Hi there,
I have purchased a tablet from EBay (Allwinner 10.1" Android Tablet) With quadcore processor. I believe its the chines make.
The screen is not high defination. poor quality. I would like to know, would it be possible to change the screen with samsung Tab 10.1" ? So that the screen will be high defination and would be nice to use
I have seen online, I can purchase other tablets screen so will it work?
Thanks
Much appreciate for your time.
Hi,
It's extremely unlikely that any screen not made for your exact device will work. Your system would likely not even recognize it. Definitely a costly lesson if you buy something to try. There's also the matter of exact sizes and shapes, connections.. Etc etc...
My quick answer is definitely no. It won't work. And I would not try until you hear of someone doing the same thing successfully with your exact device and exact screen you are interested in.
You could ask for other opinions here if you wish,

o ok.
Thank you very much

Hi everyone,
After my Samsung S2 suffered water damage, I now need to buy a new smartphone, and I had almost decided for the S3, which now costs only GBP40 less than the S2. Until I stumbled upon this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/S7189-MTK6589-Android-Smartphone-UNLOCKED/dp/B00BG8F9G0
I have no problem with the idea of owning an "unbranded" phone, but I'm just worried that it might later turn out to be of substantially lower quality than the original. A colleague of mine owns a previous model of this Star phone (N7100), and he's been happy with it for the past year or so. After playing around with his phone a bit, it seemed fine to me, however I didn't get to test it in more detail (e.g. compare image quality of camera output with that from the S2, or see how stable the GPS fix is).
I'd have really liked to read a proper review for it (with benchmarks etc), or at least see a believable amount of user ratings. The Amazon product page has some good user reviews, but only 22 of them, and you can't really find much information about this model (or about the Star make in general) on the Internet.
What do you guys think? Is there reason to believe this phone would perform (visibly/audibly) worse than its closest Samsung equivalent, or that its life expectency would be shorter? Many thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it!

Please use one of ^^^^^these^^^^^^ threads. Otherwise the General forum would be full of these kinds of threads. One important difference that is independent of build quality is that branded phones have better OEM support and there is likely to be a lot more development on a branded device.

Hello guys, my name is Anna :cyclops: one friend said to me, that this forum is the best about android phones :victory:
So I just bought a NEW android phone from one guy for a very good price of 180$ considering its a 5" 1280x768 screen with 12mpx camera, 1gb RAM :good: The phone seems to work nicely, no lagging, but the problem is that I cannot seem to identify on what phone is this phone based. I couldn't find any info on Google, except one site And I could not find a manufacturer called "WORLD" or "DIAMOND". It seems like some kind of rare chinese phone, although the back cover says "Designed in Italy Assembled in China."
I would like to buy screen protectors and case for this phone, so I would be glad to at least find a mostly similar popular phone to this.
I attached photos of the box, phone, and INFO screenshot. ANY help is VERY appreciated...

Greetings all,
This is my first post here so to start with an intro: I'm not a Dev, just a user trying to understand how things work (or why they don't).
In this case, I'm looking for some info on the "true" GPS or GNSS chipset used by Android smartphone makers, vs. Apple iPhone series.
I've googled and looked at many "TearDown" reports on both but it remains obscure to me.
My setup is still rather uncommon, I admit: I drive a Tesla Model S with a nasty windshield optimized for heat and IR reflection (seems it's a double window with some alloy in between) and as a result, EVERY single Android phone I've tried (Samsung S4 Mini, Mega 6.3, LG G2 Mini) fail miserably vs. an iPhone 4 or 4S, not to mention a quick test with a 5S.
Every Android says: "no GPS reception" like 75% of time, wherever close to the windshield I place it.
While every iPhone, even placed on the passenger seat, like 1m away from windshield, will be on easy mode with both Google Maps or Waze (I use it in FR because it's the only one to show speed-traps by the meter range; one trap avoided pays the phone here...).
Do you know by any chance the type of GPS/GNSS that Apple is using on their iPhone ?
And what Android phone maker would use the same -or up to performance- ?
So I can order it.
Best regards,
T.P.
Hi,
Here would be the section to ask about that,

Good luck!

Hey, I'm back after 2 years absence and I need a new phone.
It's just time for a better device. Whatever I buy must be rootable, android and not expensive (i.e. not so popular).
Which forum would I go to where various models are discussed for these considerations?
I came here 2 years ago looking for how to root my Moto Droid X2 (MB810) which I've been using with cyanogenmod 7 all this time. I have been very dissatisfied with the X2's reception, plus I had to replace the touch screen (not the LCD) and now the display frequently goes black when I receive a call. I'll bet it was the replacement digitizer, since it does have a chip on the cable and I never had that issue before. I tore the cable in disassembling it to replace a bad earpiece.
Hi,
I suggest you ask for opinions on this here,

Basically I’m looking for a new phone and I chose it to be an asian (Chinese, Japanese or Korean) phone. But my problem is that I’m not really familiar with those kind of phones, so I was hoping I can find some help online. I would like to receive some suggestions for phones. The price range is about 150-200€ (168-240 USD). And the thing I require are as follows:
Long battery life (in the 2500-3000mAh category)
About 5 inch HD screen
Decent camera
2GB RAM
LTE support
SD card slot
Android 5.0
Gorilla Glass 2 (although not necessary, it would be nice)
Honestly, if you guys can´t think of any specific models, you can maybe just give the name of certain brand.
