[Completed] [Q] Info about best, least expensive rootable android phones? - XDA Assist

Hey, I'm back after 2 years absence and I need a new phone.
It's just time for a better device. Whatever I buy must be rootable, android and not expensive (i.e. not so popular).
Which forum would I go to where various models are discussed for these considerations?
I came here 2 years ago looking for how to root my Moto Droid X2 (MB810) which I've been using with cyanogenmod 7 all this time. I have been very dissatisfied with the X2's reception, plus I had to replace the touch screen (not the LCD) and now the display frequently goes black when I receive a call. I'll bet it was the replacement digitizer, since it does have a chip on the cable and I never had that issue before. I tore the cable in disassembling it to replace a bad earpiece.

Hi,
I suggest you ask for opinions on this here,

[Q] Small device, running android which a clip on the back

Hi all,
Looking for a small android device, maybe bigger than a 6th gen iPod nano (ie the one that is simply a screen, can be turned in to a watch etc)
A phone or iPod touch sized device is too big. Closest I have found is a motoractv but the screen is just a bit toos mall.
So basically requirements are small, but bigger gain an iPod nano/motoactv, as light as possible, runs android.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Anyone have any ideas?

[Q] Looking for a new android phone and wanting suggestions

As the title says, Im looking for an android phone. I currently have an iPhone 4 jailbroken on iOS7.0.4 and hate it. If it dont sell it it will meet Mr. Shotgun and Mr. Clay pigeon thrower. I am used to android as I run a rooted Asus Transformer TF101 on the Kat rom. Do not want Windows mobile. I have played with a few windows mobile devices and do not like the UI along with other usability reasons.
Anyways, I have been looking at the Sony Xperia Z and ZR devices. I like the fact that they are water resistant though I am not convinces the glass is up to par for durability. There also seem to be some issues with the rear panel glass on the Z coming unglued. I have found these devices unlocked for about $400 shipped. I wouldnt mind cheaper but do not want to pay much more.
I do not want any of the Galaxy devices. They feel cheap and plasticity to me. I have replaced a couple screens and digitizers on them for friends and the glass/digitizer seems kinda weak to me.
I would like something fairly durable, water resistance preferred but not necessary, android (I am tired of dealing with iOS and how locked down and user unfriendly it is), fast, good camera ( >8MP ) and good display. I would prefer good rom support and the device being rootable. Must be able to last a good 8 hours of fairly moderate to heavy use. Must be usable on T-mobile or unlocked.
Any other suggestions or just grab a Z or ZR?

[Completed] Android Tablet Screen replacement

Hi there,
I have purchased a tablet from EBay (Allwinner 10.1" Android Tablet) With quadcore processor. I believe its the chines make.
The screen is not high defination. poor quality. I would like to know, would it be possible to change the screen with samsung Tab 10.1" ? So that the screen will be high defination and would be nice to use
I have seen online, I can purchase other tablets screen so will it work?
Thanks
Much appreciate for your time.
Hi,
It's extremely unlikely that any screen not made for your exact device will work. Your system would likely not even recognize it. Definitely a costly lesson if you buy something to try. There's also the matter of exact sizes and shapes, connections.. Etc etc...
My quick answer is definitely no. It won't work. And I would not try until you hear of someone doing the same thing successfully with your exact device and exact screen you are interested in.
You could ask for other opinions here if you wish,

o ok.
Thank you very much

Help With Finding A New Phone

Dear All,
I recently replaced my Moto G (1st Gen) with an Oukitel K10000 as I need very long battery life and a recent eyesight diagnosis required a larger screen (At least 5.5"). Sadly I have had to return the K10000 under warranty as an official OTA Update soft bricked the phone and the MTK Chipset from these chinese phones was hard for me to deal with, there was no recovery installed and the drivers for their flash tool dont work with my computers OS. I'm back to using my Moto G (With a Battery Jacket) and now have back my £139.00 (UK Pounds) spent on the Oukitel but I need another phone but I have a list of requirements that I would be grateful if anyone could suggest a phone to suit my requirements, apologies if I have posted in the wrong place I have only posted a few times before.
I'm looking for
- 5.5" Screen (Resolution not to much of an issue)
- 4G Compatiability in United Kingdom
- A LARGE battery or a phone that is efficient (24 Hour medium-heavy Use)
-2GB Ram (The Moto G struggles with multitasking with 1GB)
-Don't care about internal storage as long as there is a micro SD slot
- A phone that is well known to the forum with lots of development options like the Moto g with good availability of cases, screen protectors etc (I realised this was a drawback of Chinese phones)
- A gyroscope for use with my google cardboard, I was very disappointed to find the K10000 did not have one (and few other sensors for that matter)
- Android 5.01 + or with good ROM releases
-Dont Care about looks/build quality or cameras or unnecessary features
I don't mind spending maybe £20 or £30 more so a budget of Approx £160 UK Pounds, if need be I would be happy with a used handset if I had to
Is there anyone aware of a phone that I would be happy with? I have found ebay descriptions and websites can be unreliable (Such as being told the K10000 had a Gyro) so thought I would ask here.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who may have a suggestion
Lots of opinions to be had in this dedicated thread for such questions,

[Completed] Looking for a new phone. Help!

Basically I’m looking for a new phone and I chose it to be an asian (Chinese, Japanese or Korean) phone. But my problem is that I’m not really familiar with those kind of phones, so I was hoping I can find some help online. I would like to receive some suggestions for phones. The price range is about 150-200€ (168-240 USD). And the thing I require are as follows:
Long battery life (in the 2500-3000mAh category)
About 5 inch HD screen
Decent camera
2GB RAM
LTE support
SD card slot
Android 5.0
Gorilla Glass 2 (although not necessary, it would be nice)
Honestly, if you guys can´t think of any specific models, you can maybe just give the name of certain brand.
