
If, IF, you fail to purchase it from the play store, don't fear as there are many other places you can purchase the phone from. (eBay)

The Nexus 4 was on the UK Play Store for day 1 (If memory serves).
So hoping the same for the 5.

why would you not just buy it on the play store? Besides, Best Buy is known for marking up phones' full prices.

Play store is usually bare minimum $100 cheaper than what the provider charges.

Likely places to buy

This will be my first Nexus so I'm not sure how you guys generally go about it. In addition to being on the Play store, are these usually sold by the big online retailers like Amazon? If so, would they be likely to have it immediately when it's released, or would Google hold onto some sort of "exclusive" sales period?
I do know that I'm not interested in buying it from AT&T just on general principles, but might consider some other non-Google source if I'm guaranteed availability & quick shipping.

I'm pretry sure best buy will have it along with tmobile. Best place to buy will probably be the play store. Also wrong section

I'm pretty sure that they will be offering the Nexus 5 on Amazon. I'm not completely sure because its Google ( unpredictable ), but the Nexus 7 (2013) was on Amazon, so I assume that the Nexus 5 will be too.

Probably just the playstore and possibly the carriers. Retailers would want a piece of the pie and these are already subsidized by Google at $350 ~

Usually sold only on playstore to start with, but Google may partner with amazon and best buy as well. But whatever it is place an order from play store as soon as the device goes for sale. Then look if you can get locally from best buy since you can always cancel or return the play store order.
My preference if it's available amazon, I will go for it with prime shipping. Always easy to deal with amazon customer service than Google or usually no clue best buy customer service.

This will be my first nexus too. If bought from a carrier, will they be adding their own bloat like they do on other phones or will it stay true to the stock android experience? Would you still get your updates from Google or are you stuck waiting for the carrier to push them out?

I hope to get it from T-Mobile (as long as they don't screw everyone over like they did with the Nexus 4 and offer it at a higher price) since I would be able to pay for it over 2 years and not have to pay full price right away.

They should be listing the phone within a few days.

Is that based on a source? Or just based on their track record with the Nexus 7 (2013) ?
Even if they don't list it until Nov 6th, i'd get it before i would have if ordered from the play store. I just hope its not a debacle like the chromecast. Then again, that was because of the netflix promo.

T-Mobile's "in the coming weeks" makes it sound like it could take a month for them to get it and I don't know if they will increase the price like they did the Nexus 4.

The way I read that is it could be any time before Thanksgiving time so it could be a whole month before we see it at those retailers.

You are one lucky.......o.o...lol any chance you can tell me how to unlock bootloader, where I can get custom recovery, and s off it (if it even has some kind of s on) And the weird thing is I've called places like best buy, sprint, and afew other other companys and they said it wasn't out yet....wow. Do I have to buy it from Google? If so I'll go for the 32gb $400 (that's freaking cheappp!!!) One.

The Nexus 5 is not for sale yet, to the best of my knowledge, from non-Google Play Store locations. Sprint and T-Mobile will have it, soon, but from what I know the play store is the only location aside from ebay or something like that presently.

It's being sold for sure by resellers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany (and probably most other EU countries). It's how I got mine.

As for buying one, Sprint and Best buy have them. I purchased a 16gb one from Best Buy last week and am running it on Straight Talk. All versions of the phone are the same right now. No matter where you buy it. If you plan on buying it out right the Play Store is going to be cheapest. I was lucky and got Best Buy to price match the play store. Most got denied.
Also, right now there is no 64gb version. Just 16gb and 32gb.

WRONG. Both Sprint and T-mobile are selling it now -- wth $100 markup. I think some people just make up stuff or don't keep up.

I apologize for trying to help out the OP between jobs. I ordered mine day 1, got it the Tuesday after release, went to a Sprint store the next day, confused the employees while getting my SIM and haven't been back. 1,000 sorry's for not shopping at stores more. My bad.

Buying a Nexus 5 in Retail Packagaing

So I unfortunately shattered the screen on my Nexus 5 and would like to buy the phone again. The problem is, Google is out of stock on the Google Play Store and they will probably never get more because the Nexus 6 is out. My question is where can I buy a Nexus 5 in retail packaging? I can't post a link to it because I'm a new user but if you search Nexus 5 on Amazon and click on the first one it looks like a third party is selling it or something because the picture looks really sketchy. So will that phone be in retail packaging and if not is there a place I can buy one from that would be?

Try Amazon for instance. I`am sure there are Nexus 5 devices on the market still for the time beeing. If goods are sold as new on Amazon they will be shipped in the original retail packaging, you might also email the seller for confirmation for this.

Where did you buy it from first? IF you bought it from the play store, see if they will replace it and how much it would cost..........As for the phone on amazon why don't you ask a question.....You can also try looking on ebay for a "new" nexus 5 with retail packaging as well.
